Obama’s Comments On Biden’s Hamas/Israel Ceasefire Proposal Sparks Controversy

Former President Barack Obama is under fire from his supporters following remarks on President Joe Biden’s proposed ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

Critics argue Obama’s language reveals a bias and lack of empathy in the ongoing war, which has seen the death of over 36,000 Palestinians and 1,478 Israelis since the war began on October 7, 2023.

Yesterday, President Biden laid out a plan to reach a ceasefire in three phases:

Phase 1: a six-week truce is to be established with Israeli forces withdrawing from populated parts of Gaza. Hostage exchanges would begin, particularly involving women, the elderly, and the wounded.

Additionally, 600 trucks would deliver humanitarian aid daily while negotiations with U.S. and Qatari mediation continue.

Phase 2: plans for the release of all remaining hostages, including male soldiers, marking a full Israeli retreat from Gaza and transitioning the truce to a permanent ceasefire if initial talks are successful.

Phase 3: the remains of Israeli hostages would be returned, and efforts to rebuild homes, schools, and hospitals in Gaza will commence. Encouraging Hamas to accept the proposal, Biden stated, “It’s time for this war to end,” calling on Israeli leaders to support the plan despite potential political pressure.

“President Biden presented a comprehensive and fair plan to halt the fighting in Gaza,” Obama stated in a post on Instagram. “This plan secures Israel’s safety, facilitates the return of hostages taken on October 7, increases humanitarian aid to Gaza, and involves the international community in Gaza’s reconstruction.”

Obama acknowledged that “a ceasefire alone won’t ease the pain of Israelis whose loved ones were butchered or abducted by Hamas, or the Palestinians whose families have been shattered by the subsequent war.”

He addressed the broader goals, saying it could “stop the ongoing bloodshed, help families reunite and allow a surge of humanitarian aid to help desperate, hungry people.”

Obama emphasized that the ceasefire “can lay the foundation for what will be a long and difficult road to a future where Israel is secure and at peace with its neighbors, and Palestinians have the security, freedom and self-determination they have sought for so long.”

Social media’s reaction to Obama’s statements was swift and critical, focusing on the former president’s choice of words.

One commenter wrote, “The word choice in this post is a case study in propaganda. Israelis’ ‘butchered’ but Palestinians’ ‘shattered’? They dropped American bombs on tents, Barry.”

Another user added, “You’ve gaslit the humanity of the Palestinian people. Please don’t do that. No group of people is above another. Yet saying this right now, I’m going to have to contradict my own words to say ‘the occupying murderers & the present groups dictating the massacre of the Palestinians are not equal to them in this moment.'”

Additional comments included, “This use of language to describe what is happening shows how you really feel,” and “it’s so weird how you say Israelis were butchered by Hamas but Palestinian families were only shattered by ‘the subsequent war.’ As if Palestinians haven’t also been butchered by Israelis. This is such a painfully obvious manipulation of language in support of the Israelis.”

Encouraging Hamas to accept the proposal, Biden stated, “It’s time for this war to end,” calling on Israeli leaders to support the plan despite potential political pressure.

Megan Thee Stallion’s Legal Team Labels Ex-Photographer Suing Her “A Scam Artist”

Megan Thee Stallion has responded to the lawsuit filed by her former photographer earlier this year, accusing the cameraman of being a scam artist.

On Thursday (May 30), a report from Rolling Stone revealed Megan’s legal team is fiercely countering claims from her former personal cameraman, Emilio Garcia, who’s alleging mistreatment and underpayment.

According to the court filing, Megan’s lawyers, Mari Henderson and Alex Spiro, assert “there is no truth” to Garcia’s accusations of sexual harassment and labor code violations, adding that the allegations are “fabricated” and “outlandish.”

Garcia, who worked for Megan from 2018 to 2023, claimed in his lawsuit that Megan (legal name Megan Pete) failed to pay his overtime, made disparaging remarks about him and engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior in his presence. Specifically, he alleged that Megan engaged in sexual contact with a woman while traveling with him in a moving vehicle in June 2022 in Ibiza, Spain.

Garcia claimed the incident caused him embarrassment. In response to Garcia’s claims, Henderson and Spiro laid out a detailed complaint alleging that the photographer was nothing but a con man, who was terminated due to repeated attempts to scam Megan and her team.

“Plaintiff is a con artist who is manipulating the judicial system to act as his publicist and bullhorn in a desperate attempt to boost his failed singing career while trying to tear down the successful career of Megan thee Stallion,” Henderson and Spiro wrote.

Megan’s legal counsel also argued that Garcia frequently falsified invoices, overcharged for incomplete services and sought reimbursements for unspent money. His pattern of deceit led to his termination in June 2023.

Angered by his dismissal, Garcia filed what Megan’s lawyers describe as a “factually and legally frivolous complaint,” embellishing a routine wage dispute with sensationalist claims to generate media attention and damage Megan’s reputation.

Garcia’s lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, contends that his termination was retaliatory after he voiced concerns about wage and hour issues to Megan’s makeup artist and considered leaving due to her employing another cameraman.

“Megan just needs to pay our client what he’s due, own up to her behavior, and quit this sort of sexual harassment and fat-shaming conduct,” Garcia’s attorney, Ron Zambrano, a partner and Employment Litigation Chair at West Coast Employment Lawyers in Los Angeles, said. Zambrano insisted that Garcia should not have been exposed to such inappropriate behavior, labeling it illegal.

In a related move, Megan’s lawyers are seeking to transfer the case to federal court, citing Garcia’s incorrect identification as a California citizen and the misnaming of Roc Nation in the lawsuit. They also pointed out that Garcia’s contract specified New York as the venue for any legal disputes, further challenging the legitimacy of his claims.

“Plaintiff alleged in his complaint both that he was a citizen of California and that Roc Nation, Ms. Pete’s management company, somehow employed him. Both of these allegations are demonstrably false,” the filing stated.

Check out the report above for additional details on the case.

Eminem Fans Scoff At Claims He Used Megan Thee Stallion “Houdini” Line For “Clout”

Eminem’s new song, “Houdini,” arrived on Friday (May 31) and is still a trending Twitter (X) topic due to a line about Megan Thee Stallion’s traumatic 2020 shooting incident.

Slim Shady is being criticized for the lyrics in the first verse: “If I was to ask Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me, would I really have a shot at a feat?”

The word “feat” is used as a pun, doubling as a shorthand for “featuring” in musical guest appearances and a homophone for “feet.”

The reference touches a sensitive chord, as the 29-year-old endured a violent episode after a house party in the Hollywood Hills, when fellow rapper Tory Lanez shot her in the foot. Lanez was later convicted and sentenced to a decade in prison.

Fans swiftly took to social media, expressing widespread disappointment and anger at Eminem for what they perceived as trivializing violence against women.

One Twitter user posted, “F**k this guy! Men love to bring up traumatic moments in women’s lives for attention. Leave Megan alone.” Another commented, “Megan gets so many unprovoked jokes about her shooting, it’s disgusting and weird.”

The discontent was palpable across numerous tweets, with another fan questioning, “i raise the question again, what is so funny about a black woman getting shot in her foot,” adding, “why is it the butt of the joke every f**king rap song? i don’t get it.”

The sentiment echoes the collective dissatisfaction with the insensitivity shown toward Megan’s ordeal, summed up by one Twitter user who wrote, “A man, especially a white one, making light of a black woman’s trauma will never hit for me.”

But Eminem fans are firing back, laughing at the notion he used her name for “clout” when they say he’s infinitely more successful than she’ll ever be.

As one person said: “Eminem is the highest-selling rap artist in history and also has two albums that sold a million first week and his last album sold 279,000 first week. And Marcus Thee Stallion is only known for twerking and her fans are saying he is ‘clout chasing.'”

Eminem has yet to respond to the backlash to the song and video, which has already amassed more than 20 million views on YouTube.

“Nepo Baby” North West Attacked By Trolls, “Simba” Roars Back

North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Hip-Hop artist Kanye West, was encouraged by Jason Weaver, the original singing voice of Young Simba from the 1994 animated film “The Lion King,” following her performance at Disney’s live musical production.

The 10-year-old performed at the Hollywood Bowl for two performances, singing “I Just Can’t Wait to be King.”

Despite severe online trolling about her vocal talent and costume, North West found an ally in Weaver. Weaver shared a heartfelt message on social media and a backstage photo with North.

“What an honor it is to share the same stage with this young superstar in the making,” he wrote. “I’m so PROUD of you, North!! You’re doing such a PHENOMENAL job in this show!”

50 Cent Says He Wants To Slap Diddy Like The Notorious B.I.G.’s Mom

50 Cent once again blasted Sean “Diddy” Combs. This time, the G-Unit boss agreed with Voletta Wallace, the mother of the late Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace, about wanting to smack Diddy.

Numerous people have sued Diddy for alleged sexual misconduct and physical abuse. Additionally, surveillance video from 2016 showed the Bad Boy Entertainment founder assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel.

“I hope that I see Sean one day and the only thing I want to do is slap the daylights out of him — and you can quote me on that,” Voletta Wallace told Rolling Stone magazine.

Wallace also said, “Because I liked him. I didn’t want to believe all the awful things, but I’m so ashamed and embarrassed.” The Notorious B.I.G. signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy label before being murdered on March 9, 1997.

On Friday (May 31), 50 Cent uploaded a screenshot of an article covering Voletta Wallace’s comments about Diddy. The Get Rich or Die Tryin’ album creator agreed with the 71-year-old grandmother.

“LOL [grinning squinting face emoji]. I WANT TO SLAP THE S### OUT OF HIM TOO,” 50 Cent wrote about Diddy in a now-deleted tweet. Previously, the producer of television shows like Power and BMF offered public support to Cassie Ventura.

Mike Tyson/Jake Paul Fight Postponed Over Health, Fans Erupt

Mike Tyson’s much-anticipated match against Jake Paul has been postponed after the boxing legend suffered a medical scare aboard a May 26 flight from Miami to Los Angeles.

During the journey, Tyson experienced intense nausea and dizziness due to an ulcer flare-up about 30 minutes before the plane landed.

Paramedics met the flight upon arrival. Tyson’s representatives later confirmed he is “doing great” and on the road to recovery.

Following a follow-up consultation on May 29, medical professionals recommended Mike Tyson undertake minimal training to avoid further health risks.

The health incident has delayed Tyson’s face-off with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, which was originally set for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Mike Tyson has been advised to limit his training while he recuperates to ensure that athletes compete at peak performance levels.

The match will be rescheduled, with a new date expected to be announced next week.

Both fighters have agreed that postponing the match is the fairest path forward to guarantee they each have adequate preparation time.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul supported the decision, acknowledging the importance of equal preparation time for such a high-stakes contest.

EXCLUSIVE: Diddy Hires Lawyer Who Defended Russian “Spy” Implicated In 2016 Election Interference

Diddy is facing at least eight civil lawsuits centering on various allegations of sexual and physical assault. One of them, filed by Joi Dickerson-Neal, is in its early stages. In court documents filed on Thursday (May 30) and viewed by AllHipHop, it was revealed the Bad Boy Entertainment mogul has hired Michael Tremonte of the law firm Sher Termonte LLC to handle the case.

Tremonte famously represented Rinat Akhmetshin, a notable figure in the Special Counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States Presidential election. Akhmetshin sued William Browder for defamation, alleging that Browder falsely accused him of being a Russian intelligence officer involved in subversive activities in the U.S.

Tremonte and Sher Tremonte LLP managed Akhmetshin’s defamation case. While the specifics of Tremonte’s role in the Special Counsel investigation aren’t publicly available, it’s confirmed that he successfully resolved the case with no charges filed against Akhmetshin, who was a significant target in the investigation.

Dickerson-Neal alleged Diddy drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1991. She lodged a complaint in Manhattan Supreme Court in November 2023. Her action came just one day before the expiration date of the New York State Adult Survivors Act. She also claimed Diddy participated in “revenge p###” against her. The footage was allegedly shared with his associates in the music industry.

She contends that the circulation of the video has been detrimental her health, reputation and professional opportunities. Her legal action follows the bombshell lawsuit filed by Cassie Ventura that same month.

According to the Sher Tremonte LLP website, Tremonte’s practice encompasses complex commercial disputes, securities and class action litigation, banking litigation, antitrust issues, accountants’ liability and employment law. His white collar defense focuses on federal and state criminal and regulatory investigations, covering securities, insurance, and accounting fraud, antitrust violations, improper trading, market manipulation, tax fraud and money laundering.

He’s successfully represented clients in public and private corruption investigations, including bribery and kickbacks in federal procurement and mismanagement of healthcare funding and employment benefit programs.

Tha Dogg Pound Reunites Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic” Crew: Snoop Dogg, Lady Of Rage & RBX

Daz Dillinger and Kurupt—collectively known as Tha Dogg Pound—returned with a new album called W.A.W.G. (We All We Got) on Friday (May 31).

The 14-track effort serves as the duo’s first Death Row Records album since their 1995 debut, Dogg Food. Snoop Dogg, meanwhile, contributes to roughly half of the songs on the album, making it a family affair. The final song, “Who Da Hardest?” features RBX, Snoop Dogg and The Lady of Rage, who contributed to Dr. Dre’s landmark debut, 1992’s The Chronic.

Overall, the project stays true to each artist’s West Coast gangsta rap roots, complete with clear nods to Parliament-Funkadelic. Some songs are slow (“Grown Up,” “The Weekend”), while others are certifiable bangers (“Favorite Color Blue,” “House Party”).

W.A.W.G. marks a significant moment in Tha Dogg Pound’s career, considering it’s their first collaboration with Snoop Dogg since their 2005 reunion.

In April, Daz Dillinger and Kurupt joined forces and dropped their single “Smoke Up” with Snoop Dogg to initiate the album rollout. Much like “Finesse” and “Bangin U Up,” the album was released on Gala Music, in addition to other major streaming platforms.

Prior to Tha Dogg Pound’s latest release, Snoop Dogg worked with Gala Music in 2022 during Super Bowl LIV in an effort to integrate a Web3 experience with a unique and immersive entertainment experience.

The result was their collaboration with Death Row Records, which manifested in the release of Snoop’s album, Bacc on Death Row (B.O.D.R.) on Gala’s platform. In addition to the release of the album, B.O.D.R. was also issued in the form of 25,000 exclusive NFT stash boxes.

As for W.A.W.G., check out the album below.

Ice-T Mocks “Weirdo” Lenny Kravitz Over Nine-Year Celibacy Revelation

Ice-T cannot understand why Lenny Kravitz has been celibate for nine years, branding the sexless spell “weirdo s###.”

The 60-year-old rock star recently revealed that he’s gone nearly a decade without a serious partner and is saving intimacy for the right woman after following in the footsteps of his promiscuous father.

On Thursday (May 30), Ice-T took to social media to roast Kravitz for abstaining for so long. “9yrs without Sex? F that BS. Weirdo s###,” he wrote on X (Twitter) in a since-deleted tweet.

However, Ice-T received pushback from his followers. “That’s wrong Ice! He’s not weird. That’s his own journey,” one person wrote, to which Ice replied, “F that Journey…. lol.”

Ice-T, who’s been with his wife, Coco Austin, since 2021, issued a PSA to any of his followers willing to remain celibate like Lenny Kravitz.

“Hey….. If you’re a Guy and you can voluntarily go 9yrs without sex… You’re following the wrong page,” he added.

When a user asked, “Why judge him though?” saying, “there are many humans who can & do abstain for long periods for various reasons,” Ice-T doubled down with “s###’s Weird to me. I love to F###. A lot.”

Speaking to The Guardian, Lenny Kravitz revealed he was devastated at learning his father, NBC news producer Sy Kravitz, was cheating on his mother, star of The Jeffersons, Roxie Roker.

His father told him he’d follow the same path, and Kravitz did after his marriage to actress Lisa Bonet broke down. “I didn’t want to be that guy,” he admitted and said he took “responsibility” and became disciplined.

Kravitz described his current celibacy journey as “a spiritual thing.” While he would love a new relationship, he confessed, “I have become very set in my ways.”

He also opened up about an experience he had at 13 years old with a much older woman.

“In today’s world, yes, that was abuse and assault,” he said. /”It was this chick who saw this young teenager and thought I was cute and I’m going to give him some. Any young boy would have taken that opportunity and enjoyed the hell out of it.”

Belly Pays Tribute To His Palestinian Roots With “96 Miles From Bethlehem” Charity Album

Palestinian-Canadian rapper/singer Belly released his new body of work, 96 Miles From Bethlehem, on Thursday (May 30) via Universal Arabic Music.

96 Miles From Bethlehem serves as a tribute project for Palestine. Residents of the Gaza Strip in the Palestinian territories have been facing constant military bombardment from the Israeli government.

Belly’s fourth studio LP features Palestinian artists Elyanna, Saint Levant, Ibrahim Maalouf and MC Abdul. All 96 Miles From Bethlehem profits will go to organizations supporting various Palestinian relief efforts.

The album’s title refers to Belly’s birthplace of Jenin, Palestine. That West Bank city is 96 miles from Bethlehem. His family later moved to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to escape poverty and violence.

An official music video for the 96 Miles From Bethlehem track “Patience vs. Patients” landed on YouTube on Tuesday (May 28). Belly also published an official lyric video for the entire 18-minute album.

Previously, Belly released three studio albums. For instance, See You Next Wednesday hit DSPs in August 2021 with features by The Weeknd, Nas, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna and others.

G-Eazy Reacts To Fans Questioning If He Fell Off

G-Eazy scored Top 10 hits with 2015’s “Me, Myself & I” and 2017’s “No Limit” singles. However, the 35-year-old rapper has not returned to the Top 10 in the 2020s.

The Oakland, California native discussed the downturn in his career while appearing on the Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast. G-Eazy addressed some of the negative fan reactions to his commercial decline.

“We had a great run, three albums in a row went platinum,” G-Eazy told the longtime Jackass cast member. He also said, “Then my mom died. And COVID, my mom passing, I just finally was like, ‘I need to reset.’”

G-Eazy’s These Things Happen (2014), When It’s Dark Out (2015) and The Beautiful & Damned (2017) each reached platinum status. These Things Happen Too (2021) ended his one-million-units-sold album streak.

“I needed to finally give myself a break and take some pressure off of the cycle of releasing music. And that comes at a risk,” the RCA recording artist stated.

He continued, “Then I’m reading the comments… ‘Damn, he fell off.’ I should not have done this, don’t ever Google yourself. One of the top suggested [questions] was ‘Is G-Eazy still making music?’ I was just like, ‘F### y’all! F### y’all!’”

G-Eazy also revealed his next full-length body of work will be titled Freak Show. “Femme Fatale” featuring Coi Leray and Kaliii as well as “Lady Killers III” will appear on the forthcoming project.

Bia Trolls Cardi B With Offset Quotes Following “Wanna Be” Diss

Bia is trolling Cardi B using Offset quotes after the NYC rapper dissed her on the remix of GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be.”

The bad blood has been brewing between the pair for some time, and Cardi even promised to “show ya something,” earlier this year after they traded subliminals. On Friday (May 31), she hopped on the “Wanna Be” remix with a message for the “Whole Lotta Money” hitmaker.

“Guess I’m a teacher since you wanna sub me/She did what? Had no idea/Thought she was on the shelf, IKEA/Hope she talk like that when I see her/B#### please, don’t nobody wanna be ya,” Cardi B raps on the track.

However, just hours after the song was released, Bia fired off some shots on X (Twitter), borrowing a line from Cardi B’s husband, Offset, on Gunna’s “Prada Dem.” “ION SEE THE CAP I GO RAY CHARLES BLIND,” she wrote, seemingly insinuating Cardi was lying.

Bia also appeared to quote a lyric from Offset’s “Clout,” which features Cardi B, although slightly fluffed the line. “BITCHS IS WACK. BITCHS IS TRASH,” she wrote. “I SHOULD HANG BITCHS RIGHT OVER MY KNEE, THE WAY I BE PUTTIN MY BELT TO THEY ASSSSSSSS.”

X/Bia

In a follow-up post, Bia added, “B#### you don’t want me in the booth I’m REALLY like that.”  Before signing off, she shared a viral clip featuring battle rapper Yoshi G implying Cardi B “crashed out.”

Last year, Bia denied having any issues with Cardi B despite rumors her collab with Nicki Minaj caused a rift.

“I didn’t switch up on anybody because I don’t know Cardi in real life,” Bia said. “I’ve never met Cardi, we’ve never had a conversation. Like, I don’t have no issues with her, it’s all love, but I don’t know her.”

Nonetheless, they traded jabs earlier this year after fans accused Cardi B of biting Bia’s style.

50 Cent Reacts To Donald Trump Guilty Verdict: “People Are Angry Out Here”

50 Cent shared his reaction to MAGA supporters furiously venting after Donald Trump’s guilty verdict in his hush money trial.

Trump was found guilty on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. He is the first U.S. president to ever be convicted of a crime.

On Thursday evening, 50 Cent took to Instagram with a video of raging Donald Trump supporters protesting outside the courthouse following the guilty verdict.

The crowd of MAGA-hat-wearing Trump supporters screamed profanities at the camera, claiming Trump is “not guilty” and complained justice was not served. One man predicted Trump would soar in the polls and declared, “It’s over for Biden, it’s over for the Democrats.”

Another person wearing a “Gays for Trump” shirt insisted Trump was “railroaded” and he “committed no crimes,” before calling for people to “take to the streets” and block traffic.

“Damn man people are angry out here FOR REAL,” 50 Cent captioned his post.

Donald Trump Vows To “Keep Fighting”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump, who faces possible jail time, told reporters he will “keep fighting” after leaving the courtroom. He proclaimed he was a “very innocent man” and said America had “gone to hell.”

He also said, “This was a rigged disgraceful trial,” and seemingly branded presiding Judge Juan Merchan as “conflicted.”

Despite his conviction, Donald Trump can still run for office and believes justice will be served at the ballot box. “The real verdict is going to be November 5 by the people,” he added.

The Biden campaign said in a statement, “In New York today, we saw that no one is above the law.” Biden-Harris campaign Communications Director Michael Tyler wrote, “Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain.”

Tyler added, “Today’s verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality. There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box. Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.”

Eminem Catches Heat For Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Reference In “Houdini”

Eminem is chatting some heat after name-dropping Megan Thee Stallion in his new track “Houdini.”

The song, the lead single from his forthcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) dropped at midnight ET on Friday (May 31). Eminem and “Houdini” quickly began trending, with fans commenting on the Megan Thee Stallion shooting reference.

“If I was to ask for Megan Thee/Stallion if she would collab with me/Would I really have a shot at a feat?” Em raps.

Many on social media called Eminem out, while others said this is typical Slim Shady. Some even suggested Megan Thee Stallion fire back with a diss of her own.

“I don’t even like Meg anymore but Eminem is so hateful and weird to women,” one X (Twitter) user wrote. “Always throwing shots at females but I’ve never seen him go toe to toe with a man. Weird ass.”

“I just want to know why Eminem felt the need to use Meg as collateral damage in his new washed up single,” another person wrote.

Meanwhile, some fans said Megan Thee Stallion would be “honored” Eminem dissed her.

“This generation don’t know who Eminem is and it shows,” an X (Twitter) user said. “He disses everybody it’s nothing new even Meg wouldn’t be offended she’ll be honored to be dissed by Eminem.”

Eminem Enlists Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg & More For “Houdini”—His First Single From New Album

Eminem released the first single from his forthcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), on Friday (May 31). Titled “Houdini,” the track is accompanied by a comic book-themed video starring Dr. Dre, Interscope Records’ co-founder Jimmy Iovine, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, The Alchemist, comedian Pete Davidson and more.

The cinematic offering begins with the old Eminem—also known by his alter-ego Slim Shady—getting a call from his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg. But Em lets it go to voicemail because he was, um, busy. The scene suddenly cuts to 2024 and Eminem waking up to a call from Dre, who says, “We have a problem.” Turns out, a portal from the year 2002 opened up and the old Eminem (aka Slim Shady) was able to escape.

From there, Dr. Dre scoops up the 51-year-old Marshall Mathers and they reimagine a scene from “Without Me,” with Em dressed as a super hero named “Rap Boy.” The shenanigans continue as Eminem raps about his past and present using commentary on censorship and touching on his drug addiction.

“Now, back in the days of old me (When?),” he spits. “Right around the time I became a dope fiend (Oh)/Ate some codeine as a way of coping (Mm)/Taste of opiates, case of O.E./Turned me into smiley face emoji (Woo)/My s### may not be age-appropriate/But I will hit an eight-year-old in the face with a participation trophy/’Cause I have zero doubts/That this whole world’s ’bout/To turn into some girl scouts/That censorship bureau’s out to (Shut me down).”

Eminem announced The Death of Slim Shady in April shortly after Eminem opened the 2024 NFL Draft in his hometown of Detroit. The announcement, which arrived via the NFR Podcast, included a teaser for the project starring 50 Cent. The concept revolved around an investigation into the murder of Slim Shady, Eminem’s longtime alter ego. The caption read simply, “EMINEM-THE DEATH OF SLIM SHADY. NEW ALBUM. SUMMER 2024.”

“Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” the reporter says in the clip. “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”

The project is expected to arrive sometime this summer. Until then, check out the video above to see how the story ends.

The Untold History of the Cross Joint

Few things dance across the stoner imagination like the fabled Cross Joint.

With its unique, interwoven design, three smoking ends and generally large payload, the Cross Joint is the perfect party pass-around, guaranteed to draw eyeballs and get everyone talking.

But where did this Holy Grail of Joints get its start and why has it captured the cannabis community’s collective fancy in a way few other non-traditional rolls have?

‘Pineapple Express’

The Cross Joint burst into the public consciousness in the 2008 stoner comedy “Pineapple Express,” starring Seth Rogen and James Franco and written by Rogen and his writing partner, Evan Goldberg.

Early in the movie, Rogen’s character is visiting Franco’s and finds on the table a fat joint with a second joint stuck perpendicularly through it to create a cross.

“You can smoke this?” he asks.

Franco’s character calls it “the future,” adding that it is the “apex of the vortex of joint engineering.” He says it’s rumored that famed Irish Civil Engineer Michael O’Shaughnessy designed the first one, though we should certainly take that with a grain of salt since he also says O’Shaughnessy designed the Golden Gate Bridge and he did not.

“What you do is you light all three ends at the same time and then the smoke converges, creating a trifecta of joint smoking power,” he tells Rogen. “This is what your grandchildren are going to be smoking.”

Convincing Rogen to help him light it (three hands are needed to do it properly…), Franco and Rogen fire up the Cross Joint and the movie’s plot begins to take off.

Rogen’s Admission

For most people, “Pineapple Express” marked the first time they’d even seen the Cross Joint, leading many to believe that Rogen and Goldberg created it, but in interviews since, Rogen has admitted that is not the case.

Answering questions from fans for a video for Wired magazine, Rogen notes that while he helped popularize the Cross Joint, he only wishes he had “the ingenuity to invent the cross joint.” Calling them a “party trick,” Rogen said he and his friends had a “book of novelty joints” and that the Cross Joint was one of the ones in the book.

We have found what we believe to be the book.

The “Handbook”

First published in 1994, “The Joint Rolling Handbook” – now widely available including on Amazon – is most likely the book that taught Rogen and his friends (who were in high school in the late 1990s) how to roll the Cross Joint.

The book, published by Bobcat Press, includes instructions on how to create 11 different novelty joints with names like “The Saturday Night Special,” “The Joker,” “The Flaming Backflip,” “The Diamond” (which features two joints separating and coming back together in a diamond shape), “Tulip” and, of course, “The Crossroads,” which appears to be the  basis for the Cross Joint.

The instructions in the book are a bit clunkier than the more refined advice that you can find today on how to roll a cross joint, since more people – including Rogen – have streamlined the rolling process in the wake of the Cross Joint’s growing popularity after the movie. But the basic idea and shape are still the same as was published 30 years ago.

Smoke Temple

Besides a slight simplification of the creation process and a proliferation of instructive texts on the internet, little else happened in the evolution of the Cross Joint in the 15 years since the release of “Pineapple Express.” That changed in 2023 when DaySavers perfected the Smoke Temple Cross Cone, making it so every stoner – not just engineers – could try one of these legendary smokes. Welcome, as Franco puts it, to “the Future.”

Made of high-quality rolling paper and pre-assembled for ease of use, the Smoke Temple Cross Cone is a mass-market, but hand-made cross version of the standard DaySavers pre-rolled cone, designed to be filled easily and enjoyed by everyone.

We’ve come a long way since the days of having to find an underground bookstore that carried the Handbook or having to crush paper after paper as you build one at home.

Perfect and easy to pack and share, the Smoke Temple Cross Cone truly democratizes the Cross Joint to make it something every smoker can enjoy, whether you get the Pineapple Express or the Snicklefritz. Simply pack your favorite ground flower into each of the three ends, twist or fold to close and you are ready to impress.

But though this new pre-rolled cone makes it easy to pack up one of these epic party favors at home, you may still need help from friends to get it lit.

And now you can also impress them with the history of these once-mythical cones. So grab a friend, a couple more lighters, and enjoy the trifecta of joint smoking power that is the Cross Joint!

EXCLUSIVE: DJ Envy Reveals Why He Was First NY DJ To Play Tupac Shakur’s “Hit Em Up” Diss

DJ Envy recalled how he upset Diddy and The Notorious B.I.G. in an interview with AllHipHop’s Chuck Creekmur. The Breakfast Club host explained why he was the first New York DJ to play Tupac Shakur’s diss track “Hit Em Up” on a mixtape during the East Coast vs. West Coast feud.

“I got that record first, and at the time, it was like I know a lot of DJs weren’t going to play it,” DJ Envy said. “At the time, I was behind everybody. When you talk about DJs, it was SNS, it was Craig G, it was [DJ] Clue, it was Kid Capri, just in the New York area. And I was like, ‘I need to get my foot in the door.’ And I was like I’m gonna play this record and then we’ll go from there. We’ll see what happens. So, they gave me the record and I said, ‘This is going to be one of the biggest mixtapes ever.’ And it went crazy. At the time, I know Big and Puff was mad, but I was getting my foot in the door and it was music. And that’s where it started.”

DJ Envy is one of the executive producers behind a new documentary titled Tale of the Tape. The film explores mixtapes’ role in Hip-Hop’s history.

“Growing up for us, music was everything,” DJ Envy said. “And I think that was part of the height of the mixtape game. Everybody was a mixtape DJ. We can go through it from Clue to Whoo Kid to Drama to you name it, Tony Touch … There was so many mixtape DJs but that was our soundtrack. That was when we started hearing blends and started hearing cutting and started hearing scratching. And we had cars. So, we wanted those tapes to be for the ride of the cars. And I just thought it was a lost art where people didn’t necessarily understand that.”

He continued, “Right now … anybody could be a DJ. As long as you can purchase a laptop, you can be a DJ. And that’s what you’re seeing. You’re seeing a lot of trash DJs. So, with this documentary, they recount where the mixtape DJs came from and the importance of a DJ. And it goes through everybody from Brucie B to Kid Capri to Clue to myself to Drama, to so many. It’s so many DJs, you can’t name ’em all. But it starts the story of that.”

Tale of the Tape is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video.
