Last night, Doja Cat and SZA won Best Pop Duo/Performance at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. This was the first Grammy win for both “Kiss Me More” collaborations.

Doja Cat and SZA were able to give an acceptance speech at the televised ceremony. While talking to the audience inside Las Vegas’s MGM Grand Garden Arena, Doja began crying as she reflected on the accomplishment of winning a Grammy.

“I like to downplay a lot of s###, but this is a big deal,” said Doja Cat through tears after receiving her golden gramophone. “Damn… thank you, everybody. Be safe.”

Doja Cat recently informed her fans that she is ready to retire from making music. That shocking announcement was met with some disbelief, but the 26-year-old rapper/singer doubled down on walking away from the record business soon.

It has been a rollercoaster ride during Doja Cat’s rise to the top. She found breakout success with the meme-song “Mooo!” and the chart-topping “Say So.” The Planet Her album creator also caught heat for allegedly embracing a white supremacist agenda.

Memphis native NLE Choppa made a bold declaration in one of his recent songs. “Yak Flow” features the 19-year-old rapper claiming to be the successor to YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s success.

“The hottest youngin since YB, the hottest out my city,” raps NLE Choppa on “Yak Flow.” 22-year-old YoungBoy Never Broke Again also began his career in music as a teenager.

An official video for NLE Choppa’s “Yak Flow” arrived on April 1. The visuals began trending in YouTube’s music section and amassed close to 1 million views in its first three days on the platform.

Apparently, NLE Choppa received some online pushback for placing his name next to NBA YoungBoy. Choppa addressed the negative reactions on Twitter.

Digga D continues to pay homage to 50 Cent, this time teasing a video based on one of the New York rapper’s#### songs. 

The North London drill rapper took to Instagram to share a series of images from the video featuring his on-off girlfriend, model Tennessee Thresher. The scenes are similar to 50 Cent’s “21 Questions” video featuring Fiddy and his on-screen boo, Megan Good.

Versions of a Digga D “21 Questions” remake titled “Hold It Down” have circulated in recent months. The rising U.K. rap star has already released the 50 Cent-inspired “Pump 101,” dropping a video to accompany the song. “If 50 done like a ‘Power type thing in the U.K., that would be crazy,” he declared during a recent interview. “That there would make Americans look at the U.K. differently. I don’t think they really know what’s going on. It would be nice to give you insight of what’s really going on,” he added.  

However, Digga D is open to a cameo in any 50 Cent U.K. production, saying he “definitely,” needs to get into his acting bag. “I’ll drink to that,” he said, speaking it into existence.

Most Saturday Night Live viewers probably saw a certain skit coming. The late-night sketch comedy series made fun of Will Smith smacking Chris Rock at last week’s Oscars ceremony.

Jerrod Carmichael, the latest SNL host, played a “seat filler” at the Academy Awards for Saturday’s episode of SNL. The nearly four-minute skit also featured fellow comedian Chris Redd as Will Smith.

Saturday Night Live uploaded the sketch to the program’s YouTube channel. As of press time, the clip has over 3.6 million views and continues to be one of the top 5 trending videos on the platform.

The real Will Smith shocked the world when he physically assaulted Chris Rock on stage after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith being bald from alopecia. That viral Oscar moment generated over a week’s worth of headlines around the world.

Will Smith eventually apologized to Rock and resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Fallout from the incident includes motion picture studios reportedly halted production of upcoming Smith-led projects.

Consequence Talks About The Issues With Kanye West & His New Music

Consequence revealed his new LP, titled Nice Doing Business With You, includes an “all-star line-up” on the production and features. He also teased fans announcing his “big first single” called “Bloodstain,” produced by none other than Kanye West himself.  

Consequence discussed his appearance in the recently released Kanye West Netflix documentary, Jeen-Yuhs. He talked about his experiences working with the superstar rapper and shared his insight into what the film left out. Elsewhere during the discussion, Con gets into the struggles of co-parenting. He talks his relationship with “stellar father” Ye and “great mother” Kim Kardashian, who both embraced his own children.  

Fans of the rapper can expect a short wait for the upcoming project. “I’m looking forward to people being able to ride out for the spring and the summer,” he said. Consequence is offering a “cohesive” body of work with “no skips” that listeners can “pick apart” or “listen from beginning to end.” During the interview, he explained how he benefited from involvement in “all kinds of album construction,” working with Tribe Called Quest and Kanye at G.O.O.D. Music. 

Consequence also handled production on some of the album and discussed collecting “footnotes and lessons” during his time in the game.

Cardi B Deactivates Her Twitter & Instagram Accounts After Clashing With Fans

Cardi B has deactivated her social media accounts after tearing into fans who went after her kids in response to the rapper not attending the Grammys.  

After warning her followers she would delete her Twitter account, Cardi then jumped on Instagram Live to explain her gripes before also shutting down that account.  

“I’m deleting my Twitter On God I hate this f##### d###### fan base,” she wrote before deactivating her account. “You got the slow d######## dragging my kids all cause y’all [thought] I was going to the Grammys and I didn’t the f###?” Cardi B chose not to attend the 4th Grammy Awards despite being nominated for Best Rap Performance. 

“When did I hype y’all up? Where and when did I ever [give] hints? Like are you okay,” Cardi asked her detractors. “I’m not going to [an] award show if I don’t got a new song to perform Or my album ain’t out.”  

Other criticisms came from fans waiting for Cardi B to drop a new album to follow up on her 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy. However, her harsh unfiltered responses were condemned by some fans.  

“I bet yo son wouldnt like for you to be on your ass while teasing us fans and not ever dropping music,” one user wrote. “I hope your moms die,” Cardi B replied. She also told one disgruntled fan to “drink acid” and instructed another to “suck my dick.” 

Cardi B also angered autism campaigners after one Twitter user claimed the rapper has an autistic child. “@iamcardib do you kiss your @utistic child with that mouth?” the troll tweeted. “None of my kids are autistic…don’t project wat u got on my kids the f–k,” she replied.

The “W.A.P.” rapper later explained why she got “irritated” during an Instagram Live session.

Questlove Wins Grammy For ‘Summer of Soul’ & Jokes About His Oscar Win

Questlove continues to add to his trophy cabinet this awards season, collecting the Grammy award at the ceremony in Las Vegas on Sunday night (Apr. 3). 

The musician won for his documentary Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised). 

“What a journey for this film since Sundance all the way until … last week,” he began in his acceptance speech before pausing to laugh. He continued giving thanks to the artists who appeared in the film, highlighting the little-known 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.  

Questlove also won the Best Documentary Oscar last Sunday, although his win was largely overshadowed by the moments leading up to it. Just before host Chris Rock announced him as the winner, he made a now-infamous joke about Jada Pinkett Smith appearing in a “G.I. Jane” sequel. However, her husband, Will Smith did not see the humor in Rock’s jibe, having witnessed his wife battle with alopecia. He strode up on stage and promptly slapped the comedian before returning to his seat with a warning that his wife is off-limits.  

Questlove Celebrates His Winning Week

Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson took to Twitter to celebrate his win and an amazing seven days. He replied to actor LaVar Burton who tweeted: “My brother, @questlove just won an @Grammy for, #SummerofSoul for which he won an Oscar last Sunday. Who’s having a better week than him…? (hint) Nobody!” Questlove responded, “What a life,” moments after collecting his latest trophy.  

Later in the evening, Questlove returned to the stage inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas to present one of the biggest awards of the night. However, before announcing the Song of the Year winner, Questlove took a moment to address his Oscars experience.

Silk Sonic Celebrate “Clean Sweep” Winning 4 Grammys Including Record of the Year

Silk Sonic won four Grammys a little over a year after making their live debut at the awards show in March 2021. 

The duo – Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak – won Record of the Year for their song “Leave the Door Open” at the Grammys on Sunday night (Apr. 3), beating off competition from ABBA, Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and SZA, Jon Batiste, Billie Eilish, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, Brandi Carlile, and Lil Nas X.  

In addition, they collected the awards for Song of the Year and Best R&B Song for the hit single. Silk Sonic also tied for Best R&B performance with Jazmine Sullivan.  

Silk Sonic Attempt To Stay Humble

Mars and .Paak proved as smooth as their songwriting abilities, sashaying to the stage to collect their win for Record of the Year. “We are really trying our hardest to remain humble at this point,” said. Paak. “But in the industry, we call that a clean sweep,” he continued, referring to the fact they won every Grammy they were nominated for. “Drinks is on Sink Sonic tonight,” he added after paying tribute to all the other nominees.

Silk Sonic opened the awards show with a casino-themed performance, delivering an electrifying medley. The pair wore outfits decked in playing card motifs in keeping with the new Las Vegas setting. Will Smith Discussed Oscars Slap With Academy Before Critical Board Meeting And Resignation

Will Smith reportedly spoke with Academy leaders on Tuesday about having slapped Chris Rock.

The Best Actor winner slapped Oscars presenter Chris Rock during the Academy Awards live telecast on Sunday night in response to a joke made about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

The Academy of Arts and Sciences, which runs the Oscars, held an emergency meeting with its Board of Governors on Wednesday to discuss the consequences for Smith.

Variety reports that Academy president David Rubin and chief executive officer Dawn Hudson spoke to Smith on Tuesday over Zoom about the incident, though they did not mention it in the meeting.

Insiders told the outlet that the video call lasted around 30 minutes, and in it, Smith apologised again to Rubin and Hudson, trying to explain his actions.

He said he snapped because the joke referred to his wife’s hair loss condition, alopecia. The outcome of the call is unknown.

Smith posted an apology on Instagram on Monday in which he admitted he “deeply regret(s)” his “unacceptable and inexcusable” behaviour at the Oscars.

Representatives for the Academy are to conduct a formal review of the incident. As AllHipHop previously reported, Will Smith has resigned from The Academy.

Blac Chyna is “refocusing” her arguments in an upcoming legal battle against Kris Jenner and three of her daughters.

In allegations dating back to 2017, the model claimed her E! reality TV series, Rob & Chyna, was cancelled after Kris made a false assault allegation against her.

In a lawsuit, Chyna – real name Angela White – is suing Kris and her daughters Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner for defamation and intentional interference with a contract.

Representatives for the TV personalities have denied the allegations.

Latto has described working with Mariah Carey as a dream come true.

The rapper, who released her hit single “Big Energy” last September, dropped a remix featuring Mariah and DJ Khaled last month.

The new version of “Big Energy” interpolates Mariah’s 1995 tune “Fantasy,” and in an interview with Variety, Latto gushed over the experience.

“She’s such an uplifting spirit,” the star, real name Alyssa Stephens, told the outlet. “I’m grateful for the remix and for her vocals – Mariah’s a legend – but I’m grateful for the experience that she gave me with this song and all the words of advice.”

A 26-year-old man named Kealon Dejuane Gilmore was found with a fatal gunshot room to the head near a stage, and three juveniles were among the injured.

One of the teenagers has been listed in critical condition, well the other victims are listed in stable condition at local hospitals.

Witnesses told police that a fight broke out during the evening, and gunshots were fired shortly after the dispute.

According to witnesses, one person shot into the air attempting to break up the brawl, and someone else allegedly fired into the crowd of people.

“Last night’s violence was horrific and unacceptable. I am praying for the victims, and I look forward to our police department bringing those responsible to justice,” Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson told WFAA in a statement. “Public safety remains our top priority, and I will be conferring with Police Chief Eddie Garcia to see what more can be done to stop this kind of violence in our city.”

The police are investigating Gilmore’s death as a homicide.

On social media, Florida rapper Rod Wave announced that he would be giving away $25,000 worth of free gas to residents of St. Petersburg, his hometown, next week.

Rod Wave shared a video with him in disbelief about how high gas prices are.

“St. Pete, 727, I’m giving away free gas April 9th at the Sunoco on 34th right before you get on the bridge,” the rapper said in the clip. “April 9th, I’m giving away $25,000 in free gas. So April 9th, 12 o’clock, pull up and get you some free gas, get you a free full tank.”

According to Tampa Bay Times, a spokesperson from the local police force said they will have extra traffic officers on duty in anticipation of big crowds.

St. Petersburg police spokesman Ken Knight said, “We will be there as long as the event is going on. It is probably going to be quite a crowd.”

The Lakewood High School alum has been experiencing quite a bit of success over the last year.

In 2021, he bested Justin Bieber’s Justice with his SoulFly project as the No. 1 album in the country on the Billboard charts.

Over the last few months, gas prices are skyrocketing. According to Protocol, the prices are over $4 per gallon in most places (and in some places in California are $7 per gallon) and are over 70% higher than they were a year ago.

This spike has geopolitical connotations, which are connected to the U.S. banned imports of Russian oil, liquefied natural gas, and coal on March 8th as sanctions for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Since the conflict doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon, Rod Wave’s act of kindness is sure to make a difference to regular folk.

Will Smith Drama Continues As “Bad Boys 4” With Martin Lawrence Postponed Indefinitely

Will Smith fans can forget about seeing him reunited with fellow comedian Martin Lawrence anytime soon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, pre-production on their highly anticipated flick “Bad Boys 4” has been halted indefinitely.

Will Smith had received 40 pages of the script for “Bad Boys 4” prior to the Oscars, and production on the movie was moving forward, but will now be paused after the actor smacked Chris Rock in the face during the Oscars last Sunday (March 27th).

The movie is one of several projects that Will has lined up with Netflix and Sony, and both companies have shelved their projects with the veteran actor.

Will’s other movie “Fast and Loose,” has also been paused, and Apple has yet to announce the release date for his highly anticipated movie “Emancipation,” which is in post-production.

However, the pause on producing “Bad Boys 4” is a big deal. The first flick, “Bad Boys,” took in over $141 million worldwide at the box office when it was released in 1995.

The sequel, “Bad Boys II,” nearly doubled that amount, earning a whopping $242 million when released in July of 2003.

That movie’s follow-up,” Bad Boys For Life,” was a raging success, taking in almost $430 million in global ticket sales.

The news about the pause on “Bad Boys 4” comes as the fallout over his assault on Chris Rock at the Oscars last Sunday ( March 27th).

That is when the comedian lost his temper and stormed the stage after Chris Rock told an off-color wisecrack about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Will shocked millions of people after letting off the “slap hurt around the world” on Chris Rock’s face.

Will Smith gave a quirky, tearful, remorseful speech as he accepted the Oscar for Best Actor thanks to his stellar performance in “King Richard.” He apologized to everyone – except Chris Rock. Will Smith ultimately took his Instagram to apologize to Chris as the discussion over his actions grew.

According to reports, Will also met with Academy board members, and he wrote another apology letter and announced he would be resigning from the organization.

Sources claim the two men have yet to speak to each other after the wild incident, and Chris Rock acknowledged he was still “processing” the slap during his return to stand-up comedy on the first date of his “Ego Death” tour.
