Lil Durk Goes Latino, Annimeanz Has Some Questions About Mexicans In Hip-Hop

On our Instagram page, a lot of people went crazy after an interview with Annimeanz questioned why Black people are not loving towards Mexican people in Hip-Hop. The conversation took a bunch of wild twists and turns as people went back-and-forth over the idea. Some of it was productive in other parts of it was downright ignorant. Nevertheless, it seemed to get the party started from a cultural standpoint. You know, there’s a lot of history here between us black and brown people. We need to get unified!

That said, I think you should check out this interview because it’s very interesting to hear what Annimeanz feels and this conversation with our own Chuck Creekmur is one for the ages.

However, right on Cinco de Mayo, Lil Durk made the stunning revelation (sources say) that he has signed his first Latino rapper. This is a stark contrast from what his Los Angeles brother was saying, the Black people don’t give love back to Mexican people. Well it looks like Lil Durk is already one step ahead. It looks like he has just signed this guy by the name of…CALI TEE.

But check out the sounds!

One thing I’ll say about this guy, is that he doesn’t have any particular Mexican style to his music or anything. It basically sounds like everyone else in the current iteration of Hip-Hop. And that is no disrespect, I just don’t hear the Latino in the music. I am not sure if that is what folks want to hear or see, but nevertheless, he is Latino. These are good steps forward I think. I am not sure if that is a step towards progress or just business and hood ties.

So what is your take on all of this? I don’t see any issues between Black and Brown, but if there are issues then we need to work it out. A lot of the stuff people are saying is the unfortunate result of gang circumstances that are beyond your average every day person’s control.

And if you look at people like to pot, he’s always taught unity between Black and Brown communities. So let’s stay focused on the broader picture!

Breeding Ground Update: Annimeanz Drops More Dope In The Name Of “Chicano Rap”

Did Childish Gambino Steal “This Is America?” You Be The Judge!

Childish Gambino, also known as Donald Glover, is being sued for stealing someone’s song, and the deep part about it is that the comedian-actor-turned-rapper might have done it.

According to a court document obtained by AllHipHop.com, another rapper named Kidd Wes says that he released a song in 2016 entitled “Made in America,” and Gambino’s GRAMMY award-winning song, “This is America,” is a straight rip off!

And he wants to get paid!

In addition to Gambino, his record label, Roc Nation, and Young Thug have been named in the document.

Kidd Wes’ government name is Emelike Nwosuocha and his song appeared on SoundCloud almost two years before Gambino’s song was released.

The digital trail is clear: he debuted it on the streaming platform in September of 2016, released the video not long after, and then registered it with the U.S Copyright Office in May 2017.

Kid Wes, according to the filing, says that the hook of the Gambino’s chart-topper, “unmistakably substantially similar, if not practically identical” to his song. AllHipHop.com listened to both tracks and it seems like Wes might be onto something.

Wes’ “Made is America” does have a staccato type of flow that is duplicated on “This is America.”

Kidd Wes rhymes “Made in America / Flex on the radio / Made me a terrorist / Pessimistic n##### / You should just cherish this”

Gambino then says, “This is America / Guns in my area / I got the strap / I gotta carry ’em”

BREAKING: Investigators Believe 40 Cal’s Daughter Saniyya Dennis Committed Suicide

The search for 40 Cal’s daughter may end in tragedy, according to the Erie County District Attorney.

40 Cal’s, a battle rapper who was once associated with The Diplomats, has been in a desperate search for his daughter Saniyya Dennis since April 24th.

Saniyya went missing from her dormitory at Buffalo State College, sparking an intense, 12-day search for the sophomore.

But now District Attorney John Flynn said all of the evidence has led investigators to believe the 19-year-old committed suicide.

A review of Saniyya’s phone records revealed she called her ex-boyfriend 66 times and sent a text saying “I’m not feeling good – I think I’m going to kill myself.” The video surveillance captured Saniyya on a bus, which was heading to Goat Island near Niagara Falls.

According to phone logs, Saniyya had a 45-minute chat with another male friend and told him she was planning to jump off and into Niagara Falls. The male friend told investigators that he thought he had talked her out of taking her own life.

“She was troubled over the breakup of her boyfriend, obviously, she was troubled over the circumstances that that happened that day. Everyone reacts differently to crisis in their lives depending on your age depending on your background [and] depending on what’s going on in your life,” Flynn said.

Phone records revealed Saniyya arrived on Goat Island around 1:30 a.m. on April 25th. And, investigators used K9s to follow Cynthia’s scent, and when they reached an area called Luna Island, the dogs tried to jump over a railing and into the waters below, to follow her scent.

The overwhelming evidence seems to point to a tragedy – Saniyya took her own life.

“An exhaustive search has been done and an exhaustive review of the records and evidence has been conducted and it appears that this poor girl took her own life,” D.A. John Flynn said. “Now some are going to say well ‘I mean Mr Flynn without a body I mean do you definitively know that she took her own life?’ And my answer is ‘no of course not, I can’t definitively say that at all, that she took her own life.’ All I can do is present you with what I have and I presented everything I had to her parents yesterday afternoon.

“Everything I just told you and gave you I gave to her parents yesterday afternoon. And obviously, without a body, without an autopsy being done, we’re never going to definitively know. So like I said to the parents, all I can do is be honest with you. I respect you, I’m not going to sugarcoat this at all. I’m going to tell you the God’s honest truth of what I have and this is what I have,” Flynn continued.

“There is a possibility that we may never find a body,” Flynn continued choking back tears. “There is possibility that she may be caught in those jagged rocks and if she is that’s going to be horrible for the parents. I feel awful for the parents. I feel awful that I don’t have a conclusion and that I can’t give these parents their daughter. But that’s what we have.”

However, the investigation into Saniyya’s disappearance will remain open and will not be closed until her body is found, which may never happen due to jagged rocks, and rushing water of Niagara Falls, which surrounds Luna Island.

“Let me reiterate. Do I hope that I look like a fool and she shows up somewhere? Yeah, gosh make me look like a fool, I don’t care. I hope she shows up. And God willing we can get this girl some help,” District Attorney John Flynn said.

Regardless of genre or time constraints, Birmingham-born Rap Legend 205 delivers on his promise of creating the “Shortest Freestyle Ever” and making it shine through his latest single. Legend has already become a shining star in the local Birmingham artists circle, and with his latest drop, he’s taking steps towards the next stage of his career: sharing his talent with the rest of the world beyond Birmingham.

“Shortest Freestyle Ever” is less than a minute-long, but it showcases the strength and talent of Rap Legend 205 as both a rapper and lyricist. The lyrics are reminiscent of other hit rap songs of the past, and the song itself wouldn’t be out of place with a top 20s hit. The theme of making it in the industry regardless of societal expectations and adversities on the way to the top is prevalent throughout the upbeat, fast-paced track.

The production is seamlessly clean even through the intensity of the tempo, and Rap Legend 205 addresses his strategy to making it big, as well — he simply states he “puts his heart in his music” regardless of the troubles that those who don’t believe in his aspirations may cause for him. His exceptional talent shines through every second of the short track, keeping listeners captivated through its furious rhymes and wondering if he stopped to breathe at all during that minute.

His recent single “Shortest Freestyle Ever” further establishes that there is no one quite like Rap Legend 205 in the game. He proves his worth through showcasing his genre-bending musical abilities, through his magical ability to invoke sensory imagery through the image of a car-crash within a rap that is only a few minutes long. It is clear to see where Rap Legend 205 is headed, but the mountain of success is a difficult climb for anyone, even those who are aware of the repercussions that such triumphs may come with.

Rap Legend 205 expresses how entirely aware he is of how fast-paced the industry he’s in is, and how volatile a music career can be in the ever-changing environment. He also showcases his strength of will to keep holding on tight to his music through all the car crashes that may ensue. He’s in it to win it, and more than willing to play the long game.

As he keeps releasing music under his new label across all music platforms, Rap Legend 205 is truly forming a sound and a fanbase that is uniquely and distinctively his own. His strength of will and dedication to creating what sets his heart ablaze is what truly differentiates him in the music scene today.

Snoop Dogg Planning Bash For Playas To Celebrate His 50th

Snoop Dogg is organizing a “player’s ball party” to commemorate his 50th this October.

The rapper hits the milestone on October 20th and he informed People he’s already developing concepts to mark his big day.

“I’m probably going to do a player’s ball party where everybody can be dressed up, give away some awards, have some good musical performances, you know what I’m saying?” he said. “I’m old school. So I just need my event to be wholesome and nice, where people can leave there saying, ‘I had the time of my life.’”

As for the dress code during the night, Snoop added: “Everybody has to dress up, you can’t just get in here. You got to actually spend some time on your look, your outfit. The whole nine (yards).”

And while some folks may be nervous about turning 50, Snoop has a more confident view on reaching the half-century mark.

“You got to treat yourself like fine wine. They say fine wine, it gets better over time,” Snoop Dogg explained. “You got to look at it as you get older, you get wiser, and how to treat yourself, treat others. You learn what life is about. So every precious day you here to actually live another day, you should make the most of it. That’s what I focus on the most — trying to be the best version of me every day.”

Wacotron Talks Learning Song Structure From Southside & Debut Project “Smokin Texas”

Wacotron loves his hometown so much, he put it in his name.

Straight out of Waco, Texas, the rising star has already achieved milestones in his career such as collaborating with famed producer Southside of 808 Mafia and signing to Pick Six Records.

Boasting his own dedicated fanbase, Waco sees music as an outlet to express himself: venting and touching on all the struggles he went through as a kid from the streets of Waco.

Waco describes himself as “a stand down n####, a n#### that’s dedicated. Hard work, that’s me. This is what hard work looks like.”

With an impeccable flow and vivid storytelling in his lyrics, Wacotron recently unleashed his highly-anticipated debut project titled Smokin Texas, executive produced by Southside.

The 12-track project features the Marshmello-produced lead single “Cut Me Up,” along with a lone feature from G Herbo. Waco isn’t here for any handouts; he’s here to grind and perfect his craft any chance he can.

AllHipHop: What was the reality of growing up in Waco?

Wacotron: It was an everyday struggle trying to maintain and make something out of nothing. You gotta keep your head about water damn near. N##### don’t even make it up out this b####. They’ll pull you down left and right out here. I f##### with my nggas. A ngga got in trouble and s###: being bad, a little bit of everything. Only the strong survive.

AllHipHop: Who were you listening to growing up?

Wacotron: Z-Ro for one, always. Yo Gotti, T.I., all the legends.

AllHipHop: When did you realize you could do music for a living?

Wacotron: 2016, that’s when I told myself I’ma take it serious. F### it, go head first with this s###. I made a song. I did my first song, it was called “Too Playa.” I dropped that b#### and everybody liked it. That s### went crazy. Everybody was on it. I thought “damn, that s### was kind of easy. Let me see if I keep doing this s###, where’s it gonna take me?” That s### took me somewhere.

AllHipHop: Talk about your name Wacotron.

Wacotron: S###, that’s where I’m from. I haven’t ever been anywhere else. It’s where I come from, what I represent. My dead partna, my n#### PJ really gave me that name. He said I sound like a robot when I talk and when I rap, so he gave me that name and I ran with it.

AllHipHop: How’s it feel to be signed to Pick Six Records?

Wacotron: Pick Six Records is under Moe Shalizi. You got Marshmello, Morray, Southside of course. Shout out to Sizzle. It’s a lot of great people over there.

AllHipHop: How does it feel to have your debut project, Smokin Texas, out now?

Wacotron: For real, Big Texas man! That’s something I say on the daily anyways. Smokin Texas, that’s my slang. I made it my little slogan, smokin’ good weed! We don’t smoke no bad weed. I feel good everyday about this s###, I gotta keep working and see how far it takes me. It might be a Smokin Texas 2022, you never know.

AllHipHop: You re-released it, correct?

Wacotron: 2016 is when I first started rapping. My first project I put out originally was called Smokin Texas, but ain’t nobody heard that. Now, I got the eyes and ears of the world. For me to name it again, I can get it to everybody now and not miss a beat on it. Everybody knows what it is, I had to give it to them again.

AllHipHop: How did you link Southside?

Wacotron: Through my n#### Moe. He put us in the studio, we started going HAM in this b####. Straight like that, right off the bat!

AllHipHop: What’s the vibe working with him?

Wacotron: I be lit on the inside, but I can’t show it. I gotta keep working, I can’t slack right now. This is really still tryouts right now. I’m looking at it like I gotta still prove myself. I can’t be too excited, I gotta keep working.

AllHipHop: What did you learn from?

Wacotron: He taught me how to structure my songs. I’m used to not even put a hook in there, I’ll run the whole beat sometimes. He said “you can take your hardest bars in the song and you can make that your hook, make that the chorus now.” He taught me how to structure my songs, I didn’t have that at first. I was just running with it, I know how to put it together now.

AllHipHop: What’s the best memory from that session?

Wacotron: “Cut Me Up” was the first one. He really skipped the beat when we first went in there, he’s letting me hear the beats. He’s going through them, I said “nah I don’t like that one. Nah I don’t like that one.” Then I heard that “Cut Me Up,” he skipped it and kept going. I said “nah, go back that one.” I don’t think he wanted to go to that one, he was tryna save it for someone else. So he kept going, he played a couple more. I said “hell nah, go back to that one. I like that one right there!” I remember that like it was nothing. That beat almost didn’t get recorded on, I’ll never forget that.

AllHipHop: What song means the most to you and why?

Wacotron: “Cut Me Up” because that‘s my first impression. That’s the first thing I recorded, that b#### means a lot to me. I put a lot into that song that night. I wrote it right there on the spot. I think I had a little bit ready, I had 12 bars ready and I wrote the rest up in there.

AllHipHop: How is music a coping mechanism for you?

Wacotron: S###, that’s how I keep going through the day. Sometimes I might be feeling down, but that music will put you right back where you need to be. It puts you in that mode: go and get that dollar real quick. F### that other s###, I gotta go and get the dollar. Sometimes a n#### be too mad to go and get the dollar, but cut the right s### on and it’ll take you right to the dollar. Most people might not see it like that but I love music. It ain’t even about me rapping. Music gets me through the day, I gotta hear that s###. I’ll go crazy. I can’t go 24 hours without hearing nothing.

AllHipHop: How much do you smoke in a day?

Wacotron: I smoke a lot, not gonna lie. I don’t keep count, but them hoes don’t stop getting rolled though. If I’m by myself, 7 or 8. But if I leave and go f### with my n*ggas, we put them blunts in the air man. If I go a week f###### with my n#####, pulling up on them over there, we probably smoke 25 of them hoes a day.

AllHipHop: Do you like Indica or Sativa?

Wacotron: I don’t give a damn, as long as I get high. F### all that other s###.

AllHipHop: Someone you want to work with that you haven’t yet?

Wacotron: Yo Gotti, I gotta do a song with that n#### man. I got to. Him and Z-Ro. I want to do a song with Z-Ro and Yo Gotti. Every time somebody asks me about my favorite rappers, I say that s### off the musical. I know they tired of hearing this s###.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CMcVzRonok3/

AllHipHop: What are those convos with Boosie like?

Wacotron: He let me know when I did talk to him that he heard my s### and that s### was fire. He said “yeah, I f### with that s###.” Real recognize real. I didn’t get to sit down and have no long conversation with him.

AllHipHop: Any goals that you have for yourself?

Wacotron: Nah, I like to gamble so we gonna see where this s### go.

AllHipHop: What do you want fans to get from Smokin Texas?

Wacotron: That there’s a Part 2 coming out. I ain’t gonna stop putting them out, I’ma put them out everytime. I ain’t gon’ stop. I got more songs than socks, I ain’t bullshittin’.

AllHipHop: How’s fatherhood?

Wacotron: It’s good, this ain’t my first rodeo. This my second, just had a newborn 2 days ago and I got a 9-year-old daughter.

AllHipHop: Does she know that daddy’s a rapper?

Wacotron: Hell yeah. She’s expensive. [laughs] She likes what I done showed her, I don’t show her everything.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want to let the people know?

Wacotron: Be on the lookout for that Smokin Texas 2. It’s going up! I ain’t quitting. I’m going long. I’m going strong.

Saweetie Getting Over Quavo By Working And Planning To Make $900 Million

Saweetie hurled herself into her craft to aid in healing her broken heart following her split from fellow rapper Quavo.

The “Tap In” hitmaker announced her breakup with the Migos star in March and in a Twitter statement, insinuated Quavo’s cheating had led to the breakdown of their nearly three-year affair – claims he dismissed.

Saweetie Says Quavo Was Intimate With Other Women And Confirms Break Up

Now Saweetie has opened up regarding the failed relationship in a frank cover interview for W Magazine.

She was happy to direct her attention to the publication’s photoshoot on the very day she went public with the announcement.

“I’ve learned that the world doesn’t stop for anybody. And it’s for sure not going to stop for me just because I got my heart broke,” she said. “I was grateful to be doing the photo shoot. I was like, ‘I can deal with all this later.'”

Saweetie revealed her busy schedule became her savior while she sought to cope with the agony of the breakup.

“Work is what I love most,” Saweetie explained. “What separates the greats from the pack is endurance. And resilience I could give my attention to something that could drain me or I could focus on what would empower me. And that is this shoot.”

Prosecutors Decline To File Charges Against Quavo & Saweetie Over Elevator Fight

The hip-hop star had already been giving extra attention to specific goals she wanted to establish for her future throughout the COVID shutdown.

Saweetie is intending to take action to transform her dreams into reality.

“In quarantine, I did a lot of mood-boarding. I had mood boards for fashion, music, and lifestyle,” Saweetie revealed.

“Lifestyle would be, what kind of cars do I want to have? What kind of house? When do I want to have kids? If I want to be a fashion girl, how far do I go with that? If you want to be successful, you have to be detailed in life.”

She has since become set on becoming a business tycoon and intends to one day hit a net worth of $900 million.

“I look at Rihanna. I look at Kylie (Jenner). I look at all the girls who are working in the worlds that I’m in,” she continued. “I kind of averaged out the money between all these women I admire, and $900 million is the number. So if I’m having a bad day, I’m just like, ‘$900 million, girl! Go!'”

Serena Williams’ New Look Gets People A-Talking!

https://www.instagram.com/p/COhazKMBbmp/

Photoshop or no?

People are making a big deal out of Serena Williams face, or what they think is her face. The superstar tennis player recently posted a picture of her and her husband, but there has been some speculation about her features. Be clear, Serena Williams is a beautiful woman and is physically amazing to look at. The only thing is she recently seem to take on a lighter complexion, and I think that’s what people are homing in on.

There’s always something right?

Now these comments won’t be seen in the newssection on Google or various other outlets, but in the underworld of gossip and social media, they are talking a lot. When you look at it, side-by-side, it does seem like there have been some changes through the years. Could this be lighting, or could this be in effort to beautify herself as she is no longer a tennis player? I am not sure.

Then there is the elephant in the room: her white husband. I don’t want to get into the politics of race in this post, but it certainly seems to be an undercurrent of conversation with a lot of people. Nevertheless, if you go through the pictures in Google images and just do a side-by-side to me is simply looks like she has lightened her skin, grab some bad wigs and needs a stylist badly. And you guys know I am not that kind of a guy when it comes to hair and make up, and things of that sort. But these are glaring things that people are noticing and if you look at her next to her sister Venus they don’t even look related anymore.

Again this is not an effort to down her or anything like that but just to address what people are saying in the gossip blogs and social media back rooms. Some of them are funny though!

Here are some of here official pictures.

Skaiwater Unveils ‘Happy Hour’ Mixtape & “Emani” Visual

London-based newcomer Skaiwater, who calls Lil Nas X a close friend and collaborator, drops his first full-length mixtape Happy Hour and music video for track “Emani” today.

The Cinematic Music Group signee spent a year and a half working on the project that features 11 tracks, spearheaded by the lead single “Work!” featuring Lil Keed, which was released last month.

Inspired by acid trips, antidepressants, and dissociation from reality, the mixtape was Skaiwater’s distraction from the pandemic. He states, “ I felt the need to just make a project that distracts from all of the s### going on.”

For the “Emani” visual, Skaiwater picked a director from his hometown to create a more intimate feel about a girl the 20-year-old knew last year.

“The song is about a promise some people make when they come up is to bring up the people around you, but sometimes a person isn’t cut to receive whatever help you’re willing to give them.”

Skaiwater will also release 11 art pieces and a total of 22 NFTs starting this Friday via WAX and Treasureland.

Trey Songz Accused Of Beating Down Bartender At Cardi B Show

Trey Songz is facing another legal problem over a public quarrel, a week after prosecutors in Missouri refused to proceed with charges following an alleged altercation with a cop at a football game.

Lawmakers concluded there was not sufficient proof against the R&B star to press on with their case following a fight at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in January, during the American Football Conference title match between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.

Now a Los Angeles bartender has filed litigation against the “Bottoms Up” hitmaker.

The plaintiff insists he was attacked by Trey Songz during Cardi B’s appearance at the Hollywood Palladium on May 9th, 2019 because he asked the singer to get down off the bar, as he sat trying to view the show.

According to the legal documents, Trey disregarded the bartender’s warning that he wasn’t supposed to be sitting on the bar and supposedly hit him as he attempted to get his attention.

The bartender maintains he sustained physical pain and emotional and psychological damage as a result of the alleged attack, and he’s suing for damages.

DMX’s Final Interview To Air As Part Of TV One’s ‘Uncensored’ Series

Earl “DMX” Simmons passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 50. The Yonkers, New York native left an undeniable impression on Hip Hop and pop culture. Before his death, the rap legend filmed content for Uncensored.

The DMX episode of the Swirl Films-produced docuseries is set to premiere Sunday, May 16 at 8 pm ET on TV One. According to the cable network, the Uncensored program will include X’s last official interview.

“At the same time I was launching my career, I had no idea we were also launching a movement,” says DMX in a trailer for Uncensored. The musician/actor also states, “I’m gonna look back on my life before I go and thank God for every moment.”

The East Coast representative was an integral part of Ruff Ryders Entertainment which was also the onetime label home of The Lox’s Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, and Styles P as well as Philadelphia-bred emcee Eve. Ruff Ryders became one of the most popular Hip Hop collectives in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

DMX sold over 74 million records worldwide. His discography consists of five #1 albums, including the 1998 studio LPs It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood.

Last month, “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” posthumously became DMX’s highest-charting Hot 100 entry when the track peaked at #16 on the weekly tally. Plus, the Best Of DMX compilation saw a 499% increase in streams and jumped to #2 on the Billboard 200 album chart for the week after his death.

Epic Records recently released “Been to War” as part of the Godfather of Harlem season 2 soundtrack. The single features contributions by the late DMX, his longtime music producer/friend Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean, and Bronx-bred rapper French Montana.

Uncensored: DMX will air directly before the 2021 Urban One Honors. Gospel artist/radio personality Erica Campbell and journalist/author Roland Martin are hosting the annual tribute show dedicated to highlighting the accomplishments and contributions of African-American women.

Meek Mill Shares First Photo Of His 1-Year-Old Son Czar

It appears Meek Mill (born Robert Rihmeek Williams) was feeling like a proud father yesterday (May 5). The Dream Chasers Records leader and REFORM Alliance Co-Chair uploaded an early birthday photograph of his infant child to Instagram.

“Happy bday Czar. Love you. Tomorrow your first big day!!!! 💎💎💎💎💎💎💎 Can’t wait to see you love you!!!” wrote Meek Mill in the picture’s caption on Wednesday. This was the first time the Philadelphia-raised emcee showed his youngest son’s face on social media.

Baby Czar via Meek Mill’s Instagram

Meek Mill and Czar actually share the same birthday. The dad was born on May 6, 1987. Fashion designer Milan “Milano” Harris gave birth to Czar on May 6, 2020. Last year, the former couple’s relationship came to an end just months after Czar was born.

“Me and Milano decided to remain friends and build our child as separate parents… We still have mad love for each other but we both came to [an] understanding,” wrote Meek in a now-deleted Instagram post. “No fallout either just moving forward! Still love! This for protection so social media won’t think we moving wrong.”

Prior to dating Milano, Meek was in a very public relationship with fellow recording artist Nicki Minaj for two years. News of the “All Eyes On You” musical partners’ breakup came to light in January 2017. After Meek and Nicki began seeing other people, there were several combative social media and real-life incidents involving the two rappers.

While Czar will deservedly be the center of attention for his loved ones today, he was not the only Hip Hop kid to make headlines this week. Meek Mill’s rival-turned-collaborator Drake shared an Instagram video of his 3-year-old son Adonis being captivated by the skills of NBA All-Star LeBron James. The clip went viral online.

Prosecutors Decline To File Charges Against Quavo & Saweetie Over Elevator Fight

Both Quavious “Quavo” Marshall and Diamonté “Saweetie” Harper are likely breathing a sigh of relief this week. Apparently, the former celebrity couple is not facing charges for a widely-publicized physical altercation between the two stars.

TMZ reports that the L.A. City Attorney’s Office will not be seeking criminal indictments against Quavo or Saweetie. According to the outlet, law enforcement sources claim there is not enough evidence to secure a conviction for either recording artist.

News of the year-old incident broke in March after footage of the “Emotional” collaborators scuffling inside an elevator spread across social media. Additional details about the confrontation were never made public, but the Los Angeles Police Department reportedly investigated the matter.

“We had an unfortunate situation almost a year ago that we both learned and moved on from. I haven’t physically abused Saweetie and have real gratitude for what we did share overall,” stated Quavo.

Saweetie said, “This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on.”

Quavo and Saweetie began dating in 2018, and they quickly became one of the most talked-about twosomes in the contemporary music industry. Their romantic relationship ended earlier this year.

“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women,” tweeted Saweetie in March.

Quavo responded on Twitter, “I know you want to make this into a show so I’ll play my part just this one time. I don’t normally put my business out there, especially my personal life. I feel the need to address this so there are no false narratives.”

One-third of the Atlanta-based Hip Hop group known as Migos added, “I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best🙏🏼.”

Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival Sells Out In Under An Hour

It looks like Travis Scott supporters are really excited to see the multi-platinum Hip Hop artist live in concert. All of the available tickets for Scott’s Astroworld Festival went on sale yesterday (May 5) and were gone in less than 60 minutes.

The entire weekend event quickly sold out before the official list of performers was even announced. Over 100,000 festivalgoers are expected to make their way to NRG Park in Houston, Texas on November 5 and November 6.

Travis Scott will be the headliner for the 2021 edition of the Astroworld Festival. The 29-year-old Cactus Jack Records founder is solely selecting the lineup for the festival. Additional performers will be revealed at a later date.

Named after the now-defunct amusement park that was once located in Scott’s hometown, the 2021 Astroworld Festival adopted the theme “Open Your Eyes To A Whole New Universe.” A portion of the proceeds from the showcase will be donated to the Astroworld Festival’s official charity partner, the Cactus Jack Foundation.

Fans of the popular rapper/producer should expect to have a new collection of tunes before the Astroworld Festival takes place in November. Travis Scott is said to be currently working on his upcoming fourth studio LP Utopia.

The highly-anticipated project will be the follow-up to 2018’s Grammy-nominated Astroworld album. That effort hosted the Hot 100 #1 single “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake as well as tracks such as “Stargazing,” “Stop Trying to Be God,” and “Butterfly Effect.”

Since the release of Astrowold, Travis Scott also reached the top of Billboard‘s Hot 100 with the singles “Highest in the Room,” “The Scotts” with Kid Cudi, and “Franchise” featuring M.I.A. and Young Thug. This year he connected with Erica Banks for “Buss It (Remix)” and Baby Keem for “Durag Activity.”

In addition to topping the bill for the Astroworld Festival, Travis Scott is also set to co-headline Rolling Loud Miami 2021. He will be joined at the Florida-based event by other music acts like A$AP Rocky, Post Malone, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, DaBaby, Young Thug, and Megan Thee Stallion.

Tory Lanez: I Don’t Care About Repairing An Image That People Tried To Smear

Daystar “Tory Lanez” Peterson is still facing assault and firearms charges for his alleged involvement in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. According to Lanez, he is not concerned about his public image at the moment.

Many music fans have chosen to stop supporting Tory Lanez as a result of the July 12, 2020 incident in Hollywood Hills, California. The Canadian singer/rapper took to Twitter on Wednesday night to let the world know he is not looking for redemption.

“When I do something nice it’s genuinely out of the love of my heart and the pain I feel for people in need… I don’t care about repairing an image that people tried to smear and couldn’t,” tweeted Lanez. “All I can do is play my part. And I’m proud of the part I play.”

Megan Thee Stallion publicly named Tory Lanez as the person who caused the bullet wounds in her feet. However, the 28-year-old Daystar album creator repeatedly suggested he was not the person that shot the Houston-raised rapstress.

In addition, Lanez used his Daystar project to address the shooting allegations which led to critics accusing the “Sorry But I Had To…” performer of gaslighting his fans. He also dissed detractors, like DreamDoll and J.R. Smith, on the LP.

Lanez’s Daystar album opened with just 36,000 first-week units which landed him at #10 on the Billboard 200 album chart, the lowest debut on those rankings for his career. Following that premiere last September, Lanez later released Loner in December 2020 and Playboy in March 2021.

A lawyer representing Megan Thee Stallion told Page Six that there was evidence that directly implicated Lanez as the shooter that night. Attorney Alex Spiro said, “Did the motion fail to mention that there was gunshot residue on his hands or that he texted her ‘Sorry?’ I haven’t had a chance to read it.”

Megan and her team maintained representatives for Tory Lanez were spreading false stories about her and the July 12 shooting. In January, she tweeted, “Y’all still don’t see an ABUSER picking with me? The first court date got pushed back [because] of the inauguration but I can’t wait until the MF FACTS come out! B#### you shot me AND MY STORY NOT CHANGING AND B#### YOU GOING TO JAIL.”

Tory Lanez was charged with assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to all counts. The One Umbrella label founder was ordered not to contact Megan. If convicted, Lanez reportedly faces a maximum state prison sentence of 22 years and eight months.

Kendrick Lamar, Roddy Ricch Pour Millions Into EngineEars App Created By MixedbyAli

One of the biggest problems that artists encounter is that they forget that show business is 99% about business.

That’s where Derek “MixedbyAli” Ali comes in.

As the founder and CEO of EngineEars he has created a digital platform that informs music creatives about the business tools to help navigate the administrative details of their careers.

Mad people are excited about this venture and have signed up to invest their money into the company during its initial round of funding, hoping it will take off like so many other fintech companies launching during the pandemic.

Names like Kendrick Lamar, Roddy Ricch, Russ, Mustard, DJ Khaled, YG, Ella Mai, Bas, Smino, Masego, Cardogotwings, Young Guru, Kenny Beats, Ibrahim Hamad of Dreamville, La Mar Taylor of XO, Meko Yohannes of 10Summers, and brands like indie-record label EQT are among the first to dump $1 million into the EngineEars.

The round was led by Los Angeles venture capital firm Slauson & Co..

But what is EngineEars exactly?

According to a statement from the company, “EngineEars is a new technology platform that supports the full spectrum of an engineer’s business, from acquiring clients through facilitating a mix and handling finances. This includes scheduling of mixing time and streamlining of the mixing process, handling pricing negotiation, storing and archiving project files, and most importantly connecting engineers and independent artists.”

Through the platform, engineers will be able to zip through the tedious steps before you get into the studio and be able to concentrate on getting the music right.

Kendrick Lamar sums up why he invested in the company, “Quality of sound is still important in music. Ali has always been a progressive thinker. EngineEars will transcend the culture.”

Annimeanz Wonders Why More Mexicans Aren’t Embraced By Hip-Hop

Annimeanz is a successful artist of Mexican descent, even though he is decidedly Los Angeles. But, that does not tell the whole story about him, as an independent artist. He makes classic West Coast music, highly influenced by the lyricists of the East Coast and the cultural hodge podge makes for a very unique individual.

Annimeanz, derivative of “by any means,” impresses as somebody that has little to lose and everything to gain. He does not mince his words politically, a Donald Trump supporter that rejects both Biden and Harris. He ponders why Hip-Hop does not show more love to Mexican rap artists, recognizing the impact Latinos have had on the culture. Moreover, he backs his views up, tool and nail. “The relationship between Black and Latinos is not equal,” he said “You will never seen a Black artist playing for a feature, putting them on their albums. In my opinion, the Mexican artist is always searching and chasing the acceptance from the Black artist that the are not getting.”

But Annimeanz’s politics and opinions mask things like his drive to succeed.

His dad was in jail for 95% of most of his young life and his mother came up hard. After going through some the hood rituals, he came into Hip-Hop in the Cudahy section of LA. With a huge “Devils” tat on the top of his head, representative of his clique, he’s lived through a number of incarnations. Now a man of God, he’s no longer in the street. “All Glory goes to the one true God…once you understand the part that God plays in your life, you fall in line,” he said. And yet, he learned honor from dope boys.

Annimeanz talks to AllHipHop’s Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur about his come up,his bold business moves and where his indie hustle is taking him. Cudahy Dopeboy 3 is out now and he’s already working on the next one.

A no-holds barred convo. Check it out.

Kim Kardashian Vows To Find Thieves Who Sold Her Stolen Ancient Statue

In today’s episode of problems that only Kardashians have, Kim Kardashian has been asked by the United States government to “forfeit” an ancient limestone statue from antiquitous Rome that she purchased five years ago.

Apparently, according to an archeologist from Italy’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the antique is a stolen good that was “looted, smuggled, and illegally exported from Italy.”

The sculpture is called “Fragment of Myron’s Samian Athena” from the Axel Vervoordt Gallery in Belgium and dates 1st or 2nd century.

When it arrived in Los Angeles in 2016, the Feds were alerted of the possibility of the art piece being what is considered a “protected cultural property.”

According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, during the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property first held in The Hague in 1954 and revisited in 1999, protected cultural properties are the safeguarding of “movable or immovable property of great importance to the cultural heritage of every people, such as monuments of architecture, art or history, whether religious or secular; archaeological sites; groups of buildings which, as a whole, are of historical or artistic interest; works of art; manuscripts, books and other objects of artistic, historical or archaeological interest; as well as scientific collections and important collections of books or archives or of reproductions of the property defined above.”

The Kardashian had received a $745,882, 5.5-ton shipment of 40 antiques and contemporary furniture to decorate one of her properties.

According to a complaint filed in California on Friday, the newly minted billionaire divorcee has to hand over the property in what is called a “civil forfeiture.”

But in a plot twist that smells suspiciously like an episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” her office states that she didn’t even buy this piece in question and the law student is ready to work with the government to find the real ancient boosters.

“Kim never purchased this piece and this is the first that she has learned of its existence. We believe it may have been purchased using her name without authorization and because it was never received, she was unaware of the transaction. We encourage an investigation and hope that it gets returned to the rightful owners.”

As a woman of Armenian descent, we are sure she would never want anything to do with the stealing of culture, a phenomenon that has left her own people stripped of its heritage.
