Future disclosed the title and cover art for his next album on Monday (April 25).
The Epic Records artist announced his ninth studio album will be called I Never Liked You. The LP is scheduled to drop on Friday (April 29).
Future’s upcoming album will include collaborations with Babyface Ray, FKA Twigs and Kanye West, among others. The diamond-selling rapper said the project displays his vulnerability in an interview with GQ.
“I’m putting myself out there,” he told GQ. “Sharing my lifestyle with the world. Sharing my pain with the world.”
Future continued, “Sharing my ups, sharing my downs with the entire universe. I believe in the energy of the universe and manifestation. That’s why I’m giving myself, because I’m willing to correct myself. I don’t want to just…be wrong. I’m willing to give you all of me, so you can tell me how to build on me, and make me a better me. I always found a way to create around everything, man. I turn pain into diamonds. I do that with my eyes closed.”
I Never Liked You will be Future’s first solo album since 2020’s High Off Life.

Elon Musk bought Twitter for approximately $44 billion, raising questions about the future of the social media platform.
Black Twitter users were among the many people wondering how the deal will affect their online experience. Elon Musk’s purchase makes Twitter a privately held company, which creates a shift in the dynamics of one of social media’s biggest platforms.
“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Elon Musk said in a press release. “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans.”
He added, “Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”
Elon Musk’s takeover made some Black Twitter users consider leaving the platform with hopes that an alternative would emerge. Others hoped the billionaire wouldn’t enact any drastic changes.
One thing is certain: Twitter stockholders are cashing out in the deal. Its shareholders will be receiving $54.20 for each share of common stock.
“The Twitter Board conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon’s proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing,” Twitter’s Independent Board Chair Bret Taylor said. “The proposed transaction will deliver a substantial cash premium, and we believe it is the best path forward for Twitter’s stockholders.”
Amid all of the uncertainty, Black Twitter still had plenty of jokes and hot takes about Elon Musk’s social media maneuvering. Like any big news story, the mix of commentary and memes was on full display.
Check out some of the reactions to Elon Musk buying Twitter below.
Kylie Jenner testified about Blac Chyna’s alleged violence in a civil trial involving the Kardashians.
According to TMZ, Kylie Jenner said Tyga once told her Blac Chyna attacked him with a knife. The slashing allegedly left Tyga with a six-inch scar on his arm.
Tyga also informed the socialite about Blac Chyna’s drug and alcohol abuse, which led to the knife attack. Kylie Jenner relayed the info to her brother Rob Kardashian when he was dating Blac Chyna.
“I felt it was my duty to express my concerns, but ultimately it was up to him,” she reportedly explained in court.
Blac Chyna is suing the Kardashians for $100 million over the cancellation of her reality show Rob & Chyna. The TV series aired for one season in 2016.
She’s accused Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner of defamation, claiming they plotted to get her show canceled. The Kardashian family’s lawyer Michael G. Rhodes argued the E! Network simply canned the show because Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashians’ relationship ended.
Last week, Kris Jenner revealed Tyga’s allegations about Blac Chyna during her own testimony in the civil case. The matriarch of the Kardashian family also accused Blac Chyna of threatening to kill Kylie Jenner in the past.
Production has been completed on a new documentary about Gucci Mane and his old group S.Y.S.
Filmmakers announced a two-part documentary titled Southumentary, which looks back at the beginning of Gucci Mane’s career. The film utilizes two decades of never-before-seen footage to tell the story of S.Y.S. a.k.a. Sign Ya Self.
Producers describe Southumentary as “an intimate and revealing portrait of rap star Gucci Mane’s formative days with S.Y.S. and their quest for fame and fortune in the competitive music industry as they hustled in the rough streets of Eastside Atlanta, Georgia during the early 2000s.” Emmy-winning cinematographer Ben Mesker shot interviews for the documentary.
“This film contains the humble beginnings of one of the biggest entertainers in the world,” the documentary’s producer Raymond Forchion said in a press release. “We are excited to bring this entertaining and passionate piece of underground Hip Hop story with tons of unseen footage and unheard music to the world.”
Atlanta’s H.B. and Mojo formed Sign Ya Self Records in 2002. The S.Y.S. group included Gucci Mane, 4Tre, Bolo, Cold Blooded Da Don and honorary member South Boy, who directed the upcoming documentary.
Southumentary does not have a release date. A platform for the film hasn’t been determined.
One day prior to every smoker’s favorite holiday, 4/20, AB took over Lemonnade Van Nuys to host an exclusive listening party for his debut album Paradigm and to celebrate the release of his new strain AB Biscotti (in partnership with JUUG).
Anyone who has been to Lemonnade knows this is not a regular dispensary. Created by hip-hop mogul Steve Lobel, the space serves as a one-stop-shop: a full-service dispensary, a hip-hop museum with endless memorabilia, a grow facility you can see threw the windows, and even a private studio for artists to record in privacy.
With DJ Carisma on the turntables, Antonio Brown drew an influx of fans who were able to get photos, bobbleheads, jerseys, football helmets, CDs, and pictures signed.
Steve Lobel said, “To have a football player that wasn’t scared to come to a dispensary, had his own strain and publicly publicized it and promoted it, was great. He’s gonna go back to the NFL, and he’s had a great career, he’s a great rapper. A lot of athletes try to rap, and they’re not great at rapping. Like Damian Lillard is a great athlete and a great rapper. AB had his album come out that day, we rushed to make CDs which was a great idea.”
He added, “It’s never been done before where someone has an album release and a strain drop on the same day at a dispensary, right?”
Celebrity activations are nothing new at Lemonnade Van Nuys, where everyone from Dave East, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Krayzie Bone, OhGeesy, and India Love hosted their events.
In an early morning act of kindness, rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine filmed himself giving away $20,00 to a Latino family selling flowers on the side of the road.
The artist says he was going to waste the money the night before at the club, but while on his way to the airport decided to be a blessing.
He posted it on his social media to show the world his generosity. The video, posted on Sunday morning around 5:00 a.m., shows him on his way to catch his flight.
6ix9ine captions the Instagram post, “I was going to spend 20,000 last night in the club but I didn’t get to do so, but I spent it on something better LET’S GET BACK TO IT.”

Mick Jagger has named Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly as two new rockers keeping the genre alive.
In an interview with Swedish radio station P4, the Rolling Stones frontman said he had hope for contemporary rock as the two stars are breathing new life into the genre.
“In rock music you need energy, and there have not been a lot of new rock singers around. Now there are a few,” Mick Jagger explained. “You have Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly. That kind of post-punk vibe makes me think there is still a bit of life in rock and roll.”
Mick Jagger also dismissed rumors that his forthcoming tour with the Rolling Stones would be his last.
“I am not planning it to be the last tour. I love being on tour. I don’t think I would do it if I did not enjoy it,” he said. “I enjoy going out there on stage and doing my stuff. That is what I do. I want everyone to enjoy themselves and forget the troubles in their lives for a couple of hours and just chill out and have a great afternoon and evening.”
The band’s Sixty tour is scheduled to take place in Europe across June and July.
Jack Harlow is one of the biggest and brightest names in Hip-Hop. But it wasn’t always the case! At some point he was a young upstart and fan of the culture and then grew into it.
That said, a lot of people have some jokes for him today. Because of the Twitter algorithm, I thought it was something that was real. Because a picture with Lil Kim and a little boy is pretty cool, right? And then I saw the picture, in my periphery. And then, I paid attention.
At first glance it looks like it could be just a kid with Lil Kim as a youngster, but on further analysis it looks like a girl. The funny thing is, it could be Jack Harlow because most of us had goofy young pictures when we were kids. But that ain’t DJ Drama’s artist!
And then the comments come. And they are hilarious.
Lil Jay just got out of jail a few days ago literally and he’s already shaking things up! Some of that is related to his shade of Lil Von and his denial of being gay (a rumor I did not bother to cover). But he’s back with the bars! Chiraq Wolverine drops “Bars of Clout 3,” which is in the lineage of his original one. The CloutLord is back! The game was meant to be shaken up!
Broward County artist $windlaaareturns to set the groove in his new single, “Money“, featuring Baton Rouge nativeLit Yoshi.
Lit Yoshi loved the hook and jumped on the song immediately. Unfortunately, he was arrested the very next day and was unavailable to shoot the video. Nevertheless, $windlaaa acknowledges Yoshi in the video with a set in orange jumpsuits and dancers repping Free Lit Yoshi T- Shirts.
“Money” is subtly melodic with a catchy dance hook. The ShotByJolo-directed video sees $windlaaa boogieing with dancers in the background. “Money” is the latest glimpse from $windlaaa’s upcoming project, “Late Night Thoughts” which features Trapland Pat and FL Dusa and more in addition to Lit Yoshi.
In a recent phone call with Lit Yoshi, the rapper stated. “Thank you for the support. I am innocent, Tune into “Money,” and I’ll be coming home soon.”
At one point, DJ Akademiks, Joe Budden, and Nadeska Alexis led the most-talked-about Hip Hop show on the planet. Clips from Everday Struggle – like infamous interviews with Vic Mensa and Migos – regularly went viral on social media.
After some reshuffling of the co-hosts on his own self-titled podcast, Joe Budden continued to discuss Hip Hop culture on a bi-weekly schedule. In addition, Akademiks went on to launch the Off The Record podcast.
It appears former co-workers DJ Akademiks and Joe Budden recently got back together to create new content. On Sunday, Ak tweeted, “Reunited @JoeBudden 🥰🥰🥰. Tune into our both podcasts in the next week or so 🦂🦂🦂.”
A brief video snippet also accompanied Akademiks’s weekend Twitter post. The footage featured the online media personality and retired emcee Joe Budden talking face-to-face with several red cups placed on a table.
Both DJ Akademiks and Joe Budden have become somewhat controversial figures in contemporary Hip Hop. The two outspoken commentators’ respective hot takes about the culture are often met with passionate support and fervent opposition.
The Joe Budden Podcast launched in 2015 with Budden, Marisa Mendez, and Rory Farrell. Mendez left in 2016. Jamil “Mal” Clay later joined the show. Both Rory and Mal parted ways with JBP last year before being replaced by Ice and Ish.
DJ Akademiks’s Off The Record began streaming on Spotify in 2021. The digital series recently presented interviews with NLE Choppa, Nardo Wick, 2 Chainz, Roddy Ricch, Fivio Foreign, Flo Milli, Latto, 6ix9ine, Bobby Shmurda, and more.
During an interview with VladTV, Calboy discussed his managerial relationship with Meek Mill. The 23-year-old Chicago native offered his side of the story which included comments about his “Chariot” single featuring Meek Mill, Lil Durk, and Young Thug.
“I feel like the whole ‘Chariot’ video situation, all like, ‘We do this, we do that.’ Mind you, ‘Chariot’ is almost [my] second-biggest record after ‘Envy Me’ – debatable. But that’s one of them joints,” said Calboy.
He continued, “At that time, that was my momentum, that was my follow-up. And I appreciated Meek for that. I appreciated Thug. I just texted Thug like three days ago. I just chopped it up with Thug, and I just chopped it up with Durk. I appreciated all that.”
According to Calboy, “Chariot” did not receive the marketing push he expected. The Wildboy EP creator claimed Meek Mill was not on board with his portrayal in the song’s music video because it would supposedly tarnish the Philadelphia-raised rap star’s brand in some way.
“In the label’s view, it’s like, ‘Yo, your manager’s not gonna play? They’re slowing your momentum down?’ And they really stood on that, and I blamed [Meek Mill] for that. So I fired them,” recalled Calboy.
The 2020 XXL Freshman added, “I was like, ‘Let’s reshoot it, let’s do this, let’s do that.’ But it was always, ‘I’m busy. I’m gonna get up with it, I’m gonna figure it out.’ By that time, the momentum of that song was down, like it ain’t even gonna hit them with the bang no more.”
“Chariot” did manage to earn Gold certification from the RIAA in September 2020. Calboy’s breakout single “Envy Me” is currently certified 4x-Platinum. “Envy Me” climbed to #31 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. 2019’s Wildboy project peaked at #30 on the Billboard 200 and reached Gold status in April 2020.
With all the buzz surrounding “Sorry Not Sorry,” it comes as no surprise that companies wanted to ink deals with Omeretta. Sparta Distribution, the independent digital distribution arm of 300 Entertainment, signed the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta alumna.
“The teams at Sparta Distribution and 300 Entertainment and, of course, Kevin Liles know the culture better than anybody,” says Omeretta The Great. “They are the perfect partners for me, and I’m excited to begin this next chapter together. I can’t wait for you to hear what we’ve got coming.”
“Sorry Not Sorry” and “Ba Ba” will serve as the lead singles for Omeretta The Great’s upcoming debut EP. That project will be released via TSO Music Group/Sparta Distribution.
“Sparta is extremely excited and incredibly proud to announce our debut signee, Atlanta’s own Omeretta The Great,” offers Amir Abbassy, Head of Sparta Distribution.
Abbassy adds, “Omeretta is bold, unapologetic, and immensely talented. Her quick-wit and entrepreneurial spirit make her the archetype for the artists Sparta was designed to champion.”
Omeretta’s managers Max Gousse and Monica Payne of Artistry Group, state, “We felt Sparta was the best partner as they were aggressive about building on the recent momentum and believed in the vision.”
Raised in Atlanta’s Zone 3 District, Omeretta The Great began rapping as a pre-teen. She names Lil Wayne, Rihanna, and Rico Nasty as some of her musical influences. OTG previously released Black Magic: A Dose of Reality in 2016 and Welcome to the Jungle in 2019.
Virginia-bred rapper Pusha T dropped off his fourth studio LP, It’s Almost Dry, on Friday, April 22. According to industry insiders, Pusha is on pace to possibly score his first #1 album on the Billboard 200 rankings
HitsDailyDouble projects It’s Almost Dry to collect 50,000-55,000 first-week units. That total could be enough to hold off Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album for the Billboard 200’s pole position.
If It’s Almost Dry is able to top the Billboard 200, the project would be Pusha T’s first Number One on that chart. My Name Is My Name peaked at #4 in 2013 with 74,000 copies sold in its opening week.
2015’s King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude topped off at #20. The Grammy-nominated Daytona managed to give Pusha T his highest solo chart entry to date. Daytona debuted at #3 in 2018 with 77,000 units.
King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude also spent one week at #1 on the Top Rap Albums chart. My Name Is My Name and Daytona only made it to #2 on that Billboard weekly tally. It’s Almost Dry will likely be the #1 rap album next week.
It’s Almost Dry features guest appearances by Kanye West, Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Nigo, Malice, Lil Uzi Vert, Kid Cudi, Don Toliver, and Labrinth. Superproducers Pharrell Williams and Kanye West provided most of the album’s production.
Call Me If You Get Lost is once again the top-selling album in America by jumping from #120 to #1. Tyler, The Creator’s sixth studio LP originally led the Billboard 200 for one week in 2021.
The project climbed back to No. 1 this week. Call Me If You Get Lost collected an additional 59,000 units in the tracking period ending April 21. 51,000 units came from traditional album sales, mostly vinyl.
In fact, Call Me If You Get Lost‘s 49,500 vinyl sales are said to be the largest sales week for a Hip Hop vinyl album since Luminate (formerly MRC Data) began tracking music sales in 1991. This also marks the ninth-largest sales week for a vinyl album since that year.
Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon III: The Chosen previously held the Hip Hop vinyl record. Last December, the 2020 release sold 41,500 vinyl copies in one week. Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version) holds the all-time record with 114,000 vinyl units sold in November 2021.
Tyler, The Creator won his second Best Rap Album trophy at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in April. The Odd Future founder previously took home the same honor for 2019’s IGOR. In addition to winning the Grammy, Call Me If You Get Lost is also certified Gold by the RIAA.
While Call Me If You Get Lost tops the latest Billboard 200, the most recent album rankings also feature other high-profile Hip Hop acts. Lil Durk’s 7220 slipped two spots to #3. Drake’s Certified Lover Boy remained at #6.
Doja Cat’s Planet Her continues to remain in the Billboard 200’s Top 10 region. That project climbed one spot to #7. Gunna’s DS4Ever went up three positions to #9. Lil Baby’s 2020 album, My Turn, rose three slots to #10.
Chopper, one of the former stars of MTV’s Making The Band was arrested in an undercover sex-trafficking sting and is now facing pimping charges.
According to TMZ, Chopper is being extradited to Las Vegas to face sex trafficking charges after being arrested in Maryland earlier this month.
Detectives from Nevada’s vice squad say Chopper’s social media displayed evidence of a potential sex-trafficking operation, prompting them to launch an investigation. Cops searched his Instagram account and found posts referring pimping and prostitution. They reference one image of Chopper on a plane with the caption “Sending em,” alongside a money bag and crown emoji.
Cops Contacted Chopper On Instagram
They claim legal docs show he was busted after being contacted by an undercover vice detective who posed as a Sin City sex worker. The Nevada cop privately messaged the rapper on Instagram, offering him the chance to make some money through prostitution.
The undercover cop states Chopper bragged to police during phone calls. He spoke of frequently traveling across the country, where he has seven homes, including one in Vegas. The former TV star also warned the detective that Sin City was no longer a safe place to operate due to law enforcement crackdowns.
Nonetheless, the cops claim after passing a phone interview Chopper told them he would bring them on his “team” and make them part of his “stable.”
They claim Chopper then switched his attitude, becoming aggressive during phone conversations. He began to boss them about, directing them to pack and fly to Charlotte, N.C. to join his “stable.”
However, cops say they stalled Chopper telling him they were scared to leave, but he got angry. After attempting to force them to meet him, he demanded a $2,000 fee.
Nevada police claim to have enough evidence to arrest and charge Chopper with felony sex trafficking.
Benzino blasted 50 Cent in a Twitter rant at the weekend, accusing the rapper of trying to lure his daughter away from him with the promise of a role on one of his shows. He also claimed that the G Unit boss is being sued for using the BMF trademark without consent.
Now, 50 Cent is attempting to capitalize on Benzino’s strained relationship with his daughter Coi Leray. “Now would be a good time to stop hating on @coileray, Fiddy penned on Instagram. “I’m gonna make her show up on your Tv😆🛑STOP worrying about a first week WORK. GLG🚦GreenLightGang #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi”
Meanwhile, Benzino – who recently gave 50 Cent the moniker “59” labeling him “the first Hip Hop rat,” in reference to notorious snitch 6ix9ine – claimed that 50 Cent is being sued.
Benzino Claims 50 is Hiding A Lawsuit
“Hey RATMAN aka 59,” he wrote in response to Fiddy’s post. “I appreciate u putting my Coi on but does she know you and STARS ain’t been seeing eye to eye lately. Well I just got my hands on a federal lawsuit saying that the “BMF” trademark isn’t yours & knew about it & never told Meech or STARS. Big mistake you dummy.”
He continued, “You crossed a line with my kid but that’s ok, she’ll have to live with the decision she made to go against her father to deal with the opps.” He added that his daughter’s obvious “disloyalty” will lead to “her downfall.”
Benzino also asserted that “I never ever hated on my own daughter,” claiming it was in fact the reverse. He says Coi “dissed me in a song, calls me broke in every interview I’ve done, all I’ve done was correct the lies on me. Y’all can run with that bs narrative, idgaf, I’ve never tried to play with someone’s kid like he did.”
However, Benzino declared they are “at war,” and he’s not going to tolerate 50’s attempts to turn his daughter against him. However, he then took aim at Coi LeRay’s fans for not supporting her and accused them of jealousy.
“What really gets me is ALL this love and support for Coi but none of y’all bought the album,” he ranted. “Y’all are fake asf, all this “I love her” “she’s grown on me” “I wanna see her win” is all BS! All y’all wanna do is comment for likes and attention. GO BUY HER ALBUM! You f##### weirdos.”
