Lil Durk Admitted To Hospital Due To Health Scare

Lil Durk spent almost a week in the hospital, forcing him to miss a scheduled appearance at the 2023 ESPY Awards on Wednesday (July 12).

According to TMZ, Lil Durk was hospitalized on July 6. He suffered from severe dehydration and exhaustion.

Lil Durk sought medical help after he started feeling bad in Ohio. He was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

“My fans mean everything to me, you’re the reason why I do this,” he told TMZ. “I was looking forward to touching all of my European fans, performing this week(end), attending the ESPYs and more but after performing and traveling daily I’ve become severely dehydrated and advised by my doctors not to travel due to exhaustion. Once I get my full energy back, it’s back to business which I’m looking forward to.”

Doctors have not cleared Lil Durk to resume his work schedule. He previously had to take a break from performing after getting injured in a pyrotechnic accident at the 2022 Lollapalooza Festival.

Lil Durk remained focused on music despite his recent health scare. The Alamo Records artist teased a deluxe edition of his Almost Healed album on Thursday (July 13).

Almost Healed deluxe should of been the main album painnnnnnnnn,” he wrote on social media.

The original version of Almost Healed dropped in May. The album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Sources: Sukihana Used To Be “Conscious”

Remember this?

Sukihana is a fan of Dr. Umar Johnson. Suki previously expressed that she wanted a “situation” with the good doctor. She took her wild thoughts to her song “Grinch” rapping, “I want to f##k Dr.Umar and leave him woke right now.” This turned into Dr. Umar replying to her.

He said: “I am about work. I believe that sister does care about her people. I believe that sister does love her people. I believe that sister is ready for some guidance, and I’m willing to provide the guidance, but it’s business over the backshots.”

This was an interesting back and forth to me that FINALLY makes sense. The rumor is that Suki used to be “conscious” as a person. Now, I know some of you are going to say, “You can be conscious and nasty at the same time.” But, what I am saying is she used to be conscious-conscious, according to my snitch. She wasn’t looking, dressing or acting like she does today. She had an entirely different way of moving than she does now. In fact, she would’ve been the sort of woman that Dr. Umar would not have had to have a conversation with, my trusted source says.

I can’t exactly reveal how I know this, but we can just say that a lot of stars aligned in this rumor. First of all, you know Suki is originally from Delaware. Dr. Umar is presumably going to open a school in Delaware. AllHipHop’s roots are also in Delaware. Do you get the picture? So, there is a lot going on. On a serious note, if you have listened to Suki, she admits to having some sort of knowledge and sense in her head. Her and Dr. Umar could be a conscious power couple with a couple of changes!

On another note, she has been the subject of a lot of talk for her “other side.” Devoted followers of Sukihana are well aware of her untamed and unrestrained nature. Regrettably, certain unsettling incidents from her past (squirting) was captured on camera. They have resurfaced to haunt her. Another video has her reportedly twerking on Boosie Badazz’s dog. I can’t even begin to talk at length about this not-safe-for-work video, supposedly from Sukihana’s OnlyFans account.

I am sure you all are seeing this on Twitter, meanwhile I am on Threads. FOH, Elon!

Soulja Boy Reveals Financial Troubles In Legal Battle With Ex; Owes $1 Million To IRS

Soulja Boy explained why it will be difficult for him to pay the damages awarded to his ex-girlfriend Kayla Myers in a California civil trial.

According to Radar Online, Soulja Boy revealed his finances to convince the court to reconsider the damages in the case. The rapper admitted he is facing a $1 million tax lien.

Earlier this year, jurors awarded $235,900 in punitive damages to Myers. Soulja Boy’s ex-girlfriend sued him for abusing her at his Malibu home in 2019.

Judge Mark Epstein opened the door to reconsider the damages in June. The judge raised concerns about the jury’s decision since Myers did not present evidence of her ex-boyfriend’s finances at the trial.

Soulja Boy said he cannot pay the damages to Myers and his back taxes even if he liquidates his assets. His lawyer noted the rapper does not own any real estate. He leases a home for $25,000 per month.

The multi-platinum-selling artist’s assets include two vehicles worth $250,000 and a third one worth $100,000. He also owns $18,00 worth of jewelry and $50,000 in stock. His lawyer said the cars and jewelry are “tools of the trade” for a rapper.

Soulja Boy sought a new trial after losing to Myers in April. He asked the court to throw out the damages awarded to his ex.

Chrisean Rock Makes Marriage Plans – Minus Blueface

Chrisean Rock insisted she’s not concerned with proving she moved on from her tumultuous romance with Blueface. The reality TV star vowed to keep her dating life private until she finds a man she intends to marry.

“Da next n#### I show y’all finna be da n#### I marry,” she wrote via Twitter. “I love my space. I love my peace. I love me. I’m not pressed to show if I moved on. I’m excited to show my growth n new blessings.”

Chrisean Rock’s relationship drama with Blueface played out in the public eye over the past few years. The former couple frequently publicized their personal issues on social media. They also starred in a Zeus reality series titled Blueface and Chrisean Rock: Crazy In Love.

Earlier this year, a new twist emerged when Chrisean Rock announced she was pregnant. Blueface initially denied his paternity of the child, but he later admitted he was the likely father. The two continued to work together to promote the new season of their reality show despite their relationship’s demise.

The second season of Blueface and Chrisean Rock: Crazy In Love premieres on Sunday (July 16).

Tory Lanez’ Team Snaps At Reporter Covering His Case

Meghann M. Cuniff, a legal affairs journalist who reports for Forbes and other outlets, has been covering the case involving Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion.

She has received backlash from the crew of Lanez, the Canadian rapper at the center of the trial.

In one of her blog posts, Cuniff reported that Lanez sought to replace his former lawyer, Matthew Barhom, with a new attorney, Ronda Dixon.

Despite a hearing scheduled for Thursday, July 13, the judge presiding over the case did not approve the substitution. The lawyer approved to represent Lanez is Ed Welbourn, an attorney from Orange County.

The Umbrella, the entity representing Lanez’s interests, posted on his Instagram stories, “With all due respect … Please disregard anything Meghann Cuniff reports on Tory Lanez … her objective, perspective/narrative has always been negative and extremely biased towards him … if there is an update on Tory, it will come from this page first. If it doesn’t come from this page, it’s not real.”

The issue with The Umbrella’s comment is that Cuniff’s blog includes court documents and often reports objectively on matters recognized by the courts.

Lanez is incarcerated and awaiting his sentencing on August 7 for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet and injuring her nearly three years ago.

Beyoncé Exudes Afrofuturism And Dominance During Philly’s Renaissance Tour Stop

Glitter, silver and short shorts dominated the fashion scene as Beyoncé kicked off her national tour in Philadelphia, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening of music and entertainment. The stop followed a successful European stadium tour and North American kickoff in Toronto. An entire 2 1/2 hour spectacle jumpstarted the first Renaissance date in the United States.

The sold out Lincoln Financial Center became a melting pot of diverse individuals, who embraced their unique identities and celebrated the power of self-expression. People of all shapes, sizes, colors, backgrounds, nationalities and worlds gathered, creating a vibrant tapestry of humanity that reflected the inclusive spirit of Beyoncé’s music. Renaissance, her most recent album, is a love letter to the LGBTQ+ population—and the BeyHive was in full force.

In terms of attire, nothing was off limits and none of it mattered. One person said, “It’s Beyoncé, everybody’s doing too much,” as one man flashed his bare cheeks. The affair was reminiscent of the popular show “Swarm,” where a fanatic follows a Beyoncé-like singer, highlighting the immense popularity and influence of the artist. It was all fun and love in The Linc. The atmosphere crackled with anticipation as the crowd eagerly awaited the show’s start.

As the sun began to set, a meditative melody replaced the thumping dance music, signaling a shift in energy. The delay in the start time caused restlessness among some attendees, but the unwavering BeyHive showcased their sense of community and excitement. Stage managers meticulously tested the equipment, ensuring Beyoncé’s safety. Even a trap door elicited cheers from the crowd. It was evident the moment everyone had been waiting for was approaching, as the venue buzzed with electricity.

Then it happened. Beyoncé graced the stage, radiating confidence and beauty in a lace ensemble, her signature dirty blonde tresses flowing. At 8:45 p.m. ET, the Queen exclaimed, “I love you, Philadelphia,” forcing the crowd to fall under her spell. Taking a moment to acknowledge the crowd’s diverse fashion choices, she expressed her appreciation for the effort put into emulating her iconic style.

Despite a previous ankle injury suffered overseas, Beyoncé flawlessly danced her way through the show, defying all odds. It became increasingly clear she’s the Michael Jackson of our time, captivating audiences with her unmatched talent, stage presence and ability to connect with her fans on a profound level.

Dressed in a dazzling sequined black dress, Beyoncé captivated the audience with a six-song segment accompanied by a live band, showcasing her vocal prowess. The show then seamlessly transitioned into its central theme, embracing an Afrofuturistic aesthetic and motif. It was like Janelle Monáe dropped that ball and Beyoncé picked it up then 360-dunked it.

YouTube

The blizzard of beats in songs such as “I’m That Girl” and “Cozy” synchronized flawlessly with Beyoncé and her talented team of dancers, delivering sharp movements and confident choreography. Her homage to house/dance music, highlighted by tracks such as “Cuff It” and “Break My Soul,” electrified the Linc stadium with pulsating lights from every direction. Beyoncé exuded glam-infused confidence in a Barbie-pink gown, discarding her sunglasses with determination to maintain her rhythm. I’m still wondering who caught them and if they made it out alive.

A spirited rump shake during “Break My Soul” ignited the crowd, while Beyoncé’s interpolation of Madonna’s “Vogue” added to their excitement as she name-checked influential artists. A truly unforgettable (and expected) moment occurred when Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy, joined her mother’s squadron of dancers for a captivating three-song section, commencing with the empowering anthem “Run The World (Girls).” The crowd erupted joyfully at the sight of the next generation joining the iconic performer on stage.

The tour setlist predominantly featured songs from the Renaissance album, but Beyoncé also sprinkled in hits from her extensive catalog. The crowd joyfully participated in the escalating key changes of “Love on Top” before transitioning into The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” with perfect choreography to match.

The show continued with “Crazy in Love,” and then the tempo slightly decelerated with “Plastic Off the Sofa” and “Virgo’s Groove” from Renaissance. Beyoncé quickly reclaimed the audience’s attention with an encore that included a powerful message in “America Has a Problem,” adorned in a striking yellow-and-black headdress. With the American-styled red, black and green flag, this was not a normal show.

The concert was a mesmerizing experience, showcasing Beyoncé’s artistry and solidifying her status as an icon. From the explosive energy of the crowd to the masterful performances, it was an evening that will be etched in the memories of all those fortunate enough to witness it. Beyoncé continues to reign supreme, reminding us why she’s a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

Logan Paul & KSI’s Prime Energy Drink Recalled By Canadian Health Agency

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for six caffeinated beverages, one of which is the popular Prime energy drink associated with YouTubers Logan Paul and KSI.

According to Forbes, the Canadian Press released a report from Health Canada that claims Prime energy drinks exceed the permissible caffeine limit of 180 mg per serving, an amount beyond the limit established by the regulatory agency.

“High levels of caffeine may have adverse health effects for children, pregnant individuals, breastfeeding individuals, and those sensitive to caffeine,” the CFIA said. “Exercising while consuming caffeine may lead to adverse health effects. Some of the side effects of consuming excess caffeine may include insomnia, irritability, headaches and nervousness.”

The recall was initiated by the CFIA and aims to ensure the safety and well-being of consumers by removing these beverages from supermarket shelves. Paul and KSI’s drink simply was not in compliance with the government.

Part of the issue is that the energy drink, which is supposed to be vegan and free of sugar, has 200 milligrams of caffeine per can. That’s the same amount of caffeine in one of its cans that is in six cans of Coke or two Red Bulls.

The other drinks recalled are 3D Alphaland energy drink, 5-hour Energy, Celsius dietary supplement, GFuel energy drink and Sting.

Latto Threatens To Beat Up Fan After Something Is Thrown At Her

Latto, an Atlanta native, had to remind a fan not to mess with the “A” during one of her recent concerts. While performing “What’s Happening,” an individual threw something at her, prompting her to action.

“You want your ## beat? Throw it again,” she said, between rapping her bars. “Throw it again and I’m gonna beat you’re a##.”

The incident comes weeks after Latto won the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards on June 25.

Latto’s performance of her viral hit, “Put It On Da Floor,” at the 2023 BET Awards was deemed show-stealing. She also received one of the most highly sought-after awards of the night.

The audiobook/podcast service known as Audible celebrates Hip Hop culture’s 50th anniversary with several exclusive specials, including Can You Dig It? A Hip Hop Origin Story starring Chuck D.

An official trailer for Can You Dig It? has hit the internet. The preview presents a sneak peek into the five-part series which covers the story behind the birth of Hip Hop in the Bronx during the early 1970s.

“December 8, 1971, was a defining moment in American history. A time when the gangs of New York laid down their weapons and redirected their youthful energy towards the creative arts,” said Chuck D in the trailer.

The Public Enemy frontman continued, “Arts that would eventually become the foundation of what we now know as Hip Hop.” Can You Dig It? does a deep dive into the impactful Hoe Avenue peace meeting which played a major role in Hip Hopis rise in the following years.

Several New York City gangs came together at the Hoe Avenue peace meeting to call a truce. The murder of peacekeeper and Ghetto Brothers member Cornell “Black Benjie” Benjamin sparked the calls for an inter-gang alliance.

Joseph Mpa, Coke La Rock & More Join Chuck D As Part Of Can You Dig It?

“If Kool Herc is considered the father of Hip Hop, then my uncle was the general; my uncle was the martyr,” says Angelique Lenox, niece of Black Benjie. “He didn’t die in vain, something good came from his death; his life mattered. This is truly my best version of a love letter to my father and my family and I will not stop until his name is a part of the Hip Hop story.”

Angelique Lenox and other surviving relatives of Black Benjie took part in Can You Dig It? Former Black Panther Joseph Mpa and Bronx-born emcee Coke La Rock as well as photographers Joe Conzo and Henry Chalfant also provided insight into the time period.

The first episode of Can You Dig It? – titled “The Bronx is Burning” – examines the street-gang-to-peacemakers movement for groups like The Ghetto Brothers. Additional installments of the series cover other aspects of gang culture and the eventual peace mission which helped birth Hip Hop.

Tupac Shakur Docuseries ‘Dear Mama’ Scores Two Emmy Nominations

The late 2Pac continues to leave a mark on American culture over 25 years after his death. Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur has the chance to win more than one Primetime Emmy Award this year.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominations for the 75th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Wednesday (July 12). Dear Mama landed in two categories.

Several Dear Mama producers, including director Allen Hughes, earned nominations in the Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Series. Plus, Hughes and Lasse Järvi picked up nods for Outstanding Writing For A Nonfiction Program.

In addition to Dear Mama, the rest of the Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Series category includes HBO’s 100 Foot Wave, Nat Geo’s Secrets of the Elephants, Hulu’s The 1619 Project, and PBS’s The U.S. and the Holocaust.

Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur debuted on the FX network in April. The five-episode docuseries explored the legacies of Hip Hop icon 2Pac and his political activist mother.

“Wherever possible, we tried to find archival footage that hadn’t been seen so there’s a lot that we have in the five parts,” said Allen Hughes back in January. “There’s also audio that’s never been heard.”

The veteran filmmaker added, “For Tupac superfans, I believe that two of the most important things in the project [are] the never seen before. But most importantly, you get to understand why he made certain decisions.”

Allen Hughes and Lasse Järvi previously received Emmy nominations for their work on HBO’s The Defiant Ones. That docuseries covered Beats Electronics co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre. In addition, Hughes directed cult classic films such as Menace II Society and Dead Presidents with his brother Albert Hughes.

Meek Mill Defends Saying “Free Tory Lanez” Following Online Backlash

Philadelphia native Meek Mill found himself in the social media hot seat once again. This time, the 36-year-old entertainer caught heat for showing love to convicted felon Tory Lanez during a performance.

A California jury found Tory Lanez (born Daystar Peterson) guilty of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, having a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and gross negligence in discharging his firearm. Peterson faces over 22 years in state prison.

The case centered around a July 2020 shooting that caused injuries to Hip Hop star Megan Thee Stallion’s feet. Despite Lanez being found guilty, some Hip Hop figures still question whether the Canadian singer actually pulled the trigger that night.

“Free Tory Lanez,” proclaimed Meek Mill after performing the Lanez-assisted “Litty” at Rolling Loud Portugal earlier this month. Those remarks led to condemnation from many people online.

Critics accused Meek of supporting violence against women. Some detractors even brought up allegations of violent domestic abuse leveled against the Expensive Pain album creator in the past.

Meek Mill Compares Tory Lanez & Other Rappers To Mumia Abu-Jamal?

Following the backlash, Meek Mill took to the new social media app Threads to respond. The Dream Chasers frontman suggested criticism over his support for Black men in legal trouble is akin to a smear campaign.

“I say free Young Thug… free [YFN Lucci]… free [YNW Melly]. I don’t even know why y’all start dealing with us if yall gone try to smear us… That’s why I stick to the trenches,” wrote Meek Mill on the Meta-owned platform.

He added, “Narrative control starts every Monday lol. Nobody gives a f### what these people talking, [we’re] making real-life change out here every day! If I said free [Mumia Abu-Jamal] a. [I’m] gonna be shamed! He’s allegedly guilty for killing a few male [cops]! I grew up to the Black nation screaming that! Why do y’all think y’all can control us? We got millions and real man influence, not internet tricks!”

Then Meek Mill warned that his upcoming project will have even more controversial takes on it. The former Rick Ross protégé also posted, “I’m talking [worse] on my album y’all [might] need to cancel me before this s### come out… ain’t no filter on this s###!!!”

Meek Mill pushing the “Free Tory” campaign comes after he publicly blasted Tory Lanez two years ago. In a highly publicizing social media spat, Meek told Lanez, “You know for a fact I don’t f### [with] you right now.”

Lil Baby Declares Female Rappers Are Running The Game Right Now

There has been a lot of discourse taking place in Hip Hop culture about the current dominance of the female rap scene. Lil Baby seems to agree that women have their fingers on the pulse of the public at the moment.

Complex enlisted Lil Baby and Rylo Rodriguez for an episode of GOAT Talk on YouTube. During the one-on-one interaction, Baby had to name who he believes is the greatest female rapper of all time.

“Yeah, I’d say Nicki Minaj for sure,” answered Lil Baby. He also added, “It’s like crazy, crazy female artists right now, for sure. Females [are] like running the game right now.”

Last year, Lil Baby linked with Nicki Minaj for the “Do We Have a Problem?” and “Bussin” tracks. Both of those singles peaked inside the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Minaj has also worked with several female rappers over the last year. The New York-bred emcee recently created a musical partnership with Hip Hop neophyte Ice Spice for “Princess Diana” and “Barbie World.”

Lil Baby’s Quality Control labelmates, City Girls, earned a Hot 100 hit with 2022’s “Good Love” featuring Usher. City Girls member JT will drop a solo single called “No Bars” this Friday (July 14).

Additionally, 2023 produced popular songs by other female rappers like Coi Leray, Sexyy Red, Lola Brooke, Kaliii, and Doechii. Grammy winner Cardi B recently teamed with GloRilla, Latto, and Fendi Da Rappa for well-received collaborations as well.

Lil Wayne Opens 2023 ESPYS With Epic Sports-Themed ‘A Milli’ Remix: Nods To Coach Prime, Angel Reese, Victor Wembanyama + More

Lil Wayne opened the ceremony at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles Wednesday night (July 12) with a remix of one of his biggest hits.

The Hip-Hop icon treated guests to a very special sports-themed rendition of his 2008 hit song “A Milli,” flipping the lyrics to show love to legendary athletes.

Wearing an eye-catching pair of Marc Jacobs daisy Dr. Martens boots Lil Wayne gave a nod to an LSU star, rapping, “And I’m over New Orleans like an Angel, Reese,” as the crowd cheered at the acknowledgment. The audience soon began to catch on to the sporting twist when Lil Wayne flipped the “A Milli” lyrics to shout out another athlete.

“God is good, Damar Hamlin doing fine,” he continued, referencing the Buffalo Bills star’s recovery after suffering a cardiac arrest on the field earlier this year.

Hamlin paid tribute to the Bills’ training staff during an emotional speech, presenting them with an ESPY Award for Service.

Lil Wayne name-checked Deion Sanders, celebrating “Uncle Prime,” for his appointment as head football coach at the University of Colorado.

The master lyricist also weaved in the surname of one of the NBA’s hottest prospects. No. 1 draft pick, French phenom Victor Wembanyama, got the Lil Wayne stamp at the ESPYs less than a week after making his NBA debut for the San Antonio Spurs. “We pop ‘em like we coaching Wembanyana,” Lil Wayne rapped.

He also referenced the NCAA name, image and likeness (NIL) rights rule changes before name checking an NBA legend: “I want my NIL so I’m going back to college/ Tattoos on my face you can call me Dennis Rodman.”

Ice Cube Denies “Sellout” Claims Amid Criticism Of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Photo Op In Twitter Rant

Ice Cube briefly paused his war on pro basketball’s gatekeepers to clash with critics on Twitter who slammed the gangsta rap pioneer following his recent meeting with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Kennedy, an outspoken anti-vaxxer and 2024 presidential candidate, received some hefty internet backlash after he shared a photo from their meeting on July 10. Twitter users were divided by Ice Cube meeting the controversial politician and also by RFK classifying the rapper as ” one of our country’s most influential and outspoken civil rights leaders.”

The post racked up almost four million views in less than three days as users chimed in on the photo. While Ice Cube took a few days to respond—he was busy addressing the debate over whether he’s a better storyteller than The Notorious B.I.G.— he fired back at the critique in an explosive way.

He denied endorsing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and blasted claims he’ selling out in a furious Twitter rant.

“For all the simple minded short bus people out there,” Ice Cube began Wednesday night (July 12). “A picture is not an endorsement, dummy. Now get your ass over to bungalow 51 and S###.”

When a longtime fan said he was “disappointed” in Ice Cube and questioned his “mission,” he replied, “Sellout? I work for myself. I’m self-made. How do you feed your family??? How much do you sell your time for per hour on your job?”

Chuck D Speaks Out For Ice Cube

The legendary Chuck D also waded in the row with a co-sign.

“Know this fact,” he declared before adding, Ice Cube “has gone into every one of these ‘industries’ many of the masses worship… on HIS own rule and as his OWN MAN. A game that’s twisted many into demise. Not him. Know that. Seen the same dude since the day I met him. He KNOWS who he is. Know who YOU are.”

Nobody was safe from the wrath of Ice Cube, not even internet bots. “Bots are b###### that need to be checked too. Don’t take no s### from no f##### robots,” the Big3 founder stated.

2023 ESPYS: LeBron James Ends Retirement Speculation But Daughter Zhuri Steals The Show

LeBron James used his acceptance speech at the 2023 ESPY Awards to put an end to whispers he’s bowing out by confirming that he will be returning for the Lakers next season.

Speculation that he would retire began earlier this year after the Los Angeles Lakers lost the Western Conference final to Denver in May. He claimed he had “a lot to think about” amid rumors he was considering retirement.

However, LeBron James finally shut down the retirement speculation while accepting the ESPY Award for Best Record-Breaking Performance. He achieved the record for passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league’s all-time leading scorer.

“I don’t care how many more points I score, or what I can or cannot do on the floor,” James said during the ceremony Wednesday night (July 12).

“The real question for me is: Can I play without cheating this game? The day I can’t give everything on the floor is the day I’ll be done. Lucky for you guys, that day is not today,” he added. “In my 20 years playing this game and all the years before, I’ve never, ever cheated the game and I will never take it for granted.” Check out a clip below and watch the entire speech here.

Elsewhere during his speech, LeBron James dismissed the suggestion he will continue to play until either of his sons make the NBA. Nonetheless, coaching them helps keep him in the game.

“You know what brings me back every year? It’s watching and coaching my boys and their teammates,” he declared. “I see those kids and it brings me right back to why I play. Those kids get me back to where I need to be, just the pure love of this beautiful game.”

Zhuri James Makes Sure Mom Keeps It Clean

However, despite his long-awaited confirmation that he’s sticking around, it was the NBA superstar’s daughter who stole the show. Little Zhuri James interrupted mom Savannah’s touching speech to tell her to keep it clean!

Rihanna, however, has a fight on her hands. She’s up against Elton John, who would achieve EGOT status if he wins. Jay-Z could also repeat his 2022 Emmys win, which he received for last year’s Super Bowl halftime performance alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and guest 50 Cent.

Hov is nominated with Rihanna for Outstanding Variety Special as executive producers. The Roc Nation boss is also nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special.

Other nominated Hip-Hop acts include the Tupac Shakur documentary, Dear Mama, which is up for two awards, while The Notorious B.I.G. Sky’s The Limit: A VR Concert Experience earned an Outstanding Interactive Program nod.

Lizzo earned a nod in the Outstanding Variety Special category for HBO Max’s Lizzo: Live in Concert, while Kid Cudi earned a nomination for Netflix’s Entergalactic. As creator and executive producer, he’s recognized in the Outstanding Animated Program category.

A full list of this year’s nominees is available at Emmys.com. The 75th annual Emmys are currently set to air live on September 18. The show could be delayed if the ongoing writers’ strike continues. There’s talk of a possible actors strike, which could also impact the ceremony.
