Illseed’s Quickies: Dave Chappelle, Bobby Shmurda, NBA Youngboy Calls Out NLE Choppa

Here are some rumors and not-so-rumors.

Dave Chappelle made a surprise return to San Francisco on Thursday night, performing at the Masonic Auditorium. However, he dissed the city and let them know he was highly disappointed with the current state of the city.

According to SFGATE, Chappelle asked, “What has happened to this place?” It should be noted that Dave has a long history of performing in San Francisco. During his set, he shared an incident where he witnessed someone taking a sh#t on the sidewalk in front of an Indian restaurant, where he had planned to have dinner.  He opted to pass on that.

Dave described the city as a combination of “Glee” (the show) and a zombie movie. He further asserted that the entire city now resembles the restaurant he was going to eat in.

Dave ended, “You n-words need a Batman!” emphasizing the need for someone to bring positive change to the city.

Bobby Shmurda Is Ready….

You guys think Bobby is ready to take the city back? He has a new song in the making and people seem to be feeling it. It does not matter that he’s only doing ad libs! People respect the energy.

YSL Case Is Nuts!

THIS CASE IS WILD 😂😂

According to @ajcnews, attorney Suri Chadha Jimenez was held in contempt last week for showing up to court late. Judge Ural Glanville ordered Jimenez to buy lunch for all the other lawyers in the case. He made a suggestion, but  Chadha had thoughts of his own.  Jimenez decided decided to order his lawyer colleagues some Magic City wings. You cannot make this up.

Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Claim To Own 100% Of ‘Verzuz’

The Verzuz music series has been back in the news in recent days thanks to rumors of a Sean “Diddy” Combs vs Jermaine Dupri headlining event. Verzuz founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland recently spoke about the state of the brand.

Legendary music producers Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley and Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean launched Verzuz in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hits-for-hits presentations grew from an Instagram Live streaming experience to live performances featuring numerous Hip Hop and R&B acts.

After showcasing Verzuz on Instagram and then Apple Music, Swizz and Timbo took the show to the Triller platform. That business relationship with Triller resulted in a legal battle that eventually ended with a settlement.

It appeared Verzuz was in an uncertain state of limbo since the summer of 2022. According to Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, more matchups are on the way. The two creators also claimed to own 100% of the company.

Swizz Beatz Teases Quarantine-Era Verzuz Rematches In Front Of Full Live Crowds

“When we come back, which is soon, the way we do it to them this time – season three, the return of the V,” said Swizz Beatz while talking with Timbaland on Instagram Live. The Poison album creator hinted at rematches like Erykah Badu vs Jill Scott in front of a full arena audience.

He added, “Verzuz is still 100 percent Black-owned. 50 percent on the top of your screen, and 50 percent on the bottom of your screen. Tim and Swizz, that’s who own Verzuz. In case you ain’t know… It was built for the people, and it will stay with the people. And we love everybody.”

Fans have been fantasy-booking potential Verzuz battles like Usher vs Chris Brown, Lil Kim vs Nicki Minaj, OutKast vs A Tribe Called Quest, and 50 Cent vs Lil Wayne. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Diddy vs Jermaine Dupri will take place later this year in New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden.

Jermaine Dupri Addresses People Saying He “Dropped The Ball” On Latto

Alyssa “Latto” Stephens can claim to be one of the most successful Hip Hop artists to emerge from reality television. The former Miss Mulatto won season one of Jermaine Dupri’s The Rap Game TV series in 2016.

Since that time, Latto signed with RCA Records and earned a Billboard Hot 100 Top 5 entry with “Big Energy”. Plus, she began hosting Apple Music’s 777 Radio show. Her career trajectory also includes victories at the BET Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards, and iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Some fans have wondered why So So Def label founder Jermaine Dupri did not secure Latto under a record deal after winning The Rap Game. Dupri spoke about the situation during an interview with HipHopDX.

“People keep always saying, ‘Jermaine, you dropped the ball on [Latto].’ But what people don’t understand is, I put Latto’s record out. The deal was, if you win on The Rap Game, you get a single from Jermaine Dupri on So So Def. So that single came out,” explained JD.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee continued, “The problem was that Latto was 16 years old, and the outlets didn’t support it. And nobody was like speaking on it. Nobody talked about it. If you watched the TV show, you saw it. But people didn’t start talking about Latto until she started making more vulgar records, dressing more sexually, and being more adult.”

Latto received her first RIAA Platinum Award in March 2021 for the “B#### from da Souf” single. The 24-year-old rapper’s “Big Energy” obtained a 2x-Platinum plaque in October 2022. “Muwop” featuring Gucci Mane is Platinum as well.

Queen of da Souf peaked at No. 44 on the Billboard 200 album chart. 2022’s 777 made it into the Billboard 200’s Top 20 by debuting at No. 15. Latto recently achieved a major milestone when she crossed the 1 billion streams mark on Spotify.

Usher Talks ‘Confessions’ Album Sequel Rumors & King Of R&B Title

R&B/Pop legend Usher Raymond earned a Diamond plaque from the RIAA for his 2004 studio LP Confessions. Many of Usher’s fans consider the 10-million-selling album the singer’s magnum opus.

There has been speculation that Usher will reconnect with record producer Jermaine Dupri to create a Confessions sequel. The 8-time Grammy winner spoke with The Shade Room about those whispers of a possible part two.

“It’s just a rumor at this point,” stated Usher when asked if the 20th anniversary of Confessions will include a Confessions II. “But who knows? When we get there, we’ll see next year.”

Usher’s Confessions debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 1.1 million copies in its first week of release. The album remained atop the Billboard 200 for nine non-consecutive weeks in 2004.

Multiple songs from Confessions led the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Yeah!” featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris controlled the pole position for twelve weeks. “Burn” (8 weeks), “My Boo” with Alicia Keys (6 weeks), and “Confessions Part II” (2 weeks) became chart-toppers as well.

Is Usher The True King Of R&B?

With nine career Number Ones on the Hot 100 and an über-popular Las Vegas residency at the moment, some R&B listeners have crowned Usher Raymond as the king of the genre. He addressed the honorific moniker during his interview.

“I feel like if I confine myself to just being the king of R&B, that would be too shortsighted. I love R&B, but R&B is a segway to many, many, many, many, things,” offered Usher. “If people have given me that title of someone that has consistently done what I’ve done then hey, I’ll take it, but it’s so much more than just being that.”

The 44-year-old music industry icon also joked, “Ain’t Jacquees the King of R&B? I don’t wanna take his role. That’s little bruh… There are many kings.” Jacquees made that declaration on social media and with his 2019 studio album King of R&B. However, the Georgia native received a mixed reaction from the public.

Usher also spoke about the King of R&B title in 2022. At that time, the Atlanta-based musician/actor said, “If you call me that, I’ll definitely carry it. I’m gonna tilt my crown knowing that I’m standing on the shoulders of all of the icons of our time.”

First-Week Sales Projections For NBA YoungBoy’s ‘Richest Opp’ Are In

Did all of the online attention on YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s latest project help the Louisiana native move enough units to vie for No. 1 on the album chart?

According to HitsDailyDouble, YoungBoy will compete for a Top 5 entry on the Billboard 200. The Richest Opp mixtape is in a tight race with The Album by the Jonas Brothers for the top debut of the tracking week.

Industry number crunchers project YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Richest Opp to open with 51,000-58,000 first-week units. Jonas Brothers’ The Album is also on pace to sell 51,000-58,000 units in its first week of release.

YoungBoy has already scored two Top 10 projects on the Billboard 200 chart in 2023. January’s I Rest My Case debuted at No. 9 with 29,000 first-week units. April’s Don’t Try This At Home launched at No. 5 with 60,000 units.

In addition, YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Lost Files dropped in December 2022. That compilation peaked at No. 45 on the January 7-dated Billboard 200 chart. Lost Files earned 18,095 album-equivalent units in week one.

Richest Opp generated a lot of conversation on social media and in the press. YoungBoy Never Broke Again took shots at fellow rap stars Drake, J. Cole, and Lil Yachty on the Richest Opp song titled “F### The Industry Pt. 2.”

Plus, many Hip Hop fans thought the 17-track Richest Opp mixtape would come out on the same day as a project by YoungBoy’s longtime rival, Lil Durk. However, Durk announced his Almost Healed album will actually hit DSPs on May 26.

Michael Rainey Jr. Mocks Lil Meech’s Viral Airport Arrest Video

Power Book II: Ghost‘s Michael Rainey Jr. decided to continue his tongue-in-cheek feud with BMF‘s Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.

Footage of authorities detaining Flenory Jr. at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport in December 2022 went viral last week. Airport security reportedly discovered a Glock 19 9mm in the entertainer’s carry-on luggage.

“I’m a minor, sir. I have security guards and they left that in my bag, sir. I did not pack my bag,” Lil Meech told the TSA official at the scene. The 22-year-old son of convicted drug trafficker Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory also said, “Can I call my mom or somebody?”

Ultimately, the Broward County State Attorney’s Office dropped the felony charge against Lil Meech. His bodyguard claimed to be the owner of the firearm found at the Florida airport.

Michael Rainey Jr. and Lil Meech have been taking comical shots at each other on social media for a while. The two Starz network stars made headlines for their head-to-head Instagram battle in February of this year.

Fellow Power franchise actor Gianni Paolo jumped into the crossfire by posting a video of Michael Rainey Jr. at an unknown airport. Rainey was making fun of Lil Meech’s arrest. Paolo’s TikTok clip amassed more than 230,000 likes and 3,500 comments in fifteen hours.

“Bro, don’t search me. I’m a minor. He packed my bag,” said Michael Rainey Jr., mocking Lil Meech. Power Book II: Ghost started its third season on Starz in March. BMF ended its second season that same month. Hip Hop mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson produces both drama series.

Rick Ross Says Jay-Z, Drake And Lil Wayne Join Him In An Exclusive Club Of Rappers

Rick Ross says Jay-Z and Drake join him in a club so exclusive only the top two percent of artists qualify.

The Maybach Music Group founder claims less than a handful of his contemporaries can touch him when it comes to selecting a beat and making magic on it. According to Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Drake and Lil Wayne are worth mentioning alongside him, and he reserves heavy praise for the pair.

Rozay opened up about his collaborators during the latest episode of the Drink Champs podcast, aired Saturday (May 13).

“Me and Drizzy, our relationship is most definitely is real close,” Rick Ross began before referencing their many collabs. “We in the two percentile when it comes to writers and creators. It’s called a two percentile. The two percentile — listen, if you not ready for this…. walk out of the room.”

The “Rich Forever” hitmaker elaborated about the exclusive club, saying, “But the two percentile is when you walk into the room, you hear something, a beat or a production that you actually love and can actually create it, write it, and execute it right then. I can’t say I’ve done that with many artists. It’s not even five artists. Drake is in the two percentile,” he said before adding, “Wayne could do it, [and] Jay-Z.”

Rick Ross claims Drake is one of “very few people that’s comfortable enough to listen to a beat, take my direction from it and create something in that moment, record it right then, and stand on it.”

As for Jay-Z, Rick Ross said he realized Hov is “a two percenter” when he came up with his “Free Mason” verse. He recalled pulling up a Madison Square Garden where the Grammy Award-winning rapper was due to perform. While Rozay planned to “just kick it,” Hov “had no idea I had the production, the beat, the record,” and the idea for their collab.

“And so I went to the tour. We backstage. It may be 20 minutes before he go and perform. This the greatest n#### in the game. This Rozay. I’m still halfway broke n####. I want it. I want that motivation.”

Rick Ross approached Jay-Z just moments before Hov went onstage and asked if he could play him the beat.

“I’m expecting him to tell me, ‘Not right now. Not right now.’ And I tried him, straight up,” Rick Ross explained. ‘So I play my verse and the beat from ‘Free Mason.’ He leaning up against the wall before he go on stage. And he just started rapping right there. And what he saying is pertaining to what we talking about. So Hov is a two percenter.” Check out the episode below.

50 Cent Regrets Hanging Upside Down For Super Bowl Performance

50 Cent has admitted that he made a mistake during the iconic 2022 Super Bowl and should never have decided to hang upside down.

The G-Unit founder was a surprise guest at last year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. He joined a legendary Hip-Hop lineup featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige. 50 Cent wasn’t on the lineup and shocked fans when he emerged in the middle of the show, suspended upside down from the ceiling to perform “In Da Club.”

However, in retrospect, Fiddy believes he went too hard and didn’t need to do all of that.

“I think that was a mistake for the Super Bowl,” 50 Cent USA Today. “Everybody else walked in regular, the songs still went over and they got the trophy, too. They all won an Emmy. They got the same thing I got and I had to put myself upside down.”

Relive the epic Super Bowl Halftime Show below and watch 50 Cent in the “In Da Club” video at the end of the page.

He also jokingly told the outlet that somebody should have stepped in and told him not to take the risk. If he had fallen, he would have become a classic internet meme and been the butt of jokes for a long time.

After the Super Bowl performance, 50 Cent was mocked by fans online who noticed he gained a few pounds since 2003 when he first did the upside-down crunches in the “In Da Club” video. However, he made light of the weight gain, sharing an article about the “fat-shaming haters.”

“I call this teasing me,” he tweeted back in February last year. “They’re just teasing me because they know i can drop the weight. that’s why i laugh with them. Fat shaming only applies when your ashamed of your fat. LOL.”

Conway The Machine Opens Up About His Close Relationship With Jay-Z

Conway The Machine is shedding light on his close bond with Jay-Z.

The Buffalo native opened up about his friendship with Hov during a recent Twitter Spaces talk with Elliott Wilson. According to Conway, Jay-Z is one of the few people in the industry he shares a genuine connection with.

“To me he’s just a real dude, a genuine dude,” Conway said of the Roc Nation founder. He explained that although he’s met and done business with many people in his “short little run in this rap game,” Jay-Z stands out.

“This is probably the one guy, only guy who I felt like genuinely cared about me and my well-being. He ask about how I’m doing, and family stuff, s### like that. It’s just regular s###,” Conway said before adding, “I kind of respect that and like that a little more.”

Conway explained that Jay-Z’s superstar status doesn’t faze him, and he rarely makes his link-ups with Hov public.

“I ain’t really trippin off the ‘Oh man, it’s Jay-Z.’ That’s probably why we ain’t did a lot of music together and stuff because I don’t hit him up about stuff like that,’ he added.

The Drumwork Music Group founder continued, “We hang out, I might not even get a picture. You won’t even know that we hung out. I think he like that about me too.”

Jay-Z tapped Conway The Machine for the “King Kong Riddim” on the soundtrack for the 2021 Netflix film The Harder They Fall. The song also features Jadakiss, and U.K. drill artist BackRoad Gee. Listen to the song below.

Meanwhile Conway The Machine is aiming for a No. 1 album with his latest release Won’t He Do It.

Q&A with Pretty Porcelain: From Advocacy to Artistry

In the world of music, there are artists who not only captivate us with their talent but also inspire us with their personal stories and dedication to making a difference. Pretty Porcelain is one such artist, whose journey from advocacy to artistry is nothing short of remarkable. With a unique style and a powerful message, she has emerged as a rising star, using her platform to shed light on important issues while creating captivating music. In this article, we delve into the life and career of Pretty Porcelain, exploring the experiences that have shaped her artistry and the impact she is making in the music industry and beyond. Join us as we uncover the story behind the artist and gain insight into her inspiring journey.

AllHipHop: What first got you into music?

Pretty Porcelain: I’ve always had an interest and love for music since I was younger, I grew up an old soul so r&b and rap was definitely my go-to music choice. One day I was sitting in the living room with my dad Terry Elliott who’s also the Founder of the worlds famous “King Of Diamonds”, knowing my dad he’s a jack of all trades so I looked up at him and said “Dad you do everything, you can do anything, make me a rapper” my dad looked at me and said, “are you serious?” I said “Yes” and after that conversation, he left it alone. For two years we didn’t speak anything else of it. He came back to me two years later and said “Are you ready to be a rapper?” I said “Yes” and he told me “Let’s go then!” and from that day forward I’ve been putting in the work and never looked back.

AllHipHop: Who inspired you to make music?

Pretty Porcelain: I have Albinism and growing up with it was far from easy, i’ve endured so much hate from the world and have been bullied all my life but I continued to push through and I am honored and happy to say that I am an advocate for Albinism, bullying advocate, community activist, the international supermodel with albinism, and now an artist! Honestly doing all of those things made me want to tap into a new realm, and show others that individuals with Albinism or differences in general are capable of doing anything we put our minds to. We can do it too! & looks good while doing it!

AllHipHop: What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music?

Pretty Porcelain: If I wasn’t in the music industry, I honestly would be doing exactly what I am doing currently. Besides music I am an Internationally Published Model, I am a bullying advocate, An advocate for Albinism & people with differences, as well as an entrepreneur so I would still have my hands full even if I wasn’t an artist lol.

AllHipHop: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Pretty Porcelain: One if the best advice I’ve been given would probably be from my mom, she always instilled in me from a baby that “I am beautiful & that I never needed to live up to what society’s standards of beauty were”.

AllHipHop: How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business?

Pretty Porcelain: I personally feel like the internet is a double-edged sword when it comes to the music business. On one end we have false realities and narratives being spread on the internet every day that create false visions for the generations coming up, but on the other end, the internet is how we all connect from all around the world and share our projects with our supporters so It’s like….you win some you lose some. But I make sure I do not get caught up within the internet lifestyle. I make sure to be myself with or without the internet.

AllHipHop: Where was your current project recorded?

Pretty Porcelain: My Single Stop Playing with Me was recorded at “The Hit Factory” in Miami FL.

AllHipHop: What do you enjoy most about being an artist?

Pretty Porcelain: What I enjoy most about being an artist is being able to express myself in ways I probably wouldn’t on an everyday basis,  I enjoy having my own looks and talent, Im uniquely me. There will never be another artist who looks or sounds like me. I stay true to myself at all times.

AllHipHop: Do you have any other projects that you’re working on now?

Pretty Porcelain: Yes I do I just released another single with Osmani Garcia called Sushi Sushi! It’s super cross-over and dope! He was so amazing to work with! I’m also working on some other singles as well right now.

AllHipHop: Do you have any other plans relating to this release? A video? Online show.

Pretty Porcelain: As of right now just doing the work and pushing “Stop Playing With Me” is the goal. The video is out and has over 300k views so I’m enjoying this project & how people are liking the song.

AllHipHop: When you create music, what is your personal purpose or goal?

Pretty Porcelain: When creating music my ultimate goal or purpose is to let my supporters know that it’s okay to do you! It’s okay to be pretty/handsome with your head on straight, make your own lane, and do your own thing.

Kanye West’s Padded Knee-High Sock Boots Has Pro Wrestler Matt Cardona Heated

Kanye West was widely ridiculed on social media over the weekend after he was spotted with an interesting choice of outfit.

The trendsetting G.O.O.D. Music founder isn’t afraid of making bold fashion choices and often goes viral for his fits. He was photographed while taking a stroll in Los Angeles with his wife Bianca Censori wearing what appeared to be a pair of padded knee-high sock boots.

Although fans are letting the jokes fly over Ye’s choice of footwear – which actually appears to be his own design sock shoes with a shin guard covering his feet and legs up to the knee – also drew the attention of a professional wrestler.

Matt Cardona caught wind of Ye’s look and took to social media on Sunday to jokingly call him out. He shared an image of Ye wearing the Elite Sports shin guards and had a few words. Cardona also teased that the rapper is running from “the Indy God.”

“Kanye is wearing kickpads now?!” Cordona penned. “He looks like an Indy worker now. Is he coming after THE INDY GOD?! Be a man Kanye..c’mon don’t be scared…you’re running from Broski…that’s what I heard!!!” Check out the post below.

Fat Joe On Ja Morant: “He’s Trying Hard To Get Kicked Out Of The NBA”

Fat Joe says Ja Morant needs to get some new friends if he wants to continue playing in the NBA following his most recent suspension from the Memphis Grizzlies after appearing to brandish a gun on Instagram Live.

The Bronx icon took to Instagram on Sunday (May. 14) with some advice for the athlete. According to Fat Joe, Ja Morant should watch the company he keeps, warning him about friends who “love the lifestyle” his fame provides.

“He’s trying hard to get kicked out the NBA,” Joey Crack began. “Those guys that’s with you, they not your peoples, Ja. They don’t care. This is a problem we have with our community becoming famous.”

He continued, “Because the people around you, they like that the girls is watching, they love the lifestyle, but they’re not you. They didn’t dribble the basketball in the snow on Christmas trying to figure out the Kobe moves, or the Jordan moves. They didn’t put in the work like you.”

Furthermore, Fat Joe says the hangers-on are always quick to flip when the fame fades. “Guess what? If you get thrown out of the NBA, these are the same guys who are going to say, ‘Yo, he wasn’t s### anyway.’ Ja they are not your people,” he insisted. “Anybody pointing you in the direction of ignorance is not with you.” Check out the clip below or watch the entire IG Live here.

Ja Morant previously picked up an eight game suspension without pay over a similar incident in March. The 23-year-old point guard found himself in hot water after he went on Instagram Live with a gun in his hand while at a strip club.

Mobb Deep’s “The Infamous” Reimagined By Benny Reid—With Havoc’s Blessing

Mobb Deep delivered The Infamous in 1995, with guest appearances by Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and Q-Tip. The brooding 16-track effort came with Prodigy and Havoc’s sharp observations on street culture set to ominous beats, including “Shook Ones (Pt. II).” The album spent 18 weeks on the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 15 and 34 weeks on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, peaking at No. 3. It was ultimately certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Its cultural impact can still be felt nearly 30 years later.

Most recently, jazz saxophonist/producer Benny Reid decided to pay the ultimate tribute to The Infamous with The Infamous Live alongside Havoc. With the help of Fat Beats Records, Reid was able to re-imagine 13 tracks from The Infamous, including “Shook Ones (Pt. II),” “Survival of the Fittest” and “Temperature’s Rising.”

“When the opportunity presented itself to re-imagine Mobb Deep’s The Infamous, I began with its crown jewel, ‘Shook Ones,'” Reid tells AllHipHop. “Immediately lost in the source material, my focus became translating lyric to melody and the sublime textures to harmony. With Havoc’s blessing, I embarked on a two-year journey, stretching the boundaries of my acoustic instruments and jazz background to instrumentally rebirth The Infamous Live.

“Rakim’s manager put me in touch after I shared my first arrangement—’Shook Ones (Extended Jazz Version).’ Havoc heard it and kinda flipped out and from there, he and I started working together.”

The Infamous Live is currently available via Bandcamp here. Check out a teaser below.

The Weeknd Blames “The Idol” Series For Loss Of Voice On Stage

The Weeknd has reflected on the “terrifying” moment he lost his voice onstage.

The Canadian singer-songwriter, real name Abel Tesfaye, was singing “Can’t Feel My Face” during a gig staged at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, last September when he suddenly stopped the performance and left the stage.

He later returned to announce that he was experiencing vocal issues and would have to cancel the concert.

Recounting the scare during an interview for W magazine, The Weeknd theorized that he lost his voice because he was also filming scenes for the upcoming HBO series “The Idol,” in which he plays self-help guru Tedros, at the same time.

“I had to take off The Weeknd outfit, put on Tedros’s wig, shoot with Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), then go back to being The Weeknd. It was tough to go from one head to another,” he stated. “Then, after the concert, I lost my voice. No voice came out at all. That’s never happened before. My theory is that I forgot how to sing because I was playing Tedros, a character who doesn’t know how to sing. I may be looking too deeply into this, but it was terrifying. As The Weeknd, I’ve never skipped a concert. I’ve performed with the flu. I’ll die on that stage. But there was something very complicated going on with my mind at that moment.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, The Weeknd referred to claims that production on “The Idol,” the drama series he co-created alongside Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson, had been plagued with problems.

Instead, the star insisted the decision to reshoot and rewrite aspects of the program was the right one.

“It was a challenge to redo ‘The Idol,’ and, in truth, I sacrificed my health and home to make it work. So, let’s say it comes out, and it’s f**king horrible. I still know I did my absolute best,” the 33-year-old continued. “From what I’ve seen, the show is great. Everything is a risk: When you’ve done the best you can, I would call that a happy ending… And I got my voice back.”

“The Idol,” also featuring Troye Sivan, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, and Hank Azaria, is set to premiere via HBO on June 4th.

EXCLUSIVE: DJ Premier Splits Production Duties For First Time With Female Beatsmith Jazimoto

DJ Premier truly needs no introduction. As one-half of Gang Starr, he cemented his name in the Hip-Hop history books decades ago. But the 57-year-old legend continues to push the boundaries of creativity and pump out new projects. Most recently, Premier teamed up with Brooklyn native Teflon for his forthcoming sophomore album, 2 Sides to Every Story. But bubbling behind the scenes is a welcome surprise—the production work of Jazimoto, evident on the single “It Is What It Is” featuring Lil Fame.

As the daughter of jazz musician Wilber Morris of Wilberforce (which included Nas’ father Olu Dara), Jazimoto has been around music her entire life. The Washington Heights native learned to play piano at just nine months old. She was later classically trained to play the piano and violin via The Suzuki Method. By second grade, she was performing at Carnegie Hall. Following high school, she was offered scholarships at Chapman University, The Julliard School, New England Conservatory of Music and Boulder College of Music. But Hip-Hop was calling. Introduced to the genre by her brother, a DJ, she eventually got her first MPC and the rest is history. On 2 Sides To Every Story, Jazimoto splits production duties with DJ Premier, a first for Preem.

“Jazimoto is a classically trained musician, so she has unlimited space to bring a sound of her own into the Hip-Hop world that sets her apart from everyone else,” he tells AllHipHop. “She’s decisive about how she wants her music sound and her ear for detail is meticulous. She call me on the phone to have me fix something that doesn’t sound right. Nothing is getting past her [laughs]. That’s 100% how producers are, including myself.

“Splitting the production duties was simple because when you blend only two producers together and mix all of the songs up in the sequence of the album. The scenes change so smoothly because our sounds are so different every time.  It sounds like an album instead of a compilation.”

For Jazimoto, she describes the entire experience as a “dream come true.” She adds, “From splitting production with a legend like Preem for a full album from one of my favorite emcees?! C’mon…it gets no better [laughs]. Preem’s my all time favorite producer. The way he structures his beats is so precise. Everything on the 1! And being this is the first time that he’s paired up with just one other producer for a full record makes this really special. Sonically, it all sounds cohesive…but you’ll get to hear it for yourself on June 30.”

With the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop falling on August 11, women still have a long way to go in terms of getting the recognition they deserve. It can often feel like a boys club trying to navigate such a historically male-dominated industry. But when giants like DJ Premier share the spotlight with a female producer, it’s a promising sign.

“I don’t think there’s many women producers out there because the craft was never really targeted toward women,” Jazi says. “Yes, you have women musicians but aside from the likes of say Missy Elliot and Patrice Rushen, it’s been a male-oriented pursuit. I think most women in Hip-Hop want their share of the spotlight, which means being seen and heard by way of emceeing.

Jazimoto continues, “Women have come a long way in Hip-Hop, and the lane has opened up to be more inclusive over the past several years. Women are showing up and showing out, and I love it. From Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Remy Ma, Doja Cat, Latto, Saweetie, Little Simz, SZA—the list goes on and on. It’s no longer a male dominated culture. In fact, you could argue that tides have turned over the past year or two and that the women are running s###. Now it’s time for the ladies to make our mark on the production side.”

DJ Premier agrees, adding, “Women always deserve more shine in Hip-Hop. They have proven to be just as much of a necessity to the competition in every part of this profession as emcees, producers, DJs, graffiti writers, dancers, lawyers, managers, stylists, models, business administrators, publishers, label owners and so on.”

As Jazimoto mentioned, 2 Sides To Every Story drops June 30. Get a little taste above and pre-order the project here.

EXCLUSIVE: Young Thug Challenges Evidence Over House That Was Shot Up In YSL RICO Case

A tumultuous week has unfolded for the Atlanta-based rapper Young Thug, real name Jeffrey Williams, who is currently embroiled in a sweeping RICO case against him and other members of the Young Slime Life (YSL) gang.

As court proceedings were twice interrupted due to his sudden hospitalizations, Young Thug and his legal team have also challenged the introduction of evidence from a Ring doorbell recording, which they argue does not feature the rapper’s voice.

Officers had responded to an incident on March 18, 2022, after a residence at 2830 Waters Road SW, Atlanta, was shot up. Over a dozen shell casings were found at the scene, and the house was hit 10 times.

During the investigation, they used the Ring doorbell system to communicate with an individual, a conversation captured on an officer’s body camera.

After the dialogue concluded, an unidentified officer suggested the voice on the recording was Young Thug’s.

However, the rap star’s legal team, well-acquainted with his distinctive voice, has disputed this claim.

AllHipHop.com has confirmed that Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel is seeking to ban the recording – stating that if the prosecution plans to introduce the doorbell conversation as evidence, they must establish a solid basis for voice identification or be prohibited from using the audio.

The unfolding legal drama has been complicated by Young Thug’s health concerns. The rapper was hospitalized twice last week, delaying the court proceedings.

Initially, Young Thug was admitted to the hospital on Thursday (May 11), due to an undisclosed ailment, leading to a postponement in jury selection. His legal team, however, reassured the public that his condition was not severe.

His second visit to the hospital on Friday (May 12) added to the growing concerns around his health and resulted in further delays in the pre-trial hearings.

The exact nature of Young Thug’s health condition remains unknown as of the latest reports.

These recent developments add a new layer of complexity to an already high-stakes trial. Young Thug and nine other defendants in the YSL RICO case have been under scrutiny since January.

Despite the ongoing jury selection, jurors still need to be seated. As the trial proceeds, Young Thug’s dual fights – one in the courtroom and the other for his health – continue to make headlines.

Lil Wayne Tanks Final “Welcome To Tha Carter” Show: “We Ain’t Bending Over Backwards”

Lil Wayne is the subject of scrutiny after he showed up late to his show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on Saturday night (May 12) then abruptly left. While he managed to pump out several of his classics, he ultimately ended the show mid-set. The incident happened during a brief intermission when Lil Wayne decided to let Young Money artists Lil Twist, Yaj Kader and Allan Cubas take the mic.

“We appreciate it, but we ain’t about to be bending over backwards for these folks,” Lil Wayne said as Cubas was about to perform his second song. “We work too hard for this s###. We work way too hard. This my muthafuckin’ artist Allan. That was Twist and that was Yaj. We are Young Money. We appreciate y’all time.”

And that was it.

Judging by the look on Allen Cubas’ face, he was shocked by how the night unfolded. Lil Wayne has yet to address the abrupt cancelation publicly (and let’s be real, he probably won’t). But people are speculating he was unimpressed by the crowd’s energy, especially when it came to his new artists.

A couple who attended the show shared a video of what happened in their own words. “Yo what happened?” the man says. “We’re at the Lil Wayne show, Rosa’s never been, her favorite rapper. This fool did 30 minutes, got p#####, threw the mic down and left. But nothing was wrong. I’m so confused.”

Lil Wayne cancelled his Atlanta performance in April less than 24 hours before showtime due to “unforseen circumstances.” In this case, he vowed to make it up to his fans. Still, some weren’t so willing to forgive him.

“Mannn how many more you going to cancel tho,” one fan said,” while another added, “You cancelled Atlanta- $1,000 on good tickets and I got a call from ticket master, 6 hours prior, that it’s cancelled. I’ve been waiting 23 years for this.”

Yet another said, “I drove all the way to Atlanta got a condo took off work for the weekend just to wake up to the show being canceled… I’m mad but I’m not because it’s you. This finna be a long ride home!!”

Nick Cannon Invokes Muhammad Ali & Bob Marley Against Deadbeat Dad Claims

Nick Cannon has revealed his annual salary as means of combatting claims about his parenting ability.

In a new interview for The Los Angeles Times, the TV personality opened up about his unconventional family dynamic, having fathered 12 children with six different mothers.

Reflecting on the recent report suggesting he pays at least $3 million a year in child support, Nick insisted he can afford to care for his large brood.

“That’s not a lot of money,” he said of the figure. “When you think about my lifestyle, I have to generate at least $100 million a year… Everybody thinks Ryan Seacrest has tonnes of money. I do everything that he does times 10. Well, not times 10 – times three. Because he does a lot.”

Nick then went on to insist he doesn’t deserve to be branded as a “deadbeat dad” in the media because he provides for and spends time with all of his kids.

“I’ve been villainized. I hear all the time: ‘You can’t be present for all those children.’ So, therefore, I get this deadbeat dad title,” the 42-year-old continued. “Right now, the narrative is, ‘He has a bunch of kids.’ But I’m really at a place now where I don’t care what people know. I’d rather just operate. It’s more about really being a good person instead of telling people you’re a good person.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Nick emphasized that he’s not the only celebrity to have a lot of children.

“I mean, Muhammad Ali had a bunch of kids, and he was the greatest fighter there ever was. Bob Marley got more kids than I got. These are great men,” he added.

Woman Gets Tattoos Of Eminem Over 60% Of Her Body!

Will the real Nikki Hardy please stand up!

Nikki, a tattoo enthusiast and world record holder for most tattoos of the same musician, is an ultimate Eminem super fan whose body is a canvas adorned with countless tributes to her favorite rapper, Marshall Bruce Mathers III.

From the first time she heard “Stan” from the album The Marshall Mathers LP at 14, Nikki was smitten by Eminem’s lyrical storytelling.

After getting her first portrait tattoo at 19, she fell in love with the art of tattooing and just had to get more. Her passion for the rapper has led her to ink 50+ tattoos inspired by him on her body – and counting!

The 35-year-old, who lives in Aberdeen, Scotland, and works as a nail technician, never planned on becoming an obsessive fan of Eminem. She claimed “it was a gradual process” and that her love for the rapper “grew over time.”

She saw him perform for the first time when she was 17. She has since attended six more live Eminem performances, including a trip to New York to see him perform at Yankee Stadium in 2010.

She regularly receives Eminem-themed merchandise such as t-shirts, hoodies, posters, and concert DVDs as gifts during Christmas.

Reflecting on her first tattoo, Nikki explains she was 18 when she started getting small tattoos. A year later, she cemented her love for the rapper with a tattoo – a backward “E.”

“It’s super tiny, like the size of a coin,” Nikki laughed. “I wanted it because it’s not too obviously Eminem, but that’s kinda funny considering where I am now.”

Today, she holds the Guinness World Record for having the most tattoos of the same musician – with 60% of her body inked. Nikki required two tattoo artists and a dermatologist to verify the number of Eminem tattoos she had to be officially handed the world record.

Hardy has 54 tattoos on her 5-foot-6 frame. 16 are portraits of the rapper, and 28 are Eminem-themed. She previously had some smaller tattoos featuring the rapper’s lyrics, but her first portrait of Eminem was inked by tattoo artist David Corden in 2017.

She stated this tattoo transformed her life and helped her shift from self-loathing to self-acceptance, especially regarding her body weight struggles. Subsequently, she visited Corden eight more times and had additional tattoos done by artists Yarson Stachowicz and Jay Hutton.

Nikki showcases her tattoos on Instagram, informing her followers about media coverage and upcoming tattoo plans. Despite beating the world record, the attention she has received online has been overwhelming and challenging, as she has faced criticism and negativity in the form of comments calling her a stalker or questioning her marriage.

Some comments focus on her love life, as people find it difficult to comprehend that her husband is attracted to her. She feels that these comments are based on her appearance and don’t take into consideration her background or circumstances.

“My Instagram is aimed at getting Eminem’s attention, and I’ve even created the hashtag #SignMeShady to show my desire to get his signature tattooed on me,” she added. “However, the negative comments have been difficult to deal with.”

Despite some criticism, Nikki is proud of her tattoos and loves to show them off.

“Most people have known me since before I got the portrait tattoo and have seen what it has done for me,” she explained. “It’s only strangers on the internet that have a problem with it.”

Nikki is a nail technician and a proud mom, and her tattoos don’t define her. Nikki’s husband, Kris, is also an Eminem super fan, but he doesn’t have as many tattoos of the rapper.

The couple connected instantly and knew they wanted to get married.

Initially, they planned to marry in Boston, but after considering the idea of getting married in Eminem’s hometown of Detroit, they made it happen. They got married at St Andrew’s Hall, where Eminem first performed.

Nikki’s love for Eminem and tattoos is not slowing down anytime soon. She plans to add at least two or three more portraits of the rapper to her collection.

“There are definitely more tattoos planned; it’s just a matter of finding space,” she confessed.

Eminem has been a controversial figure throughout his career, with many of his songs causing uproar and offense. But despite this, Nikki remains a steadfast fan, and she even credits his music with helping her through difficult times in her life.

She’s not just a collector of tattoos; she’s a curator of memories, each one a reminder of the emotions and experiences she has felt while listening to Eminem’s music.

“Eminem’s music has been a constant in my life, and I feel like I’ve grown up with him,” she explained. “You can’t count on everybody, but nobody can ever take music away from you.”

She added, “He does know of me. I know that for a fact. I like to think he’d think it’s cool, but who knows? My ultimate dream is to meet him, have him sign me, and then get the signature tattooed.”
