Several HBCUs held their respective homecomings over the last few weeks. Apparently, some Florida A&M University students expected to see Latto at a homecoming concert on September 29.
In response, Latto had to go on social media to inform her fans that she will not be at the FAMU event in Tallahassee, Florida. The “Big Energy” rapper has been touring the country with Lizzo.
“Only addressing this to clear my name. I was never booked for FAMU [homecoming],” read a message posted by Latto. “My team was contacted directly this morning and asked if we could work something out due to the third-party promoter falsely advertising me.”
She added, “ME BEING UNDERSTANDING, I was willing to make it work even though I’m currently on tour. BUT since they brought incorrect info online, sabotaging my reputation, I’m gonna pass on the offer now. I NEVER want to disappoint my fans. I’m sorry to the students, I love yall – thanks for understanding.”

FAMU Student Body Officials Issue A Statement About Latto Situation
Florida A&M University’s Student Government Association also released a statement regarding the Homecoming Concert. According to the SGA, a promotional company called WRLD Entertainment handled the booking for the show.
“On September 14, 2022, WRLD Entertainment communicated that artists, City Girls and Latto, were officially booked for the 2022 FAMU Homecoming Concert and provided wire transfers reflecting so,” read an official letter from the FAMU Study Body President and Vice President.
The letter continued, “Like you, we were extremely disappointed when on Monday, October 25, Latto announced she was not booked for the event; however, WRLD Entertainment denies Latto’s assertions. She has been booked for the event.”
Earlier this week, Latto had to address another story circulating the internet. A Pop Base parody account on Twitter alleged Lil Wayne denied the RCA recording artist’s “Lollipop” sample request, but the Atlanta rapstress insisted that rumor was also false.
As a community that stands on the importance of documenting its icons correctly, battle rap fans collectively donned their debating hats on Tuesday (Oct. 25) to discuss BET’s “50 Greatest Battle Rappers of All Time” list.
Hip-Hop journalist Justin “The Company Man” Hunte compiled the BET list using a set of criteria that included various accolades and attributes. Among them, “number of classic battles, the strength of opponents, overall skill set, total views, longevity, and impact.” Hunt also considered more artist factors such as “charisma, performance, and imagination.”
However, in a community that thrives on debate, lists can cause controversy and have artists and their supporters up in arms over all aspects of every list. Despite rarely reaching a consensus on such topics, there was some agreement on a few glaring omissions that left many fans outraged. These included Chicago-based Big T and Harlem’s Ms. Hustle, both of whom made significant contributions to the scene. They joined Verb’s discussion to share their views, as did Justin Hunte.

Aaron Donald Severs Ties With Donda Sports
NFL star Aaron Donald issued a joint statement with his wife Erica addressing exit. They cited “recent comments and displays of hate and antisemitism,” although Kanye West was not mentioned by name.
“Our family has made the decision to part ways with Donda Sports,” the statement began. “The recent comments and displays of hate and antisemitism are the exact opposite of how we choose to live our lives and raise our children. We find them to be irresponsible and go against everything we believe in as a family.”
The couple said they felt “a responsibility to send a clear message that hateful words and actions have consequences,” before adding, “we must do better as human beings.”

He continued, “I have always, and will always, continue to stand strongly against any antisemitism, hate speech, misrepresentation, and oppressive rhetoric of any kind. In light of that, after sharing in conversations, I now recognize that there are times when my voice and my position can’t coexist in spaces that don’t correspond with my stance or my values.”
Brown concluded, “And, for that reason, I am terminating my association with Donda Sports.”
However, the President of Donda Sports is sticking by Ye. Former NFL star Antonio Brown affirmed his support for Kanye on Tuesday. He claimed the rapper’s controversial statements were blown “out of proportion” by the media.

Antonio Brown has affirmed his commitment to Kanye West and his sports marketing agency DONDA Sports, as companies, brands, and individuals are severing ties with the rapper in their droves over his antisemitic comments.
The former NFL star, who joined DONDA Sports as president in February, issued a statement shortly after Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown and Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald announced they terminated their association with the agency.
On Tuesday evening (Oct. 25), Antonio Brown took to social media to voice his support for Kanye West.
“Over the past few weeks the world’s reactionary and selective outrage at comments in the media made by my brother, Ye, have inflamed and sparked rampant conversation and reflection. I too have been able to reflect on statements that I and others in my circle have made that lack clarity in expressing my stance. The people and brands that have relentlessly profited from Black ideas and Black culture chose to distance themselves at a very specific time: a time that demonstrated their prioritization of certain groups over others,” Antonio Brown said.
“None of us in this world are free of judgment, yet we live in a time where scrutiny and pessimism have driven our dialogues on cultural issues toward diatribes. Kanye West’s longtime engineer Andrew Dawson announced donations to multiple organizations in wake of the controversial rapper’s antisemitism and claims about George Floyd.
The engineer revealed he’s donating money from his royalties to the Anti-Defamation League, the NAACP and others in an Instagram post on Tuesday (October 25). Andrew Dawson didn’t mention Kanye West by name but referenced “recent events” as the reason for the donations.
“I have a resume I am proud of that represents decades of supporting the voices, visions and creativity of talented artists,” he wrote. “However, recent events compel me to be a supporter of more important voices at this time.”
He continued, “To support those voices, I will be making donations from my royalties to the ADL, NAACP, as well as Jewish and Civil Rights organizations. Two donations have already been made.”
Andrew Dawson began working with Kanye West on The College Dropout album, which dropped in 2004. The veteran engineer’s other collaborators include Tyler, The Creator and Childish Gambino.

The company announced it’s removing all of the Yeezy Gap products from stores as various brands cut ties with Kanye West. The retailer also shuttered its Yeezy Gap website.
“In September, Gap announced ending its Yeezy Gap partnership,” Gap said in a statement. “Our former partner’s recent remarks and behavior further underscore why. We are taking immediate steps to remove Yeezy Gap product from our stores and we have shut down YeezyGap.com.”
Gap added, “Antisemitism, racism and hate in any form are inexcusable and not tolerated in accordance with our values. On behalf of our customers, employees and shareholders, we are partnering with organizations that combat hate and discrimination.”
Kanye West and Gap’s partnership ended before ‘Ye garnered outrage for making antisemitic remarks on various platforms. The controversial rapper publicly feuded with Gap, which led to a split in September.
Since then, more companies stopped doing business with Kanye West. Adidas, Balenciaga, CAA and others dropped ‘Ye due to his antisemitism.
Kanye West lost his billionaire status after Adidas severed its relationship with him. According to Forbes, his net worth slipped to $400 million in wake of Adidas’ decision.
St. Louis rapper 30 Deep Grimeyy agreed to a plea deal, ending his trial for a gun charge on Tuesday (October 25).
According to multiplereports, the 25-year-old artist pleaded guilty to one count of felon in possession of a firearm. He was taken into custody after reaching an agreement on the second day of his trial.
30 Deep Grimeyy, whose real name is Arthur Pressley, was arrested for weapon possession in January 2021. St. Louis police found a Beretta 9mm pistol during a traffic stop.
Police pulled over a 2008 Pontiac G8 with four men inside it for a missing taillight and a license plate registered to a Jeep. Cops spotted a gun between 30 Deep Grimeyy and another passenger in the backseat.
The St. Louis rapper’s defense aimed to raise doubts about the ownership of the weapon when his trial began on Monday (October 24). But he admitted to possessing the gun the day after it was bought and the night of his arrest as part of his plea deal.
30 Deep Grimeyy, who has collaborated with notables such as Lil Baby and NLE Choppa, will be sentenced on February 1, 2023. He faces up to 10 years in prison.

AllHipHop spoke with Whookilledkenny about his name, his background, the new release, and more!
AllHipHop: What inspired your name?
Whookilledkenny: I originally used to go by Kenny Gee, but I had to change my name when I learned that I could face copyright issues due to the saxophone player Kenny G. I wanted something that would sound like a band or a group, not just one person. I thought it would look cool on festival flyers.
AllHipHop: How would you describe your sound?
Whookilledkenny: Player and luxurious or lavish. I talk about my lifestyle and real life events. If you live a similar lifestyle you can relate to it. Living in LA the past few years I’ve also added a different bounce to my music from working with producers from out here.
AllHipHop: Biggest influences?
Whookilledkenny: Wiz and Travis Scott. The influence that Wiz had when I was in high school is something I would love to have in the near future and being from Texas, Travis is one of my favorite artists of all time.
AllHipHop: At what point did you realize you could do music for a living?
Whookilledkenny: In elementary school, I knew I wanted to be the President or a rapper. Being President seemed like a long shot and at the same time I was performing raps at different churches across Dallas and I fell in love with performing and making music.
AllHipHop: New single and visual for “Worth It,” what inspired the record?
Whookilledkenny: I’m inspired by people in my life. I make music everyday so whatever is going on that day is reflected in the music
AllHipHop: Where was the video shot? Best memory?
Whookilledkenny: Pacific Palisades. Best memory is how player that area is… I would live there easily. We really just drove around the neighborhood and shot different scenes on whatever streets looked dope. We shot a scene in a front yard and the owner came out, told us he was a documentary film maker and that we could shoot outside his house for as long as we need to so shout to him
AllHipHop: What’s one thing you want fans to get from your Strictly Business EP?
Whookilledkenny: I make hits.
AllHipHop: What is it you want fans to get from your story?
Whookilledkenny: Keep pushing and don’t give up. If you know what your goals are, work everyday to get closer to them. I dropped a project in 2019 and ended up taking it down because it didn’t stream well. I used the entire year of 2020 to work on music and to understand the marketing and the business side of things. As soon as 2021 hit, we hit the ground running and haven’t looked back since.
Before that when I was in high school in Austin, I was selling tickets to music festivals to all the kids in my school because if you solde enough tickets they would let you be the opener. No matter what, I’ve always figured out a way to keep going.
AllHipHop: How was it working with Buddah Bless and Hollywood Cole?
Whookilledkenny: I met them both during a trip I took to Atlanta. I got a lot of music with both of them.
AllHipHop: Explain your “pay the fee” mentality.
Whookilledkenny: It’s universal. Everybody paying the fee to somebody. And everybody collecting a fee from somebody.
AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?
Whookilledkenny: Weed, backwoods, and a lighter.
AllHipHop: Goals yourself as an artist at this point of your career?
Whookilledkenny: Touring is my main goal at the moment. I get dm’s from people in different cities telling me “come to New York” or “come to Chicago” so I’d really love to touch the road in 2023 and meet all my fans that have been supporting me.
Lil Durk partnered with the investment platform Exceed Talent Capital to offer fans shares of his next song’s royalties.
Exceed will launch an IPO for the OTF rapper’s song “Bedtime” featuring Doodle Lo, allowing fans to own a share of the royalty income. Exceed will also release the “Trenches All-Access Pass,” providing priority list reservations for the IPO’s sale and an easy way to join Lil Durk’s Grand Theft Auto roleplay server.
The “Trenches All-Access Pass” grants instant entry into Lil Durk’s GTA server known as The Trenches. The server has 15,000 people on the waitlist, but the pass allows players to jump the line with lifetime access.

Over the weekend, singer and rapper, Doja Cat broke the Internet as she celebrated her birthday.
Last night, when I was in a sleepy haze, I saw a tweet that woke me up. That tweet was of Doja Cat’s naked breasts. And what a sight it was!
Now, I am not one of those guys that has never seen a pair of breasts before. However, if you are acting as if seeing those your cats, mammary glands is just like seeing someone else’s, then you are a natural born fool.
Doja Cat is one of the weirdest people in music today, but she is also one of the sexiest and most talented musicians to. There’s always something magical about seeing a superstar of that caliber naked.
Well, she promised to do it on her 27th birthday, and she delivered. What’s so funny is that she didn’t even have pictures herself and asked for people to send her direct messages of herself nude. She just wanted to repost and spread the love. By the way, it was a sex party a-la Eyes Wide Shut party, according to reports.
So, it seems to be my duty to help her amplify the message. The only thing is, this is a rated PG situation, and I cannot post the naked pictures in full. What I can do is give you some direction and also some idea of what happened.

Now, the former billionaire’s JEWISH divorce attorneys Bernard Clair and Bob Cohen from the prestigious New York Cohen Clair Lans Griefer Thorpe & Rottenstreich LLP are parting ways.
“The reason why I signed with Donda Sports, it represented education, it represented activism, disruption,” the baller said. “It represented single-parent households, and a lot more people are involved in something like that.”
He added, “A lot of people that I work with, work with their families, build love and respect for, spending time in the summer. A lot of people involved. That’s what the organization from my vantage point from Donda Sports represented.”
The other person signed to Yeezy’s sports agency is Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. He has yet to make a statement about his status with the agency.
As rostered clients, Donda represents the two and their marketing and business interests outside the sports they play. Donda will not be representing their sports contracts with their respective leagues.
It looks like Kanye West just lost one. 1 billion!
After a slew of antisemitic comments, as well as anti-Black remarks, he has lost his deal with Adidas. And losing that deal with Adidas, he has also lost his billionaire status.
According to Forbes, the company that also anointed him a billionaire to begin with, said he is no longer a billionaire. Ye has been with Adidas since 2013, nearly 10 years. They have promoted his expensive Yeezy line of sneakers and made a ton of money to boot.
The company announced today that they will lose nearly $250 million in this quarter alone after dropping Kanye West and his Yeezy line. By the way, they owned the intellectual property that Kanye was working through. So it’s possible that they will continue with the Yeezy line even after their deal is done, I am being told. (FYI: I have also seen reports that say he could take Yeezy elsewhere or release it himself.) Kanye bragged, “The thing about it being Adidas I can say antisemitic things and Adidas can’t drop me … now what … now what.”
What? They dumped him and still own it. Crazy.
Anyway, Kanye West, challenged Adidas to drop him, almost like a dare. And they did.
Most people know by now that Adidas was founded by two brothers that were Nazis. The other brother went on to start Puma. So there was a tremendous amount of pressure for them to drop him, and their stock had already dropped considerably since his rant.
The Adidas deal was worth of reported $1.5 billion, calculated off years of earnings. Forbes, with their experts, looked at the royalties and earnings from this deal, similar to music or film residual income. They said that the Adidas money could be sold off, similar to a catalog of a recording artist.
Forbes maintains that without Adidas, Kanye is worth about $400 million. This estimate is based on real estate, liquid, cash, music catalog, on minority stake in Kim Kardashian‘s, Shapeware company, and other sources.
Kanye maintained that he was always worth well more than 1 billion, maintaining he was worth roughly $3,000,000,000. He disputed the Forbes account.
He also maintained that his Adidas partnership was worth $4.3 billion. Regardless, he is no longer worth $1 billion, whether he wants to believe that or not.
Now some people are going to maintain that this is more lies. But they believed it when he was proclaimed a billionaire by the very company that now says he is not. I’m not here to dispute or validate the Forbes list, but it does seem to be the gold standard.
By the way, Kanye has started to post on Parler, the Right Wing social media platform that was once owned by Candace Owens’ husband. Strange times we’re in, my friends.

It seems that Brittney Griner will be serving her complete nine-year sentence in a Russian jail after the communist nation’s court rejected the appeal of her drug possession conviction on Tuesday, October 25th.
On the other hand, according to the Associated Press, it might just be a ploy to get the White House to engage in a “high-stakes prison swap” between countries.
She did not deny having the vapes but said she accidentally packed them in her bag, rushing to catch her flight. In addition, she said in America, she had been prescribed cannabis to treat her chronic pain.
Her legal team presented written statements from her medical professionals— still it didn’t fly with the Big Reds.
“I’ve been here almost eight months, and people with more severe crimes have gotten less than what I was given. I want to also apologize for this mistake, and I said in my first part, that, yes I pleaded guilty. I did not intend to do this, but I understand the charges brought against me. And I just hope that that is also taken into account too as well, that I did guilty,” Brittney Griner said from her cell during the court hearing.
The 32-year-old baller did not appear live in the Moscow Regional Court but was zapped in via video from the penal colony where she is being held outside the capital. She spoke on her situation from behind bars.
Griner has been sentenced to close to the max of 10 years, basically ending her career as a player and compromising her financial stability.
Her lawyers reviewed the average sentence for such a crime, and it is nearly half the sentence, and almost 1/3 of those convicted for the crime have been granted parole.
They claim her sentencing is excessive, and many in the public add she is being used in an international game of political chess.
