Chinx Estate Unveils Posthumous Album ‘Cocaine Riot 7’

Chinx’s estate announced a new album ahead of the eight-year anniversary of his death.

The late rapper’s posthumous project Cocaine Riot 7 drops on Friday (May 12). Chinx’s manager Douglas “Biggs” Ellison reflected on releasing more of the slain artist’s music in a press statement.

“Each time we sit down to do a project, I can’t believe how much work was put in to achieve his ultimate goal of releasing the first album,” Ellison said. “After eight years we have not only released the first album but keep delivering current timeless gems to the people. CR7 is no different, it’s pure and unadulterated Chinx speaking to the fans! I’m so glad that he can continue to live through the music. Cutting through the noise. What an accomplishment!”

Chinx’s latest album features guest appearances by French Montana, Offset, Jim Jones and more. The project serves as the follow-up to 2022’s CR6.

Cocaine Riot 7 arrives less than a week before the May 17 anniversary of Chinx’s death. His family continues to wait for a conviction in his murder case.

Chinx, whose real name was Lionel Pickens, was shot and killed in a drive-by in 2015. He was 31.

Last year, the 50 Cent-produced series Hip Hop Homicides covered Chinx’s murder. The episode is available to stream on ALLBLK.

Young Dolph Murder’s Alleged Mastermind Posts Bond

Hernandez Govan, the man accused of orchestrating Young Dolph’s murder, posted bond on Thursday (May 11).

Govan spent months in jail without bond after his November 2022 arrest. His bond was set at $90,000 on Thursday.

Court records did not reveal if Govan has been released from jail. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office lists his bond status as paid. Govan will be under house arrest while he awaits trial.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys agreed on the bond for Govan. Young Dolph’s family was made aware of the agreement.

“Our focus is on what’s going to happen to best put the case forward and make sure that justice is done,” Shelby County District Attorney General Steve Mulroy said, per the Daily Memphian. “We’ve come into some information about Mr. Govan’s role and medical conditions that make us think that this is the best resolution in order to get justice for the case.”

Young Dolph was shot and killed at a Memphis bakery in November 2021. Prosecutors say Govan ordered the hit on the rapper.

Govan was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Authorities accused Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith of carrying out Young Dolph’s murder.

Johnson and Smith faced charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, unlawful carrying and possession of a firearm, employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony and theft of property. A fourth man named Jermarcus Johnson was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder for allegedly providing payments to the gunmen.

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Makes Its Case For Opening Casino In Times Square

Roc Nation published an open letter to New York City as part of its efforts to open a casino in Times Square.

Jay-Z’s company pushed back against the opposition to the casino in the letter. Roc Nation insisted its plans will benefit New Yorkers.

“A gaming license is going to be awarded to New York City,” Roc Nation noted. “A bill was passed in the state legislature confirming it. The question is: which applicant will get the license? Some conflicted parties have attempted to spread misinformation, so we wanted to speak to you, New York City, directly.”

Jay-Z’s team intended to commit $115 million to “diverse theater programs” in its bid to open Caesars Palace Times Square. Roc Nation claimed the casino will help mass transit, protect Broadway and invest in sanitation.

“The winning licensee must always put the wellbeing of New Yorkers at the top of their agenda and do right by its residents,” the company contended. “This is too important of a moment in our city’s illustrious history. Times Square, the epicenter of entertainment with a palpable energy, is unmatched. Roc Nation and our partners are here to ensure Times Square remains connected to all facets of clture. There’s no better location for a Caesars Palace entertainment destination than the Crossroads of the World.”

Young Thug Rushed To Hospital Weeks After Seeking Bond For Fourth Time

Judge Ural Glanville suspended court proceedings in the YSL RICO case after Young Thug was taken to the hospital on Thursday (May 11).

According to multiple reports, Young Thug was scheduled to appear in court for the latest round of jury selection. He never showed up to court due to an undisclosed illness.

“I’m obviously concerned about his wellbeing,” Young Thug’s attorney Keith Adams told Judge Glanville.

Last month, Young Thug made a desperate plea to get out of jail. He requested bond for the fourth time since his May 2022 arrest.

Young Thug’s legal team claimed he was “languishing” in jail as he relied on eating junk foods like chocolate and chips to survive. But Adams did not think the rapper was dealing with a severe medical condition.

“My understanding is when he went to go be seen by a doctor, he was OK, he was alert,” Adams told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I don’t have any reason to believe he is in any serious condition. He just wasn’t feeling well.”

Thursday’s court proceedings could have continued without Young Thug, but Adams opted to not waive his client’s presence. The lawyer said it wasn’t in the 300 Entertainment artist’s best interest.

Young Thug is one of 10 defendants awaiting trial in the YSL RICO case. Jury selection began in January, but no jurors have been seated.

Tucker Carlson Launching Show On Elon Musk’s Twitter

Tucker Carlson did not stay out of work for long.

It seems weeks after being fired from FOX News, where for years he was the top-paid anchor, is now relaunching his show on Twitter.

The controversial conservative announced the news on Tuesday, May 9, saying he chose the platform because in his opinion it is the only one that still allows free speech.

It is not that shocking since Elon Musk now owns Twitter and, in the past, has urged his millions of people to vote Republican.

There also seems to be a relationship between Musk and Carlson, as he appeared on his Fox show right before he got axed.

He dropped the news on Twitter via a video.

Carlson started off the clip by saying “The news is full of lies.”

He said that as a 30-year vet in newsrooms, he says the news is usually filtered by some other partisan entities with agendas.

The pundit said just because a media source’s lawyers fact checks the stories and gives you those facts, “doesn’t make it true,” and hiding behind such lies is one of “the stealthiest and most insidious kind” of lies.

In fact, he says, there are outlets deliberately lying to the public.

“You know, that if you bump up against those limits, often enough you will be fired,” he said, adding that he should know because he was fired too.

“Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops. Twitter is not a partisan site everybody’s allowed here and we think that’s a good thing,” he continued.

Carlson ended his video by saying, “We’ll be bringing a new version of the show we’ve been doing for the last 6 1/2 years to Twitter. We bring some other things too, which we’ll tell you about. But for now, we’re just grateful to be here free speech is the main right that you have.”

No word on when the show will start.

What Is The Real Deal With Jamie Foxx?

Jamie Foxx has been hospitalized for weeks, but it feels like forever! The talented singer, actor, comedian, talk show host and much more has a mystery ailment and we want to know what it is! The problem is, for us, those close to Foxx have better security than the president. Nothing has come out, except the rumors that he suffered from a massive stroke. By the way, this seems to be what it is. BUT, at the end of the day, we do not know!

Adidas Hatches Plan To Sell Yeezy Merch And Give Proceeds To Jewish Organizations And Others He Offended

As Adidas tries to salvage all of the Yeezy inventory it has left after separating from Kanye West in 2022.

AllHipHop.com well documented the split between the sports brand and the recording artist-turned-designer for months.

Most recently Adidas has been talking about new ways to engage the brand without Ye, even as its shareholders are looking to sue over allegations, they were left out of the dark on how bad the relationship between parties had broken down.

Now, according to the Straits Times, Bjorn Guldren, the chief executive, has announced on Thursday, May 11 at the company’s annual general meeting,  when it resumes selling merchandise from the Yeezy line, the proceeds will be donated to a variety of international organizations that fight against antisemitism and other forms of hate.

“We are working on these things. Burning the goods would not be a solution,” Mr. Gulden said.

These donations will be in addition to the $1.3 million the brand shelled out in November to the Anti-Defamation League, an international Jewish non-governmental organization based in New York.

The ADL is all for this idea, saying, it “stands ready and prepared to work with Adidas.”

While it seems to be an altruistic effort, this too comes down to dollars and sense (oops cents).

If the company did not sell Yeezy sneakers and apparel, the company is poised to lose $1.7 billion in revenue.

Already, the company dropped substantially when Kanye made his comments, and then when his fans stopped supporting the brand when he was let go.

Who Was Pitting Malcom X And MLK Against Each Other?

The Devil Stay Working!

A new book, “King: A Life,” has unveiled a historical mistruth. Basically, author Jonathan Eig, in his research, reveals that a famous criticism of Malcolm X by Dr Martin Luther King Jr in 1965 was falsified! WHAT? Said interview was with Playboy magazine and was conducted by Alex Haley.

King reportedly said that Malcolm’s “fiery, demagogic oratory” was the reason that there was a chasm between the men philosophically. This deep divide was a construct. The narrative has always been that King and Malcolm X had irreconcilable differences in their approaches to the civil rights movement. Now we find this is nonsense. We knew it was always BS, because if you study them, you know they were more similar than different.

Journalist Alex Haley, who was 43 at that time, conducted a long interview with Martin Luther King Jr., who was then a mere 36, for Playboy magazine. This interview was published and republished time and time again through the years. It essentially caused a huge beef between the two leaders. The book “King: A Life”says that King was misquoted.

Eig discovered an 84-page RAW transcript of the full interview and it says that King was way more open-minded about Malcolm X than advertised by the government. King does not agree with all of Malcolm’s views, but he stated that he might have the answers in that Islamic brain of his. The published interview makes it seem like he was dissing Malcolm. The is a cardinal journalistic sin and Haley is once again maligned as a write and author. We should not forget it was Haley that co-wrote “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” and The Roots saga, boy have had questions around the works for historical inaccuracies and as well as plagiarism.

OY VEY!

The big question is WHY? Did Alex Haley do this himself? Was it Playboy that did it or somebody more sinister like J. Edgar Hoover?

Ice Cube Invites Newly Crowned King Charles To British Big3 Event

Gangsta rapper-turned-league owner, Ice Cube is heading over to Great Britain, looking for some royal love.

According to The U.S. Sun, the N.W.A. founding member is taking his Big3 basketball competition to London and hopes to host the newly crowned monarch, King Charles at one of the events.

The star-studded 3×3 exhibition is scheduled to grace the 02 Arena on Aug. 26.

“We want it to be star-studded. We want it to be the place to be in London on August 26,” the “Jackin’ For Beats” rapper said.

“We want people to feel like there is no better place to be in the city than the O2 Arena. Maybe the King might pop through and check it out, you never know!” he continued.

Adding, “I’ve got a seat next to me, [King Charles] can come down there and kick it with me and we can check out some Big3 basketball. I think he’ll dig it!”

No word if the offer was sincere or if he was just joking around.

Cube does intend to have some basketball royalty in the house. Two names that have been dropped to be in attendance his summer are Julius “Dr J” Erving and Clyde “the Glide” Drexler.

Do you think the King and his Queen will make an appearance, or will he have better luck getting Harry to fly over quickly?

Killer Mike Celebrates His “Badass” Mom With “Motherless” Music Video

Michael “Killer Mike” Render will release his self-titled solo album Michael on June 16. The Run The Jewels member prepares his fans for the project by presenting a two-part short film.

“PART 1: Don’t Let The Devil” and “PART 2: Motherless” arrived on March 10. “Don’t Let The Devil” features Run The Jewels rapper/producer El-P and Hip Hop artist thankugoodsir. EL-P (born Jaime Meline) also worked on the treatment for the Davi Peña-directed “PART 1: Don’t Let The Devil” video.

“El’s heard me talk about these bohemian-artsy-disco-infused parties my mom used to throw when I was a kid. I’d hear everything there- that’s where I first heard Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow, and Whodini,” says Killer Mike.

The Atlanta native continues, “So when we were trying to figure out what the video for ‘Don’t Let The Devil’ should be – Jaime came back with this treatment written out and I cried at the end. What’s even crazier is he didn’t know what we were doing for ‘Motherless’ either, but that’s the magic I guess.”

Killer Mike Explains The Inspiration For His “Motherless” Song

“Motherless” features R&B musician Eryn Allen Kane. Shane Smith directed the visuals dedicated to Killer Mike’s late mother. The 48-year-old Dungeon Family collective affiliate provided more insight into the making of the song.

“When I first played [Dion “No I.D.” Wilson] the album, he said two things – one of which was that I was essentially holding something back and that was the song ‘Motherless,'” explains Killer Mike. “It was the last song made for the album because I hadn’t uttered these words out loud since her transitioning. When I tell the story of my mother, the tales told include one when I walked in on her attempting to take her own life – it gets to the heart of how deeply sensitive an artist and human she was.”

Mike adds, “She survived, was diagnosed bipolar and depressed; she fought that until the day she died. She lived a beautifully rich outlaw of a life and I am honored to show her as the total beautiful badass she was. These aren’t meant to be sad videos or eulogies. This is a celebration of a BAD ASS BLACK GIRL from the west side of Atlanta. She’s been affectionately called OG Mama Niecy by the many people she helped stay on their path.”

Following the release of the Michael album, Killer Mike will embark on a 19-date tour beginning July 10 in Birmingham, Alabama. In addition, Run The Jewels will take part in a 4-city concert series celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the ATL/NYC duo later this year.

Pras Plans To Sue 50 Cent, Kyrie Irving & ‘Rolling Stone’ For Defamation

It appears Prakazrel “Pras” Michel, is ready to sue a fellow rapper, an NBA player, and a long-running music publication. The Ghetto Supastar album creator supposedly plans to file a defamation lawsuit against Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Kyrie Irving, and Rolling Stone magazine.

Pras took issue with a Rolling Stone article that apparently alleged the Brooklyn-born Hip Hop artist spent time working as an informant for the United States federal government. Attorney Jonathan Noah Schwart claims his client lost business deals as a result of those allegations.

In addition, Pras is taking aim at 50 Cent for labeling him as a “rat” on Instagram. Likewise, Kyrie Irving could be a defendant in the case for posting an April 25 tweet that suggested the ex-Fugees member was an FBI informant

Michel’s legal team sent representatives for 50 Cent, Kyrie Irving, and Rolling Stone notification letters on Wednesday. AllHipHop.com received copies of those letters addressing the pending legal action.

Pras Claims Rolling Stone Caused Him Significant Damages

“The false and defamatory statements falsely labeling Pras as being a ‘government informant’ made by Rolling Stone to its 50 million readers globally have caused significant damages to both Pras and Mr. Kenner,” reads part of Pras and attorney David Kenner’s letter.

David Kenner defended Pras during his 2023 federal criminal trial. In April, a Washington, D.C. jury convicted the 50-year-old Grammy winner on ten criminal counts in connection to an international, financial conspiracy.

The Feds Secured Guilty Verdicts Against Pras

Federal prosecutors accused Pras of working with Malaysian businessman Jho Low and the Chinese government in order to gain access to U.S. officials, including former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump.

The jury found Pras guilty of conspiracy to defraud the United States, witness tampering, and acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government. He reportedly faces up to 20 years in prison. Representatives of Pras asserted that the government would not prosecute and threaten an “informant” with such a lengthy sentence.

50 Cent Labeled Pras As A “Rat” On Instagram

In addition to Rolling Stone, Pras and David Kenner contacted Hip Hop mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson about his alleged defamatory comments. The letter focused on the New York City native’s April 24 social media activities associated with calling Michel an informant.

“50 Cent’s labeling of Pras as a ‘rat’ to his 29 million followers on Instagram was unsubstantiated and has caused significant damage to Pras and Attorney Kenner’s business interests and reputations, as well as placed their safety at risk,” reads the notification letter sent to Jackson.

An Alleged Defamatory Tweet By Kyrie Irving Is Still On His Active Twitter Page

Kyrie Irving’s online remarks also led to correspondence from Pras and David Kenner. The possible plaintiffs singled out that April 25 Twitter post about informants which is still visible on the @KyrieIrving Twitter page, as of press time.

“We are deeply troubled by this recent tweet made by Kyrie on Twitter to his 4.7 million followers accusing Pras of being an FBI informant. This comment was and is false and defamatory and has caused significant damage to the business interests and reputations of Pras and attorney Kenner, as well as has placed their safety at risk,” reads the notification letter sent to Irving.

The Pending Case Could Head To A Florida Court

Prakazrel “Pras” Michel and his legal team will likely sue Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Kyrie Irving, and Rolling Stone in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Apparently, Florida law requires plaintiffs to notify all possible defendants at least five days before filing a lawsuit via a letter that includes the alleged defamatory statements.

Each notification letter also included, “Pras and attorney Kenner are committed to seeing through all necessary legal action to protect their rights and interests. This includes following the 5-day period subsequent to the letter, which is prescribed by the Florida Statutes.”

Shaq & Chris Rock Co-Sign Consequence’s 11-Year-Old Son Caiden’s Latest Single “FVC”

Consequence’s young son Caiden the Crownholder has caught the attention of Shaquille O’Neal. Earlier this week, the NBA legend shared a snippet of Caiden’s latest video, “FVC.” The short clip showed the prodigious young rapper firing off his lyrics as the video jumped around from a parking lot to a convenience store to a city street.

Consequence, always the proud father, re-shared Shaq’s post to his own Instagram account and added in the caption: “Ask my guy @shaq. He Know The VIBES. IT’S UPPPPP. Thanks for the post beloved. FVC (Facts vs Cap).”

Cons tells AllHipHop, “Year by year, Caiden has been working at his craft which has evolved from rapping to now producing as well. So to see his hard work be recognized by Shaq during the NBA Playoffs is a priceless co-sign that money can’t buy!”

As Consequence noted, it’s the middle of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Shaq’s former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, are working on eliminating defending champions, the Golden State Warriors.

As for Caiden, all signs are pointing to a promising future. Chris Rock is also feeling the video. On Wednesday (May 10), Rock shared a clip of it to his Instagram Stories encouraging his six million followers to watch it.

Did Jermaine Dupri Downplay Rumors Of A ‘Verzuz’ With Diddy?

Many people in the Hip Hop world got excited after reading new reports that Jermaine Dupri and Sean “Diddy” Combs agreed to take part in a Verzuz event.

More speculation about the supposed musical faceoff began circulating online in the last few days. A video of Diddy speaking with New York City-bred emcee Busta Rhymes ignited the latest conversation.

“September 8, in [Madison Square Garden] – me versus Jermaine,” Diddy told Busta Rhymes in the viral clip. The billionaire mogul also added, “We’re gonna have you out the rafters, flying out the sky.”

Those comments from Diddy sent social media into a frenzy with pundits, podcasters, and other people sharing their takes on the potential Verzuz matchup. However, Jermaine Dupri may have thrown cold water on the growing anticipation.

“I’m trying to see who smart [for real] like, [especially] at all these blogs,” posted Jermaine Dupri in an edited tweet. “You think something of this magnitude that means this much to culture will be announced on somebody else page? 🤔.”

A Verzuz featuring Jermaine Dupri and Sean “Diddy” Combs would likely be one of the most highly-publicized installments of the live event series. Both Dupri and Combs have built entertainment empires off the creation of respective 1990s-founded record labels.

Jermaine Dupri created So So Def Recordings in 1993. The Atlanta-based company helped establish the careers of acts such as Kris Kross, Xscape, Bow Wow, and Da Brat. Additionally, Dupri worked with superstars like Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Usher.

New York City’s Sean “Diddy” Combs (aka Puff Daddy) launched Bad Boy Records in 1993. Bad Boy served as the label home for The Notorious B.I.G., Faith Evans, Ma$e, The Lox, 112, French Montana, Machine Gun Kelly, and others. JD and Puff Daddy have released solo albums as well.

Previously, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s Verzuz produced hits-for-hits battles like DMX vs Snoop Dogg, Brandy vs Monica, Jeezy vs Gucci Mane, Ashanti vs Keyshia Cole, Bow Wow vs Soulja Boy, and The Lox vs Dipset. Earlier this year, Jermaine Dupri hinted that a Verzuz against Diddy would take place at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Chrisean Rock & Blueface, QC’s P Responds To Snitching Rumors & Soulja Boy’s Beefs

P from Quantity Control said he ain’t no snitch. The label boss talked to police in 2010 regarding a murder that he witnessed. Those that committed the murder did not know he was the one! But P is not even a street dude, he maintains, and never has been. He chided those that glorify “dumb sh!t” and said GT F OUTTA HERE with all that! He called it a “fraudulent incident report.” He said he’s never been a rat. I almost thought he was going the “I’m a law abiding citizen” route.

Check out this text thread about Chrisean Rock & Blueface:

She says this was all a part of the plan.

I thought she got her tooth fixed?
JEEZ!

Make it stop! Bruh said “You don’t want to be stuck with somebody like me” – WOW! Could you imagine having a kid with somebody that hates you so much? He’s telling her exactly what it is. They should be illegal.

I am not one to put too much time and energy into Chrisean rock and Blueface, but I guess I have to do it every so often. I am old enough to remember when Lisa “LeftEye” Lopes tried to burn down the house of Andre Rison, a football player at that time. That was a crazy situation that played itself out in the media. Here we are, 25 years later, and it is all playing out in the media once again.

Blueface put his Faux Bae on blast via social media because she apparently try to burn down his home. It did not result in any sort of disco inferno, but it did result in setting off the alarms in the home. This is crazy! A friend of mine, who is a psychiatrist recently talk to me about the troubling nature of the toxicity of their relationship. And he basically begged the media to stop covering their nonsense because it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. And here I am, clicks and viewing it up!

Anyway, I don’t know if that’s going to happen because there is an economic backdrop to all of this toxicity. And that backdrop is just money being generated from their behavior. Essentially, they are rewarded for acting bad. That is not to say that either of them is not in an abusive relationship, but it says simply that they are a toxic profit center.

Look at Soulja Boy dissing NBA Young Boy and Lil Durk for dropping albums at the same time as him.

Rihanna & A$AP Rocky Named Their Baby After A Member Of Wu-Tang!

After nearly a year of secrecy, the name of Rihanna’s baby son has been revealed exclusively by DailyMail.com through a copy of his certificate of birth.

The little boy’s name is RZA Athelston Mayers, a clear-cut nod to the genius producer, rapper and Wu-tang leader RZA.

Rihanna has worn clothing repping Wu-Tang Clan multiple times since giving birth, according to DM and has given us hints along the way. Fans previously speculated that the little boy might have been named Noah. They do not know RiRi like WeWe. LOL!

Lil RZA was given his father’s middle name of Athelston, which has also been listed as Rocky’s middle name in the past. The certificate also confirms that Lil RZA was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Rihanna’s level of fandom for the Wu-Tang Clan is not entirely clear, A$AP has collaborated with Raekwon. They could have called him lil illseed!

We should also note that Rocky is named after the great lyricist Rakim so the baby got that moniker honestly! Salute them! Lil RZA means he’s going to be the next generation of genius.

Wow!

We are still trying to figure this out. But this seems to be official!

Nicki Minaj Seeks Payback In Lawsuit But Blogger Denies Defamation Claims

Marley Green a.k.a. Nosey Heaux asked a judge to dismiss Nicki Minaj’s defamation lawsuit against the blogger.

According to Radar Online, Green responded to the lawsuit and denied any wrongdoing. The blogger claimed any damages suffered by Nicki Minaj were “the result of her own misconduct and action.”

“The complained-of-acts of these answering Defendants were justified and privileged under the circumstances, including but not limited to truth, fair comment and opinion,” Green contended.

Last year, Nicki Minaj sued Green after the blogger accused the rapper of using cocaine. The Republic Records artist asked for a minimum of $75,000 in damages.

“The Defendants herein have outrageously defamed [Nicki Minaj] by posting a video on their Twitter page in which Defendant Marley Green, who goes by the name of ‘Nosey Heaux,’ falsely and maliciously stated that [Nicki Minaj] is a ‘cokehead’ who is ‘shoving all this cocaine up her nose,’” attorney Judd Burstein argued. “Further, evidencing a fundamental lack of decency, Green has also posted vile comments about [Nicki Minaj’s] one year-old son. While these comments are not actionable, they nonetheless demonstrate why punitive damages should be awarded in this case.”

T.I. and Tiny Harris returned to court to battle toymaker MGA Entertainment over the company’s OMG Dolls.

According to Rolling Stone, opening statements in the couple’s new trial began on Wednesday (May 10). T.I. and Tiny’s case originally went to trial in January, but it resulted in a mistrial.

A judge declared a mistrial after jurors heard from a customer who accused MGA of cultural appropriation. Judge James Selna refused to allow cultural appropriation claims to be used as evidence in the trial.

“Because of the incurably prejudicial cultural appropriation deposition testimony played to the jury by [T.I. and Tiny], this Court must declare a mistrial,” the judge wrote. “The previously excluded testimony was nothing less than a rant by the witness about how she ‘stopped purchasing’ the OMG Dolls ‘because [she] did not want to support a company that steals from African Americans and their ideas and profit off it and don’t give African Americans the profit.’”

T.I. and Tiny sued MGA for stealing the name and likeness of their OMG Girlz group. Tiny created the pop group in 2009. MGA released its OMG Dolls in 2019.

Earlier this year, Tiny said she was “fighting for what’s right” regarding her lawsuit. MGA denied any wrongdoing.
