Drake Taunts Kanye West On “Search & Rescue” With Kim Kardashian Appearance

Drake has unveiled a new single called “Search & Rescue” just hours after teasing it on social media. The alleged photo of Kim Kardashian on the single art was the first clue it was going to be related to the SKIMS founder in some way. Sure enough, the track is the same song he previewed at the Dreamville Festival last weekend, which included snippets of her voice discussing her divorce from Kanye West.

Drake and Kanye West have been swapping jabs for years and, at times, over Kardashian. In 2018, West pulled a tweet-and-delete after discovering Drake followed his then-wife on Instagram.
Needless to say, West wasn’t particularly pleased.

“I never knew till this morning that Drake followed my wife on Instagram back in September,” he tweeted. “I had to bring this up because it’s the most f**ked up thing of all and I just saw it this morning. Imagine having a problem with somebody and they follow your wife on Instagram.”

Just a day later, West returned with another warning for the 6 God. After addressing Drake’s subliminal shots on Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode, he revisited the controversial IG follow that made him so irate.

“This man tried to used my family’s song to get at me,” he tweeted. “He been trying to pick a fight since the pool line. He dodged me for months when I extended olive branches to talk and then called to threaten me. I’ve never mentioned or touched anything related to family when it came to Drake. He followed my wife on Instagram he mentioned Pusha’s fiancé in a song.”

“You could have been sat down with me. I don’t need to score no points off of drake. If that was the case I wouldn’t have reached out in the first place. Ima focus on my family. And you keep my family out of all this wrestling foolishness. I don’t have beef with no one. Love everyone but don’t follow my f**king wife on Instagram. Who’s bright idea was it to tell Drake to follow my wife on Instagram. This person is not Drake’s friend.”

But it all seemed like water under the bridge in December 2021 when they put their differences aside for the Larry Hoover Benefit Concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Since then, West and Kardashian’s relationship dissolved after six years of marriage and he quickly remarried.

Pop Smoke Murder: First Defendant To Plead Guilty Sentenced

Pop Smoke was fatally shot during a botched robbery in February 2020. More than three years later, the first defendant to plead guilty to the drill rapper’s murder has been sentenced. According to Arcamax, the defendant pleaded guilty in an Inglewood courtroom to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robber on Thursday (April 6). Judge J. Christopher Smith sentenced the defendant to four years and two months in the Secure Youth Treatment Facility. He also warned the 20-year-old man he could remain in juvenile custody until he was 25.

The defendant was a teenager when he committed the crime, so his name has not been released. Three others are charged in Pop Smoke’s death, including two other juvenile defendants and Corey Walker, who was 19 at the time. A judge has issued a court order barring the media from identifying the juvenile defendants.

Pop Smoke, just 20, was on a four-day trip to Los Angeles when he posted an Instagram photo of a gift bag from the clothing brand, Amiri. The label revealed the address of the Hollywood Hills home where he’d been staying.

Later that night, a group of people wearing ski masks broke into Pop Smoke’s bedroom. They confronted him in a shower, where one of the juvenile suspects “pistol-whipped” him before shooting him three times in the back. They wound up with diamond-studded Rolex watch, which they sold for $2,000.

Deputy District Attorney Hilary Williams told a judge the defendant who pleaded guilty was no minor participant in the crime. Not only did he scout the mansion, he helped Walker recruit three other juveniles to rob Pop Smoke. After entering the home, he remained in “constant communication” with Walker, who waited in the getaway car.

The defendant’s attorney, Martin Lijtmaer, argued his client was intellectually disabled. But a psychologist who examined him last August believed he was faking it. A judge later found the defendant did have an intellectually disability but was competent to stand trial. The judge cited the jailhouse recording and calls with his mother that showed he understood how the courts worked.

“I don’t know how you and your friends even came to the idea to rob someone, someone whose life was taken unnecessarily,” Smith told the young man. “Mr. Jackson is not [coming home]. His life is done because of what you and your friends did. You owe. You owe.”

Nicki Minaj Hypes NBA YoungBoy Collaboration “WTF”

Nicki Minaj teamed up with NBA YoungBoy for a new single titled “WTF.”

The track marked the latest single from NBA YoungBoy’s upcoming album Don’t Try This At Home. Nicki Minaj teased the collaboration by posting a photo of herself and NBA YoungBoy on social media.

“MIDNIGHT YOUNGBOY X DA SLEEZE #WTF,” she wrote via Twitter.

The NBA YoungBoy collab arrives a month after Nicki Minaj released her track “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” Her latest single peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Nicki Minaj fans are still waiting to see if she will drop an album in 2023. The Republic Records artist hasn’t dropped a new studio LP since 2018’s Queen. Nicki Minaj did put out a compilation titled Queen Radio Vol. 1 in 2022.

NBA YoungBoy, on the other hand, has dropped a multitude of projects in recent years. He released I Rest My Case in January.

I Rest My Case served as NBA YoungBoy’s first album for Motown Records. He left Atlantic Records in 2022.

Last month, NBA YoungBoy received good news when a judge removed a few restrictions from the terms of his house arrest. The judge allowed him to have more than three visitors at his home with no curfew as part of his supervised release.

Coolio Died From Fentanyl, According To His Manager

Coolio’s manager revealed the late rapper’s cause of death on Thursday (April 6).

Jarel “Jarez” Posey told TMZ and Variety the hitmaking artist died due to fentanyl. A coroner also found traces of heroin and methamphetamines in Coolio’s system.

According to Posey, Coolio’s severe asthma played a role in his death. Decades of smoking cigarettes added to the complications.

Coolio, whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr., passed away in September 2022. He was 59.

The Grammy-winning rapper first rose to fame as a member of WC and the Maad Circle. He gained wider recognition as a solo artist, thanks in large part to the hit single “Gangsta’s Paradise” featuring L.V.

The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1995. “Gangsta’s Paradise” spent three weeks at the top of the chart.

“Gangsta’s Paradise,” which was originally recorded for the film Dangerous Minds, appeared as the title track on Coolio’s second solo album. The album and song each earned multi-platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America.

Last month, Coolio’s family announced plans to release a posthumous album. His estate dropped the first single “TAG You It” featuring Too $hort and DJ Wino in March.

XXXTentacion’s Killers Sentenced To Life In Prison

A judge sentenced three men to life in prison for their roles in the death of XXXTentacion.

Judge Michael Usan handed down life sentences to Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams and Trayvon Newsome on Thursday (April 6). The three men were convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery in March.

XXXTentacion was shot and killed outside of a Florida motorcycle dealership in June 2018. He was 20.

Boatwright, Williams, Newsome and a fourth man named Robert Allen were indicted for XXXTentacion’s murder in July 2018. Allen pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in August 2022.

The XXXTentacion murder trial began in February, almost five years after his death. Allen testified against Boatwright, Williams and Newsome.

Allen identified Boatwright and Newsome as the masked men seen in surveillance footage of XXXTentacion’s murder. Prosecutors said Boatwright shot the late rapper.

According to Allen, Williams served as the getaway driver. Newsome stole a Louis Vuitton bag, which contained $50,000.

Boatwright, Williams and Newsome each took $15,000 from the stolen money. Allen received $5,000 for his involvement.

A Florida jury found Boatwright, Williams and Newsome guilty after eight days of deliberations. XXXTentacion’s mother Cleopatra Bernard and Jenesis Sanchez, the mother of his child, declared justice was served.

Kodak Black Clowns Sleepy Joe Biden In Defense Of His Uncle Trump; Launches “MAGA” Apparel

Rapper Kodak Black has spoken out on behalf of his political uncle, Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, Apr. 5, the Florida rapper, who has been very vocal in his support of the 45th president, got on Instagram Live to address the historic indictment and give a character reference regarding his boy.

In a since-deleted post on IG, the rapper said he believes, like many other MAGA Maniacs, there is a conspiracy to get Trump off the radar, saying, “I feel like these people on some other s###. So they know like, they gon’ try to get Trump out the way ’cause Trump a stand-up n##ga, he a real n##ga.”

“He’ll let a b##ch do anything … Trump a real n##ga, man, a soldier,” he said. “It ain’t even about no s### about how he snapped for a n##ga …it ain’t even that.”

Mostly, according to Kodak Black’s logic, it’s because Trump has been rich all of his life.

“You gotta think about it bruh, Trump’s already that n-gga, Trump already had big baggage. I swear to God, luggage,” the chart-topper continued, adding that might be why the former POTUS “ain’t tripping.”

Kodak Black said, “He ain’t tripping on that, he ain’t flagging … They gon’ fake it ’til they make it.”

He believes Trump is going to take all the hate he has been receiving from the prosecution and body the charges and be able to run for president again.

The rapper believes the MAGA maniacs are powerful enough that they will be able to get him back into the White House come the next election.

“They about to let Trump run this s###. All that eight years, four years, and s###,” he said. “By the time the new muthaf##ka get in, there’s so much s### they gon’ try to fix and all that type of s###. Let that man run his course.”

As reported by AllHipHop.com, Kodak Black and Donald Trump have been cool since the former president pardoned him while he was doing a four-year bid in his last days of office.

Kodak also took aim at President Joe Biden, while unveiling his own line of MAGA merchandise. Take a look:

Ye Sued For Force-Feeding Students Sushi And Allowing Unchecked Bullying At Donda Academy

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, the founder of Donda Academy, is reportedly force-feeding students sushi daily, racking up a staggering $10,000 monthly bill, according to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ.

The school is being sued by two former Black female teachers who allege wrongful termination and retaliation after raising concerns about education, health, safety code violations, and racial discrimination.

The lawsuit details bizarre rules and practices at the academy, such as students eating sushi on the floor without tables or chairs, a ban on crossword puzzles and coloring sheets, and Ye’s refusal to let students use forks or utensils, or the second floor of the building because he’s supposedly scared of stairs.

Furthermore, the school allegedly lacked a janitor, a school nurse, and proper disciplinary procedures, resulting in unchecked bullying and physical assaults.

When the teachers attempted to raise these issues, they were threatened and ultimately fired.

They are now suing Ye and Donda Academy for compensation. Kanye’s representatives have not yet responded to the allegations.

South African Police Seek To Stop ‘Luh Twizzy’ Teens Inspired By Rapper Yeat

California rapper Yeat, an artist of white and Mexican descent, is causing mass chaos on the continent of Africa.

However, it’s not just because his song is cooking up the charts. It’s because it is prompting kids to vandalize public spaces like malls in South Africa.

Teens from the country have been so locked into his music that they started identifying themselves as “Luh Twizzy,” South African news outlet Joburg {etc} reports.

These are kids that have joined what is now being called the “Luh Twizzy” TikTok challenge.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the youth conceal their faces when they gather in various Gauteng malls dressed in black with skeletal prints.

The kids seem to be causing chaos and invading malls, bothering customers and other young people.

One person on Twitter posted a video of the havoc the group has been causing and blamed it on people allowing “American rap” to be so influential in South African youth’s lives.

He wrote, “This Luh Twizzy nonsense is what happens when you let social media & American rap music raise your children, it results in this unhinged juvenile delinquency. You fix this by bringing back compulsory military service to instil discipline. #ItsMySouthAfrica #uMjoloWithAzola.”

https://twitter.com/Zee89442972/status/1640119703380152322?s=20

In March, the Mall of Africa was bombarded by thousands of teenagers participating in this challenge.

Now, the Mall of Africa is working with SAPS and a private security company to investigate the “Luh Twizzy” and to see if any criminal acts have been made. If so, there are mounting calls for law enforcement to arrest the members of the fan group.

One mall is preparing for the “Luh Twizzy,” pending the upcoming Easter holiday, according to Times Live.

“No unaccompanied minors will be allowed to enter our center. So we urge all parents/guardians to accompany their minors/teenagers when visiting Clearwater Mall. At Clearwater Mall, the safety and security of our shoppers, tenants as well as all staff on site remains our number one priority,” the mall’s management said.

EXCLUSIVE: More Problems For Pras: Feds Push For Contempt Of Court Charge

The U.S. government is seeking to prosecute Pras Michel, a co-founder of The Fugees, and his legal team for leaking sensitive information to Bloomberg.

Corey R. Amundson is the Chief of the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice.

Amundson claims that Pras and his defense counsel allegedly shared confidential government documents, including grand jury material, violating a court’s protective order. The leaked information was published in two defense-oriented articles, which heavily cited Pras and defense counsel for their content.

He further noted that one of the articles published a photo bearing a grand jury exhibit sticker that matches the copy provided to the defense in discovery, and the same article quoted grand jury witness testimony provided to the defendant in discovery.

Amundson expressed concern about the defense counsel’s actions, and the government believes this breach of confidentiality could taint the jury pool and prejudice the case outcome.

“The disclosure may result in harassment or intimidation of government witnesses-in a case in which witness tampering is among the charges-and may compromise ongoing related cases and investigations,” Chief Amundson explained.

Pras is currently on trial facing serious allegations that he and his co-conspirators received money from Jho Low and the 1MDB fund and used illegal foreign and conduit contributions to political committees supporting then-presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Additionally, Michel and Low are accused of secretly agreeing to lobby the Trump Administration and Department of Justice to drop the investigation of Low’s role in the embezzlement of billions of dollars from 1MDB.

Furthermore, Michel and Low allegedly acted as agents of a Chinese Minister to arrange the removal and return of a dissident living in the United States in exchange for millions of dollars.

The government’s move to prosecute Pras Michel and his legal team for leaking sensitive information adds another dimension to a complex case.

The government has requested that a court issue an Order to Show Cause, notifying defense counsel of the contempt charge and setting a bench trial to resolve the matter.

EXCLUSIVE: Jim Jones Says Dr. Dre Is Sitting On An EP Worth Of Dipset Songs

Harlem rapper Jim Jones has confirmed a Hip-Hop legend. According to Capo, he and Dr. Dre have about four or five songs recorded that have never seen the light of day— adding to the iconic vault of hits the producer has at his disposal.

The rapper sat down with AllHipHop.com owner Chuck Creekmur and DJ Thoro on “The Amazing AllHipHop Podcast” and shared how Dre is the only producer to make him do his verse over multiple times.

The Saucy owner describes the studio session as a “great night.”

According to the “Ballin’” chart-topper, Dre brought the Diplomats in to help him “recreate his sound” for an album he was working on.

During the interview, Jim Jones revealed Dr. Dre did something that no other producer had ever made him do: run back those verses.

“It was the first time had somebody really make me do my verse over like twenty times,” the rapper said. “It had made me think about Tupac and Snoop and all the others that had to get the beats from Dre,” Jim Jones told AllHipHop.com.

It said he felt like Dre punked him and made him feel like he was “cursing” at him without even knowing it.

During the interview, Jim Jones explained how he felt about Dre’s production style— saying that in the Aftermath founder’s pursuit of perfection, he had to be careful not to step on other rappers’ artistic expression.

After all, the Diplomats are hit makers too.

When asked if he wanted Dre to drop the songs,  Jim Jones answered in true Capo form … “He better not put it out because I am charging him $2 million for my verse.”

The interview also includes him talking about his new project with HitMaka and the new direction of his music. One bomb he drops is a conversation about Drake as a Dipset member.

Lil Dicky Hopes Overcoming Insecurities About His Penis Inspires Others

Season three of Dave returned to the FX network on April 5. The show’s creator, rapper/comedian David “Lil Dicky” Burd, also stars as a fictionalized version of himself on the program.

The on-screen version of Lil Dicky confirms having hypospadias, a condition where the opening of the penis is on the underside instead of the tip. The real-life Pennsylvania native wants the world to know that the TV character reflects the actual hardships of the actor.

“Everyone has their own things they struggle with in life, and what I want this show to do is if someone sees me dealing with insecurities about my penis in a proactive way, then maybe it will inspire them to look at their insecurities and not be so affected by them,” Dicky told Billboard.

The 35-year-old “Freaky Friday” performer added, “I want the show to inspire people to live their best lives… I think that’s always been my biggest strength, how unabashedly honest I am.”

“Freaky Friday” featuring R&B star Chris Brown earned a 5x-Platinum plaque from the RIAA. That collaboration rose to No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest placement on that chart of Lil Dicky’s career.

His mainstream breakout hit “Save Dat Money” featuring Fetty Wap and Rich Homie Quan received 2x-Platinum certification. A charity single called “Earth” went Platinum and made it to No. 17 on the Hot 100. Lil Dicky’s Gold-certified debut studio album, Professional Rapper, opened at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In addition to Lil Dicky, the main cast of Dave includes Andrew Santino, Taylor Misiak, Christine Ko, Los Angeles rapper GaTa, and Travis “Taco” Bennett of Odd Future. Celebrities like YG, Young Thug, Gunna, Doja Cat, Lil Yachty, Rae Sremmurd, and Lil Nas X have made cameo appearances.

Lil Mosey Talks Rebuilding His Life After Not Guilty Verdict In Rape Case [VIDEO]

Lathan Moses Stanley Echols faced a second-degree rape charge in Lewis County, Washington. Last month, a jury found the rapper/singer, better known as Lil Mosey, not guilty of the alleged crime.

Lil Mosey sat down with Billboard for an interview following the announcement of the acquittal. The 21-year-old, Seattle-raised musician addressed his two-year-long ordeal with the criminal justice system.

“It’s been tough. It’s definitely been tough mentally. I kinda had to rebuild my whole life,” said Mosey. “It sucks to have something like that be attached to my name, knowing I didn’t do it and the whole world can see that.”

Lil Mosey maintained his innocence since the news broke in 2021. He pleaded not guilty to the rape charge stemming from the alleged January 2020 incident at a cabin in Randle. A conviction could have led to a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The Certified Hitmaker album creator continued, “The jury found me not guilty. It’s just tough. I’m grateful for the fans that have been here and all the support they’ve shown.” Mosey has already turned his attention back to the music.

Lil Mosey’s “Flu Game” single arrived on March 17. An official music video for the song premiered on the same date. The visuals have amassed more than 2.2 million YouTube views. “Flu Game” joins a catalog that includes the 2x-Platinum “Noticed” and the Top 10 hit “Blueberry Faygo.”

“My voice is changing so when recording I see myself hitting a bunch of different types of notes. Notes that when I was like 16, 17 – my voice would crack,” explained Mosey. “Now, I’m a man so I can hit certain notes that I wasn’t able to hit. The songs I’m creating are just, to me, next level.”

Hitmaka Recalls DMX Preventing Him From Losing His Virginity

Before changing his professional name to Hitmaka, the rapper/producer born Christian J. Ward signed to DMX’s Bloodline Records in the early 2000s. The former Iceberg/Yung Berg spoke with Swaggy Sie for SiriusXM, and he told a personal story involving his ex-label boss.

“[DMX] took my first piece of p#### that I ever was gonna get in my life,” Hitmaka told Swaggy Sie. “That story is always a great one. I’ll never forget. We were at this pool hall because he loved to play pool. We [were] all there and then from the pool hall we went to a club in Toronto.”

Hitmaka explained how he met a female DMX fan at the Canadian nightclub. After taking the woman back to the Sutton Place Hotel, the situation did not go as the then-virgin had planned partially due to the fact his room was close to DMX’s penthouse space.

“I go upstairs with the girl. I swear to God, I was putting the key into the hotel room, [DMX’s] door swung open. I’m like, ‘Wassup, dog?’ He’s like, ‘Wassup, shawty? Hey, yo ma, I think you left your purse inside my room.’ I’m like, ‘Wait, we ain’t ever even been here. Like, we just met these girls. How did she leave her purse inside your room?'”

Hitmaka continued, “She left me and went. I guess the dog handled his business. I went out, and s###, I was high and dry, but it is what it is. You’re gonna lose some. If you’re gonna lose some good quality energy from a good woman, you might as well lose it to DMX. It is what it is.”

DMX (born Earl Simmons) passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 50. The Hip Hop legend released several albums such as 1998’s classic It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot. Hitmaka now works mostly as an A&R who produces songs for acts like T.I., Lil Durk, Yung Bleu, and Chlöe Bailey.

Angela “Blac Chyna” White Announces New Role In ‘B.A.P.S.’ Play

B.A.P.S. will head to the stage in Michigan next month. Apparently, director/producer Je’Caryous Johnson cast Angela “Blac Chyna” White to play the role of Nisi.

The film version of B.A.P.S. premiered in 1997 and went on to earn cult classic status. Academy Award winner Halle Berry portrayed Nisi in the buddy comedy by legendary filmmaker Robert Townsend.

“Wow, God is so good and everything that I’ve ever envisioned is finally all happening! I’m so excited to announce that I will be playing ‘Nisi’ the role that @halleberry played in 1997,” wrote Blac Chyna on Instagram.

Je’Caryous Johnson’s B.A.P.S. Live production will run for four shows in Detroit between May 12 and May 14. Blac Chyna and the rest of the cast will reportedly then head to Los Angeles from May 18-21 and Atlanta from June 8-11.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CqqdAv9vIGh/?hl=en

There was recent speculation that a B.A.P.S. movie reboot was in the works. Robert Townsend even claimed Hip Hop artists Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion expressed interest in starring in the possible motion picture. Cardi later downplayed the rumor of her involvement.

Angela “Blac Chyna” White stepping into Halle Berry’s shoes for B.A.P.S. Live comes after the reality television star publicized her physical and spiritual transformation from Blac Chyna back to Angela White. She recently spoke about reversing some of her cosmetic procedures.

“This is me now. So you can see the difference, right here in the cheek area. Yeah, see when I smile, now you can see all of my teeth. I had so much filler in my lips to where as though I couldn’t even barely smile, but you see now when I smile,” said White on The Tamron Hall Show.

In addition to overseeing B.A.P.S. Live, Je’Caryous Johnson also presented the Set It Off and New Jack City stage plays. Set It Off Live originally starred Da Brat, LeToya Luckett, Kyla Pratt, and Demetria McKinney. The New Jack City Live theatrical adaptation presently features Allen Payne, Anthony “Treach” Criss, Flex Alexander, and Gary Dourdan.

In the 1990s, entertainment fans best knew Marques Houston as a member of the R&B group Immature or as a cast member on the Sister, Sister sitcom. The 41-year-old singer/actor made headlines in recent years for his relationship with Miya Dickey.

Marques Houston and Miya Dickey got married in 2020. Dickey was 19 years old at the time. Houston was 38. They first met when Dickey was just 17 years old. The “That Girl” performer spoke about the nearly 20-year age gap.

“Me and my wife’s situation is a little different, how we met through mutual friends and everything like that,” states Houston in a clip from an upcoming episode of TV One’s Uncensored series. “When I met my wife, she was 17. So, we had no real conversation, no real connection until, you know, she was of age.”

Many people online have accused Marques Houston of grooming the then-teenager. Those accusations of sexual manipulation came in conjunction with B2K member Raz-B suggesting Houston committed sexual abuse in the past.

Additionally, Marques Houston said about his marriage, “People don’t understand it, and I got a lot of backlash for marrying someone that was 19. When we did finally start to talk I was like, ‘This woman is like me.’ And when I would talk to her she’d just… For one, we had a spiritual connection and I feel like that’s the most important thing. We both love God. We both love Jehovah and that was key.”

Marques Houston previously responded to the grooming allegations in a lengthy Instagram post from 2020. The Jehovah’s Witness claimed Miya Dickey was like “a daughter” to Chris Stokes, the manager who discovered Houston and B2K. Raz-B has also claimed Stokes sexually molested him.

Donald Glover Passed On Dissing Drake And Made Grammys History

While Donald Glover’s 2018 Childish Gambino single “This Is America” received widespread critical acclaim on its release, its reception would have been vastly different if it remained the humorous Drake diss it was intended to be.

“This Is America” was heralded as a statement on gun violence, race, and police brutality in America upon its release. However, according to Donald Glover the song was never meant to be that deep, and his original plan was to diss Drake.

During his wide-ranging GQ cover story, Donald Glover revealed the idea behind the song originated in 2015. At the time, he wanted to diss Drizzy but in a comedic fashion.

“I told [director] Hiro [Murai] the idea, and he’s like, ‘I really want to do that,’” the Swarm co-creator said. “The idea for the song started as a joke. To be completely honest, ‘This is America’ — that was all we had was that line.”

Nonetheless, he had second thoughts after working on the song and decided to go in a different direction.

“It started as a Drake diss, to be honest, as like a funny way of doing it. But then I was like, this s### sounds kind of hard though. So I was like, let me play with it,” he added. Check out a clip from the interview below and watch the “This Is America” video at the end of the page.

Donald Glover Backtracked On Drake Diss But Made History

The decision proved to be a solid one. “This Is America” was one of the most well-received videos in recent history and was universally praised by music critics. The song earned Donald Glover his first Billboard Hot 100 No.1 and topped the charts worldwide.

In addition, “This Is America” was nominated for four Grammys at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards and bagged them all. He made history winning Record of the Year and Song of the Year, the first rap song ever to win both categories.
