Dame Dash Claims Roc-A-Fella Never Feared Violence During JAY-Z Vs. Nas Battle

The Kendrick Lamar versus Drake feud had Hip-Hop culture in a chokehold in 2024. In 2001, JAY-Z versus Nas was the most-talked-about rap battle of that era.

Damon “Dame” Dash had a firsthand viewpoint of his Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder JAY-Z’s rivalry with Nas. According to Dash, the tense back-and-forth between the two legendary MCs did not generate concern of the situation turning violent.

“There was no fear of us getting hurt when it came to Nas. Not at all. Or anybody else we were battling,” Dame Dash declared on a recent episode of the Moguls In the Making podcast.

He continued, “There was no fear of any violence when it came to that. There was no fear when it came to us. Of any battle that we had, when it came to violence, we were never worried about that.”

JAY-Z included the Nas-directed “Takeover” on his 2001 album The Blueprint. Nas fired back with the Stillmatic track “Ether.” Many rap followers consider “Takeover” and “Ether” two of the greatest diss records in Hip-Hop history.

While JAY-Z and Nas both avoided bloodshed during their lyrical conflict, other rappers did lose their lives amid tension between their respective crews. The tragic 1990s deaths of The Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac serve as the most famous example of that possible violent outcome.

“Now, Pac and Biggie, n##### got killed,” Dame Dash stated. “But n##### get killed in Hip-Hop now. They be battling, they be banging on the thing, and then they end up dead. It’s a little more serious now.”

Grand Jury Considering Indicting Diddy Over Mounting Allegations

Federal investigators are reportedly advancing their probe into Diddy, indicating a potential indictment by preparing to bring accusers before a federal grand jury in New York City. According to CNN, the process involves notifying possible witnesses, including those who have filed the eight civil lawsuits against Diddy, of their potential testimonies.

The move to involve a grand jury, which has the power to subpoena documents and witnesses and decide on criminal charges, suggests the investigation has progressed beyond preliminary stages.

The investigation has been extensive, with federal agents interviewing multiple accusers and gathering evidence, including video footage from Diddy’s residences. These efforts have been part of a broader inquiry not only into the sexual assault allegations highlighted in civil lawsuits but also encompassing potential sex trafficking, money laundering and illegal drug activities. The thorough approach aims to build a robust case, ensuring any potential indictment is well-supported.

Diddy has consistently denied the allegations, describing them as attempts at a cash grab. However, the federal probe continues to intensify, with investigators actively gathering and verifying evidence from accusers and other sources. Their dig includes corroborating witness testimonies and physical evidence that may substantiate the claims made in both the civil suits and the broader criminal investigation.

Diddy’s ex Cassie Ventura got the proverbial ball rolling in November 2023, when she filed a civil suit against the Bad Boy Records mogul. Her lawsuit alleged he physically and sexually abused her during their time together. It also claimed he had Kid Cudi’s car blown up in his driveway for briefly dating Ventura in 2011.

Last week, CNN released old surveillance footage of Diddy brutally assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway, proving Ventura wasn’t lying about the abuse she suffered. She later released a statement addressing the clip that read: “Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers, and those I have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now.

“But this is only the beginning. Domestic violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past. Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously.”

On Tuesday (May 28), Rolling Stone ran a story from its six-month investigation into Diddy that included interviews with more than 50 people from the embattled rapper’s past. They all described Diddy as a driven but violent and angry person who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted.

Diddy apologized for his actions caught on tape in an Instagram video earlier this month. He said in part, “I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

Cam’ron & Ma$e Turn Down Chance To Walk Out Mike Tyson For Fight Against Jake Paul?

“Iron” Mike Tyson is set to face Jake “El Gallo” Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. According to Cam’ron, the July 20 boxing match could have featured an appearance by the rapper-turned-podcaster and his co-host, Ma$e.

“They offered us the walkout with Mike Tyson, possibly. I ain’t want to put this out there,” Cam’ron revealed on his It Is What It Is show. “This was before this incident. I’m like, ‘I’m not sure if I want to do that.’ Now, I’m probably not going to do it.”

There have been concerns about whether the fight will still take place. Recent reports claimed Mike Tyson, 57, became “nauseous and dizzy” during a Monday (May 26) flight from Miami to Los Angeles. The Baddest Man on the Planet apparently received treatment after the plane landed.

Cam’ron also said, “I don’t want n##### blaming me for nothing when n##### don’t win. Like when [Devin Haney] lost to [Ryan Garcia], n##### said, ‘Why’s he wearing Balenciaga sneakers?’” The Purple Haze album creator added, “If we walk Mike out and Mike don’t win… I don’t really know if I need that type of pressure if s### don’t go right.”

Netflix plans to livestream the Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson bout. In addition, the highly publicized event will present undercard matchups such as Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serran and Julio César Chávez Jr. versus Darren Till.

“I want Mike to win, I hope he wins. I hope it’s really an awesome situation,” Cam’ron stated. He continued, “I would say, if you’re not feeling right, Mike, don’t fight because if the fight comes, and you don’t perform well, and then you try to use this excuse, nobody’s gonna want to hear that.”

T.I. Believes Young Thug Will Beat Georgia RICO Case

Jeffery “Young Thug” Williams faces multiple charges in his ongoing criminal trial in Fulton County, Georgia. Fellow Atlanta-bred rapper T.I. thinks Thug will beat the case.

T.I. appeared on a morning radio show on Tuesday (May 28). At one point, the trap music legend spoke about Young Thug’s current legal troubles.

“He’s coming home,” the self-proclaimed King of the South told The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne tha God about his presently incarcerated “About The Money” collaborator.

T.I. also said, “I don’t think that the prosecution has successfully proven a case of him knowingly and willingly participating in an active street gang. I just don’t see it.”

Fulton County prosecutors, led by District Attorney Fani Willis, accused Young Thug of several gang-related crimes. One of the YSL Records founder’s charges includes conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

“I don’t think that the witnesses they’ve called thus far have proven what they said they would prove,” T.I. added. “I just don’t think that the grounds of their case have been presented properly.”

Young Thug was among more than two dozen defendants indicted in the RICO case. YSL recording artist Sergio “Gunna” Kitchens pleaded guilty in December 2022 to a single charge of racketeering.

“Fresh Prince” Actor Alfonso Ribeiro Refuses To Work With Tyler Perry

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro does not seem to be a fan of Tyler Perry. The current Dancing with the Stars host let a social media user know not to expect to see him in any Perry productions.

“@tylerperry needs to revamp @alfonso_ribeiro career, I just know he could,” the @TRUlydgaf X account posted on Monday (May 27). Alfonso Ribeiro responded to that tweet about Tyler Perry.

The 52-year-old entertainment industry veteran replied, “I don’t need or ever want that man to do anything for me.” Ribeiro’s post collected 63,000 likes and 8.8 million views.

Tyler Perry has become a polarizing figure. Many of his supporters praise the billionaire filmmaker/playwright for employing Black talent who may get overlooked or rejected by the Hollywood establishment.

In contrast, critics complain about Perry’s characterization of the Black community in his projects, particularly Black men. He also faces critiques for the overall quality of his television shows and movies.

Alfonso Ribeiro did not specify why he has no interest in working with Tyler Perry. In a recent interview, Ribeiro expressed that portraying Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air hurt his standing as an actor.

“I used to always say doing Carlton was the greatest and worst thing that ever happened to me. It was one of the greatest roles that I ever was fortunate enough to play,” Ribeiro stated.

In addition, he said, “But it was also the role that stopped me from acting again because people couldn’t see me as anything else. The sacrifice was not having an acting career anymore.”

Kendrick Lamar Thinks He Looks “Cute” In Chanel Photoshoot Per Text Exchange With TDE’s Punch

After scoring a decisive victory in his battle with Drake, Kendrick Lamar has remained mostly silent in public. However, one of the pgLang founder’s private conversations came to light.

Photos of Kendrick Lamar posing for a Chanel campaign hit the internet. Terrence “Punch” Henderson, president of Lamar’s former label home Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), had some jokes about the images for the French luxury fashion house.

Punch shared a text exchange he had with K. Dot on social media. During the conversation, the A Room Full of Mirrors member asked Lamar, “What you doing dawg?”

Kendrick Lamar responded, “I think I’m cute on there man. Couldn’t resist.” Punch then texted back, “What are you doing with them dreamy eyes n####??” Lamar replied, “I’m crying dawg.”

TDE released Kendrick Lamar’s five studio LPs, including 2022’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. The Compton-raised MC launched the pgLang entertainment company with former TDE executive Dave Free in 2020.

Punch addressed Lamar’s departure in September 2022, saying at the time, “Even if they fall on their head, they gotta fall on their head, get up, learn from that, and keep moving. You’re concerned always. But it’s still like, ‘I’m proud of you, bro. Do what you do.’ If you need something, the phone is open,”

Slim Shady and magician David Blaine broke the news on Tuesday night (May 28) with a video post that included a FaceTime call between the two celebrities.

In the clip, Eminem asks Blaine to do him a favor: “How far can we go with this magic? Can we do a stunt or something? Blaine replies, “Like this?” and proceeds to bite into a wine glass. Shady retorts, “For my last trick, I’m going to make my career disappear.” Blaine, confused, asks, “Wait, what?”

From there, Eminem reveals the name and release date of the single with, “Houdini. 5.31.2024.”

Eminem announced The Death of Slim Shady in April shortly after Eminem opened the 2024 NFL Draft in his hometown of Detroit. The announcement, which arrived via the NFR Podcast, included a teaser for the project starring 50 Cent. The concept revolved around an investigation into the murder of Slim Shady, Eminem’s longtime alter ego. The caption read simply, “EMINEM-THE DEATH OF SLIM SHADY. NEW ALBUM. SUMMER 2024.”

“Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” the reporter says in the clip. “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”

50 Cent offered, “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.”

The project is expected to arrive sometime this summer. Until then, check out the announcement above.

It looks like Eminem fans will have something to look forward to on May 31. The diamond-selling MC continued the rollout out for his upcoming studio album, The Death of Slim Shady, on Monday (May 20) with a cryptic tweet.

The post included a photo of a text message with the vanishing effect revealing the words, “…and for my last trick!” The date on the message was May 31, 2024 at 12 a.m. (presumably Eastern).

Considering that’s a Friday, it’s not hard to conclude what he’s suggesting. After all, he did say the album was arriving this summer—not spring. Now, Stans are eagerly expecting the first single from the album to arrive that day.

Eminem also took out an ad in the Detroit Free Press that doubled as a fake obituary for his longtime alter ego. It read in part, “That audience was soon exposed to the extreme darkness of the muse/rapper, as he led millions of music fans down a road that glorified a demonstrably nihilistic worldview.

“Ultimately, the very things that seemed to be the tools he used became calling cards that defined an existence that could only come to a sudden and horrific end. His complex and tortured existence has come to a close, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which this character departed this world.”

The latest Twitter (X) post comes on the heels of the wedding of Eminem’s daughter Hailie Jade Scott. The 28-year-old podcaster wed Evan McClintock in a lavish ceremony at the Greencrest Manor in Battle Creek, Michigan over the weekend. Photos of Eminem dancing with Scott were posted online.

As for The Death of Slim Shady, the project serves as the follow-up to 2020’s Music to Be Murdered By (Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment, Interscope Records).

Diddy’s Downfall: College Classmate Accuses Mogul Of Beating Ex With Belt—And Much More

Diddy‘s downfall continued on Tuesday night (May 28), when Rolling Stone published its six-month investigation into the horrific allegations levied against the embattled mogul (real name Sean Combs).

The publication said it interviewed roughly 50 people from Diddy’s past, including ex-friends, former classmates at Howard University and old co-workers. Almost all of them remembered a diabolic and “volatile” yet driven man, who would often break into fits of rage. Others recalled his blatant greed and desperation for success following the 1997 murder of The Notorious B.I.G.

Photographer Monqiue Bunn suggested Biggie’s death could have been more sinister than initially thought. Numerous reports allege Biggie had been planning to leave Bad Boy Records shortly before his death at the same time Diddy had been fighting with the “Big Poppa” rapper’s attorneys over publishing rights.

“[Biggie] was absolutely about to leave Puff,” Bunn said. “I know for a fact [because] he told me that.” Another source adds, “Everybody wanted to leave Puffy. Everybody leaves him.”

The article continued, “Combs capitalized on the shock and sorrow over Wallace’s death. Brookshire — who had been traveling in the same SUV as Wallace during press events the day before he died — says Combs denied her request for time off to process her grief. Instead, just two weeks after the slaying, she says, Combs ordered her to focus all efforts on Wallace’s upcoming album, Life After Death. Combs demanded it be “Number one, number one, number one, number one, number one. Top 10, top 10, top 10.”

Diddy was also accused by a fellow former Howard University student of beating an ex-girlfriend with a belt.  As the story explained, “’Puff is out here acting crazy. He’s beating her,’ the fellow students said, according to the classmate. He screamed and hollered and acted a stone fool until she came downstairs, another Howard student who witnessed the alleged attack said.

“She says Combs used what appeared to be a belt to strike the young woman ‘all over the place.’ Speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the incident, the witness said Combs appeared ‘super angry’ and was ‘screaming at the top of his lungs.’ She says he ‘whupped her butt — like really whupped her butt.’ The witness says the woman was clearly terrorized: ‘She was trying to defend herself a little bit. She was crying. And we were telling him, ‘Get off of her.’ We were screaming for her.’ A third source also recalled the alleged assault to Rolling Stone. (The woman at the center of the alleged attack declined comment.)”

That wasn’t all. Diddy also supposedly paraded his sexual exploits around a teenage USHER, who told Rolling Stone in 2004, “Puff introduced me to a totally different set of s### — sex, specifically,” Usher recalled to Rolling Stone in 2004. “There was always girls around. You’d open a door and see somebody doing it, or several people in a room having an orgy. You never knew what was going to happen.”

Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who’s been at the center of the controversy since suing him November 2023 for rape, physical assault and more, alleged in lawsuit Diddy was a functioning drug addict.

“Drugs were a consistent part of Combs’ life, Ventura alleges in her lawsuit, claiming he was ‘addicted to prescription painkillers and took ecstasy frequently’ She claims he had pills and other drugs out in the open ‘like candy’ and that he would supply alcohol, ecstasy, cocaine, the sedative GHB, ketamine, and marijuana during ‘freak-offs,'” the story continued. “But far from enhancing a party vibe, Ventura and others say these substances only darkened his mood.

“Once Combs got drunk or high enough, says one frequent party guest in the early 2000s, ‘he would turn violent [and] loud. He would take his anger out on people.’ At several points when Combs was extremely intoxicated, Ventura alleges, he beat her.”

Evidence of Diddy’s abuse became public on Friday (May 24), when CNN released surveillance footage of Diddy brutally assaulting Ventura inside the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. It gave credit to many of the claims Ventura made in her lawsuit.

For now, it doesn’t appear Diddy will find respite anytime soon. 50 Cent just sold his Diddy Do It? documentary to Netflix, he has several other pending sexual assault lawsuits. two of his homes have been raided by Homeland Security and the pressure is mounting. His former bodyguard Gene Deal even suggested he could be arrested for involvement in Tupac Shakur’s murder.

Hit-Boy Finally Concedes In Fan Debate Comparing Prodigy & His Father Big Hit

Hit-Boy is finally beginning to come around to the idea that his father Big Hit’s forbidden twin is none other than the late Mobb Deep lyricist, Prodigy.

It all started after a Prodigy fan page on Twitter (X) replied to a tweet in which Hit-Boy was actually promoting his upcoming Black & Whites collaborative album with The Alchemist, which Big Hit is also a part of via the LP’s lead single, “Foreclosure.”

In a reply within the original thread shared, the fan page shared a pair of photos of P’s frequent collaborator side-by-side with Prodigy, in comparison with Big Hit, to which the West Coast producer couldn’t help but see the resemblance.

“Is Big Hit secretly Prodigy,” the fan page wrote in the tweet.

Hit-Boy replied, revealing it wasn’t the first time he’s fielded theories from his fans comparing his father to the East Coast rap legend.

“This picture makes me see what y’all be saying when y’all tell me Big Hit looks like Prodigy,” Hit-Boy wrote.

He also retweeted a remark from another user, who went a step further than just comparing Big Hit and P’s likeness by breaking down how their shared backgrounds also signaled an otherworldly connection between the pair.

“Even deeper than that Hit, Pops/Prodigy… South Central Cartel… Havoc/Prodeje,” the user wrote. “Even though Pops look like the West Coast Havoc too…but you get where I’m going with it.”

Through The Alchemist’s collaborative history with Prodigy in the early 2000s, his connection with Big Hit via Hit-Boy certainly harkens back moments of déjà vu due to how prolific both lyricists are. Even still, Alchemist’s work producing tracks for Mobb Deep’s 2001 album, Infamy, will forever go down in Hip-Hop history. In a sense, Big Hit has a large void to fill in Prodigy’s absence when it comes to recreating the combination of authentic, dark, introspective lyricism and the haunting production that cemented P and Alchemist’s status as a formidable duo.

Snoop Dogg’s Bowl Game Quickly Makes College Football History With NIL Deals

Snoop Dogg wasn’t exaggerating when he promised to “bring the juice” to college football with his own bowl game. The newly renamed Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl will be the first bowl game to give NIL deals to every player on the participating teams.

“I’m happy to announce the Snoop Dogg AZ Bowl is partnering with brands that will help us be the first bowl — you hear me, the first bowl — to offer NIL money to student-athletes,” Snoop Dogg said in a clip sent to Action Network. “We will be the first bowl to do that. Let’s go, AZ. Let’s go, NCAA. Let’s go, players.”

NCAA student-athletes received permission to make money off their name, image and likeness in 2021. Some bowl games offered NIL deals to select players, but Snoop raised the bar by vowing to compensate every member of the two teams in his game.

“This was 100 percent Snoop Dogg’s idea,” Arizona Bowl executive director Kym Adair said.

Snoop agreed to a multi-year sponsorship deal with the Arizona Bowl. His bowl game will feature teams from the Mid-American and Mountain West conferences.

“Adding NIL opportunities for the student-athletes of the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl presented by Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop is the next evolution in college sports, and we wanted to lead by example,” he said. “We can’t wait to give our players the opportunity to serve the community of Tucson during bowl week while at the same time using their name, image and likeness to rightfully earn money for themselves and their families.”

Adair added, “When Snoop approached us with this idea, it was obvious that he has a deep respect and appreciation for the new opportunities afforded by student-athletes through NIL, and he wanted to show support for them by [being] the first bowl to make this type of commitment. We can’t wait to make his vision a reality.”

The Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl will be held in Tucson on December 28.

Cardi B Pushes Back Against Candace Owens’ Call For Pornography Ban

Cardi B defended pornography after far-right commentator Candace Owens lobbied for a ban. The Atlantic Records artist questioned why pornography bothered Owens and others so much in an Instagram comment.

“Ommmggg why yall so against p###?” Cardi B wrote, per TMZ. “Is it that bad for yall? I enjoy but I don’t know I guess [it] is a like a 6 time a year thing. I personally don’t feel no connection or addiction to it just a little quick one tow …. NOTHING LIKE REAL INTIMACY!”

Cardi B saw pornography as something helpful, adding, “It actually should teach men how to please a woman.”

Earlier this month, Owens called for a ban on pornography via X (formerly known as Twitter). She claimed it was a source of evil.

“Ban pornography,” Owens wrote. It is a psychological weapon intended to weaken our men.”

She added, “Pornography was created as a tool of enslavement, not freedom. It was created by the most depraved among our human race to psychologically introduce homosexuality, pedophilia and incest—religious sacraments to satanists. BAN IT & stigmatize every person who defends or profits from it.”

Cardi B reacted to the over-the-top comments on social media, which has caused problems for her in the past. The hitmaking rapper recently admitted she was “at peace a lot” when she went on a social media hiatus, but she refused to step away permanently.

Fans are still waiting for Cardi B to release her sophomore album. Listeners had to settle for singles and collaborations over the past few years. Music lovers may get to hear a unique collab in the future as legendary singer Patti LaBelle teased a potential song with Cardi B.

“Why not? She’s like one of my new best friends,” LaBelle told Entertainment Tonight when asked about them making music together. “To know that she was into Patti LaBelle. She’s like my new buddy.”

Cardi B and LaBelle previously teamed up to promote their Whipshots and Good Life Pies brands in a crossover campaign.

SIGNS: Tennessee Mayor Faces Resignation Demands Over Viral Video Berating His Daughter

A jaw-dropping scandal centered around the conduct of Mayor Christopher “Fo Fo” Franklin during a family dispute has rocked the small town of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas.

Mayor Franklin is facing a firestorm of controversy and an outcry for his resignation following a shocking Facebook Live broadcast. In the now-viral video, Mayor Franklin unleashes a torrent of profanity and derogatory remarks at his adult daughter and niece, leaving residents in disbelief and demanding his immediate resignation.

During the tirade, Franklin can be heard shouting, “Jayla, your h## ass. All you doing is popping tricks,” and continues with even more graphic and offensive language, telling his daughter and niece to “drop to your muthafu##ing knees and eat this d##k.”

He even tells his daughter and niece they both should be dead at one point during the rant. The video, which stretches on for several minutes, captures an intense and vulgar exchange that has been described by the city council as “prurient, grotesque, misogynistic, narcissistic, nauseating and in no wise expressive of all the people of our city.”

The scandal prompted the Helena-West Helena City Council to convene and address the issue in a special meeting. In a strongly worded document, the council “undeniably” requested Mayor Franklin’s immediate resignation and censured him for conduct unbecoming of his office. The council also demanded a complete and contrite apology from Franklin to all those impacted by his actions.

Despite the public outcry and pressure from the city council, Arkansas state police and the Attorney General’s office have stated they have no plans to investigate the matter. Meanwhile, residents like Kimberly Hardison are vocal about their dissatisfaction, questioning Franklin’s ability to lead the city. “What type of mayor gets online and talks like this?” Hardison asked, calling for his resignation.

In response to the backlash, Mayor Franklin issued a statement on Facebook, apologizing for his language but standing by his feelings.

“I am sincerely sorry for the way I expressed myself today,” he wrote. “I am not sorry for how I feel which led me to say those things. You don’t know the story behind this matter; and you won’t. It is personal and private to my family.”

As the scandal continues to unfold, the residents of Helena-West Helena are left grappling with the fallout and questioning the future leadership of their town. And to add insult to injury, Mayor Franklin has been dealing with an ongoing water crisis in the city, which reportedly left residents without clean drinking water for weeks earlier this year.

Robert De Niro Bickers With MAGA Protesters At Trump Trial Ahead Of Nas Interview

Robert De Niro bashed Donald Trump outside of the New York courtroom where the former president’s hush money trial is being held on Tuesday (May 28). The acclaimed actor spoke at a press conference alongside officers who fought against Trump supporters in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

“We New Yorkers used to tolerate [Trump] when he was just another crappy real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot,” De Niro said. “I love this city. I don’t want to destroy it. Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city but the country, and, eventually, he could destroy the world.”

He continued, “I don’t mean to scare you. No, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted.”

Trump is running for president again while facing four criminal cases. His hush money case was the first to go to trial.

New York prosecutors charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection to a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels. The trial’s closing arguments began on Tuesday.

Outside of the courtroom, De Niro argued with pro-Trump protesters. Trump loyalists resorted to name-calling, telling De Niro he was a “punk” and “sellout.”

“You’re not going to intimidate,” De Niro fired back, per NBC News. “That’s what Trump does … We are going to fight back. We’re trying to be gentlemen in this world … You are gangsters!”

De Niro also had choice words for a person who called him “washed up.”

“F### you!” he said.

The Academy Award winner appeared at Trump’s trial a few weeks before the Tribeca Film Festival’s “De Niro Con” in New York. Nas will moderate a conversation with De Niro and director Martin Scorsese to discuss the classic film Mean Streets on June 15.

Sean Kingston Slapped With 10 Criminal Charges For Ripping Off Banks & Businesses

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office accused Sean Kingston of grand theft and fraud, resulting in 10 criminal charges in Florida. Kingston remained in custody following a May 23 raid on his home.

Kingston’s mother Janice Turner was arrested when authorities raided his home in Florida. Kingston was apprehended in California on the same day. He was held without bail pending extradition.

“We were in the process of having him return to Florida after his show,” Kingston’s lawyer Bob Rosenblatt told NBC News. “We want him back ASAP so we can show this is merely a civil case and not criminal. We look forward to challenging this case in court. “

Kingston and his mother allegedly defrauded multiple businesses. They faced grand theft charges for a Cadillac Escalade valued at $159,701, $480,000 worth of jewelry and a $86,568 bed.

Additional charges were related to Kingston defrauding banks and writing bad checks. According to Rolling Stone, authorities said he violated his probation for trafficking stolen property.

Dennis Card, an attorney representing a company suing Kingston, claimed the singer engaged in “organized systematic fraud.”

“He’s got basically a script, he says that he works with Justin Bieber and that he obviously puts on a big show here,” Card said. “[The raided home] is a rental house, he doesn’t own it, and he lures people using his celebrity into having them release things without him paying for it and then he simply never pays.”

The lawyer continued, “He’s 100 percent a scammer, he’s on felony probation right now for trafficking in stolen property, he’s got judgments against him for procuring more than $1 million in watches without paying for them. This is just an ongoing pattern for Sean.”

Kingston’s mother faced eight charges for her role in the fraud scheme. She was released on a $160,000 bond.

A$AP Rocky Gives Stamp Of Approval To Tariq Nasheed’s Hip-Hop Documentary

A$AP Rocky attended the premiere of Tariq Nasheed’s documentary Microphone Check: The Hidden History of Hip-Hop over Memorial Day Weekend. Nasheed touted his film as dispelling the myths of Hip-Hop’s origins.

AllHipHop’s Chuck Creekmur spoke with Nasheed to discuss controversial aspects of the documentary, which disputes Latinos’ role in Hip-Hop’s creation. Nasheed, a leading voice of the Foundational Black Americans movement, believed there was a corporate-led effort to rewrite Hip-Hop’s history.

“In the last 15 years, there’s been this push by the corporate media to say that Hip-Hop was started by Blacks and Latinos,” Nasheed said. “And they’ve been pushing that narrative real hard. And that’s just not true. Not taking anything away from the Latino brothers and sisters, but they came later. And they did phenomenal things. But in the early stages of Hip-Hop, all the pioneers have said this: ‘We was just out there by ourselves. We were doing it by ourselves.’ And the Latino cats were the first students.”

He continued, “We gotta be very careful with people doing that ‘we co-created something together’ because what I’ve seen, people try to ease over and say, ‘Well, the Latinos actually started it first and then we started learning from them.’ And that’s where it gets dangerous because then we’re gonna end up in the same realm we were in with country music.”

Microphone Check features interviews with Hip-Hop pioneers Grandmaster Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz, Busy Bee, Sha-Rock, MC Debbie D, Coke La Rock, DJ Hollywood and more. Nasheed could not interview two of Hip-Hop’s most well-known pioneers: DJ Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash.

Nasheed, an internet personality accused of peddling conspiracy theories, claimed he tried to interview Latinos for Microphone Check. He believed no Latinos spoke to him because there’s no proof they contributed to the birth of Hip-Hop.

“It shouldn’t be so hard to give credit to Black people for creating something,” Nasheed said. “When Hip-Hop was negative, we got all the credit. When it was looked at as violent and degenerate, oh [it’s] Blacks. Now that it’s a corporate thing, it’s going to the Olympics, well, other people contributed … If we let them, they’ll say everybody created it. So, we have to put our foot down and say, ‘Look, This is what it is. This is the definitive narrative of the story and we’re gonna leave it at that.’”

From the Streets to the Stadium: How Hip-Hop Culture Infiltrated the World of Sports

The fusion of hip hop culture and sports has evolved into a powerful and influential relationship, reshaping the landscape of both industries. This article delves into the journey of hip hop from its origins on the streets to its significant presence in stadiums worldwide, displaying detailed statistics, records, and key figures without omission.

The Origins of Hip Hop Culture

Hip hop culture originated in the Bronx, New York, during the 1970s. DJ Kool Herc, often credited as the father of hip hop, hosted his first block party on August 11, 1973. This event marked the beginning of a cultural movement characterized by four key elements: DJing, MCing, breakdancing, and graffiti art. Hip hop rapidly spread throughout New York City, becoming a voice for the urban youth and a platform for expressing social and political issues.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, hip hop evolved into a global phenomenon. Pioneering artists like Grandmaster Flash, Run-D.M.C., and Public Enemy brought hip hop to mainstream audiences. The genre diversified, with subgenres such as gangsta rap, conscious rap, and alternative hip hop emerging. By the 1990s, artists like Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z dominated the charts, solidifying hip hop’s place in popular culture.

The Intersection of Hip Hop and Sports

Athletes in various sports began embracing hip hop culture, incorporating its style, music, and attitude into their personal brands. Basketball players like Allen Iverson, known for his cornrows, tattoos, and hip-hop fashion, became cultural icons. Iverson’s 2001 MVP season with the Philadelphia 76ers exemplified the blend of hip hop and sports, influencing a generation of athletes.

Sports brands recognized the marketing potential of hip hop, using it to connect with younger audiences. Nike’s collaboration with rapper Nelly in the early 2000s and Reebok’s partnership with Jay-Z for the S. Carter Collection in 2003 are notable examples. These collaborations boosted sales and reinforced the connection between hip hop and sports.

Iconic Moments with Sports

The Super Bowl halftime show has become a platform for iconic hip hop performances. In 2004, Nelly and P. Diddy performed alongside Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, bringing hip hop to the forefront of the event. The 2022 halftime show, featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, further highlighted hip hop’s influence, with over 100 million viewers tuning in.

The NBA All-Star Weekend is another event where hip hop and sports converge. The 2003 All-Star Game in Atlanta featured a halftime performance by Mariah Carey and Jay-Z, highlighting cultural synergy. The annual celebrity game, where hip hop artists and athletes compete, has become a staple of the weekend’s festivities.

Influence on Athlete Endorsement

Shaquille O’Neal, one of the most dominant NBA players, pursued a successful rap career alongside his basketball achievements. His debut album “Shaq Diesel,” released in 1993, went platinum, demonstrating the crossover appeal of athletes in hip hop. Shaq’s endorsement deals, including a $15 million contract with Reebok, benefited from his dual presence in sports and music.

The Role of Fashion in Hip Hop

Streetwear, heavily influenced by hip hop, has become a dominant fashion trend in sports. Brands like Supreme, Off-White, and A Bathing Ape (BAPE) have gained popularity among athletes. Collaborations between these brands and sports figures, such as Nike and Off-White’s “The Ten” collection, have further solidified this relationship.

In 2005, the NBA implemented a dress code mandating business casual attire for players. This move was seen as a response to the hip hop-inspired fashion trends prevalent in the league. Despite initial resistance, the dress code led to a new era of fashion in the NBA, with players like Russell Westbrook and Dwyane Wade becoming style icons.

Influence on Sports Media

ESPN has embraced hip hop culture, incorporating it into its programming. The network’s flagship show, SportsCenter, frequently features hip hop tracks during highlight reels. In 2018, ESPN collaborated with Chance the Rapper for a special NBA playoff promo, blending sports analysis with hip hop music.

Shows like “NBA Rooks” on NBA TV and “The Shop” on HBO, featuring LeBron James and Maverick Carter, combine sports discussions with hip hop culture. These programs offer a platform for athletes and artists to share their perspectives, highlighting the cultural intersection.

Hip-Hop and Sports Betting

The popularity of hip-hop has extended into sports betting, influencing trends and behaviors. Celebrities like Drake and Snoop Dogg openly discuss their bets on social media, encouraging fans to engage in sports betting. This cultural influence has contributed to the growing acceptance and legalization of sports betting in various regions.

Betting companies are capitalizing on the connection between hip-hop and sports. For instance, promotions such as the “BetMGM Bonus Code” offer exclusive betting bonuses, attracting a younger, hip-hop-savvy audience. These promotions leverage the cultural cachet of hip-hop to draw in new customers, showcasing the symbiotic relationship between the two industries.

The Future of Hip Hop and Sports

The future holds promising collaborations between hip hop artists and sports entities. Artists like Travis Scott and Drake have already partnered with major sports brands, creating limited edition merchandise and exclusive content. These collaborations are expected to continue, driving innovation and cultural synergy.

Hip hop’s influence on sports extends beyond professional arenas, impacting youth and community programs. Initiatives like the NBA’s Hip Hop Camps and community outreach programs use hip hop to engage young athletes, promoting physical activity and artistic expression. This grassroots influence ensures the continued growth and integration of hip hop and sports.

Conclusion

The integration of hip hop culture into the world of sports has created a dynamic and influential relationship. From the streets of the Bronx to the stadiums of global sports, hip hop has reshaped fashion, media, marketing, and community engagement. As both industries continue to evolve, their intertwined legacy will inspire future generations of athletes and artists.

PinkPantheress Sparks Debate After Saying Songs Don’t Need To Be Longer Than 3 Minutes

The recent Kendrick Lamar versus Drake battle showed that Hip-Hop fans can consume six-minute-long records. However, pop star PinkPantheress believes most songs should be under three minutes.

“I was able to experiment and making short songs was just a result of me experimenting. A song doesn’t need to be longer than two minutes [and] thirty [seconds], in my opinion,” PinkPantheress stated during an interview with ABC News.

The 23-year-old British singer/songwriter continued, “We don’t need to repeat a verse, we don’t need to have a bridge, we don’t need it. We don’t need a long outro.”

A clip of those comments by PinkPantheress hit X. Music fans then debated the ideal length of songs. For example, Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence “Punch” Henderson tweeted, “No more bridges?”

Other social media users called PinkPantheress lazy and criticized her for feeding into the short attention span of the TikTok music era. In contrast, some people agreed with the “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” hitmaker’s take that not every song needs to be at least three minutes.

“Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” comes in at 2:11. The track features Bronx-bred rapper Ice Spice who also regularly puts out under-3-minute singles. PinkPantheress released “Turn It Up” on May 24. That record plays for two minutes and twenty-seven seconds.

Patti LaBelle Open To Making Music With “Buddy” Cardi B

Patti LaBelle turned 80 years old on May 24. The Godmother of Soul plans to celebrate her 80th birthday by releasing a new album.

“It should be out at the end of this year and it’s called 8065. I’m 80 years young and 65 years in show business,” LaBelle explained to Entertainment Tonight.

The legendary R&B singer also teased some possible collaborations for her upcoming body of work. For example, chart-topping Hip-Hop star Cardi B could be a guest feature on the project.

“Why not? She’s like one of my new best friends,” LaBelle stated about possibly making music with Cardi B. The 2-time Grammy Award winner also said, “To know that she was into Patti LaBelle. She’s like my new buddy.”

Previously, Patti LaBelle called Cardi B the “Baby Patti” following their Good Life/Whipshots crossover marketing partnership. That 2023 holiday campaign included the Cardi & Patti promotional digital series.

“I’ve always wanted to meet [Cardi B], and when I met her she said, ‘I’m just so excited to meet you,’” Patti LaBelle told Tamron Hall in November 2023. “She’s not a diva. She’s a beautiful spirit.”

Meanwhile, Cardi’s Bardi Gang fan base has been patiently waiting for the Bronx native to drop her sophomore album for six years. The Grammy Award-winning Invasion of Privacy came out in 2018.

Iggy Azalea Reacts To Fans Thinking She Dissed SZA

Iggy Azalea had to make it clear she did not take a shot at R&B singer/songwriter SZA. Some social media users misinterpreted Azalea’s recent comments.

“Who’s Solana…? I don’t know that b####,” Azalea wrote on the X platform on Sunday (May 27). That tweet collected over 4,000 likes and over 800,000 views, as of press time.

Solána Rowe happens to be SZA’s birth name, so Iggy Azalea felt the need to explain her X post. Someone mentioned SZA in the replies to Azalea’s tweet. The New Classic album creator responded, “Girl, I’m talking about crypto.”

The Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal-founded Solana Labs launched the blockchain platform known as Solana in 2020 with the SOL cryptocurrency. Solana is viewed as an alternative to Ethereum.

After someone expressed finding the Solána (SZA)/Solana mixup funny, Iggy Azalea tweeted, “And I love SZA too! Not about to have Stan Twitter rope her into crypto s###, hahaha lmaooo.”

Iggy Azalea became a platinum-selling recording artist with songs such as “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX and “Black Widow” featuring Rita Ora. In January 2024, Azalea told her followers she currently has other passions besides music.

SZA released her sophomore album, SOS, in December 2022. The project spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. SOS also won Best Progressive R&B Album at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

Erica Banks To Megan Thee Stallion: “It’s A Big Difference Between Me & You”

Erica Banks and Megan Thee Stallion have several things in common. Both Hip-Hop recording artists hail from the state of Texas and rose to prominence as part of Carl Crawford’s 1501 Certified Entertainment.

Those similarities between Erica Banks and Megan Thee Stallion led to fans comparing the two women. A new interview includes Banks leaning into the comparisons by throwing shade at Hot Girl Meg.

In January, Banks dropped her “I Think I Love Em” freestyle over Gucci Mane’s “I Think I Love Her” beat. Megan Thee Stallion also rapped over “I Think I Love Her” for a May 6th #MeganMonday freestyle.

Neighborhood Talk asked Erica Banks about a pinned comment on her Instagram page suggesting Megan Thee Stallion wants to go “freestyle for freestyle.” Banks answered by quoting a song by Meg’s rival, Nicki Minaj.

“Everybody can do a freestyle on whatever beat they choose,” Banks replied about Megan Thee Stallion. “But, it’s a big difference between me and you.”

Erica Banks revealed she parted ways with 1501 Certified Entertainment in June 2023. Megan Thee Stallion went through a years-long legal fight to end her deal with the company. Both sides eventually reached a confidential settlement that same year.
