MF DOOM: Is The Hospital Looking To Avoid Costly Lawsuit?

I got some serious info. I just found out something that totally blew my mind. You won’t believe it, but apparently, the famous rapper MF DOOM died in the most senseless way. And, now we know the hospital knows it.

NHS trust in Leeds (National Health Services of England) had to apologize because they provided such crappy care to this underground rap icon. MF DOOM. He was only 49 when he passed away in October 2020, all because his brain didn’t get enough oxygen due to a bad reaction to a blood pressure drug he was taking.

READ ALSO: MF DOOM Death Fallout: Hospital Admits It Failed To Provide Proper Care

Believe it or not, MF DOOM was born in London. So, essentially one of their own died on their watch. But, here is the thing. I talked to somebody on the inside of the medical care industry and they informed me that the hospital is likely trying to avoid or mitigate a very costly lawsuit.

St James’s Hospital in Leeds has admitted that they messed up. They said they missed several chances to provide DOOM with better care when he was dealing with angioedema (a sudden swelling caused by an allergic reaction). DOOM’s throat, tongue, and lips swelled up AFTER he was given medication to control his blood pressure. This breaks my heart. We loved DOOM.

During the investigation, the assistant coroner pointed out that the care plan at the hospital wasn’t detailed enough. The coroner mentioned that our Hip-Hop brother’s deterioration was extremely fast and not something you see every day. There were things they could have done and should have done, but they did not do it. They also apologized directly to his wife, Jasmine. She walked through the whole process from the States.

Their chief medical officer, Dr. Hamish McLure, came clean and offered his condolences to The Thompson family, friends, and fans. He admitted that the care he received wasn’t up to par, and they’ve conducted a serious incident investigation. Now what? Apologies don’t mean anything with out restitution. And, quite frankly, there is no bringing DOOM back so what do we do? Sit and wait. Jasmine has not announced any lawsuit or any sort of forward motion. But, my folks say it is almost guaranteed to happen.

What a tragic and senseless death. It’s just mind-boggling how things went so wrong. Rest in peace, MF DOOM.

Lizzo Is Confident She Can Achieve EGOT Status

‌Lizzo is confident that she will achieve EGOT status during her career.

The 35-year-old already has four Grammys and one Emmy to her name, meaning she is just two awards – an Oscar and a Tony – away from the illustrious EGOT status.

During an interview with IndieWire, the “Juice” hitmaker insisted the title is well within her grasp.

“I am very talented and capable of whatever it takes to be (at the) Tonys. I was writing musicals in high school based off of operas that I loved by Rossini and Russian romance composers,” Lizzo told the outlet.

“When it comes to Oscars, I love film, and I’ve actually been making music for films. Even with the Barbie movie coming out, it’s really exciting – not to jump to any conclusions or anything.”

However, Lizzo, who contributed the song “Pink” to the upcoming Barbie soundtrack, stated that she is focusing on prioritizing her current projects.

“You know I’m gonna be extra. Whatever I’m doing, I’m producing it, I’m working on it behind the scenes, I’m staying up till 2:00 AM sweating over it. That’s the only way this s**t matters to me,” she said. “So, could I win an EGOT? I’m talented as hell. Yeah. Is that the goal? I think the goal is projects first. Passion first. And we’ll see.”

Lizzo took home an Emmy in 2022 for Outstanding Competition Program for her reality series, “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.”

Lizzo’s Grammy Awards include Record of the Year for About Damn Time and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts.”

Keke Palmer Turns “Booty Cheeks” Controversy With Usher Into Cash With New Merch Line

Keke Palmer has found a silver lining in the cloud of controversy stirred up by her boyfriend, Darius Jackson.

‌In a move that combines entrepreneurial spirit with a dash of sass, Palmer has launched a line of merchandise that cheekily addresses the recent uproar over her attire at an Usher concert.

The controversy began when Jackson took to Twitter to express his disapproval of Palmer’s outfit at the concert, a sheer black dress layered over a matching thong bodysuit.

Darius, who shares a son with the “Nope” actress, publicly criticized her sheer outfit on Twitter after retweeting a video of Keke being serenaded by Usher during his Las Vegas residency.

He tweeted, “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom (sic),” alongside the video hours earlier. When he came under fire for publicly shaming his partner’s look, Darius simply doubled down on his stance.

“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is,” he tweeted. “This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”

Palmer, not one to be easily deterred, has turned the tables on the controversy. She is now selling merchandise emblazoned with the slogan “I’m a Motha,” a clear nod to Jackson’s tweet.

The line includes a white crewneck sweatshirt priced at $45 and a T-shirt that reads “I’m Stevie to the Bulls–t,” available in black or gray for $30.

The latter phrase refers to Stevie Wonder, who is blind, and his song “Isn’t She Lovely,” which Palmer was singing to her 4-month-old son, Leodis, in an Instagram Reel announcing the merchandise.

In a message to her followers, Palmer wrote, “One thing is certain and one thing is true, IM A MOTHA, through and through!” She added, “To all my mom’s [sic] out there, how did your baby change you?? Mine empowered me!”

Palmer’s clever response to the controversy has been met with support from fans, who have praised her for standing her ground and turning a negative situation into a positive one.

As for Jackson, it seems he may have learned the hard way that when it comes to Palmer, he’s dealing with a “motha” who knows how to cash in on controversy.

Keke and Darius welcomed their son Leodis in February.

Consequence & His Son Preach “Long Overdue” Message For Hip-Hop Community

Consequence is continuing the rollout for his next solo album, Nice Doing Business With You, with the release of “Who Shot Jamal?” The track, accompanied by a powerful, cinematic video, features his 11-year-son Caiden The Crownholder, who crushes the mic with his innate rapping prowess. Through the song, the father-and-son duo swap bars about the grim reality of the seemingly endless gun violence plaguing our nation.

“‘Who Shot Jamal?’ is essentially a conversation between the Cons and Caiden as to how ‘Jamal’ was unfortunately murdered,” Consequence tells AllHipHop. “The reality in America is that there is a ‘Jamal’ in every Black community who has lost their life to senseless gun violence with many times these crimes remaining unsolved. It’s a conversation which is long overdue to be had in Hip-Hop.

“With this being the genre’s 50th Anniversary this record is in line with the lineage of records that have spoken to the occurrences that effect the very source of the art form itself.”

Consequence shared “Disappointed” in February, which is presumably included on the forthcoming album. The track found the veteran rapper showing his support of longtime friend and collaborator Kanye West. He believes people left West hanging when he needed help the most.

“My outlook is this,” he wrote at the time. “It’s easy to be self serving and ask someone for HELP, who’s in a position of Power to change your life’s trajectory. But, what happens when the tables turn and that person needs you. If you were only around for the G.O.O.D. times then you were never on OUR team to begin with. I’m Disappointed In ALOT of N#####!!!”

He also highlighted lyrics from the single: “The whole Label ran/Instead of having YE’s back/I guess crabs in a barrel/Is a curse from being Black.”

Nice Doing Business With You is scheduled for an August 4 release. Until then, watch “Who Shot Jamal?” above.

Takeoff’s Legacy Immortalized In Record-Breaking Tattoo Tribute

A monumental tribute to the late rapper Takeoff has made its mark in the Guinness World Records.

‌A staggering 79-foot tattoo dedicated to the cherished musician has set a new benchmark in the realm of body art, signifying a touching chapter in the annals of fan memorials.

‌Takeoff, a vital member of the acclaimed rap ensemble Migos, met a tragic end in a shooting incident at a Houston bowling alley in November 2022.

‌The rapper was an unintended victim when shots were fired at a private gathering. The altercation, which also injured two others, reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a dice game involving Takeoff’s uncle, Quavo.

The individual implicated in Takeoff’s murder, Patrick Xavier Clark, was formally indicted by a grand jury on May 25, 2023. Clark, who was apprehended in December 2022, spent approximately a month behind bars before being released on a $1 million bond in January 2023.

He was subsequently placed under house arrest and required to wear a GPS-tracking device. Despite the charges, Clark continues to assert his innocence and is slated for arraignment on August 23.

‌The record-setting tattoo, a tribute to Takeoff, was the collective effort of artists from Atlanta Ink, Iron Palm Tattoos, and Pèse Noir.

‌The tattoo, which required over six months of meticulous work, features a detailed depiction of Takeoff.

‌The inception of the record-breaking tattoo not only commemorates Takeoff’s enduring legacy but also underscores the devastating consequences of gun violence.

Hip-Hop Pioneer Scorpio Says Ice Spice, Scar Lip & Other Female Rappers Are “Taking Over”

Hip-Hop pioneer Scorpio of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five rolled through with a message earlier this week. While hanging backstage at a show, the trailblazing MC had a few moments to rattle off his thoughts about the current rap landscape. Mainly, he was focused on giving props to the next wave of female rappers.

“Everybody is doing their thing, females taking over,” he says in the clip. “Big up to all the sisters out there in the Bronx—Ice Spice, Scar Lip, all of them—even if it’s not your style of music, they gettin’ up out the mud, so we gotta salute.” Scorpio went on to salute a West Coast DJ by the name of DJ AK who’s “doing his thing.”

A post shared by Eddie Morris (@scorpiofurious5)

Scorpio’s sentiments are refreshing in an age where many rap newcomers are sometimes shunned by their elders. But Scorp knows a thing or two about coming up in the music business. With a career that stretches back decades, the Hip-Hop OG has witnessed the culture’s evolution since its inception. He was only 18 years old when Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five released “The Message” in July 1982, one of the most important Hip-Hop tracks in music history.

“The Message” is often considered the first socio-political rap song, with its lyrics depicting a solemn portrait of their New York City environment. As kids, the group didn’t see Sylvia Robinson’s vision for the song at first, but the Sugar Hill Records founder/CEO trusted her instincts. Written in 1980 by Duke Bootee and Melle Mel as a response to the 1980 New York City transit strike, the track details the violence and poverty surrounding them with lines such as, “Broken glass everywhere/People pissing on the stairs, you know they just don’t care/I can’t take the smell, can’t take the noise/Got no money to move out, I guess I got no choice.”

Speaking on the 40th anniversary of “The Message” in July 2022, Scorpio explained how the song signaled the end of their youth. He said, “I think one of the important things about that song is it just have us trusting in things that we didn’t trust in sometimes. Like with music, you gotta get out of your own ego. Because realistically, we hated that song. We couldn’t stand that song. We didn’t think that it had no reality to us, but thank God Ms. Robinson had the better vision.

“Thinking, because we was coming from the Bronx, that it’ll match better versus putting it with somebody else, or whatever the case may be. So just trusting in other people was the biggest lesson. We don’t have all of the answers. No artists have all of the answers.”

It’s not dissimilar to what young rappers are doing today—describing their environments and what they experience in their own neighborhoods. Like many of his peers, Scorpio is celebrating Hip-Hop’s 50th birthday all year long—with the young and “old.” He concludes in the clip, “50 years of Hip-Hop in the m###########’ building. Stop playin’.”

Georgia Mother Arrested After Dragging Young Daughter By Her Locs

A Georgia mother is reportedly facing charges after a video of her abusing her daughter went viral. The footage, which has sparked national outrage, shows Samarria Mona White dragging the child by her dreadlocks through a grass field in Macon. As the mother tosses the girl around, she shouts expletives as the little girl begs her to stop.

White, who according to court records was arrested on July 5 around 4:30 p.m. local time, faces cruelty to children charges in the first degree. The 20-second clip was filmed by neighbor Gwen Harris-McKenzie’s niece, who later posted it on social media. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office became aware of the incident shortly afer.

https://twitter.com/Quan_follwers/status/1676814312726249473/video/2

At first, the mother denied doing anything wrong, Yahoo! Life reports. However, when the child was taken to the hospital, medical professionals noted she had redness on her chest that was turning into a bruise.

Harris-McKenzie said in a Facebook post she had “more videos” of the abuse.

“I was at work but called along with other people on my way back to Macon,” she wrote. “All 3 kids were taken by ambulance and she was arrested. No, I don’t know her or her name. Her kids just play outside with mine and they have said this isn’t the worst she has done that they have seen, they just finally caught it on camera.”

The concerned neighbor continued,  writing in her post, “It’s a difference between discipline and abuse. I have me and my sister’s kids and yes I can say kids can be BAD, don’t like to listen and can lie! But nothing can justify what was said and done to that lil girl.”

White is currently in jail with a $20,000 bond.

Wiz Khalifa Sells “Black & Yellow” As Part Of Massive Catalog Acquisition

Wiz Khalifa is joining a growing number of artists who are selling their catalogs for big money. According to a press release, several of Khalifa’s#### singles—including “Black & Yellow,” “See You Again” and “The Thrill”—have been acquired in a new deal with HarbourView Equity Partners. Although the terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed, HarbourView confirmed it purchased “select” recorded music and publishing assets. Khalifa’s independent record, management company and lifestyle brand Taylor Gang is included in the deal.

“Sherrese [Clarke Soares, founder and CEO of HarbourView] and HarbourView truly understand the value of music and artistry,” Wiz Khalifa said. “We are excited to partner with them as they continue to build a dynamic media company that is in line with the values and goals we all have here at Taylor Gang.”

Wiz Khalifa has been pumping out music since 2005’s Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvani mixtape through Rostrum Recordings. Since then, he’s released seven studio albums, one compilation album, one soundtrack album, three extended plays (EP) and two collaborative albums. He’s also released 84 singles (including 44 as a featured artist), 16 promotional singles, 21 mixtapes and 82 music videos. Needless to say, there was a lot to sift through.

Khalifa was signed to Warner Bros. in 2006, shortly after releasing his debut studio album, Show & Prove. By 2010, he’d moved over to Atlantic Records, where he saw a meteoric rise in notoriety. Khalifa’s first single for the label, “Black & Yellow,” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was later certified 6x-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The Wiz Khalifa deal comes shortly after HarbourView Equity Partners acquired half of Nelly’s catalog for $50 million. The deal includes some of Nelly’s most iconic tracks, including “Ride Wit Me,” “Dilemma” featuring Kelly Rowland and, of course, “Hot in Herre.”

Jay-Z Expands Roc Nation Sports Into Brazil With Major Acquistion

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports has acquired a new agency, expanding its reach into South America.

The rap mogul’s sports management company reportedly bought Brazilian soccer agency TFM, the home of several of the nation’s biggest talents, including Vinicius José Paixão de Oliveira Júnior, Gabriel Teodoro Martinelli and Endrick  Felipe Moreira de Sousa.

The recent acquisition won’t be incredibly disruptive to the Sao Paulo office’s setup but will prompt TFM to change its name to Roc Nation Sports Brazil, according to Khel Now.

Frederico Pena, TFM’s founder, will serve as the director of Roc Nation’s Brazilian office.

Roc Nation was created in 2008 as a management company for artists. In 2018, the entity established a sports division and started to manage Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Victor Cruz of the New York Giants.

Now, the company represents 200 athletes from all across the United States in various sporting spaces including rugby, cricket, soccer, basketball, baseball and football.

In addition to managing athletes, the company also consults for leading sporting leagues such as the National Football League, AC Milan and the United Rugby League.

‌The officials added, “Refunds will automatically be issued at point of purchase.”

The “Single Ladies” singer’s website has since been amended to reflect the recent change to her tour schedule.

“People are FLIPPING OOOOUUT!!! NO,” one user lamented, while another wrote, “I can’t even take my refund and go get ticket at another show because the resale prices are extremely high.”

Rapper Marlo’s Family Still Looking For Answers Regarding His Murder

Atlanta rapper Marlo was murdered three years ago this summer, and his father is still fighting for justice.

According to WSB-TV, Rudolph Johnson Sr., has been working with local authorities to help find the suspect responsible for his namesake’s premature demise. To date, detectives at the Atlanta Police Department haven’t publicly identified anyone responsible for his July 10, 2020 death.

Marlo, whose rap career was on an upward trajectory, was killed when he was only 30 years old.

“Why would somebody do that to my son?” Rudolph Johnson Sr. said. “In three years, nobody has been charged with his murder and all we want is justice for our son.”

Police reports state officers were notified moments before midnight about a car accident on I-285 South, just west of downtown near the Benjamin E. Mays Drive overpass.

When they moved in to inspect the crash, they discovered Marlo slumped in the vehicle. He was fatally shot, apparently a victim of a homicide. Detectives say they’re still investigating the motives but have no clear answers for the family.

The lack of progress continues to plague the father, who says he still can’t believe his son is dead. He’s also vowed to keep searching for answers to ensure his son gets the justice he deserves.

Drake Vs. Childish Gambino Debate Explodes On Twitter Following “Overrated” Diss

Drake kicked off the It’s All A Blur Tour with 21 Savage earlier this week. Unsurprisingly, he’s making headlines for his performance, onstage banter and his growing collection of fans’ bras. As the run continues, Drake is currently a trending Twitter topic—but for different reasons.

During the Chicago stop on July 5, a series of headlines scrolled across the screen as Drake performed “Headlines” from 2011’s Take Care. One of them read: “The overrated and over awarded hit song ‘This Is America’ was originally a Drake diss record.” The claim stemmed from an interview Childish Gambino—who wrote “This Is America”—did in April in which he confessed to his initial intentions.

“I had the idea three years before,” Gambino told GQ at the time. “I told [director] Hiro [Murai] the idea, and he’s like, ‘I really want to do that.’ The idea for the song started as a joke. To be completely honest, ‘This is America’ — that was all we had was that line. It started as a Drake diss, to be honest, as like a funny way of doing it. But then I was like, this s### sounds kind of hard though. So I was like, let me play with it.”

The ensuing social media debate pitted Drake against Childish Gambino in terms of their singing prowesses. And, frankly, it’s not looking good for Drake. People are overwhelmingly Team Gambino.

“Childish Gambino washes Drake let’s be real,” one person wrote, while another said, “Drake clears Childish Gambino in every single way, please don’t feed this debate.” But people couldn’t help it. As one person pointed out, “Drake can’t do what Gambino can do. Gambino can do everything Drake does.”

While Drake is often credited for helping to integrate singing with rap, Childish Gambino’s talent is almost otherworldly, evidenced by his versatility. From songs such as “.IV Sweatpants” to “Redbone,” Gambino flexes his range on multiple projects. Nonetheless, the debate wages on. Check out some of the reactions below.

T.I. To Make TV Stand-Up Debut In ‘Comic View’ Reboot With Kevin Hart

Many Grand Hustle fans are aware T.I. fancies himself as a comedian. The Hustle Gang boss has practiced his stand-up career with a live audience and didn’t receive the best response.

On April 9, 2022, Tip faced a negative response from a live audience. According to reports, the crowd inside Brooklyn’s Barclays Center booed the Paper Trail album creator’s set at the April Fools Comedy Jam.

Now, T.I. will appear in a reboot of the iconic comedy series Comic View produced by Kevin Hart, according to Yahoo! Entertainment.

Comic View, which originally aired on BET from 1992 to 2008, quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The show provided a platform for up-and-coming African-American comedians to showcase their talent and connect with a wider audience. It played a pivotal role in launching the careers of many now-famous comedians, including Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer and D.L. Hughley.

“I’m thrilled to partner with BET for the return of ‘Comic View’ as part of Hartbeat Weekend making this can’t-miss celebration of comedy, music and culture,” Hart said in a statement. “Having hosted ‘Comic View’ in the past, I understand first-hand the incredible platform this franchise offers for comedians to showcase their talents on a national stage and I’m excited to continue that tradition in Las Vegas.”

Hosted by Mike Epps, the reboot will feature many others appearing alongside “Rubberband Man,” including Tommy Davidson, Tacarra Williams, Tony T. Roberts, Bresha Webb, and D.C. Young Fly.

Hart’s entertainment company will produce the comedy franchise as part of a four-day Hartbeat weekend event in Las Vegas celebrating his 44th birthday from July 6 to 9.

The Comic View showcase is part of a larger lineup that will feature live musical performances from J. Cole, Jack Harlow, Ludacris, PartyNextDoor and Kaskade.

Hart will also perform, rounding off the night.

Dave East Gives A Glimpse Of Legends On New Album

We were personally invited to join Dave East at an intimate Def Jam listening session for his highly anticipated album, Fortune Favors The Bold. We got good music, food, and even some tasty wine.

Our early verdict is Fortune Favors The Bold will be East’s magnum opus. It features a star-studded lineup of artists including Tyga, Ty Dolla Sign, Coi Leray, G-Eazy, and many more. But that’s not all! During the exclusive event, we also heard Jadakiss, Ghostface, Stacy Barthe, Cordae, DJ Kid Capri, and MORE!

Dave East is a Grammy-nominated rapper AND a vet at this point. He treated the crowd of press and influencers to a taste of what was to come. He did NOT play every song is full so people were definitely hungering for me. Not to mention those bites of food were not a full meal. I kid. East has already shaken things up with “WDGAF” featuring G-Eazy.

“WDGAF” is the first collaboration between Dave East and G-Eazy, and it’s produced by Mike WiLL Made-It. “That joint is a bop. It’s a different tempo and sound I’ve never tapped into. I’m bragging, and you can’t shut me up! I’d never collaborated with G-Eazy before, and it was mad fun,” he said.

By the way Fortune Favors The Bold, was inspired by pop culture. I can’t lie: I thought East had been reading up on Virgil or something! “I Googled John Wick’s tattoo,” Dave explained. “I thought about what Fortune Favors The Bold meant to me, and it totally fit the album. I had to be bold to continue doing what I’m doing and dealing with all of the hate, the love, and the s### I’ve dealt with. I never let it affect my journey. I’ve seen a lot of fortune I didn’t know I was going to see by being bold and not taking ‘No’ for an answer. This is a statement.”

July 14th – Fortune Favors The Bold will be unleashed upon the world. Salute East for sharing some of the vision.

50 Cent Uses White Party Photo To Suggest Lil Baby & Diddy Are Gay

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has once again targeted his fellow Hip Hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs (fka Puff Daddy) on social media. This time, the G-Unit head also trolled Atlanta-bred recording artist Lil Baby.

Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin and Camille Fishel hosted their annual White Party at their Hamptons home on Monday, July 3. Numerous celebrities, including Lil Baby, attended the event celebrating Independence Day.

Rubin and Fishel invited dozens of stars to the Long Island estate. Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Usher, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Brady, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Travis Scott, Kevin Hart, Kevin Durant, and others showed up for the function.

50 Cent posted a photograph from the White Party to his Instagram page. In the picture, two men can be seen hugging a smiling Lil Baby. The photo’s caption purposely implied the three partygoers were engaged in a homosexual act.

“See this is why I don’t go to no party Puffy and them at. 👀 Da f### is going on here? 🤦‍♂️😤Get the f## off my young 🥷🏾. WTF!” wrote 50 Cent on the Meta-owned platform. That post amassed more than 340,000 likes.

50 Cent’ Instagram Post

Diddy Has Been The Butt Of 50 Cent’s Gay Jokes For Years

50 Cent has an extensive history of publicly questioning Diddy’s sexuality. Back in 2014, the Queens native used separate photos of Combs with Rick Ross and Steve Stoute to push the narrative that the Harlem-bred entrepreneur could be gay.

Three years later, 50 circulated a photo of Diddy with openly gay filmmaker Lee Daniels as another possible example that the Bad Boy Entertainment founder has a sexual attraction to men. Diddy addressed 50’s constant gay jokes in 2018.

“I don’t have no beef with Fif. He loves me. Y’all can’t see that he loves me? You really think that’s hate?” said Diddy in an interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club radio show. “You know he loves me.”

The “I Need a Girl (Part One)” hitmaker also added, “I respect that [he works hard]. I don’t even think of no other man. If I’m thinking about another man, I’m thinking about uplifting. All them gnats, they can’t really touch me.”

There has also been speculation that 50 Cent is actually part of the LGBTQ community. His ex-girlfriend, Vivica A. Fox, insinuated the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ album creator was bisexual when she said he looked like a “booty snatcher” on an XXL magazine cover with Soulja Boy.

Rowdy Rebel Reacts To Claims He Was Robbed Of His Jewelry

Rowdy Rebel insisted he was not the victim of robbery after rumors surfaced on social media.

The Brooklyn-bred rapper clarified what happened in an Instagram Stories post on Friday (July 7). He said someone did steal from him, but the incident happened while he was sleeping.

“Rob what!” he wrote. “N#### stole out my sleep.”

The thief shared images of Rowdy Rebel’s pendant and watch on social media, which led to the robbery rumor. An account called New York Source tagged the rapper and claimed he was robbed, prompting him to speak out via Instagram.

Rowdy Rebel previously showed off his lavish jewelry collection in a video for GQ. His collection included $30,000 rings and a $60,000 watch. He also owned a glow-in-the-dark pendant that’s worth $100,000.

Most of the rapper’s jewelry was crafted by Eric The Jeweler.

Rowdy Rebel spent several years in prison before getting released in December 2020. The Bobby Shmurda affiliate pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree conspiracy and one count of weapons possession in a highly publicized case against GS9 members. He remains on parole until 2025.

YNW Melly Trial: Judge Blocks Jury From Viewing Vehicle At Center Of Murders

YNW Melly’s defense team scored a minor victory in his ongoing murder trial on Friday (July 7).

Judge John Murphy rejected the prosecution’s request to allow jurors to view the vehicle in which YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser were killed. Judge Murphy did not think it was necessary for the jury to see the actual car when photos were available.

“I don’t think it’s gonna assist the jury in any great degree in analyzing the evidence,” the judge said. “So, respectfully, the motion is denied.”

YNW Melly is on trial for first-degree murder in Florida. Prosecutors accuse him of shooting and killing his friends YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser in 2018.

The trial has been in recess since June 30. It is scheduled to resume on Monday (July 10).

YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges. He faces the death penalty if convicted.

The rapper’s alleged accomplice YNW Bortlen will be tried separately in October. Prosecutors claim YNW Bortlen helped YNW Melly stage a drive-by shooting to cover up the murders.

A crime scene reconstruction expert told jurors the shooter was inside the vehicle with YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser. A medical examiner’s testimony confirmed the victims were shot multiple times after they were already dead.
