Nas Finally Reveals His Magical Master Plan!

The rapper Nas has formally announced the finale. And we now know what that finale is. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to realize the symmetrical nature of his and Hit-Boy’s projects. Well, those projects are now coming to a conclusion.

They have made remarkable strides together, and now Magic Part Three comes out on Nas‘s birthday. What an amazing accomplishment, these two have done together, effectively bridging the gap and resuscitating each other’s careers. Hit-Boy was a phenomenal talent before he linked up with Nas, but he was somewhat on the fringes and not known as a rapper either. Now, he is a legend in several ways. Nas, on the other hand, has completely resuscitated his career and really found his creative stride! He’s absolutely about to overtake this Goat conversation completely.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CxGMZx9roo6/

I mean, honestly, I wish the other goats would step up to the table a little bit and challenge his supremacy, but it seems like they are content with letting him run amok. Competition in Hip-Hop has always priced more greatness. At any rate, I can’t wait to hear what this is gonna sound like, and absolutely adore the fact that it’s all taking place during Hip-Hop‘s 50th anniversary!

I can’t say more in regard to the praises that he deserves for stepping up and stepping out in this capacity. If we’re going to celebrate Hip-Hop as an art form, and as a culture, we have to understand that there are no limits, and that includes age. Nas is definitely showing everybody how to do this with class, grace and creativity!

Enjoy the other two!

If you are still reading, then you know I previously reported that Nas was making NEW music that did NOT include Hit-Boy. Some of you might be thinking “AHA, illseed was wrong!” Was I though? Stay tuned on that, because my sources are saying that this is all a part of Nas’s REAL master plan. Magic 2 just came out July 21! He has something else in the chamber and he’s likely got a full clip alllllll ready!

Stay tuned!

Philly Legend DJ Grand Dragon KD Reportedly Stabbed To Death At Family Party

The Hip-Hop community is mourning the death of DJ Grand Dragon KD, the first DJ for Philly rapper Steady B. His violent death comes as a shock to those who loved and cared about the Philadelphia legend, who was the first DJ to put “The Transformer” scratch on wax.

Original Promo Picture of Steady B (as M.C. Boob) and Grand Dragon K.D.

Sources say KD, whose real name is Gary Hutt, was deejaying at a family birthday party on the 500 block of North Vodges Street in West Philadelphia on Saturday (September 9).

According to FOX 29, who reported on the incident but didn’t identify the entertainer as the victim, around 10:30 p.m. ET, an argument erupted and the 56-year-old turntablist was viciously stabbed. Police and paramedics arrived at the scene of the crime to find him bleeding. They rushed him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center with the hope of saving his life but were unsuccessful.

Rev. Emanuel Parks, whose rap name was Mentally Gifted, took to Instagram to pay tribute to the Hilltop Hustler. He posted a picture of his former producing partner on Instagram writing, “This one hit different! Rest up To my manz and old DJ KD I’m at a loss for words.”

Mentally Gifted Sends Condolences to DJ Grand Dragon KD

Steady B made a post from the SCI Phoenix prison in Pennsylvania, where he’s currently serving time for a 1996 bank robbery. He later shared a message for the family: “First I want to send my condolences to the family and I’m praying for y’all about what happened. It’s crazy because my wife told me about his passing yesterday.

“I really didn’t know how I felt right then and there when she told me. I really had to think about it, like damn, that was my n##ga. The first thing that I thought about when she told me that he passed away was, the ‘Bring the Beat Back’ record. If y’all don’t know, but me and KD made that record… together in 1986.”

He said the two were sitting in his mom’s living room on Redfield Street and working on his Roland 909 drum machine. KD had 1200s.

Steady B added, “It’s crazy that I go from that in 1986 to none, especially the manner in which he died.” Check out the classic track “Bring The Beat Back” below.

EXCLUSIVE: Damon Dash’s Roc-A-Fella Shares Could Hit The Auction Block If His Nemesis Lawyer Convinces Judge

Damon Dash’s ownership share in Roc-A-Fella Records could be at risk of being auctioned off if his nemesis lawyer has his way.  The origins of the latest drama involving Damon Dash and his ownership of Roc-A-Fella Records – which he launched in 1995 with Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke stems from a strained relationship between Dash and filmmaker Josh Webber.

In 2016, Muddy Water Pictures enlisted Dash to co-direct the movie “Dear Frank.” However, two years later, Dash was ousted from the project for allegedly being high on the set.

Not taking the dismissal lightly, Dash reportedly began promoting himself as a producer for the movie, even changing the film’s title to “The List.”

This led to a lawsuit filed in 2019, culminating in a jury ruling against Dash, directing him to pay $805,000 in damages to Webber and Muddy Water Pictures.

To settle the “Dear Frank” judgment, Webber’s lawyer, Christopher Brown, is pushing to sell Dash’s one-third interest in Roc-A-Fella at a live, in-person public auction. Brown has been a thorn in Damon’s side for years and has secured judgments against Dash in lawsuits related to stolen movies, photographs, defamation, and even sexual assault.

Lawyer Wants To Auction Off Roc-A-Fella Shares

However, high-powered lawyer Alex Spiro, who represents Jay-Z and his interests, recently entered the legal battle, objecting to Christopher Brown’s attempt to auction off Damon’s shares in Roc-A-Fella. Spiro referenced the company’s by-laws forbidding any such transfer or sale.

Spiro explained that the by-laws necessitate board approval before transferring any equity interest, a consent that neither party has sought or obtained.

“Neither [ Brown or Webber] nor Dash have obtained (or even sought) permission to auction Dash’s 1/3rd interest in [Roc-A-Fella Records]. As a result, any purported transfer of Dash’s 1/3rd interest in [Roc-A-Fella Records] at the public auction [Brown and Webber] seek would be ‘void and ineffectual’ and would ‘not operate’ to transfer Dash’s interest. And the [Roc-A-Fella ] board is entitled to decide whether to approve any transfer of Dash’s interest,” Alex Shapiro explained.

Currently, the judge has sided with Roc-A-Fella, albeit due to a technicality because Brown and Webber failed to establish that the sheriff or U.S. Marshal has obtained any such interest, a prerequisite for ordering the sale of a judgment debtor’s interest in personal property.

Moreover, the board of Roc-A-Fella has asserted its right to intervene, although it has yet to formally move to do so, indicating potential complications in future proceedings. Despite the setbacks, Christopher Brown remains undeterred.

Lawyer Wants To Auction Off Roc-A-Fella Shares

In his latest reply to the judge, he urged the court to reconsider, pointing out that Roc-A-Fella failed to issue Dash stock certificates, a critical factor validating Dash’s interest in the label.

The judge has yet to issue a final ruling. The new battle for Damon Dash’s shares in Roc-A-Fella is the latest legal headache for the owners of the storied label.

In 2021, Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella Records sued co-founder Dame Dash for allegedly attempting to sell his shares of the label as a “Reasonable Doubt” NFT without authorization.

The dispute reached a resolution in June 2022, with both parties agreeing that no individual shareholder of the record label could mint an NFT of the album or engage in any unauthorized disposition of any property interest in the album, including its copyright.

However, the settlement did not restrict any shareholder from selling or disposing of their one-third ownership interest in the corporation.

Did Juicy J Find God?

Juicy J 777?

What is this about? As you already know, Juicy J, DJ Paul, and Three 6 Mafia are well-known for providing provocative conversations around spirituality, God and Hip-Hop.

But I saw a recent interview with Juicy J on Good Morning America. In that interview, he repeatedly referenced God, which struck me as odd. At first I thought it was a performance for the middle-of-the road-slash-middle America but I’m beginning to think it is not, why?

Well, let me take you back a little bit. Project Pat, who is his brother is pretty much a certified preacher. All you have to do is look at his Instagram and you can see that he is seeped in the word of God. And that is no joke! Also, you have to remember that, despite their name, the Three 6 Mafia was raised in the church! Even Gangsta Boo momentarily denounced their radical raps and assumed a new name, Lady Boo. She was a Christian rapper for a short period!

So now back to Juicy J. He is still wild and crazy, as I can see it, but he’s using the moniker on TikTok JuicyJ777. Seven is the number of God! In numerology, you see it a lot as well in religious sects, like the Nation the Gods in the Earths. I guess will soon see what route he is taking, but I’m almost certain it is a slightly more positive path, and not so much the psychotic, maniacal satanic-adjacent Hip-Hop group that we’ve seen in the past. 😵‍💫

I love this video of him and Megan Thee Stallion party!

Doja Cat Scores First No. 1 Rap Song For 2023 With “Paint The Town Red”

The streak is over. Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red” became the first rap release to earn the honor of being the most popular song in America this year.

“Paint The Town Red” rose two spots to No. 1 on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart. Doja Cat ended the longest break for a rap song to top the weekly rankings in over two decades.

Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” was the last rap song to lead the Hot 100 in August 2022. That 54-week gap between chart-toppers for the genre was the lengthiest since a 79-week interval in 2001.

“Paint The Town Red” also gave Doja Cat her second Hot 100 leader. She previously reached the pinnacle of the chart with 2020’s “Say So” featuring Nicki Minaj. That single had a one-week reign.

In addition, Doja Cat added her name to a very exclusive list of female rappers to have multiple Number Ones on the Billboard Hot 100. Only Megan Thee Stallion (2), Nicki Minaj (3), and Cardi B (5) have also reached that feat.

Doja also joined Megan, Cardi, and Latto as the only female rappers to have a No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart. Latto had the most popular song in the world for seven weeks in 2023 as a feature on “Seven” by Jung Kook.

The Pop record “Seven” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as well. That made Latto the first rapper, male or female, to have a No. 1 single in 2023. Doja Cat is just the second rapper to top the Hot 100 this year.

Tonight (August 12), MTV will present the 2023 Video Music Awards. Doja Cat is scheduled to be part of the ceremony’s lineup of performances. She also earned six nominations, including nods for Artist of the Year, Video of the Year (“Attention”) and Song of Summer (“Paint the Town Red”).

Rubi Rose Reacts To Rumors She Got Breast Implants

Rapper/model Rubi Rose has become a sex symbol for many modern-day internet users. The For the Streets mixtape creator has no issue with selling sex as part of her brand.

Rubi Rose’s name began trending on social media this week after she posted new photos of herself. Some commenters questioned if the 2021 XXL Freshman got breast enhancement surgery.

“Flattered everyone thinks I got them done,” posted Rubi Rose on her Instagram Story. She also added, “We’re dropping my push-up bra next month for my hoochies. 😍.”

The 25-year-old Kentucky native took to the X platform as well. On Monday night, Rubi Rose tweeted, “My push-up bra comes out next month…. ladies you’re welcome in advance 💕.”

Erica Mena Apologizes For Calling Spice A Monkey After Getting Fired From ‘Love & Hip Hop’

What began as a routine reality television show fight turned into a full-blown scandal. Now-former Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta cast member Erica Mena is asking for forgiveness for her racially insensitive actions.

A recent Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta episode featured a verbal dispute between Erica Mena and Jamaican musician Spice. At one point, Mena referred to her adversary as a “f###### blue monkey.”

That insult sparked widespread backlash as many social media users slammed Mena for using a racist slur against African Americans. Love & Hip Hop later announced the firing of the TV personality.

“The Love & Hip Hop franchise has never shied away from hard conversations in our community,” read a statement posted to the MTV program’s social media accounts.

It continued, “Working hand-in-hand with our partners, viewers will see the impact of Erica Mena’s remarks play out in the final three episodes of the season. Effective immediately, she will not appear in the next season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.”

Erica Mena Says She Takes Full Responsibility For Her Comments

Following her removal from the Love & Hip Hop franchise, Erica Mena released her own statement to TMZ. The 35-year-old woman of Puerto Rican and Dominican ancestry insisted she understood the “gravity” of her remarks.

“I deeply regret my insensitive comment and want to humbly apologize to anybody I hurt or offended by my thoughtlessness. My choice of words was wrong, and I take full responsibility for what I said,” Mena stated.

The ex-wife of Love & Hip Hop: Miami star Safaree Samuels also added, “As a woman of color and the mother of two black children, I want to make it clear that my use of that word was not in any way racially driven.”

Erica Mena spent several years as part of the Love & Hip Hop: New York cast before becoming a regular on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. The model/actress has also appeared in several Tubi movies such as The Stepmother and Picture Me Dead.

Cardi B Now Wants To Headline A Super Bowl Halftime Show

Will Cardi B take over the Super Bowl’s mid-game concert in the near future? If the decision were up to the Invasion of Privacy album creator, the answer would be yes.

Cardi B stopped by Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Monday (September 11). A viewer of the pop culture-based talk show asked the rapper about possibly headlining a Super Bowl Halftime Show.

“Yes, now I would say yes. Things change,” answered Cardi. She reportedly passed on a chance to perform with Maroon 5 at the Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show in 2019.

Maroon 5 tapped Cardi B as a guest feature on the band’s chart-topping smash “Girls Like You” single in 2018. The collaboration eventually earned Diamond status (10 million units) from the RIAA.

There was speculation that Cardi might join Maroon 5 for their Super Bowl LIII performance. However, the Grammy winner turned down the opportunity in order to stand with alleged blackballed NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

“I got to sacrifice a lot of money to perform. But there’s a man who sacrificed his job for us, so we got to stand behind him,” said Cardi B in 2019.

If the “Bongos” rhymer does make it to the Super Bowl Halftime Show stage, Cardi will join an impressive list of Hip Hop acts to perform at the Big Game. Queen Latifah, P. Diddy, Nelly, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, Travis Scott and Big Boi have provided entertainment for the NFL audience.

Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak put on an Emmy-winning Halftime Show in 2022. Global superstar Rihanna headlined the Super Bowl LVII halftime show in February of this year.

Pooh Shiesty scored a Top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Back in Blood” featuring Lil Durk. The RIAA certified that 2020 single as 5x-Platinum. “Back in Blood” lives on 2021’s Shiesty Season album.

Central Cee Sparks Curiosity With Cryptic Caption On Ice Spice And Doja Cat Pics

Central Cee is making the rounds Stateside after officially securing the U.K. song of the summer with his record-breaking smash hit “Sprinter,” a collab with fellow British rapper Dave.

The West Londoner has been spotted multiple times hanging out with Drake and attending his It’s All A Blur Tour shows and opening the concert in Phoenix recently. The transatlantic duo has also been in the studio together, recently dropping a collab On The Radar freestyle.

This weekend, Central Cee hit up New York Fashion Week along with a host of other Hip-hop stars, including Ice Spice and Doja Cat.

Central Cee famously rapped about the “Planet Her” creator on his viral hit “Doja.” What’s less known is that he has unreleased music with Ice Spice. The pair recorded a joint offering, a remix of her breakout hit, “Munch,” although it never saw the light of day.

However, they have recorded other music in recent months, and are working on releasing a collab.

Central Cee and Ice Spice were spotted deep in conversation at NYFW, perhaps discussing their joint offering. However, some fans were quick to start rumors about a potential romantic link up after DJ Zack Bia announced Cench is single during a recent concert.

Central Cee Posts Ice Spice And Doja Cat

On Monday (September 11), Central shared a carousel of images from his adventures, including photos of Ice Spice and Doja Cat. He added a cryptic caption which when translated reads, “I seek refuge in Allah from the devil of the evil.”

Many in the comments section speculated about Cench hooking up with one of the ladies now that he’s newly single.

He was dating influencer Madeline Argy, but the two seemingly called it quits. Their alleged breakup comes shortly after the model TikTok star received backlash for comments about wanting to “live in a sundown town.” She later apologized, pleading racial ignorance for using the term, which refers to segregated towns in the U.S., mistaking it for meaning “cute American towns.”

Despite the separation, Argy, who was in New York at the same time as the rapper, is still keeping tabs on Central Cee. She shared an image of herself on Instagram Sunday watching Cench’s IG story.

On Monday (September 11), the “Strike” hitmaker shared an update with his followers on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that he’s ditched the lean. However, not everybody is a fan of his healthy new look. In fact, since ditching the highly addictive substance, he’s been bullied over his appearance.

Big Daddy Kane Explains Why J. Cole Is His “Favorite Emcee Of This Era” With The Help Of “Bill Cosby” Bar

Big Daddy Kane has made no secret about his admiration for J. Cole, noting in the past that he’s his “hero” from the current crop of rappers.

However, in a new interview, the Hip-Hop pioneer explained why he’s such a fan of the Dreamville Records founder, quoting one of Cole’s lyrics and leaving his hosts dumbfounded.

During a recent appearance on Drink Champs, Big Daddy Kane discussed the current state of rap and the debate that lyricism is lacking in modern-day Hip-Hop.

However, Kane disagreed with the suggestion, noting there are a plethora of lyricists among the latest crop of rappers.

“There are a lot of lyrical emcees; you just have to find them,’ he explained. “But at this point in time what’s more important really is a catchy tune.”

He went on to say that today’s lyricists shun “commercial production” over boom bap.

“That’s not what’s really selling or what’s playing on the radio,” he added. “But you do have lyrical emcees that rhyme over that modern style production. Like J Cole.”

Biddy Daddy Kane then hailed Cole as “my favorite emcee of this era.”

Big Daddy Kane Quotes J. Cole

He also gave a nod to Griselda rapper Conway the Machine and Benny The Butcher but insisted Cole is just different.

And Kane is not just a fan of Cole’s album cuts and hit singles’ the OG is also paying attention to his freestyles. When Kendrick Lamar entered the conversation, Big Daddy Kane quoted a bar Cole spat during a 2021 appearance on Power 107’s L.A. Leakers Radio.

“I love Kendrick, but you got to understand, Cole said: ‘No Cosby s### but if they sleepin on me, f### ‘em’.”

Check out the clip below and watch the episode at the end of the page.

In an interview with AllHipHop.com earlier this summer, Big Daddy Kane shared he’s a fan of Cole and others for being “true to lyricism.”

Cardi B Warns Chrisean Rock Not To Ignore Postpartum Depression Signs

Cardi B has shared some advice with new mom Chrisean Rock after the reality TV starlet welcomed her first child earlier this month.

The Hip-Hop superstar has two kids with Offset, who is also a father to 3 other children from a previous relationship, so she has plenty of valuable experience to offer.

While out in New York, she stopped to talk to TMZ, who asked her if she had any advice for her fellow celeb mom. According to Cardi B, Chrisean Rock should be aware of the signs of postpartum depression and take steps to avoid it.

Cardi warned Rock that postpartum depression can be difficult to detect and that life as a new mom can be overwhelming, so take time out for yourself.

“What I would advise is that whenever you start to feel emotional, that means, you might not think it’s postpartum, but it’s postpartum,” Cardi shared. “So when that happens, go outside, take a breather, go drink some coffee, go eat some lunch on your own. When you’re a new mom, the new schedule overwhelms you. So, just do something that calms you down, and that’s peaceful.”

Check out the video below.

CDC research shows that about 1 in 8 women experience symptoms of postpartum depression. They advise mothers to talk to their healthcare provider if experiencing emotional changes or think they may be depressed.

Chrisean Rock gave birth to her son with Blueface, Chrisean Jesus Malone Jr., on September 3, following a tumultuous pregnancy. The former couple have since disagreed on parenting their son, including his name. However, they do seem on one accord regarding his faith.

The “Thotiana” rapper praised his ex for dedicating their son to Christ during a ceremony at her hometown church over the weekend.

Lil Wayne Heads Back To White House Nearly 15 Years After “Swag Surf” Bars—Well, Kinda

Lil Wayne was among the many rap artists invited to Vice President Kamala Harris’ home for a Hip-Hop 50 celebration on Saturday (September 9). While it’s not exactly the White House, it’s the next best thing—at least for the 400 people invited. Lil Wayne pulled up alongside fellow rappers Jeezy, MC Lyte, Common, Fat Joe, Roxanne Shanté, Too $hort, Remy Ma, Slick rick and Doug E. Fresh.

Weezy’s visit comes nearly 15 years after he released “Swag Surf” off No Ceilings (2009) in which he raps, “Quarterback shot gun, you don’t get any sack yards/B###h, I ball hard, breakin’ all the backboards/Pretty boy Floyd step up I will crack yours/And even at the White House we pull up at the back doors.”

MSNBC’s resident Hip-Hop connoisseur, Ari Melber, was quick to make the connection on the latest episode of “The Beat.” On Monday night (September 11), Melber pointed out how Lil Wayne’s visit was a case of life imitating art. He shared a clip of the episode to his Instagram account, adding in the caption, “How does Lil Wayne pull up in Washington?” The post included a clip of Wayne posing with Harris for a photo-op and Melber explaining that Weezy did, in fact, enter the Harris compound through a “special entrance.”

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxEee1nrgmc/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng%3D%3D

In January 2021, Lil Wayne was famously pardoned by Donald Trump as one of his final acts as president. Wayne, who had pleaded guilty to a federal weapons charge in December 2020, was initially facing up to 10 years in prison. A year prior, federal authorities received an anonymous tip the Cash Money OG was transporting drugs on his private jet.

Once the aircraft landed at Miami-Opa Locak Executive Airport, they performed a search of the plane and discovered a gold-plated Remington 1911, .45-caliber handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition and a bag containing small amounts of cocaine, ecstasy and oxycodone. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida charged Wayne, who was convicted of a felony gun charge in 2009, with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

For awhile, Lil Wayne was all about Trump. In 2020, he seemingly endorsed Trump by meeting with him at the White House and posing for a photo. As Wayne tweeted at the time, “Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus. besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”

But with Trump out and now vying for a comeback—despite all of his legal troubles—how will Lil Wayne move around the 2024 election? Only time will tell. As Melber told AllHipHop.com, “Lil Wayne’s appearance shows either some general bipartisanship—he can go left and right—or the possibility that once he got his pardon from Trump, Weezy now has less use for him.”

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, stayed for the entire Hip-Hop 50 event, which was curated by the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective and Live Nation Urban. Harris delivered a few words speaking to the importance of Hip-Hop culture.

“Hip-Hop now shapes nearly every aspect of American popular culture, and it reflects the incredible diversity and ingenuity of the American people,” Harris said. “I truly believe Hip-Hop is one of America’s greatest exports.”

RBX Taps Into Death Row Records Controversy With “Lets Ride” Banger

Veteran West Coast rapper RBX, who will be inextricably linked to Dr. Dre’s The Chronic for all eternity, has returned with a video for “Lets Ride,” the second single from his forthcoming album, Hibernation Shivers. With vocal contributions from Sccit and Klientel as well as production by Sccit and Siavash The Grouch, the track harkens back to Hip-Hop’s golden era when G-funk ruled the airwaves.

“Snoopy [Snoop Dogg] done bought Death Row, but it was Sccit and Siavash who inspired me to make music again with the bangers they was bringin’ to the table,” RBX tells AllHipHop. “That authentic energy—none of that phony bullsh##, ya dig?”

As for the video, it’s a relatively straightforward affair, with RBX and posse posted up at various spots around the San Fernando Valley. But it also taps into the controversy surrounding the return of Death Row Records, with a fictional baseball game between Death Row and Labcabin Records ending in an all-out brawl.

“We got nothin’ but the upmost respect for Death Row’s legacy and were initially very happy to see it back in Snoop’s hands,” Sccit explains. “But the fact of the matter is, what the real Hip-Hop heads expected and what’s been coming out from them is night and day. When we first started working with RBX on the album, he was told that Snoop was bringin’ back the original Death Row cast and that there were big plans in store.

“Dogg Pound, Suga Free, Eastsidaz, Lady of Rage as well. They were all said to be droppin’, but we later found that it was all talk when nothing but R&B compilations and different type of stuff was being pushed. We used that as motivation to make some great music on our own terms without all the Hollywood vibes.”

Hibernation Shivers marks the first RBX album since 2007’s Broken Silence. The album boasts appearances by MC Eiht, Project Pat, Spice 1, Daz Dillinger, Kurupt, Ras Kass, Krayzie Bone, Cold 187um, Fatlip. The project is expected to arrive in November. Common Teases Album With Pete Rock And Reflects On Hip-Hop 50

Common found himself revisiting ‘90s Hip-Hop while working on a new album with Pete Rock. The Grammy-winning artist discussed what music he’s listening to these days and his Pete Rock collaboration during an appearance on MSNBC’s The Beat With Ari Melber on Monday (September 11).

“I’ve been creating a new project,” he told Melber. “I’m working on a new album with Pete Rock. Just the energy of that [’90s] music, whether it’s Brand Nubian, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul—because they just got their music on streaming. It’s been inspiring to hear. But I am creating music right now. I’m in a great space.”

Common also shared his thoughts on Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary. The actor/rapper described what it was like for him to perform at last month’s Hip-Hop 50 Live at Yankee Stadium show.

“It felt like we could just celebrate the love we have for this culture,” Common said. “And it made me think how much this culture is about that. It’s about celebrating us and also teaches us in the process, at certain times. But it really started as a party. It started as a joyful thing, and we were able to have that for this 50th year.”

Lil Nas X Inspired By His Documentary Premiere Despite Bomb Threat

Lil Nas X was relatively unfazed by a bomb threat at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday (September 9). Long Live Montero co-director Carlos López Estrada recalled the rapper/singer’s reaction to a homophobic caller disrupting the documentary’s premiere in a chat with Indiewire.

“We got to experience in five minutes what the life of Montero is like,” Estrada said. “And at the base of it all, it was this really awful, just horrific thing that you would have someone who disagrees with your worldview … They want to threaten your safety and make you feel scared for your life. That’s like the most horrible thing that a human can do to another. But you look past that and then Montero has this sort of amazing irreverence to him of just being like, ‘Yeah, but how rockstar is that?’”

Estrada marveled at Lil Nas X’s ability to navigate the hectic day at TIFF. The documentary provided inspiration for the pop star, who still managed to hit the studio after the festivities.

“He said he felt inspired and he booked his studio and he went to record,’” Estrada told Indiewire. “This was at 2:00 a.m. and I was just like, ‘What better token of appreciation can we get from our subject, from the coolest artist in the world to say that you made a movie about me. We premiered it together. We did a Q&A. And his reaction to it is, ‘I’m inspired. I’m going to go create more.’ It is like, ‘Oh, we’re good. Whatever happens to the movie next is not up to us. But that’s incredible.’”

Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero is scheduled to be released later this year. The documentary explores his first global tour.

Boosie Badazz Loses Another Instagram Account; Blames Yung Bleu Amid Contract Dispute

Boosie Badazz’s struggle to maintain his Instagram presence continued on Monday (September 11). The Baton Rouge native, who watched several of his accounts get deactivated in recent years, created a new one after his @mamaheliveagain2.0 page was deleted.

“Yung Bleu got my Instagram took,” he said in a video posted on his latest account. “Him and TQ the cable guy, they got my Instagram took.”

Boosie blamed his brother TQ and former protégé Yung Bleu amid their dispute over money. Boosie claimed the two screwed him out of a deal with EMPIRE by forging his signature.

Earlier this month, Yung Bleu bickered with his one-time mentor on social media. Boosie called Yung Bleu “a snake” and reiterated his forgery accusation.

The Story of 9/11 Hero Sgt. Jason Thomas And How Hollywood Erased Him

There are an infinite number of stories that have come out of September 11, a fateful day 22 years ago that changed the world forever.

Sgt. Jason Thomas is one of those stories. Thomas is an American Marine who gained national recognition for his heroic actions on September 11, 2001. The attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, like most people was supposed to be a typical day for him. He has initially stayed under the radar, however, his story still came to prominence in the years following the attacks as the public learned more about the acts of heroism and selflessness that occurred that day. He has no Twitter or easily found social media. I have looked.

On September 11, 2001, Sgt. Jason Thomas was not on duty but was living in the vicinity of the World Trade Center. He had just dropped off his daughter from school. When he witnessed the first plane crash into the North Tower, he immediately realized the gravity of the situation and felt compelled to take action. Without hesitation, he rushed to the scene to assist in the rescue efforts. He told the Associated Press, “Someone needed help. It didn’t matter who. I didn’t even have a plan. But I have all this training as a Marine, and all I could think was, ‘My city is in need.'”

Thomas, along with another Marine, Staff Sgt. Dave Karnes, spent hours searching through the wreckage and debris for survivors. Their determination and bravery were crucial in helping to locate two Port Authority police officers, John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno, who were trapped beneath the rubble of the collapsed towers. Thomas and Karnes played a vital role in keeping the officers alive and providing them with reassurance until they could be rescued.

Sgt. Jason Thomas’s actions, along with those of many other first responders and volunteers on that fateful day, exemplify the spirit of heroism and selflessness that emerged in the face of adversity. These individuals risked their own lives to save others and provide hope amid the tragedy. Sgt. Thomas’s story serves as a testament to the resilience and courage displayed by countless individuals in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

It’s important to note that Sgt. Jason Thomas is a real-life hero. He is still alive. His story is just one of many tales of bravery and sacrifice that emerged from the events of September 11, 2001. His actions and the actions of others that day continue to be remembered and honored as part of the collective memory of 9/11.

But, there is another side to this extraordinary tale of valor.

Sgt. Jason Thomas and his fellow Marine, Staff Sgt. Dave Karnes, were portrayed in the 2006 film “World Trade Center,” directed by legendary filmmaker Oliver Stone. This movie is a dramatic retelling of the events of September 11, 2001. It focuses on the experiences of two Port Authority police officers, John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno, who were trapped in the rubble of the World Trade Center and rescued with the help of Thomas and Karnes.

In the film, Staff Sgt. Dave Karnes was portrayed by actor Michael Shannon and Sgt. Jason Thomas was portrayed by actor William Mapother. Mapother is a white man and first cousin to megastar Tom Cruise. The movie aims to capture the heroism and resilience of individuals like Thomas and Karnes, but is a definite act of overt racism in not portraying Thomas as an African American.

The movie’s producer apologized in 2006 after the purported error was discovered, seemingly after the movie began taping. Thomas, acknowledged the “mistake,” and seemed understanding about this oversight. Nevertheless, he emerged to ensure that the accurate story could be conveyed. Understandably, Black people cried foul, expressing concerns and disappointment regarding the error.

Thomas has been called The Lost Hero of 9/11, but we’ll keep telling his story for years to come, along with the others that have selflessly helped make this nation better. They will no longer be washed away or marginalized.
