Lil Tjay’s dedication to maintaining his hair is baffling his fans, who seem to be convinced his locks aren’t growing—at all.
While the theory has long been percolating on social media, Twitter (X) users recently rehashed the New York rapper’s hair saga following his recent watch gifting moment with Polo G. It appears under the renewed spotlight, fans are noticing minimal gains in the length and or “hang time” of Tjay’s signature braids.
Since last month, fans have been roasting Tjay by sharing remarks such as “lil tjay hair been the same length since I was in middle school” and “Soon ima have more hair than Lil Tjay and his hair been like this since he started.”

Believe it or not Tjay previously spoke on the matter and seemingly revealed he’s at a loss himself for what to do in order to get his new growth sprouting regularly.
DJ Envy was issued a subpoena last month to testify in the case against his former business partner, Cesar Pina. The Breakfast Club co-host’s attorney, Daniel Marchese Esq., has confirmed his client will willingly tell his side of the story in front of a judge. As Marchese writes in the court docs, “We are aware that on December 20, 2023, the Court issued an Order compelling the production of documents demanded in those subpoenas. At this time, I am happy to report that on Friday, January 5, 2024, we forwarded our responses and document production to counsel for the Trustee in these aforementioned cases.
“Given the professional back-and-forth between counsel and I since then, it would appear that indeed the responses and the production were acknowledged and received by the Trustee. With this writing, I therefore confirm my client’s compliance with Your Honor’s Order. As I offered to Trustee’s counsel, I will likewise offer to the Court that should sworn testimony (in any form) be needed to affirm my client’s responses and production, he would readily oblige.”
Meanwhile, Pina is attempting to strike a plea deal with federal prosecutors. Court docs obtained by AllHipHop reveal Pina’s attorneys are asking the judge for a continuance, stating, “Counsel for the parties represented that this additional continuance is necessary for effective preparation and to permit the parties to attempt to resolve this case prior to indictment and thereby avoid a trial.”
Federal authorities arrested Pina and charged him with allegedly defrauding dozens of real estate investors late last year. Pina defended Envy in October 2023 not long after his arrest, saying he had nothing to do with the alleged real estate scam and is only being targeted because he’s the more famous of the two.
“DJ Envy was never in the room with me,” Pina told his Instagram followers. “DJ Envy has nothing to do with any of these 20 lawsuits of these people who are suing me. It f###### sucks, bro.”
Pina also said people are “being coerced to sue people affiliated with me just because they are a bigger name. That’s the situation that breaks my heart. In all these lawsuits, these 20 lawsuits, DJ Envy was never in the room with me.”
He did, however, deny DJ Envy was a victim, saying, “I understand his attorney, his defense to DJ Envy is a victim. That’s the dumbest s### I ever heard in my life. Me and him were partners in the real estate seminars. We are partners in a couple of real estate transactions. That’s it. He’s not a victim. He was my partner. He was an investor.”
Nicki Minaj and husband Kenneth Petty are still facing a hefty six-figure lawsuit filed by German concert security workers in May 2023. Minaj is supposedly being accused of “provoking” Petty to attack security at a 2019 concert. The altercation allegedly stems from an occurrence involving a fan running onstage before security could curtail them. Minaj allegedly yelled at a female security guard, in addition to shouting expletives and berating a security guard by the name of Thomas Weidenmuller while recording them on video.
Things apparently got violent later that day when Weidenmuller met with Minaj and Petty and two of their personal security detail members. Weidenmuller claims the Pink Friday 2 rapper repeatedly shouted at him, called his female co-worker a “f###ing b####” and stood by as Petty attacked him—though he hadn’t been provoked.
“While Minaj screamed obscenities at me, Petty repositioned himself out of my eyesight and without warning struck me in the face, which stunned and disoriented me,” court documents allegedly state. “Because of the surprise nature of the attack, I am not sure as to whether Petty hit me with his fist or with a weapon.”
The recent lawsuit follows a tumultuous few months for Petty. In September, he was sentenced to 120 days of house arrest after looking for Offset in New York City after a contentious online exchange. Both Petty and Minaj were also at the center of a $20 million lawsuit last year after his 1994 sexual assault accuser claimed the couple terrorized her for years to get her to recant the rape allegations against Petty. Though she has been formally removed from the lawsuit, Minaj will still be “prominently” featured in the proceedings.

Lecrae is the latest celebrity to share his thoughts on Lil Nas X’s “Christian era” promotional tactics. The Christian recording artist voiced his opinion on X (formerly Twitter).
Lil Nas X released his “J Christ” single on Friday (January 12). The Columbia Records-backed song’s official music video features the Grammy winner dressed as biblical figures Jesus Christ and Noah.
“Okay, I gotta admit Lil Nas is playing with fire mocking Jesus,” Lecrae tweeted. “He’s getting the attention he wants from folks at the risk of searing his conscious.”
The No Church in a While album creator also posted, “Still if God can transform King Neb, [murderers], slave masters, sex workers, etc., he can add another Blasphemer to the list.”
Okay I gotta admit Lil Nas is playing with fire mocking Jesus. he’s getting the attention he wants from folks at the risk of searing his conscious. Still if God can transform King Neb, murders, slave masters, sex workers, etc. he can add another Blasphemer to the list.
Lecrae joined other Christian social media users who have criticized Lil Nas X in recent weeks. For example, professional boxer Ryan Garcia called the openly gay performer’s antics “disrespectful” and “disturbing” in a now-deleted tweet.
Popular Twitch streamer/YouTuber Kai Cenat expressed his hatred for Lil Nas. Cenat told his audience, “He disrespected God himself. He disrespected the whole culture.”
Lil Nas X has dismissed the criticism directed his way. He previously tweeted, “Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world. I’m not making fun of s###. Y’all just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born. [Shut the f### up].”

NBA YoungBoy crowned Charlamagne Tha God “Donkey of the Day” in a video uploaded to Instagram on Friday (January 12). The chart-topping rapper put his own spin on The Breakfast Club segment that usually finds Charlamagne calling out who he thinks deserves the title.
But YoungBoy turned the tables and says in the clip, “Today’s Donkey of the Day is Charlamagne for riding dick too much.” He added in the caption, “Better stop that before you get pregnant.”
https://www.instagram.com/p/C2BRa3lMhYU/?hl=en
NBA YoungBoy’s video comes two days after Charlamagne Tha God named him “Donkey of the Day” for saying he wasn’t “big on [fatherhood]” during an interview with Bootleg Kev.
“He has 11 kids but he’s not really big on fatherhood,” Charlamagne said. “I didn’t know I had to say this, but my brothers, that is wack. What bothers me about statements like this is that NBA YoungBoy talks that gangsta talk in his records. Not only does he talk that gangsta talk, he talks that big-money talk. In the words of Jay-Z, ‘A man that don’t take care of his family can’t be rich.”
He concluded, “You have 11 responsibilities and you cannot abandon your obligation as a parent because you have other plans. The music can’t come before the children. The money can’t come before the children. It just can’t. No matter how big you think you’re doing it, you’re not doing it big at all if you’re not big on fatherhood.”
NBA YoungBoy reportedly has 11 children with several different women—one being Floyd Mayweather’s daughter Iyanna.
When it comes to Hip-Hop and entrepreneurship, few names have made an impact quite like Dame Dash. He rose from the streets of New York to the high echelons of business and entertainment to craft a unique story of perseverance and innovation. Dash co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay-Z and Kareem Burke. That is known, but he didn’t start there nor did he end there.
Dash’s early entrepreneurial spirit manifested in New York City barbershops and sidewalks as he sold newspapers. He quickly moved into the music world with artists like Original Flavor, setting up his legendary path. Dash’s ambitions didn’t stop at music. His multifaceted business acumen continues today, although the road has been jagged.
These days, Dash admits that his money is funny, but that hasn’t quelled his desires. He recently launched the television network America Nu, collaborated with Freeway on a new album and various other ventures. Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur and DJ Thoro discuss with Dame Dash how his relentless pursuit of new challenges and frontiers is simply representative of his humble beginnings.
Why Roc-A-Fella Isn’t Dead
Anything I do with any Roc-A-Fella, Roc-A-Fella’s not dead. It don’t die until I say so. And actually, Freeway has been doing a lot with education. He got the Freedom Thinkers Academy and he’s going through a lot of defining moments to say the least. And he showed a whole lot of strength. And despite anything that he’s going through, he still balls up. He seems like he’s become the general of State Property. He’s doing shows so he’s what a Roc-A-fella should be.
So Roc-A-Fella is not dead, just like rock and roll’s not dead. It’s just that I’ve been taking a nap. I’ve been out creating a television network, which is what I’ve been working on for the last 13 years and figuring out how we are getting robbed with CPMs and data and making sure I don’t and educating everybody else.
Dame Dash On “Bringing Back” Rock-N-Roll
We started rock-n-roll. They tried to take credit for that. So I felt like I see the kids wearing a lot of old school rock and roll shirts and a lot of times I ask them do they listen to the artists that they’re wearing? They don’t know. They’re wearing a Grateful Dead shirt, so I think they need some rock-n-roll that they could connect to.
A lot of people might not know that I put the Black Keys on. We did a project called BlakRoc and we put [them with] Mos Def and Pharoahe Monch and RZA and Raekwon and Jim Jones. It was just I wanted to do rock and roll because I’m a rock star. So I’ve always looked at the Dipset and State Property as rock stars.
I love Hip-Hop, but I listen to rock and roll more than I listen to Hip-Hop. And people don’t know that. And the reason why is because Hip-Hop triggers me. I was in the street, I saw all that. I’m trying to forget about it. I don’t want that energy around my children, my daughters. I don’t want to feel that anxiety of hustling and carrying a gun and not knowing if we’re going to… being prepared to do all that. It’s traumatizing. So I’ve always escaped through rock-n-roll, Pink Floyd and Janice Joplin and even all kind Mars Volta. You know who knew a lot about rock-n-roll? I was shocked. Erykah Badu.
The Difficulties of Being Black & In business.
We’re taught that we can only all hustle for one dollar, the black dollar, and that we should not be in competition with them. We should always only be in competition with each other. So you notice when there’s like a Black man owns a company, it’s a black company. When a white man owns a company, it’s a company.
And that’s why my staff is so eclectic because it’s not just a focus and that division is what keeps us always fighting each other because we always fighting over the same block and we’re never trying to take their market share. So I’m not asking to be celebrated. I’m taking it. I’m not going to ask. I don’t expect my oppressor to give me props for beating their ass, or proving them wrong, or going against their systematic way of controlling us. I don’t expect that. I don’t want it.
When they celebrate me too much, that means I’m working too hard for them. And anyone that gets celebrated too much by them is not doing too much for us. So what I notice is I get celebrated by us, not them. I don’t expect them to celebrate us, but I live on their block, and I go to their schools, or I spend money everywhere they spend money. So they’re not better, and I never think and want what they got. And any room I walk into, I always have a “superior I’m cooler than you complex” because I didn’t have to sell out and we’re still in the same room. We’re still in the same conversation.
Why He’s Always “Broke”
Because people be thinking I’m superhuman. I’m just like, I’m professional. A professional works at a different speed. It’s not a hobby for me. I got to eat off this s###. That’s why I’d be like, “Yo, I’m broke.” All I got is money for my bills and the company’s bills because if the company don’t make money, we don’t eat. I’m a savage like that. I’m a wild animal. I’m not tame. So that’s why I’m very active. This is life I chose and the freedom is priceless.
But you got to remember, maybe people don’t understand. I’m 52. Roc-A-Fella was over when I was 35 and literally I retired. Now first of all, think about kids 30 to 35, what they was doing at that time. Thirty-five I was already a legend at 35 and it took me six years to get Roc-A-Fella cracking, six. And it wasn’t enough money, the exit strategy at all at all, at all. It wasn’t enough that I could retire. And anyone that says it is is lying. And the television network has taken me double the time and I know it’s going to be a hundred times the bread when it turns over.
Recognizing Teenage Trauma
Since I was 16, I’ve been a boss. What does that look like? I can’t even fathom what it looked like. I was a manager and had a record deal as a teenager at 19. Roc-A-Fella came out in my 20s. I was the CEO of a…(major independent label). So I be looking at (my own kids)…like, “Man, when I was your age, what?”
But what came with that was a lot of pain, a lot of unrecognized trauma. I consider myself lucky, word. The fact that I was able to survive that era and then pivot right into the era of Biggie Smalls and Nas and Jay and Tupac, and I’m in the game and I’m in that conversation. And then now, all these decades get later to still be just as relevant and be doing new things. That now is old school, but I remember when it was current and we was laughing at everybody old and what they would look like at 50 and all that s###. And I always wondered, I’d be like, “I wonder if I get gray hair will I dye it.” I never knew but I can’t.
Diddy will not attend the 2024 Grammy Awards in February. A rep for the Bad Boy Records founder told The Hollywood Reporter he’s skipping the ceremony while facing multiple allegations of sexual assault.
The Hip-Hop mogul was nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album for 2023’s The Love Album: Off the Grid. The Grammys have not revoked his nomination.
Several women accused Diddy of sexual assault in late 2023. It started with his ex-girlfriend Cassie, who sued him for rape and years of abuse in November. The bombshell lawsuit revealed disturbing details about their relationship, including Diddy beating Cassie and forcing her to have sex with male prostitutes.
Diddy quickly settled out of court. Cassie said she agreed to the settlement to resolve the matter with “some level of control.”
Cassie’s lawsuit opened the floodgates as more women pursued litigation against Diddy. Joi Dickerson-Neal claimed Diddy sexually assaulted her when she was a student at Syracuse University in the ‘90s. Liza Gardner accused him and singer Aaron Hall of sexually assaulting her and a friend at Hall’s apartment in the ‘90s.
A Jane Doe added to Diddy’s legal woes by filing a lawsuit in December. She accused Diddy of gang rape and sex trafficking. The victim said she was 17 years old at the time of the assault.
Diddy denied the allegations.
“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,” he wrote in December. “For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy. Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”
Jane Doe’s lawsuit named former Bad Boy Records president Harve Pierre as a co-defendant. Last year, another woman sued Pierre for sexual assault in a separate case.
Flavor Flav is weighing in on the Golden Globes hosting disaster that has made headlines for the past week. Comedian Jo Koy was asked to take on the enormous task just 10 days before the event—and he bombed on nearly every joke. As the video made the rounds, he was criticized for taking shots at women, specifically Taylor Swift who was sitting in the audience. While he attempted to defend his sense of humor, people weren’t feeling it. Flavor Flav, who was also there, didn’t take kindly to the joke about Swift either.
On Thursday (January 11), the Public Enemy legend tweeted his disapproval and suggested Koy should apologize to the pop princess for the joke.
“I keeps gettin asked bout the Golden Globes host,” he wrote. “It ain’t an easy gig but he took the easy way to make jokes bout women and Taylor. They ain’t never did anything to the host so why the he gotta try to take them down?? The jokes wern’t funny and maybe he should apologize. Yeah.”
I keeps gettin asked bout the Golden Globes host,,,
it aint an easy gig but he took the easy way to make jokes bout women and Taylor. they aint never did anything to the host so why the he gotta try to take them down?? The jokes werent funny and maybe he should apologize. Yeah.
As for the joke in question, Koy made a crack about Swift’s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, saying, “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.” Swift reacted by taking a sip of her drink and looking annoyed. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Koy expressed how confused he was by the backlash.
“I didn’t understand the Taylor tiff,” he said. “Mind you, that one was just getting rewritten 50 million times, never ran it through, all the way up until we had to walk out. It’s just weird, where do you place it, and we kept hammering it and cutting it down. But the whole intention of that joke was to make fun of the NFL. It’s like, the cool thing about the Globes is we don’t need to do cutaways for ratings. What hurts the most is me just supporting Taylor, I support her, I love her work. I got nieces that I bought tickets for. There’s no ill intent in that joke. The joke is about the NFL and how they keep using cutaways to [her]. And it’s an obvious reason why. I’m not saying anything that no one’s saying, and it’s obvious what that joke was. It’s about the NFL.”
Koy added, “It’s like out of everything that has happened, this is the one you choose to go after. I didn’t understand why because it was fun when I walked out. Robert De Niro was dying, like, and I’m looking at him and his wife was smacking his back and smiling and laughing and he was laughing. And when I did the whole thing about him being 80, he loved it. And that was fun. I was like, man, this guy’s so much fun. And then I did that [Swift] joke and I’m like, what just happened?
Boosie Badazz unsurprisingly disliked Lil Nas X’s “J Christ” music video. The outspoken rapper condemned Lil Nas X’s latest release on Friday (January 12).
“THIS ‘Whatever’ IS SO DISRESPECTFUL ITS SAD SMH,” Boosie wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Lil Nas X’s “J Christ” video featured extensive use of religious iconography and biblical references. It also included impersonators portraying Barack Obama, Kanye West, Taylor Swift and more celebrities.
Social media detractors accused Lil Nas X of blasphemy. Some even labeled him a Satanist. He mocked the Satanist allegations, joking about his video depicting him breaking Satan’s ankles with a crossover.
“I’ve crossed satan up and broke his ankles, snapped his neck and literally killed him, made a song referencing the return of jesus, and somehow yall still think im a satanist,” Lil Nas X wrote on X. “I can not win lmaooo.”
Lil Nas X, an openly queer artist, generated controversy with his so-called “Christian era” over the past few months. The rollout began in November 2023 as Lil Nas X used more and more religious imagery to tease the release of his “J Christ” single.
The Columbia Records artist stirred the pot when he unveiled the “J Christ” cover art on Monday (January 8). The artwork showed him on a cross, evoking the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Lil Nas X defended his cover art amid backlash, calling out Christian gatekeepers on social media.
“The crazy thing is nowhere in the picture is a mockery of jesus,” he wrote on X. “Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world. I’m not making fun of s###. yall just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born. s###.”

Apple Music and Usher released a trailer for the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show on Friday (January 12). The video, which featured NBA superstar LeBron James and BTS member Jungkook, billed Usher’s performance as 30 years in the making.
Usher was announced as this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performer in September 2023. The upcoming performance will be the NFL’s fifth show produced in partnership with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list,” Usher said. “I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”
Jay-Z added, “Usher is the ultimate artist and showman. Ever since his debut at the age of 15, he’s been charting his own unique course. Beyond his flawless singing and exceptional choreography, Usher bares his soul. His remarkable journey has propelled him to one of the grandest stages in the world. I can’t wait to see the magic.”
Usher recalled getting the Super Bowl Halftime Show offer from Jay-Z in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. The hitmaking singer said the booking felt like it was destined to happen.
“Me and the big homie [JAY-Z], we talk often,” Usher told Lowe. “But when I got this call … He said, ‘It’s time, it’s magic time. You know, it’s time for you to have that moment.’ I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ He’s like, ‘The Super Bowl.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, you ready? Absolutely.’”
Usher will perform at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas on February 11. The veteran artist planned to capitalize on the publicity by dropping his new album Coming Home that same weekend.
YNW Melly faced more delays in his murder retrial. The 24-year-old rapper learned jury selection would not restart until March at a court hearing in Florida on Friday (January 12).
According to ABC and NBC affiliates in Miami, Judge John Murphy did not schedule a new start date for the retrial. The judge was previously forced to reschedule the trial as prosecutors and defense attorneys battled over multiple motions in the double murder case.
At one point, YNW Melly’s trial was supposed to begin on January 8. Judge Murphy delayed it to February 5 as the court sorted out multiple motions in the case. Now, opening statements will start in March at the earliest.
YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, remains in jail without bond following a mistrial in 2023. His first murder trial ended with a hung jury.
Prosecutors accuse YNW Melly of killing his friends YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser in 2018. Alleged accomplice YNW Bortlen also awaits trial for his role in the murders.
YNW Melly’s lawyers convinced Judge Murphy to remove former lead prosecutor Kristine Bradley from the double murder case ahead of the retrial. Alixandra Buckelew replaced Bradley in October 2023.
Jury selection for the retrial began the same month, but it was disrupted by a defense error. Judge Murphy granted the defense’s motion to strike the entire panel of prospective jurors, forcing the process to start from scratch. Prosecutors voiced their frustrations.
“All of this time being spent on jurors that have now been struck could have gone to time both sides clearly need to further prepare for the trial,” the prosecution argued in a motion. “The state does not want this to become a pattern where with each objection made, another group of jurors is struck.”
YNW Melly pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges. If convicted, he could be sentenced to death.
The collaboration between Jay-Z, D’Angelo, and filmmaker-musician Jeymes Samuel for the new movie The Book of Clarence is here. “I Want You Forever” was described by the director as “nine minutes and 32 seconds of absolute soulful, biblical bliss” in an interview. This collaboration is a fusion of music and cinema, also highlights the creative relationship between Jay-Z and Samuel. They also worked on 2021’s The Harder They Fall together as well.
Technically each song on the soundtrack of the film credits Samuel, also known as The Bullitts musically and features the other artists. Lil Wayne, Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks, Doja Cat and Kodak Black and others are featured on the diverse soundtrack.
The Book of Clarence is a biblical comedy-drama that features Lakeith Stanfield in the lead role. The film co-stars David Oyelowo, Micheal Ward, Alfre Woodard, Teyana Taylor, Omar Sy, RJ Cyler, Anna Diop, Caleb McLaughlin, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, James McAvoy, and others.
Ralo has provided an update on his promise to restore the gifts he once bestowed upon those in his inner circle before he was incarcerated. On Thursday (January 11), Ralo spoke about his recent move to outfit all of his close connections with “Black Trucks” in a short post on Twitter (X). Along with the message in the tweet, Ralo shared a photo of the two newly purchased luxury SUVs, still with the bows on them, reminding fans of the promise he made last month.
“I told yawl I was going to buy everybody around me Maybachs and Black Trucks and I’m standing on that… #KingAkh,” he wrote in the tweet.
In a follow-up message on Facebook, Ralo revealed the sum of his purchases thus far while seemingly insinuating he had plans to exert even more of his buying power in the coming months.
“I spent 2 million dollars and I only been out 2 months,” he wrote in part. “Keep watching, ima show you how to get out and do what’s right. I told yawl I was going to buy everybody around me Maybachs & Black Trucks and I’m standing on it… #KingAkh”
I told yawl I was going to buy everybody around me Maybachs and Black Trucks and I’m standing on that… #KingAkhpic.twitter.com/X0db6SfibF
Ralo had previously explained that the motivation for him to purchase vehicles for his loved ones stems from the authorities seizing many of the cars he bought for them in the past.
“The feds took my momma car, my girl car, all the gifted cars I gave the bro’s in the hood and every car I even had for myself,” Ralo wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. “Ima show the world how great I am, this the comeback for everybody that tried to turn me down. I swear by Allah Ima buy everybody around me Ah Maybach or ah Cadillac truck.”
After serving six years behind bars in connection to his 2018 conviction on federal drug charges, the Atlanta-bred rapper was released from prison last November.
Will Kevin Hart ever host the Oscars in the future? According to the Lift star, he has no desire to take on that role. Hart spoke to Sky News about shunning hosting duties for award ceremonies.
“Those gigs aren’t good gigs for comics. It’s no shot to the Oscars, no shot to the [Golden Globes] or anything else. Those just aren’t comedy-friendly environments anymore,” Kevin Hart told the British media outlet.
At the same time, the 44-year-old entertainer championed celebrities-led award shows. He said, “It’s a collaborative thing, different people get to be responsible for act one, act two, act three, but you know, the days of it being a room for a comic, those days are done.”
Kevin Hart Gives Kudos To Other Stand-Up Comics’ Hosting Abilities
Before his homophobic tweets controversy, Kevin Hart hosted the 2011 BET Awards, the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards and the 2016 MTV Movie Awards. The Philadelphia native praised fellow comics like Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Ricky Gervais for their past hosting performances.
Critics panned Jo Koy’s recent job as host of the 81st Golden Globe Awards. A particular joke about pop singer Taylor Swift did not go over well with the live audience. In reaction to the bad reviews, Koy later admitted, “I’d be lying if [I said] it doesn’t hurt.”
Kevin Hart has also been in the news lately because Katt Williams lambasted the Real Husbands of Hollywood creator on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay. Williams accused Hart of being an industry plant. Hart fired back by suggesting Williams is bitter about his rival’s success.
Angela Rye, Tiffany D. Cross and Andrew Gillum teamed up to host iHeartPodcasts’ new Native Land Pod. The first episode of the show has already caused controversy.
“I wanted that clip to role especially because Andrew was making this distinction between what Nikki Haley said [and] what Donald Trump said. It sounds like Joe Biden went right to the heart of what Nikki Haley said,” Angela Rye stated.
Angela Rye Defends Her Stance On Joe Biden & The Democratic Party
One X user complained, “[Angela Rye] only includes half of what #PresidentBiden said onthe Native Land podcast, but I have the rest! According to Angela, the #President appears to be saying the same thing as #NikkiHaley, who we all know couldn’t say #slavery. President #Biden condemned not only slavery, but also #JimCrow. Please do better! I want this #podcast to win, but my side eye has been #activated!!”
Joe Biden did call Nikki Haley’s non-slavery answer a lie. In response to the backlash for seemingly omitting that part of the speech from the Native Land Pod segment, Rye tweeted, “This is an unfortunate and blatant mischaracterization of what *I* said. Run it back. And try again.”
Someone then directly asked Rye to clarify the misunderstanding. She responded, “I said he took it TO Nikki Haley where she was once governor. It is clear THIS clip was cut off. This speech from Biden was the strongest I’ve ever heard him on the condemnation of white supremacy and the confederacy. That is progress.”
Angela Rye went on to say she believes Joe Biden can do more to address white supremacy. The former CNN commentator also argued the right to demand more from the Democratic Party. She stated, “We are not the only ones sounding this clear alarm. There are more.”
Respectfully, what part was the mischaracterization or the misunderstanding?
Tiffany D. Cross Found Herself In The Social Media Crosshairs Too
Angela Rye’s Native Land Pod co-host Tiffany D. Cross also caught heat online this week. Some social media users blasted the former anchor for MSNBC’s The Cross Connection for comments she made on The Breakfast Club.
“I vote Democrat most of the time. But I am not a talking head for the party at all. I think they make horrific decisions. I think they summarily dismiss our communities the same way a lot of the cable news industry does,” Tiffany D. Cross told Charlamagne Tha God. She also declared, “I think they fail us at every point.”
That take by Cross sparked negative reactions as people began pointing out Democrat-backed policies that helped their lives such as the Affordable Care Act. The Say It Louder! author pushed back on the complaints directed her way.
“I was referencing the cable news industry. Not the party. I’ve spoken numerous [times] on policies that have been beneficial to both the community & me personally. I do, however, stand by that we are not loyal to a party but vote instead in favor of harm reduction. Thank you,” Tiffany D. Cross tweeted.

Michael Jackson’s life story will play out in a biographical film. The forthcoming Micheal is scheduled to premiere in American theaters on April 18, 2025.
Lionsgate Films hired Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) to direct the motion picture. The King of Pop’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, will play the entertainment icon in the movie.
“I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon,” Jaafar Jackson wrote on Instagram.
Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop. The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale — from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances. As never before, audiences will experience an inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.
Michael will not present the first on-screen depiction of the 13-time Grammy winner. A five-hour miniseries titled The Jacksons: An American Dream debuted on ABC in 1992.
Furthermore, Showtime aired the highly-publicized Thriller 40 in 2023. That documentary highlighted the 40th anniversary celebration of Michael Jackson’s classic 1982 album Thriller.
Michael Jackson rose to international prominence as the lead singer of the pop/R&B boy band The Jackson 5. Throughout his solo career, Jackson released multiple studio LPs including 1979’s Off the Wall, 1987’s Bad and 1991’s Dangerous.
In addition to his 13 Grammy wins, Michael Jackson also received the Grammy Legend Award in 1993 and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. The MTV Video Music Awards also named its Vanguard Award after the “Beat It” hitmaker.
Lil Nas X returned today (January 12) with the new single “J Christ.” His pre-release promotion of the song did not sit well with some people like Kai Cenat.
“Y’all mind if I enter my Christian era?” Lil Nas X tweeted on November 29, 2023. Over the following months, the openly gay rapper posted videos of himself dressed as Jesus Christ.
Kai Cenat appeared to have a problem with the use of religious imagery to promote music. The award-winning streamer blasted Lil Nas in a now-viral clip.
“No, f### that! Lil Nas X, you can eat my whole dick! I hate that n####, bro,” Kai Cenat screamed into the camera. He then stated, “God gonna handle you in the right way.”

Cenat continued his tirade against the Georgia-born recording artist. The New York City native also stated, “He disrespected God himself. He disrespected the whole culture.”
Professional boxer Ryan Garcia also recently railed against Lil Nas. In a now-deleted tweet, Garcia posted, “As someone who loves God and is Christian, I find this one of the most disrespectful and disturbing [things] someone can do.”
Lil Nas X addressed his critics on social media. A January 8 tweet read, “Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world. I’m not making fun of s###. Y’all just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born. [Shut the f### up].”

Jay-Z fans were gifted another Hov verse on his new song “I Want you Forever” featured on The Book of Clarence movie soundtrack.
The film’s director Jeymes Samuel released the project Friday (January 11). As well as the new Jay-Z cut, which also features soul icon D’Angelo, the soundtrack includes appearances from the likes of Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, Kid Cudi, Kodak Black and many others. Listen to “I Want You Forever” below and stream the project at the end of the page.
Hov’s song clocks it at over 9 minutes and would have been even longer if the Roc Nation founder had his way. During a recent discussion about the movie and accompanying soundtrack Jay-Z admitted he wanted to keep rapping after recording his verse.
And it wasn’t just on “I Want You Forever” either. Hov’s original verse on DJ Khaled’s “God Did” was shorter than the epic four-minute soliloquy he eventually released.
“You just got to obey your crazy,” Jay-Z said during a Spaces chat on X Thursday (January 11). “I didn’t start out to do “God Did” as a four minute verse, that’s not how that happened. It just kept going and kept unfolding and the story wasn’t told.”
He went on to explain that he had a “beautiful time” recording “I Want You Forever” in Paris but initially felt unsatisfied with the end result.
“I didn’t want to stop where I stopped,” he said. “Let me put a placeholder in this and finish this.”
However, his mind was made up after vibing to the song. “You know what? It’s complete,” he added.
Sexyy Red chose her maternity shoot to reveal her baby daddy to the world. Fans have speculated about the father’s identity since the “SkeeYee” hitmaker announced her pregnancy last year.
On Thursday night (January 11), Sexyy Redd shared her recent maternity photos, including some shots with her baby daddy. However, she made sure to conceal his face so the unnamed man couldn’t be identified.
Sexyy Red seemingly instantly regretted her post. Shortly after unveiling her unborn baby’s father, she took the photos down and shared a message in her Instagram Stories. “Yal messy,” she wrote alongside a thumbs-down emoji.
Sexyy Red Struggled To Hide Pregnancy On Tour
Earlier on Thursday, Sexyy Red opened up about hiding her growing bump while on tour with Drake.
“When nobody knew I was pregnant, I’d be in the back room like tryna suck my stomach in or wear clothes to show that I wasn’t pregnant,” she explained to Billboard. “And I had to practice my breathing — like before I’d go on stage, I had to hold my stomach in and look at myself and be like, ‘Can they tell?’ Once I just was like, okay I can’t keep hiding it ’cause it hurt to just be on stage all day holding your stomach in, so I’m like, just forget about it.”
She continued, “I was pregnant on the Drake tour and the Moneybagg [Yo] tour but nobody knew. People started suspecting it on the Drake tour because there was videos and pictures of me coming out. That’s the only reason I was hiding it because I just wanted me and my family and friends to know.”
Last year, the St. Louis native caused confusion over her relationship status after previewing her song “Bow Wow Wow (F My Baby Dad).” She tried to set the record straight, but her update did little to clear up the uncertainty.
“If my baby daddy’s in jail and I always say ‘free my baby daddy,’ but now I’m saying ‘fk my baby daddy,’ do y’all really think I’m pregnant by a n#### in jail?” she asked. “Like, how do y’all think that works? We grown; I want y’all to use y’all antennas. Stop playing stupid. It’s getting annoying.”
