Crafted in the heart of New Orleans, Jet Life THC Soda draws inspiration from Spitta’s favorite O.G. strains and the nostalgic flavors of grape lemonade. Melding together top-tier, hemp-derived THC extract with vegan ingredients and all-natural flavors, the soda boasts a tantalizing blend of grape sweetness, lemony zest and the subtle allure of terpenes, all encapsulated within each can’s mighty 50 mg THC punch.

“It’s been a wild ride working alongside the Jet Life crew,” Joe Gerrity, Crescent Canna’s CEO, beamed. “Elevating cannabis beverages to Curren$y’s celestial standards is the ultimate honor for Crescent Canna.”

In addition to Jet Life THC Soda, the Jet Life THC Collection also boasts Jet Life Grape Lemonade THC Gummies, each packing a potent 8 mg THC per piece.

Expanding his empire beyond the studio, Curren$y established Jet Life Recordings in 2011 and Jet Life Apparel in 2012, in partnership with his longtime confidant Mousa Hamdan, propelling the brand into the stratosphere with high-profile collaborations alongside the New Orleans Pelicans, Reebok, and NASCAR.

With this latest venture, both Crescent Canna and Jet Life are poised to soar to new heights, ready to take the world by storm.

“We’re thrilled about our alliance with Crescent Canna,” enthuses Mousa Hamdan, Jet Life’s co-founder and CEO. “We’re about to reach cruising altitude!”

Additionally, Spitta’s Jet Life partnership with popular New Orleans restaurants We Dat’s elevates his push into the food industry even further. And in a sense, he’s getting up there with Master P, whose entrepreneurial journey in the food industry has been nothing short of remarkable.

And now, Curren$y is taking the reins and doing the same for the generations beneath him. New Orleans, stand up!

O.J. Simpson’s Lawyer Says His Kids, Family Were NOT At His Death Bed

Contrary to reports that O.J. Simpson’s final moments were witnessed by his children, his lawyer claims none of them were present.

The latest details about the former NFL star’s death come a week after he passed away on April 10 following a battle with prostate cancer.

At the time, his family announced his death via a poignant statement on social media.

In an emotional interview with the Associated Press, Simpson’s attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, recently addressed his final moments.

He debunked the claims that his client had died surrounded by loved ones — which was shared by the family on X.

Their message alleged Simpson “succumbed to his battle with cancer” while “surrounded by his children and grandchildren.”

But according to LaVergne, the 76-year-old passed away in the presence of just a “close family member.”

But he stressed that it did not diminish Simpson’s children’s love for their father.

“You have to remember that they’ve shared O.J. with the world their entire lives,” LaVergne shared, adding: “At first, they shared good O.J. But still he was famous. And then, from 1994 on, they kind of had to share bad boy O.J. with the world. But at the end of the day, these children just lost a father.”

“Chuck Norris” Kicks Off Fight Between Troy Ave & Company Claiming To Own A Producer’s Name

While Chuck Norris might be known for kicking through walls and defeating legions single-handedly, even he might think twice before tangling in the courtroom shuffle that rapper Troy Ave finds himself in.

The jailed rapper is being sued by In The Struggle Productions LLC, a music and entertainment production company.

Producer CITO, the talented beatsmith who has crafted tracks for Cardi B, Dave East, and Lil Yachty, is at the heart of the lawsuit.

According to In The Struggle Productions, CITO, also known as Citoonthebeat, allegedly does not retain the rights to the music he produces or the trademark to his name.

In The Struggle Productions claims ownership and exclusive rights to the musical compositions and recordings created by CITO, laying the foundation for their legal challenge against Troy Ave, BSB Records, Inc., and Empire Distribution, Inc.

The lawsuit notably mentions Troy Ave’s song “Chuck Norris (Hoes & Gangstas),” which has reportedly amassed millions of streams and substantial revenue for the defendants, according to the complaint.

The track is featured on the album Free Troy Ave, while the single was released in 2016 with an accompanying video.

In The Struggle alleges this track contains copyrighted work used without authorization, an action they claim to have addressed through repeated notifications to the defendants, all of which were purportedly disregarded.

The dispute extends beyond copyright infringement to claims of unfair competition and misappropriation of labor and expenditures.

The lawsuit further accuses Troy Ave, Empire, and CITO of attempting to sidestep the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) by submitting false counter-notices.

They intended to challenge the DMCA takedown notices issued by In The Struggle, which the company claims clearly violated its rights.

In The Struggle is seeking various forms of relief, including damages for lost profits and unjust enrichment, a permanent injunction to prevent further infringement and a declaration that the defendants are liable for misrepresentation under the DMCA.

Meek Mill Reveals His EV Malfunctioned Causing A Crash That Knocked Him Out

Meek Mill narrowly escaped tragedy when his new electric truck malfunctioned dramatically on the first day he bought it.

Meek took to Twitter to show off the damage and highlight the severe safety concerns amid widespread recalls for similar vehicles.

While driving his newly acquired electric Humner vehicle, the Philadelphia-born rapper experienced a brake pedal detachment and realized that the airbags failed to deploy after a severe crash.

“First day I bought this car no airbags… brake pedal came off… with door open no safety effects… no laser sensor working… this knocked me out bad, I was in park and the car started pulling off! I had this car for 4hrs maximum,” Meek Mill recounted.

His ordeal accentuates the potential risks of new EVs flooding the market.

Meek was commenting on recent recalls from major manufacturers, including Tesla’s recall of the Cybertruck due to a faulty accelerator pedal.

Tesla issued a voluntary recall for 3,878 Cybertruck vehicles due to the accelerator pad dislodging, posing a heightened risk of collision.

The recall refers to the potential systemic issues within the rapidly growing EV industry.

“Tesla has always been safe for me I tried some new s### and it almost killed me the first day!” Meek added.

Despite the traumatic event, Meek Mill’s encounter did not lead to any long-term physical injuries.

However, Meek’s incident with the new EV trucks raises questions about the safety of newly introduced electric vehicles.

As consumers grow increasingly concerned about the environmental impacts of fossil fuels and turn to electric vehicles, incidents like Meek Mill’s demonstrate that there is a need for more strict safety measures and regulations in the burgeoning segment.

Chance The Rapper’s fans are convinced he has turned life’s lemons into lemonade amid the news of his divorce after the emergence of unreleased snippets.

It appears Chance The Rapper is readying a project possible titled Star Line Gallery and has been sharing work-in-progress demos of emotionally charged records that may live on the work. In the latest unleashed draft, Chance is seemingly addressing his split from Kirsten Corley-Bennett. As raps as if his life depended on it, Joey Bada$$ makes a supporting cameo and acts as a silent hypeman in the accompanying video clip.

As he continues, Chance shares his belief that things can still be patched up while delivering a bar loosely based on the viral video of his racy dancing at Carnival last year, which appeared to derail his relationship.

Drake Uses A.I. Tupac & Snoop Dogg Verses To Diss Kendrick Lamar On “Taylor Made Freestyle”

After officially adding “Push Ups” to DSPs on Friday (April 19), Drake fired off another diss record at Kendrick Lamar on Saturday morning. “Taylor Made Freestyle” arrived with some unexpected special guest vocals.

Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” features artificial intelligence-generated voices of West Coast legends Snoop Dogg and the late 2Pac. Compton-bred MC Kendrick Lamar, aka K. Dot, has cited Pac as one of his biggest musical influences.

“They told me the spirit of Makaveli is alive in the n#### under five-foot-five, so it’s gotta be you. I would beef the whole f###### game. It was me and Snoop Dogg, have my f###### shirt off in the House of Blues,” the fake 2Pac raps on “Taylor Made Freestyle.”

Artificial intelligence has become an unforeseen central part of the ongoing battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. TikTok personality Sy The Rapper released an A.I. version of a Kendrick Lamar diss track that fooled a lot of people on the internet.

Snoop Dogg Responds To Drake’s Latest Troll Move

So So Def label founder Jermaine Dupri expressed his issues with content creators/producers like Sy The Rapper using computer programs to make songs. Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” sparked mixed reactions on X.

For example, media figure Aaron Busby tweeted, “The s### Aubrey pulled is some s### I would have expected 6ix9ine to do.” Apple Music’s Karlie Hustle posted, “Dot has Drake using A.I. Death Row and Cole yanking music off streaming platforms. I think it’s clear who our King is.”

In contrast, Mimi The Music Blogger backed up Drake’s move by tweeting, “If Tupac had access to A.I. back in the day whilst beefing [with] Bad Boy, let me tell [you], he would use it.” The Joe Budden Podcast affiliate Emanny commented, “Drake playing the new age games while still showing he’s down to compete… gotta respect it!”

Snoop Dogg reacted to Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” on Instagram. The Doggystyle album creator sarcastically expressed confusion over his name becoming a trending topic. Snoop said, “They did what? When? How? Are you sure? Y’all have a good night.”

Dear Nas, Happy Anniversary “Illmatic”

Dear Nas,
Happy 30th Illmatic Anniversary. Friday (April 19) marks three decades since the release of your iconic album Illmatic. It really hit me today, as he and DJ Premier dropped a new song, the impact this album had on me back in 1994. I’m reminded of the timeless influence it continues to wield over Hip-Hop culture.

Hip-Hop has produced a seemingly endless number of albums, but Illmatic wasn’t just an album; the opus was a cultural phenomenon, watershed moment and movement. It was crafted with a mere 10 tracks (nine if you exclude the intro track ,”The Genesis”), but a stellar lineup of the best New York-based producers of the day. DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Q-Tip and L.E.S. crafted a new standard of excellence and Nas upped the bar on lyricism and storytelling in the ’90s, as the Golden Era rolled on.

Nas, you weren’t the “Second Coming of Rakim” as some dubbed you, but as the first “Nas.” You were a unique voice that we’d been waiting for ever since the most classic introduction on “Live At The BBQ.

Each track on Illmatic is a masterpiece, but “New York State of Mind” (produced by Preemo) is my absolute favorite song. You can almost smell that song, and for me, it was a mindset I would assume in my day to day. I had not even moved to New York yet, but “I never sleep, cause sleep is the cousin of death” became a mantra. (Oddly, Kool G Rap’s song “Streets of New York” was the biggest influence on this track.) But “New York State of Mind” embodied goals, ambitions and the rugged individualism many of us had. Nothing would stop me. And nothing would stop Nas either.

The album had numerous other songs that have resonated through the years. “Halftime,” “It Ain’t Hard to Tell,” “Life’s a B#### (featuring AZ),” “Memory Lane,” and “The World Is Yours” all have a special place in my heart. It’s fitting that on this 30th anniversary, you and DJ Premier have announced your long-awaited joint album. The anticipation is palpable and, after 18 long years, we are ready.

At 50, with more than three decades in the game, you continue to defy stereotypes and elevate the art form. Your recent 6-project run with Hit-Boy only reaffirms your status as one of the greatest to ever grace the mic. While in Los Angeles, we got to chat during Grammy Week. Make no mistake, I was at this event because I was told you would be there. When we talked, I did not try to tell you about AllHipHop’s moves or about our 25th year. I just gave you the flowers, told you you were our emcee of the year and thanked you over and over for continuing to represent with the enthusiasm you had 30 years ago.

Half Man – Half Amazing. How that must feel at this age and stage. For the record, AllHipHop has interviewed you several times through the years, but this just feels so different. As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Illmatic, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you Nas. Thank you for your unparalleled—seriously unmatched—contribution to Hip-Hop, timeless artistry and continuing to inspire us all.

Here’s to Illmatic, to three decades of greatness, and to you, Nas — the King of Queens, the poet laureate of Hip-Hop and an example for future generations.

With respect and admiration,

Kevin Gates Bashes Panhandler For Not Eating Sandwich He Gave Her

Kevin Gates regretted his act of kindness. The Atlantic Records rapper criticized a woman begging on the street after he gave her a sandwich. Gates was upset to see the panhandler continue seeking money from other drivers instead of eating the food.

“This kinda s### p### me the f### off,” he said on Instagram Stories. “I had got two sandwiches from Chick-fil-A. Now, I gave this lady one of my sandwiches, right? See what the name is on that b####. Yeah, God. That’s me … Anyway, long story short, I reach her this – my Chick-fil-A sandwich – out the window, right? This m############ b#### done put my Chick-fil-A sandwich in her book sack and put the sign back up there. Now, I thought you said you was hungry. You’ll work for food. You shoulda ate that b#### right there [if] you so f###### hungry. She put that b#### in her book sack and put the sign back up. I say, ‘You b####.’”

AllHipHop recently spoke with Gates about emotional intelligence and much more. The Baton Rouge-bred rapper discussed the importance of accountability in the interview.

“My ego was in the way,” he said. “I had a way of making anything that I was doing seemed like the right thing and I had a way of flipping it and even lying to myself. It was kind of narcissistic in nature until you really realize that everything that goes on in your life is your fault. I’m held responsible for the places that I place myself, and that’s self-accountability. When you don’t lie to yourself and you be honest with yourself and you do the necessary things to remove the distractions, it’s going to be difficult. We love to just procrastinate and distract ourselves with nothingness.”

50 Cent Sparks Tyler Perry Jokes With G-Unit Studios Launch In Louisiana

The launch of 50 Cent’s G-Unit Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana made Tyler Perry a trending topic on Friday (April 19). 50 Cent was called the “male Tyler Perry” in posts racking up millions of views on X (formerly known as Twitter).

50 Cent leased Shreveport’s city-owned Millennium Studios for 30 years with a 15-year option. The location officially became the home of his G-Unit Studios with non-scripted projects scheduled to start production at the facility in July.

Shreveport celebrated the studio’s launch by declaring Thursday (April 18) as Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson Day. The diamond-selling rapper vowed to make an impact in the city.

“Bringing G-Unit Studios to Shreveport is more than just a business decision,” he said at a press conference. “It’s a commitment to fostering talent, to creating opportunities and to investing in the community itself to build what I would need to be able to execute what I’ve got going on with G-Unit Studios. It’s gonna create a lot of jobs.”

He added, “Through the expansion of G-Unit in Shreveport, my aim is to embody the spirit of conscious capitalism to focus on creating jobs, stimulating commerce and contributing to the economic growth of this vibrant community. I envision [making] Shreveport a beacon of the entertainment industry.”

Perry was the butt of jokes on social media, but 50 Cent cited Atlanta’s Tyler Perry Studios as an example of what G-Unit Studios can do for Shreveport.

“You seen some of the good things Tyler Perry’s done in Atlanta,” 50 Cent said. “And you’ll see this mirror that to a degree.”

Shreveport leased Millennium Studios to 50 Cent for $2,400 annually. While it may seem like a paltry amount for the city on the surface, Shreveport will be saving $180,000 per year thanks to the deal.

Donald Trump Trial: Man Sets Himself On Fire Outside Courthouse

A shocking moment took place outside of the New York courthouse where Donald Trump’s hush money trial is being held on Friday (April 19). According to multiple reports, a man set himself on fire.

The man threw flyers into the air before reaching inside his backpack and lighting himself on fire. The incident happened across the street from the courthouse in an area marked off for demonstrators.

Disturbing footage of the incident surfaced online. The man was seen writhing in pain amid a massive flame. One person grabbed a fire extinguisher and rushed to the scene to put out the flames. A medic attempted to help the man.

The man was taken to a local hospital. He was reportedly in critical condition.

Jury selection for Trump’s hush money trial began in Manhattan on Monday (April 15). The 12-person jury and one alternate were chosen by the end of the day on Thursday (April 18). Five more alternate jurors were selected on Friday.

The hush money case is Trump’s first criminal case heading to trial. He pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records. Prosecutors accuse him of illegally categorizing reimbursements to his former lawyer Michael Cohen. Trump allegedly tried to cover up a $130,000 hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Daniels said she had an affair with Trump. He denied her allegations.

Trump claimed he would testify in his hush money trial. He is the first former U.S. president to face criminal charges.

“I’m testifying,” he said. “I tell the truth, I mean, all I can do is tell the truth. And the truth is that there is no case.”

Trump was indicted four times in 2023. He was also charged with election interference and mishandling of classified documents. Trump maintains his innocence.

Lil Mosey Is Fan Of Kanye West’s New Album: “They’re Putting A Lot Into That S###”

Lil Mosey fans have been waiting patiently for the day he returns with new music and now, he’s making up for lost time.

The Seattle native is best known for his viral smash “Blueberry Faygo,” which blew up over the pandemic thanks to TikTok. Soon, it took over radio airwaves all over the world, with the song’s official music video accumulating more than 328 million YouTube views and counting.

After a long hiatus and not being active on social media, due to a 2021 case where he was wrongfully accused of rape (and has since been acquitted of all charges), Lil Mosey returned with a single titled “Life Goes On.” The record was unlike his typically melodic trap bangers and this time saw Mosey explore the pop/alternative space. While the song spoke volumes to his current state of mind at the time, fans demanded Lil Mosey return to his roots.

Subsequently, Lil Mosey’s newest single, “Thug Popstar,” is on brand for his sound, style, swag and overall stature. Mosey recently became sober, stopping all the drugs and alcohol, and even weed. He’s much more present and disciplined, which organically delivers a positive message to his fans to follow suit.

AllHipHop spoke with Lil Mosey in downtown Los Angeles about his new music, being independent, “Blueberry Faygo” taking off, working out and more.

AllHipHop: How are you feeling?

Lil Mosey: I’m good. I’m great. I’m feeling great, another day.

AllHipHop: You made “Life Goes On” back in January, right? What was your mindset then?

Lil Mosey: My mindset then and now is a lot different. Honestly, I wasn’t in a bad place, I was more in a different mindset. Musically, I wasn’t really into the usual s### I am into.

AllHipHop: I saw that. You don’t even listen to rap anymore.

Lil Mosey: I ain’t trying to s### on nobody. But for me personally, rap hasn’t been the same for a while. But that’s another reason why I had to come back to dropping some rap music for the fans, because I gotta give them something so they don’t feel like I felt. Where’s the music at? I feel it. So I had to… they put a new spark in me, because I wasn’t really trying to make rap music. That wasn’t really my vibe. They forced me to get back in that mode. Now we back in that mode, so now it’s time to turn up on them.

AllHipHop: Now I’m wondering, are you reassessing your entire EP and album? Because were you planning on going that direction.

Lil Mosey: I’m still gonna give them a little bit more. Some different s###, but I definitely had to hit the drawing board. The songs were there regardless, but when you make so many songs and you make a bunch of good music… especially for me, I’m the one listening to it every day. I be forgetting that nobody’s heard it yet except me. I be moving on from songs, and forgetting that I have other songs that I should be at least putting out for the fans. Before they get too old, to the point I don’t even really want to [drop].

As much as I’m mentally moved on, I gotta remember that I gotta still move on. But now that I’m independent — for “Thug Popstar”: I already had the song, but the second verse I recorded two days ago. So that’s cool, because I get to put music out that’s super fresh. That feels a lot better for me because it’s brand new for me, just like it’s brand new to the fans.

AllHipHop: And you can drop when you want to, that’s so valuable. You don’t understand how many artists I’ve interviewed where the label wouldn’t let them release.

Lil Mosey: I mean, I haven’t put out an album since 2019. It’s been almost five years. If it was up to me, I would’ve put out five albums by now. But you know, you get put in a situation where it’s not the best for you. I’m just blessed that I’m out of that situation.

AllHipHop: What happened with Interscope?

Lil Mosey: Nothing personal. I love Interscope. I got love for them because at the end of the day, we did do a lot together. But we didn’t really see eye to eye on certain aspects, so it was better off that we split ways.

AllHipHop: You mentioned how you make music, then you forget about it? Isn’t that what happened with “Blueberry Faygo”?

Lil Mosey: Yeah, it is. That’s another one of my problems: forgetting the music and moving past the music. There could be more “Blueberry Faygo’s” in the vault that I’m not thinking about. If it’s meant to happen, it’s gon’ happen regardless. That’s how “Blueberry Faygo” happened.

AllHipHop: What was the best memory from that era? Because there was not a radio station you could turn on and you did not hear “Blueberry Faygo.” That s### was a movement. You felt that?

Lil Mosey: Of course. It was COVID, so a lot of the s### I would’ve experienced, I didn’t really get to experience the same way. That made it a little cooler though, because it was different. It wasn’t like any other time. When I did “Noticed” and “Stuck In A Dream,” there was no Covid. I was on tour and I was doing s###. But COVID, it was all online. The only people I was around were the people that were — I don’t know the right word. I’m not trying to say important, but a specific group of people. I wasn’t around my fans or nothing, so it was a weird experience. It was definitely weird. Unless another pandemic happens, not a lot of people can say they know what that feels like to have a hit song during pandemic. Nobody can go outside, but your song is playing everywhere. But where? I don’t know where these people are listening to this s### at, but they’re listening and they’re somewhere.

AllHipHop: Where did it blow up first? Was it TikTok?

Lil Mosey: TikTok, yeah. That was before I really knew what TikTok was.

AllHipHop: Taz Taylor told you that you sounded like you’re chasing a hit. What was your reaction? Because I’d be offended.

Lil Mosey: Nah, I understood what he was saying. That was four years ago, a while ago. But at that time period, my mindset wasn’t really on my music. It was on having fun. The way I was making music wasn’t feeling natural and forced. It’s a different mindset. The mindset I’m in now, the only thing I want to do is make music. At the time, I didn’t care about it. I was just having fun, I was enjoying the s###. But I had something to celebrate at the time. Right now, I’m working.

AllHipHop: Have you picked up any new hobbies since you’re not partying anymore?

Lil Mosey: Here and there. I definitely play a lot of video games [laughs]. But I’ve been in the gym. Around this same exact time last year, right after I was found not guilty: alright, now I got some stress off my shoulders, I need to lock in and get healthy. Because I felt so unhealthy. I was smoking nicotine all day, every day.

AllHipHop: Damn, the vapes?

Lil Mosey: Yeah, for a long time. Since I was 15, for a long time. Alright, my lungs are starting to not feel the same. I gotta give this s### up, so I stopped hitting that s###. I started getting on the treadmill. I started running. It went from I couldn’t even run a mile, I couldn’t at all, now I run three miles every day almost.

AllHipHop: Who are you listening to?

Lil Mosey: That’s the thing. Some days, I don’t got no music to listen to.

AllHipHop: Time goes by so slow on the treadmill if you don’t listen to music.

Lil Mosey: Trust me I know. I be watching movies, all types of s###. I be listening to music. When Kanye’s album dropped out, I listened to the whole s### on the treadmill. Some people say they don’t like, I think that s###’s hard as f###. The reason I say it’s hard is because you gotta understand, they’re not just going in the studio and making a beat and rapping over that s###. They’re putting a lot into that s###, you can hear it in the music. As much as people want to act like it’s not what it is, it is a work of art at the end of the day. And I can respect it for that.

Future Collaborator ATL Jacob Denies Dissing Metro Boomin

ATL Jacob, one of Future’s go-to producers, shut down an attempt to instigate beef with Metro Boomin. A social media user baselessly suggested Jacob dissed Metro on Nicki Minaj’s song “FTCU (SLEEZEMIX),” which dropped on Friday (April 19). Jacob responded to the claim on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“F### NO we ain’t doing that,” Jacob wrote.

The instigator said her comment was just a joke.

Jacob wanted to clear the air since Metro is currently involved in a contentious beef with Drake. Future and Metro ignited the battle when they released their We Don’t Trust You album in March. Future took shots at Drake on the project, but most fans focused on Kendrick Lamar dissing Drizzy on the song “Like That.” Rick Ross sided with Future and Metro despite Drake and Rozay’s history of collaborations.

Future and Metro unleashed more Drake disses on the follow-up album We Still Don’t Trust You. A$AP Rocky and The Weeknd jumped into the fray with their guest appearances. Drake fired back at his growing list of enemies with the diss track “Push Ups.” The opening line targeted Future.

“I could never be nobody number one fan/Your first number one, I had to put it in your hand/You p###### can’t get booked outside America for nan/I’m out in Tokyo because I’m big in Japan/I’m the hitmaker y’all depend on/Backstage in my city, it was friend zone,” Drake rapped.

He added, “Metro, shut your hoe ass up and make some drums, n####.”

“Push Ups” leaked online, causing fans to wonder if it was an AI-generated song. Drake ended the debate by officially releasing the diss track on streaming services.

Ross was the first (and so far only) person to respond to “Push Ups” via diss track. He bashed Drake on the song “Champagne Moments.”

Kodak Black Cleared Of All Charges In Florida Drug Case

A Florida judge dismissed an evidence tampering charge against Kodak Black on Wednesday (April 17). The judge’s decision allowed the 26-year-old rapper to put a drug case behind him after he was released from jail in February.

“The undisputed material fact in the instant case is that the substance was not destroyed,” Judge Barbara Duffy wrote. “The State agrees that the substance was on the Defendant’s mouth as well as on the ground near the Defendant’s body. More importantly, the State clearly acknowledges in its Traverse that the Defendant ‘was attempting to ingest that substance he had in his possession to avoid that substance [being] discovered on scene’ … The substance at issue in the case at hand was not destroyed. Officers retrieved and placed in evidence the substance on and around Defendant’s person. Under the State’s best evidence, the Defendant attempted to alter or destroy evidence but was unsuccessful.”

Kodak, whose real name is Bill Kapri, was arrested for cocaine possession and evidence tampering in December 2023. Prosecutors charged him with oxycodone possession instead of cocaine in January.

Bradford Cohen, Kodak’s attorney, insisted his client had a prescription for oxycodone and was wrongfully charged. Judge Duffy agreed, dismissing the drug possession charge in February. Cohen reacted to the complete dismissal of the case on Wednesday.

“Count 2 is now dismissed of Kodaks ‘possession of cocaine’ that wasn’t cocaine case that should have never been filed or brought by the Broward State Atty Office,” Cohen wrote on Instagram. “We showed them his script prior to filing, and they decided to file anyway… even knowing the officer was wrong about the substance and his story changing and making no sense. That case is now completely dismissed.”

Kodak spent roughly two months in jail for a probation violation due to the drug possession arrest. He secured his release by pleading guilty to failure to report police contact.

Jermaine Dupri Slams A.I.-Generated Kendrick Lamar Diss Track

Jermaine Dupri expressed frustration over an artificial intelligence-created song falsely credited to Kendrick Lamar. TikTok creator Sy The Rapper produced the track which dissed OVO Sound frontman Drake.

Many internet users, including some prominent podcasters, believed Kendrick Lamar recorded Sy The Rapper’s A.I. vocals. Members of Drake’s crew even falsely assumed the fake record’s authenticity. The For All the Dogs rapper also commented under OVO Hush’s Instagram post about the song.

“This is the dumbest most irresponsible thing I’ve seen in years, Hip-Hop is too dangerous and Hip-Hop has always gone against fake s###,” Jermaine Dupri tweeted on Thursday (April 18). The So So Def label founder shared that opinion in response to an article about Sy The Rapper.

Jermaine Dupri has been vocal about his opposition to artificial intelligence being used to make music. The 51-year-old Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee recently blasted the music creation application Udio.

“That to me is so disrespectful to n##### that’s been playing music their whole life that take piano lessons, keyboard lessons, whatever, guitar lessons,” Jermaine Dupri stated in a video posted to the X social media platform.

Dupri also added, “We’re allowing a company of people that are probably not musicians, that don’t give a f### about musicians, to say, ‘We making an app so everybody and anybody can make music and be a music virtuoso.’ That’s the word they used. I don’t agree with this s###.”

TDE Rapper Reason Freestyles Over Drake’s “8AM In Charlotte” Amid Kendrick Lamar Feud

Top Dawg Entertainment recording artist Reason continues to find himself inserted into the ongoing Kendrick Lamar versus Drake rivalry. Lamar’s former labelmate leaned into the drama with a new freestyle.

Reason rapped over the beat for Drake’s “8AM in Charlotte” song off the 2023 album For All the Dogs. The On The Radar performance hit YouTube on Thursday (April 18).

“It’s ‘Conductor’s’ beat not Drake’s. I love good production!” the Carson, California native tweeted in response to a clip of his version of “8AM in Charlotte” posted to X.

Previously, Reason made headlines for essentially co-signing the leaked Drake diss track “Push Ups” directed at Kendrick Lamar and others. “Push Ups” served as a response to Lamar’s “Like That” verse.

“Nah this final production CRAZY,” Reason tweeted about the “Push Ups” record. He later deleted that tweet. The Porches album creator then posted, “I just like good production man.”

There could be beef brewing inside the Top Dawg Entertainment camp. In 2023, Reason got into a heated public argument with TDE President Anthony “Moosa” Tiffith Jr.

Additionally, Reason recently suggested he wanted to be released from TDE. When questioned about possibly being dropped by the Los Angeles-based label, he responded, “Yea bro, been asking for a [minute].”

Madlib & Talib Kweli’s “Liberation 2” Hits Charts, Rapper Explains Significance Of Independence

In an era where digital streaming and monetization tactics often dominate the conversation around music releases, Hip-Hop veterans Talib Kweli and Madlib have navigated their path with the follow-up to their 2007 album, Liberation.

The sequel, aptly titled Liberation 2, appeared on the Luminary streaming platform, marking a decisive move towards retaining artistic and financial control.

This decision showcases a shift in strategy for distributing their collaborative efforts, defying the status quo on how Hip-Hop music is consumed and paid for in the digital age.

Liberation 2 by me and Madlib was initially only available at an exclusive site. This enabled Madlib and I to not have to depend on the goodwill of others to get paid for our art,” Talib Kweli shared, highlighting the importance of independence in the music industry.

The move to Luminary, a platform less conventional than Spotify or Apple Music for album releases, was to ensure artistic sovereignty while creating a direct line of revenue and engagement with their audience.

Following the exclusive period on Luminary, Liberation 2 broadened its reach.

“That exclusive period is now up. Liberation 2 is now available on all DSPs, my bandcamp and the vinyl and CD are available at Kweliclub.com – as of now with zero major label promotion or support it’s the number 5 Hip-Hop album in the country,” Kweli stated.

The album has succeeded without the backing of major label promotion thanks to the duo’s well-established fanbase and the potency of word-of-mouth within Hip-Hop communities.

Complementing the album’s release, Talib Kweli and Madlib have also turned to visual storytelling.

“We shot videos for several songs as well, they are all available on my YouTube page including the latest one, ‘The Right To Love Us’ featuring Mac Miller (rest in peace),” Kweli added.

This posthumous feature of Mac Miller pays tribute to the late artist and adds depth to the album’s narrative, enriching the listener’s experience.

Ice Spice Admits She Didn’t Expect To Win Any Grammys At 2024 Ceremony

Ice Spice scored four nominations at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in February. However, the 24-year-old recording artist left the show empty-handed.

The latest episode of The Shop talk show features Ice Spice as a guest. During her appearance on the LeBron James-led program, the Bronx-raised rapper spoke about her 2024 Grammy Award experience.

“It’s my first Grammys, so I was just honored to be there and grateful for my nominations to be honest,” Spice stated in a clip posted to X. “I didn’t expect to win any, so I didn’t leave disappointed.”

The Recording Academy nominated Ice Spice in the Best New Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Karma” with Taylor Swift), Best Song Written for Visual Media (“Barbie World” with Nicki Minaj and Aqua), and Best Rap Song (“Barbie World”) categories.

Ice Spice’s Best Rap Song nod for “Barbie World” led to some controversy on Grammy night . The Recording Academy’s official X social media account accidentally announced “Barbie World” as the winner.

Killer Mike’s “Scientists & Engineers” featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane took home the Best Rap Song trophy. Many Nicki Minaj fans expressed outrage over the error. Minaj has yet to win a Grammy Award in her near-20-year career.

Rick Ross Trolls Drake Over Millie Bobby Brown Sexual Grooming Accusations

Many Hip-Hop fans wondered what angles Drake’s opponents would take as part of the ongoing battles playing out. Rick Ross decided to reference the sexual misconduct rumors against the Canadian rapper as an attack.

Drake and Rick Ross have been going back and forth on songs and social media for over a week. On Thursday (April 18), Ross used his Instagram Stories to take a shot at Drizzy by touching on grooming accusations.

“That right there. I know Drake would’ve loved that like Millie Bobby Brown. He would have been all in them DMs,” Ross stated while promoting his upcoming car show on June 1.

In 2018, then-14-year-old Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown disclosed she and Drake would send “I miss you” texts to each other. That admission led to backlash over a 31-year-old man regularly conversing with a teenage girl.

Drake’s text conversations with then-17-year-old singer Billie Eilish also raised concerns for some people. The OVO Sound co-founder addressed the Millie Bobby Brown grooming accusations on his “Another Late Night” song.

“Weirdos in my comments talking ‘bout some Millie Bobby, look. Bring them jokes up to the gang, we get to really flockin’,” Drake rapped on the For All The Dogs track featuring Lil Yachty.

U.K. Rap Titans Stormzy & Headie One Reunite On “Cry No More”

Headie One and Stormzy have reunited on a new song “Cry No More.”

After several collaborations, the duo marked their return on the lead single to Headie One’s highly anticipated upcoming album, The Last One

The introspective track, which sees the North London rapper reflect on his old life, arrived at midnight Friday (April 19) with an accompanying video following hours later.

“This is one of my favourites from the album,” Headie One told NME of his Stormzy collaboration.

“The video concept was to show people that everyone has struggles they have to deal with daily,” he added. “That’s no different to Stormzy and me, regardless of what people think we’ve achieved in our careers. We still have things in life we have to deal with like everyone else.”

Meanwhile, Stormzy teases his next album on the collab and reveals he might name the project after his girlfriend, TV presenter Maya Jama.

“I just laugh when they say that I can’t go higher, I’m a frequent flyer / My last album’s cold but my new one’s fire, I might call it ‘Maya’” Stormy raps on the track.

Stormzy and Maya Jama rekindled their romance last year following a highly publicized split in 2019.  The couple confirmed their reunion in October after dropping hints all summer.

The Last One is due this summer. The project follows Headie One’s historic 2020 LP, Edna, the first drill album to top the U.K. chart.

In addition to her foray into football, Chrisean Rock teased new music among other ventures. Furthermore, she plans to document her football journey in a reality TV show, which could be the inaugural show on her own network

Earlier this month, Rock explained her social media absence and hinted at some major plans. While she claimed multiple networks had reached out to host her football show, including Ray J’s new Tronix, Chrisean Rock plans to launch a TV network of her own.

Nonetheless, Ray J still wants Chrisean on board, but said she’s not playing ball.

“We want a Chrisean show… She gotta hit us up. I’ve been hitting her, no response. I don’t know when it was, but whenever she’s ready, the bag is here,” Ray J announced. He also said, “Suki bout to start her network in three months.”
