2 Chainz Says “ColleGrove” Sequel With Lil Wayne “COLLEGROVE 2” Will Arrive Before End Of 2023

2 Chainz says his official full-length studio album with Lil Wayne, COLLEGROVE 2, will arrive before the end of the year. As he recently told ABC News, “We have two videos shot, photoshoot shot, (the) album’s mixed and getting mastered, so it’ll be coming sooner than later, and I’m really excited about it. It’s rapping at a high level — steel sharpens steel. And he’s one of the people that I enjoy working with the most.”

In addition to Tunechi, the album will also include Benny The Butcher and Usher. Regardless of the other special guests, it is primarily a Weezy and 2 Chainz affair.

“We worked together on every song and we over-recorded,” he said. “But he kind of laid that responsibility in my lap. He’s creative. He’s coming up with concepts and ideas. And then, I’m someone that does the same thing on the marketing side, putting together the right set of songs that fit the particular concept I’m trying to convey.”

He continued, “I think we work well in that extent to where he trusts my opinion and how I’m handling everything. And he’s going to bring the A-game to work every day.”

2 Chainz has been teasing the sequel to 2016’s ColleGrove since 2020 and as recently as 2022. Lil Wayne appeared on eight of the original 12 joints— a compromise they had to make because of his contract with his label.

Blueface Stabbing Case Dismissed Despite Video Of Incident

A man has avoided prosecution for allegedly stabbing Blueface. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the case earlier this week after the 26-year-old rapper refused to cooperate with police, per the Los Angeles Times.

Blueface, whose real name is Johnathan Porter, was stabbed at a boxing gym in August. His alleged attacker was charged with felony assault. According to the district attorney’s office, Blueface didn’t answer any questions at the scene of the stabbing. He rejected medical treatment and failed to provide identification.

Deputy District Attorney Paula Selesnick said the boxing gym owner “was also uncooperative.” Although much of the incident was captured by a security camera, the stabbing was obscured in the video.

Blueface posted footage of the incident on social media. He said the stabbing would prevent him from competing in a celebrity boxing match scheduled for October. The West Coast artist claimed he didn’t know his attacker. Blueface insisted he was fine despite getting stabbed in the leg.

“It was just a leg shot, guys,” he said in an Instagram Stories post. “I’m OK. Y’all don’t gotta blow up my phone or nothing.”

A few weeks after the stabbing, Chrisean Rock gave birth to her first child with Blueface. The baby’s arrival seemingly helped the on-again, off-again couple get back on good terms.

Lizzo Hit With Another Lawsuit Alleging Discrimination & Sexual Harassment

Several bombshell lawsuits allege Lizzo, who often talks about empowerment and body shaming, is the meanie she criticizes. One of the cases reportedly alleges she surrounds herself with workers like the ones she often puts on blast.

Fashion designer Asha Daniels filed the complaint against the star, a member of her team wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura, her production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., and her tour manager, Carlina Gugliotta on Thursday (September 21) in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The claim alleges sexual harassment, racial discrimination, failure to prevent a hostile work environment and more.

When Daniels spoke to NBC News, she shared what it was like working for the “Special” chart-topper.

“I felt like I was living in a madhouse,” she said. “It was totally shocking. I was listening to this Black woman on this huge stage have this message of self-love and caring for others and being empathetic and being strong and standing up for others and I was witnessing myself, the dancers and the background vocalists and my local team in every city be harassed and bullied regularly.”

According to the lawsuit, Nomura called Black female dancers “fat,” “useless” and “dumb” and made them change in front of men who would “lewdly gawk” at their bodies. When Daniels spoke up about it, she said in her lawsuit she was terminated.

Even though Nomura works for Lizzo and the singer isn’t being accused of firing Daniels, she is mentioned in the lawsuit.

“Lizzo is the boss, so the buck stops with her,” Daniels’ lawyer Ron Zambrano said. Zambrano is also the lawyer for three former dancers currently suing Lizzo for sexual harassment and a hostile work environment.

The Tinashe & Chris Brown Spat Isn’t As Bad As We Were Led To Believe

R&B star Tinashe appears to be taking the high road in her recent pseudo-feud with bad boy Chris Brown. The whole thing started when Tinashe dropped some unsavory bars about her experience collaborating with the likes of Brown and R. Kelly in a recent interview. For reference, in 2015 Tinashe collaborated with R. Kelly for his album The Buffet via the track “Let’s Be Real.” She also joined forces with Brown for her own single “Player.”

While R. Kelly is currently serving time in prison on a litany of sexual assault charges, Brown has also been embroiled in cases of alleged abuse and misogyny against women. Tinashe said, in part, that those issues were some of the factors that made her embarrassed to have even worked with them in the first place.

“You think I wanted to [collaborate] Tinashe said while scoffing. “I literally block out that R. Kelly song from my mind. I forget that that [song] exists. That’s so embarrassing. That is so unreal that I have a song with R. Kelly.”

Tinashe then went on to explain that “when it comes to singles, for example, that song with Chris was a song that we all wanted it to be this big moment… So I feel like in [the label’s] mind, they were like ‘You need the support.’ And [Chris] was like their biggest artist that they had on rhythmic radio at the time.”

Well, Brown didn’t seem to take it too lightly to comment and even challenged fans to “name five Tinashe songs” in the comments of an Instagram post featuring a video clip of the interview. However, Tinashe seems to think there may be a chance at reconciliation, considering she feels the entire thing was a misunderstanding in the first place.

“I think he probably didn’t actually watch the full video, but you know, it is what it is it’s all fine, it’s all good,” she said of the incident in an interview with TMZ.

Even though she went on to say she’s currently “focused on the future” she did however seemingly oblige to making amends with Chris Brown when asked if she would be willing to do so. “I would talk to him, if he wants to reach out,” she said before adding, “It’s all love—we’re trying to move on to bigger things.”

Even though Tinashe is clearly in the headspace of moving forward with her new project BB/ANG3L, we can all still dream of her and Brown performing “Clarity” together and giving us a glimpse of R&B excellence just one more time, right?

The Deep Reason Jeezy And Jeannie Mai Probably Failed

In a revelation that has piqued the curiosity of many, the marriage of television personality Jeannie Mai and Jeezy has recently come under scrutiny, shedding light on the challenges that beset the couple. While marital beef is nothing special, this one has captivated us. The specifics of their situation have not truly been revealed and that keeps us speculating.

Jeannie is a known “strong-willed and independent” person. She is married to a man who has steadfastly remained private. They have some serious cultural differences too. It has been suggested that some individuals may enter into interracial marriages with certain stereotypes or preconceived notions, anticipating particular qualities in their partner. In this case, there have been HINTS that Jeezy may have expected a more submissive disposition, a stereotype that Mai decidedly defies. I find this hard to believe, especially if you follow her persona in any way. But, that is what people are saying about the matter.

A trusted source – Funky from Fox Soul laid out the challenges that MAY have strained the marriage.

  • Distance: We talked about this before, but their physical distance has been an issue and reportedly posed a significant challenge to the relationship.
  • Social Media Divide: Another focal point of tension has been their contrasting attitudes toward social media. While Jeannie is known for her active online presence and penchant for sharing her life on various platforms, her husband is highly private. The conflict between their preferences has manifested in social gatherings and events. Personally, I thought Jeezy was switching over to Jeannie’s way of moving but clearly, this is not the case.
  • Family Matters: The presence of extended family members in the household has also been cited as a source of tension. Mai’s mother has reportedly been a constant presence since the beginning of the marriage, and her brother reportedly started living with them. Looks like Jeezy divorced the whole clan.
  • Parenting Styles: Parenting styles have emerged as a point of contention. For instance, the couple appears to disagree on the matter of walking their child to school, with one partner concerned about privacy and the other emphasizing the importance of a daily routine. WHOA! What about compromise?

My sources tell me that the latter two issues are the most important and have caused the most issues for the couple. I believe the cumulative effect caused them to be in this situation. It is hard to say if Jeannie would have pulled the D-Trigger on him, but it feels like he decided to let off his shot first.

While these issues may appear trivial, they live a complex life. And a very Hollywood life, despite their “normal” sheen. They are literally only two years married. There are going to be bumps in the road. Relationship experts – not us chatty patties – suggest that such differences are not insurmountable and can be FIXED through open communication and compromise. Will they? Only time will tell.

Chad Johnson Says He Used To Be An LA Stripper In The 1990s

Former professional football player Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson revealed some apparent details about his pre-NFL life. According to the 45-year-old athlete, part of his late-teenage years were spent working as a male exotic dancer.

“I used to strip at The Right Track. I used to be a dancer,” said Chad Johnson on a livestream, before adding, “I could tell you cause we family. [In] 1997, I was in LA. My mom was out there but I really couldn’t live with my mama, so I had a place in Santa Monica.”

The 6-time Pro Bowler continued, “Sometimes I was short on my light bill. Them candles, light em. I used to strip. I used to be a dancer. If anybody in the chat is from LA that’s a little bit older, I used to strip at The Right Track. I b####### you not.”

Chad Johnson went on to say he allegedly made around $2,500 to $3,000 a night at The Right Track strip club. Apparently, the native of Miami, Florida had to skip some striptease gigs at the time to attend football practice.

“Back then, you danced for the big women. The big women tip you good. You know having $2,500, $3,000 back in 1997 as a little kid, you know how much money that is? [blows a raspberry] Boy, I was making a killing,” offered the Inside the NFL analyst.

Chad Johnson would have been around 19 years old in 1997. At one point, he attended Santa Monica College before transferring to Oregon State University. Ochocinco later spent time playing for the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots in the National Football League.

Jack Harlow Named SESAC’s Songwriter Of The Year For Third Straight Year

Jack Harlow received recognition from SESAC during the organization’s annual music awards on Tuesday (September 19). The Louisville-raised rapper took home Songwriter Of The Year for 2023 and Song of the Year for “First Class.” Sony Music Publishing also won Publisher of the Year.

“We are honored to celebrate our songwriters and publishers across multiple genres,” SESAC Chief Creative Officer Sam Kling said. “SESAC is proud of its affiliates who continue to write chart-topping hits and we enjoy every opportunity we get to celebrate their achievements.”

“First Class” landed on DSPs in April 2022. The Come Home the Kids Miss You album single peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Previously, Jack Harlow scored a No. 1 as a contributor to “Industry Baby” by Lil Nas X.

Come Home the Kids Miss You debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart by earning 113,000 first-week units. Harlow dropped his third studio LP, Jackman, in April. Jackman plateaued at No. 8 on the Billboard 200.

Jada Pinkett uploaded a couple of throwback posts via Instagram on Wednesday (September 20), sharing old footage of herself with Tupac Shakur (2Pac). Before starring in movies such as Set It Off and Girls Trip, Pinkett attended the same Maryland high school as 2Pac in the late 1980s. The two future stars became friends at the Baltimore School for the Arts. Pinkett eventually married Will Smith after reportedly meeting on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1997.

Earlier this week, Pinkett shared a pre-1990s era video on social media that included an appearance by 2Pac and a song by Will Smith. The Instagram clip featured Jada and Pac performing one of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’s biggest hits from 1988.

“Not in a million years would I have dreamed that the Fresh Prince and I would become, um, very acquainted,” she wrote in the caption. “Not in a million years did I imagine three lives, their fates, would be so intertwined.”

A gunman fatally shot Kirsnick “Takeoff” Ball in Houston on November 1, 2022. The Migos member/Quavo’s uncle died at the age of 28. A grand jury indicted Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, for Takeoff’s murder.

Boosie Badazz now wants the chance to talk with Vice President Kamala Harris as well. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native took to the X social media platform on September 20 to offer a public request for a meeting.

“@VP I WANNA ADVOCATE FOR GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION ALSO!! CAN YOU USE ME TO SAVE SOME OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION THAT’S LOST?” posted Boosie. “THESE KIDS WILL LISTEN TO SOMEONE THEY LOOK UP [TO], WHO HAD SIMILAR CHILDHOODS BEFORE THEY LISTEN TO [THEIR] OWN PARENTS!!”

Police Officer Who Shot Unarmed U.K. Rapper Chris Kaba Charged With Murder

A firearms officer has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of U.K. rapper Chris Kaba, who was killed by a single gunshot to the head in South London last year. 

The 24-year-old father-to-be was unarmed when an unidentified officer, known only as NX121 

shot him through the windscreen of the vehicle he was driving. London’s Metropolitan Police reported that Kaba was shot “after a vehicle pursuit.”  

However, an inquest found Kaba was not a suspect, nor was he being chased by cops but was being followed by an unmarked police car without lights and sirens. The vehicle, which did not belong to Kaba, had been linked to a firearms incident the previous day. 

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), carried out an investigation, leading to the murder charge. 

“Following a thorough review of the evidence provided by the IOPC, the CPS has authorised a charge of murder against a Metropolitan Police officer following the death of Chris Kaba,” Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said in a statement.  

“Mr Kaba died after he was struck by a single bullet in Streatham Hill, south London,” Ainslie continued. “The CPS reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the officer are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.” 

The officer will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 21.  

Chris Kaba’s Family Welcome Murder Charge

Protests erupted all over the U.K. in the wake of Chris Kaba’s death, supported by many fellow U.K. rappers. The grief-stricken family issued a joint statement following the murder charge.  

“We welcome this charging decision, which could not have come too soon. Now we await the trial of the firearms officer without delay and hope and pray that justice will be served.” 

Of the 1,870 deaths in or following police custody or contact in England and Wales since 1990, recorded by INQUEST, the charity, only one has resulted in a successful prosecution of a police officer for manslaughter. None of these deaths resulted in a successful prosecution for murder, per The Independent.

Cardi B Hits Back At Claim She’s Throwing Shade Instead Of Celebrating Offset On Anniversary Post

Cardi B gushed over her husband, Offset, in an Instagram post celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary on Wednesday (September 20).  

The Migos rapper spared no expense in honoring his wife for the occasion. The “Bongos” hitmaker shared a video of their mansion foyer decked in lavish floral arrangements. She paid tribute to her husband in a lengthy post, revealing her favourite thing about him.  

“Thank you for the flowers, the empowerment, the protection and for being a great father to our children,” Cardi penned in the caption. “I love so many things about you,” she declared, adding that she loves that Offset provides, protects and helps them grow together.  

She also said her husband “can handle my mouth, my attitude, my confidence my weakness and all this ASS!!”  

However, what Cardi B admires most is Offset’s minute attention to detail.  

“You study me and always pay attention to what I’m into,” she continued. “I love that you into details like me because it’s always the lil things that make me smile or even drive me off the wall.”

However, despite the loving sentiments, one commenter accused Cardi B of being so “miserable” that she’s “focused on throwing shade,” and not celebrating her happiness.  

A bewildered Cardi B responded, questioning where the shade was. “I’m really confused? I gotta reread again,” she replied. “How am I throwing shade? What the hell y’all be on for real?”

Quavo Takes Fight Against Gun Violence To Vice President Kamala Harris In Wake Of Takeoff’s Death

Quavo met with Vice President Kamala Harris and members of Congress during the Congressional Black Caucus legislative conference in Washington on Wednesday (September 20), to call for action on gun violence after losing his nephew and fellow Migos member Takeoff in a fatal shooting last year. 

The “Greatness” hitmaker teamed up with the Community Justice Action Fund to advocate for gun violence prevention in a panel discussion in DC. He was accompanied by his mother, Edna and sister, Titania Davenport, the mother of Takeoff.   

Quavo was inspired to take action after his nephew’s tragic death in November 2022, AP News reports.  

“You don’t think nothing is going to happen,” he stated before adding, “I need to step up to the plate and hit a homerun.”

He continued, “I have to do something about it, so it won’t happen to the masses — especially in our culture. I don’t want this to happen to the next person. I want to knock down these percentages.” 

Quavo stated, “We need to do better with the control of guns.” He often questions how guns can be used safely to prevent further loss, including instances of police brutality.  

“How do you keep them out of the hands of people that make bad decisions?” he added. “I’m kind of in a half-and-half place. Even police have guns. Unfortunately, some of the people in our culture and loved ones have been lost to police brutality. It’s all about choices and how we can put a filter on who can use these guns.” 

Vice President Praises Quavo For Gun Violence Advocacy

Kamala Harris shared images of her meeting with Quavo and his mother and sister while paying tribute to the family.

Quavo and his family launched the Rocket Foundation in 2022 with a $2 million commitment to invest in community violence intervention in honor of Takeoff. He insisted he needs more “resources” to enact change.  

“I feel like after going to the White House, I need resources,” he added. “I need a bag of goodies, so I can take back and say ‘Here, this is for the culture.’ We have that extension cord. We are plugged into that type of environment. I don’t think no one else in our stature is that connected. In order for things to change, we need resources.” 

Nicki Minaj’s Husband Kenneth Petty On Home Arrest For “Making Threatening Remarks” To Offset

Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, has been ordered to serve up to 120 days on home arrest after he and his friends went looking for Offset in New York City over the weekend. 

On Wednesday (September 20), court reporter Meghann Cuniff shared a legal filing signed earlier that day by Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald ordering Petty to serve “up to” 120 days on home detention for “making threatening remarks toward a specific individual while in the company of someone with a criminal record.” 

As Cuniff explained, “The individual is Offset, Cardi B’s husband.” 

Kenneth Petty Hunts Down Offset

In an Instagram post shared by one of his friends last Friday (September 15), Kenneth Petty taunted the Migos rapper while out in New York City.  

“Offset, where you at?” Petty said in the clip. “That’s it … you know what’s up. We outside! Big Zoo outside!” He also said something about planning a funeral before adding, “Let’s play.” 

However, a short while later, Offset was touching down in Boulder, Colorado, to meet up with Deion Sanders and laughed off the threats. 

Back in July 2022, the same judge sentenced Petty to one year of home confinement and three years probation for failing to register as a sex offender. 

Wednesday’s order continued, “This recent violation conduct raises concerns over Mr. Petty’s willingness to comply with the Court’s orders.” 

Cuniff notes, “Petty didn’t even try to fight this.” She cited a line from the filing: “The supervisee and defense counsel consent to modification and waive a personal appearance before the Court.” 

She also stated, “Probation officer and judge did not need an outside report/complaint to act on this.” 

Petty’s probation officer believes home detention “will effectively allow for closer monitoring of Mr. Petty’s activities, limit his movements, provide a sanction for his non-compliance, and hopefully encourage him to reflect upon and reevaluate his current status in the community.” 

The NYC icon is standing by her man. Earlier this week, after Kenneth Petty was dragged online following the Offset incident, Nicki Minaj shared some new family photos with her husband and little boy.

Adidas CEO Calls Kanye West Split “Very Sad,” Doubts Ye Meant Antisemitic Remarks

Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden has opened up about his thoughts on the Kanye West controversy and why he doubts Ye meant what he said nearly a year after West’s antisemitic remarks. He shared his perspective in an interview earlier this month with Norges Bank Investment Management. 

“I think Kanye West is one of the most creative people in the world,” Gulden explained. “Both in music and what I call street culture. So, he’s extremely creative and has, together with Adi, created a Yeezy line that was very successful. And then, as creative people, he did some statements, which wasn’t that good. And that caused Adi to break the contract and withdraw the product.” 

He called the breakdown in their partnership “Very unfortunate, because I don’t think he meant what he said. I don’t think he’s a bad person — it just came across that way.” 

Gulden expressed his sorrow over the split, although he admitted it was always a possibility.  

“[This] meant we lost that business, one of the most successful collabs in history. Very sad,” he continued. “But again, when you work with third parties that can happen. It’s part of the game. That can happen with an athlete, with an entertainer. It’s part of the business.” Watch the interview at the end of the page.

The German sportswear brand severed ties with the G.O.O.D. Music founder and discontinued his Yeezy line in November 2022. Adidas went on to report a $432 million drop in sales for the first quarter of 2023. In a statement following Kanye West’s departure, Adidas said it “does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.

Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.” 

Adidas began selling off its remaining Yeezy inventory earlier this year and raked in a reported $565 million in online sales. A portion of the profits went to charitable organizations, while Ye received an undisclosed amount. 

Is The Remy Ma / Papoose Situation Real Or Is Something Else Going On?

I know we are a bit late on this, but this is a delicate situation!

Over the weekend, Remy Ma hosted a battle rap concert that featured a face-off between Eazy The Block Captain and Geechi Gotti. It was a highly publicized battle that got even more exciting by the end.

During the intense battle, Gotti took the opportunity to call out Remy Ma, and accused the BX Queen of being unfaithful to Papoose with Eazy The Block Captain. Pap and Rem have been together like 15 years. Remy Ma didn’t speak when he said those awful words!

Gotti said:

Now Remy did an interview with 15MofeRadioafterward and she commented, “He [was only saying] what’s been on the blogs for the last three/four months. I’m comfortable. Listen, it’s battle rap.”

She is right, but there is a big but!

I am hearing that this may actually be a bigger play for Remy. And Pap. First of all, my source said, “Remy would never be that messy. Ever! She would never do that to Pap like that. If there were issues, she would handlie it the right way. If anything, this is a set up for a reality TV show,” the source said.

Could this be a bigger play? I do not know. But I know one thing, we need Pap and Rem to work out! They are the Hip-Hop Will and Jada! The rappity rap Jay and Bey! What do you think?

Joe Budden On Current State Of Hip-Hop: “It’s Disgusting Out There”

Joe Budden gets paid to spew his often controversial opinions about Hip-Hop—and his recent appearance on The GAUDS Show was no different. During the conversation, the former Slaughterhouse rapper didn’t seem too optimistic about Hip-Hop/rap’s future, calling it “dark.” He expounded on the topic, saying artists are so confused on which way to go, it makes it that much harder to navigate the current landscape.

“Everybody can’t go do a show, everybody can’t get a song on a playlist,” he said. “Everybody can’t access their fans, or the information behind these units that they’re moving. It’s dark out there. [People] don’t know how to respond to AI, label people are leaving for the tech companies, they’re playing all types of stock games at the top. Selling IPOs … their artists are not getting one red penny. It’s disgusting out there.”

Budden then suggested a “meeting” with “everybody” to come up with a solution.

The use of artificial intelligence in music has been in a lot of conversations as of late. More recently, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. enraged artists when he suggested the AI-generated Drake song “Heart On My Sleeve” would be eligible for a Grammy Award. Earlier this month, the song’s anonymous creator, Ghostwriter, launched a new track that featured AI-generated vocals akin to Travis Scott and 21 Savage.

Following the release of the video, the New York Times reported that Ghostwriter was angling for a Grammy nomination and quoted Mason saying the Drake song is “absolutely eligible because it was written by a human.”

He later clarified his comments in a video shared via social media, saying, “Even though it was written by a human creator, the vocals were not legally obtained; the vocals were not cleared by the label or the artists; and the song is not commercially available. Because of that, it’s not eligible. The Academy is here to support and advocate and protect and represent human artists and human creators, period.”

Future & Tems Pregnancy Rumors Run Wild

Rumors can run wild in the online world, and Tems and Future are a perfect example. These two artists collaborated on one of last year’s biggest hit songs, “WAIT FOR U,” which also featured Drake. The collaboration helped propel the Nigerian singer to megastardom, earning her numerous awards and the opportunity to work with other major artists. However, NOW she finds herself, along with the Trap Lord, in the midst of new speculation as pregnancy rumors swirl across the internet.

The beginning of these rumors appears to be a TikTok video that surfaced overnight. In the video, a user says Tems is showing signs of a baby bump, and fans have eagerly embraced this claim. The news quickly spread to Twitter, where fans of both artists reacted with animated GIFs and brief videos.

Some fans expressed skepticism, with one stating, “I need to conduct my own research because it’s hard to believe that Tems is expecting a child with Future.” Another fan exclaimed, “Everyone seems to be saying that Tems is pregnant by Future… Oh, my goodness!”

Tory Lanez Relocated To North Kern State Prison; Poses For New Mugshot

Tory Lanez has been relocated from Los Angeles County Jail to North Kern State Prison in Delano, California. The transfer comes just a month after he was slapped with a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez is expected to spend three to six months at the medium-security prison before being transferred to a longterm facility to serve the rest of his sentence.

During last month’s hearing, Lanez asked the judge to reconsider the sentence and think about the impact it would have on his 6-year-old son, Kai. He begged for an alternate sentence that wouldn’t involve jail time.

“I am genuinely asking you to put me to the test,” he said. “I respect your ruling, whatever it’s gonna be.”

Although he apologized to Megan Thee Stallion during the sentencing, he continued to proclaim his innocence, saying, “In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do. He added he would not “stop fighting till I come out victorious.”

But Lanez was denied bail just last week as he appeared once again in front of the judge. The judge denied his request for three reasons: he was convicted of a violent felony; he has a history of violating court orders; and he’s not a U.S. citizen and could be subject to deportation.

Lanez’s attorney, Crystal A. Morgan, argued he has “very strong ties to the community” and noted he’s traveled abroad for tour during bail and didn’t miss any court dates. Additionally, he always keeps his Visa updated and has ties to the U.S. through his wife and child, who live in L.A.

Despite Lanez’s conviction and subsequent sentence, he believes he’ll be released earlier than expected. On August 10, he issued a statement assuring his “umbrellas” he’ll see them “soon.”

Megan issued her own statement to the courts, explaining how Lanez’s actions have permanently altered her life. She said in part, “I want you to know that since I was viciously shot by the defendant a little over three years ago, I have not experienced a single day of peace. I have been tormented and terrorized in every degree by the defendant. He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma.

“He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul. He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media. He released music videos and songs to damage my character and continue his crusade. He treated my trauma like a joke when I could have died that day.”

Damian Lillard could be making his way to the Los Angeles Lakers this season—and here’s why. For all of my casual NBA followers, Lillard announced his desire to be traded to either the Miami Heat or Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year following the Portland Trailblazer’s disappointing season. While Miami has been tentatively billed as his preferred destination, it would be foolish to count out LeBron “LeGM” James’ influence to potentially sway the star point guard to join their squad.

If I’m being honest, the likelihood of that trade going down in the current climate isn’t ideal. For starters, multiple trade packages from the likes of the Heat have already been declined. Not to mention the Lakers are nearly capped out after blockbuster acquisitions of players such as Cam Reddish and Christian Wood, who agreed to multi-year deals—and, of course, Anthony Davis accepting the richest salary for any big man in the league currently amid his contract negotiations this summer.

With that said, I think Lillard wants to be a Laker and, realistically, that’s all that needs to happen in order for the pieces to be put in motion to make the move happen. The main reason behind my claim lies in Lillard’s recent appearance on the “Back On Figg” podcast. In addition to discussing multiple topic including his new album Don D.O.L.L.A., Lillard took some time to break down the 2020 NBA bubble championship. In the process, he may have just ousted high respect for the Lakers’ organization seemingly in an attempt to lobby himself on the roster.

“It was like, that was the best version of me up until that point so I don’t understand what people mean when they say they don’t credit it—I feel like it would’ve been hard to win that because people was fresh.” he said. If you’ll recall, the Trailblazers and Lakers faced off in an intense first-round series in which LeBron and co. bested Lillard’s squad 4-1 in the seven game series. Make no mistake, though, Lillard played some of the best basketball I’ve ever seen throughout that entire series and the bubble in general—posting back-to-back 50-point outings in multiple do-it-all efforts for the Trailblazerrs. 

”Now it’s ni###s like Donavan Mitchell and Jamal Murray going off for 58 points in the playoffs, it’s nothing to do!” Lillard said before adding “It count to me,” in regard to the Lakers 2020 championship.

Take his words with a grain of salt if you want to but I believe this may be the deciding factor on whether Lillard suits up in the purple and gold. You gotta remember, Lillard had the Lakeshow’s number during that series despite their loss. He was a complete matchup nightmare, no one could hold him. It’s obvious he would be an incredible addition to an already All-Star packed squad. Not to mention the Lakers have the ability to offer up guards such as Austin Reaves, who’s coming off an impressive Team USA outing this past FIBA World competition, to offer in trade packages.

The only drawback here is the fact that I speculate the Lakers may be hoarding draft picks in the event Bronny James may be able to be drafted to the squad before the end of his father’s tenure with the team.

Besides that, would’ve been f###ing amazing to see Lillard pulling from 60-feet out while LBJ and AD are having their way in the paint—what a time it would be, my friends!
