Krayzie Bone nearly died in September after an artery burst inside his left lung. As he was playing Xbox one night, he began coughing up blood, and his wife soon insisted he go to the hospital. Initially, the Bone Thugs-n-Harmony MC wasn’t too concerned considering something similar had happened before. In 2016 he was diagnosed with pulmonary sarcoidosis, a rare lung condition brought on by inflammation and coughing up blood wasn’t too uncommon. Although he was later told he’d been in remission, his lungs clearly weren’t functioning properly.
On September 25, he walked into UCLA’s Ronald Regan Medical Center in Los Angeles and woke up 10 days later. Doctors had been forced to put him in a medically induced coma after they failed to get the bleeding to stop. His lung bled for three days and on the fourth day, doctors finally got it under control. But it was touch and go for awhile. Death rumors flooded Twitter (X) and several members of Bone Thugs and Krayzie’s family rushed to be by his side. They were told he might not make it.
But on December 9, Krayzie Bone did his first post-hospital interview with SPIN magazine, a welcome sign he was on the other side of the terrifying ordeal. Krayzie’s first performance with Bone Thugs since his release is in L.A. on Saturday (December 16), although doctors have restricted his travel for the rest of the year. In an interview with AllHipHop, Krayzie Bone talked about how his wife persevered, being so sedated he attempted to pull out his breathing tube and what 2024 looks like.
AllHipHop: How did your wife handle this?
Krayzie Bone: It was rough on her. But she was a trooper. The doctors even told her she should look into working in the medical field ‘cause she was basically doing every there like she was part of the nursing team. They said it’s good for when a person is coming off coming out a coma, they prefer to have family members there when people wake up because people panic when they wake up, and it calms you down when you have your family member there. During COVID, they did a study and when people’s family couldn’t be by their side, the death toll rose even higher. It was like so they had to start letting people back in there to visit to be with their family members because they were dying left and right.
Do you remember any weird dreams or hallucinations brought on by the medications?
Krayzie Bone: They tried to wake me up one time and I wouldn’t come out of it, so they had to put me back down because I was banging my head back and forth on the bed. I was banging my feet on the bed so the doctor was like, “Let’s put them back down. He’s he’s too active.” They put me back down for a day or two, but when I was coming out, I remember waking up and thinking, “What the hell happened? How did I end up in here? Where am I? What is going on?”
In the ICU, they have a nurse at your door, so I noticed she would get up every now and then. In my head, I’m like, “Next time she gets up to leave, I’m about to make a run for it [laughs].” I didn’t know where I was running to, but I was trying to get up out of there. I kept trying to explain to my wife I was just frustrated because I couldn’t talk. I kept telling her that this was all a dream. I kept pointing to the clock and she was like, “I don’t I don’t understand what you’re saying.” Plus, they had me restrained.
I don’t know how I did it, but I managed to break the restraint and I went straight for the tube in my mouth and tried to pull it out. Next thing I know, there’s like three or four doctors rushing me. One of them was like, “Mr. Henderson, if you love what you do, you will never try to do that again. You will destroy your entire vocal box.” That was the only thing. When I woke up, I did think I was in a dream. I was laying there like, “God, if I’m dreaming right now, please wake me up.”
Krayzie Bone: I was planning to release some projects, but with everything that happened, I had to push those back. I’m looking to release my Chase The Devil Vol. 2 project if not late January, early February. I have several solo releases lined up. Next year is also Bone Thugs’ 30-year anniversary, so we’re going to be very active. We have some things planned with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which hopefully includes a nomination to be inducted. We’re gonna be real busy. As far as touring, that’s still up in the air because I feel like it’s time for me to come off the road for a while.
There’s still so much that we can be doing, so many things we need to solidify as far as our legacy that’s been on the road. I feel like the fans can wait a few years until we get solidify our legacy then come back and do a big world tour. I have a real estate thing going on that’s part of rebuilding Cleveland and am also working on my Spread the Love Foundation and two new reality television series. One is called Wing Man and we go around to different restaurants all over the world train their chicken wings.
AllHipHop: Can you handle the hot ones?
Krayzie Bone: I don’t mess with the spicy hot s###. For real. But yeah, the second one I have is Bridging the Rap. You know how the young generation and older generations of hip-hop clash? I want to bridge that gap, so I’m calling it Bridging the Rap. We need to learn more about each other. Ice-T and Souja Boy, Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim—there’s all kinds of beefs like that—so I want to bring everybody together as one.
AllHipHop:Why do you think your life was spared?
Krayzie Bone: The most important one is because Jehovah God was there. He heard all the prayers far and wide. Two, I appreciate those doctors for taking the time out and really studying me to see what the problem is before rushing in and opening me up. They recognized what I needed. All the support I had. The doctors kept telling me, “You kept trying to come out of this. You were not trying to leave this Earth.”
Yo, check this out! This sucks, everybody. But I have to do it. There’s a battle on Saturday (December 16) and it’s not going to be pretty. Eazy The Block Captain versus John John Da Don is on the horizon and it’s not pretty. First of all, the battle is going down in Philly, the home of Eazy. Second of all, John John has leaked audio that has Eazy speaking candidly about the situation between Papoose and Remy Ma.
First of all, he confirms he was struck two times by Pap. In the audio, he maintains he was not bleeding, but he does say he was hit. Secondly, he admits that he was laying up with Pap’s wife, the one and only Remy Ma. We love Remy and Pap over here, so this is full-blown anxiety.

Anyway, what do you think? Sounds like there was a bag, but that bag may be getting away from him. Will this make it to Love & Hip-Hop? I doubt it.n Maybe they can start a new show called “Love & Battle Rap” or something. I think we are reeling over the loss of our “Black love” couple. I could be wrong. This is just the latest in a series of gossip surrounding these people.
The streets have been talking but Remy brushed it off like it was nothing. Blogger Tasha K dropped a picture of them having a meal together and then the Geechi Gotti “thing” happened. Geechi got all up in it during a battle – TALKING STRAIGHT TO REMY:
“I don’t give a f##k if you’re f###### this n##ga, just tell him to stop screwing the business. Y’all the poster child symbol for Black love. Every interview he show his admiration and tell the world how he think his woman the greatest. N##ga he held you down in prison for six years, I know it was not nice, he cried big tears. He stood by you by your biggest accomplishments front row giving you big cheers. Man you got a beautiful baby girl who is also amazing. He’ll be damned if he lose you to this bozo in braces. Listen he took you out to the best foods, when you ain’t feeling good he put you back in the best moods!”
Now, Remy and Papoose have been married for 15 years, and they were a thing even before they tied the knot. They’ve got a daughter, Reminisce MacKenzie Jr., and they’re dope parents. So far, the parents have been quiet about all of this. Why is Eazy messing it up!? Can this somehow work out? Leave a comment!
If you are into battle rap, look for Eazy The Block Captain vs John John Da Don later.
Matthew Perry’s cause of death has just been determined by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. According to TMZ, the toxicology report identified Perry’s death was partly caused by “the acute effects of ketamine.” Perry was reportedly taking ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety in the week-and-a-half leading up to his death. Ketamine is a drug that’s used both recreationally and, as mentioned, to treat depression. Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy every other day for an unknown period of time up until six months before his death when a physician decided he no longer needed regular treatment.
The medical examiner determined the ketamine in Perry’s system at the time of his death “could not be from that infusion therapy, since ketamine’s half-life is three to four hours, or less.” Based on the levels of ketamine in the Friends star’s system, he experienced both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression. Other contributing factors listed in Perry’s death were drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects, a substance used to treat opioid addiction.
The medical examiner added there was no evidence of alcohol and methamphetamine cocaine, heroin PCP or fentanyl in Perry’s system. He’d allegedly been clean and sober for 19 months. The report also states that the 54-year-old smoked two packs of cigarettes a day, had COPD/emphysema and diabetes.
Perry died on October 28 at his home in the Pacific Palisades. He’d just accepted a new movie role and moved into a new home three weeks before his death. Sources close to the actor claimed he’d never been “happier.”
Meek Mill is addressing a viral clip in which he got emotional. On Friday (December 15), he joined Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro for a bill signing ceremony to celebrate the passage of probation reform.
“We grew up in the streets,” Meek said at the event inside Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center. “We try to be better, but they labeled us ‘felons,’ sent us back to jail. I had to fight against that the whole time to gain my respect and be who I am today. And I’m proud of that.”
Meek Mill began to tear up as he spoke to the media. The Philadelphia-bred rapper spent many years on probation in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He now serves as a Co-Chair of the REFORM Alliance non-profit organization.
In addition, Meek Mill posted on Instagram about helping to get the bill passed in his home state. The 36-year-old Expensive Pain album creator also addressed his teary speech in a social media message.
As a Founding Partner of the REFORM Alliance alongside billionaires like Michael Rubin and Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter, Meek Mill has played a role in assisting several states to pass criminal justice reform laws. REFORM also successfully lobbied legislatures in California, Michigan, Louisiana and Virginia.
Being an independent artist is no easy task, but Prof continues to deliver nothing but bangers to his fanbase. Most recently, he dropped a new video for the single “Pack A Lunch” featuring Redman from his albumHORSE. The fun, uptempo record is paired with an equally exciting, cinematic visual, with the Wu-Tang Clan affiliate even traveling to Prof’s side of the country for the video shoot.
HORSE, his sixth studio album, boasts additional standout features from Method Man, Kevin Gates and Cozz. Thanks to his loyal fans, Prof already received a Billboard plaque for the album, not even six months into its release.
In addition to the new music, anyone who’s a Prof fan knows how lit his live shows are, one of the most fulfilling parts of his rap career—being able to entertain and lay it all on the stage. The other is making unforgettable music and memories with his loved ones, something that has always fueled his artistry from the jump.
AllHipHop spoke with Prof virtually to discuss his love for performing, collaborating with Redman, the independent grind and more.
AllHipHop: How’s tour been this time around?
Prof: Tour’s crazy. Very, very good. I’m very lucky. It’s wild to see, the growth is crazy. I was at a point where I was getting used to it. I come back to cities again and again and again, the crowds grow. But there was a lot of times during this West Coast tour that I was like, “Wow!” In the middle of my songs, I’d be looking at people like who the f### is she? What is she doing here? She knows all my lyrics! There’s a thousand people in the crowd, over and over and over again every night. I was a little bit taken aback more than usual.
AllHipHop: Especially during a time where some of the newer artists can’t sell out shows. You’ve built a super dedicated fanbase independently, it’s very admirable.
Prof: I appreciate that. I work hard on stage. That’s the one thing I’m grasping at people, like I don’t want to lose you. I got that attitude of doing it all myself. There’s been so many years where I was living in poverty wages, trying to be a rapper. I still have that attitude. I can’t take a show off. I don’t want to lose you as a fan, so I go super hard every night.
AllHipHop: What is the preparation for a show? Do you get nervous?
Prof: I get the butterflies. If you were to be a fly on the wall, you’d probably think I’m a little weirdo. I get pumped up more than usual. I’ll be at festivals, I’ll be backstage and I’ll see a rapper talking to people. “Oh yeah alright, hold up. I’ll holla at you later,” then they go on stage. I can’t be doing that.
I have my routines. I’m back there going crazy like, “Ahhhh!” Like I’m about to play a full contact football game. I’m jumping around. People are looking at me, I’m spitting out water. Pumping my chest, talking s###. People are like, “Look at this f###### idiot, who does this man think he is?” I gotta treat it like every show was the most important show I’ve ever done. I’ve done so many, I don’t want to get disinterested in it. I don’t want that to happen. Be up there just walking back and forth, spitting my s###. I don’t want to be doing that.

AllHipHop: Is performing the best part of the artistry for you?
Prof: No. It’s probably my best part that I’m the best at, but it’s really really hard. I’ve been doing it for so long. Right now, I’m on a little break. I’ll be in Texas performing November 16, 17 and 19. But after that, I’ll have a decent break for winter. It’s a lot of hard work. Last time I was in LA, I stage dove and cracked my ribs. The rest of the tour was super hard for me to breathe and to move around.
My favorite part is making new music, still. It gives me a really fulfilling high. But a huge crack in that show, getting off stage is very rewarding. Putting on an amazing show, a sellout show in front of thousands of people. Getting off stage is a good feeling too.
AllHipHop: Speaking of new music, what’s one thing you want fans to get from HORSE?
Prof: The album [laughs]. Get the album, listen to it. We did this thing where I’d sign every copy. My fans bought a shitload and we charted on Billboard, super independent. It’s the No. 8 record across all genres. The whole world, we were the #8 record for a little bit. I want them to get the record, I want to listen to it. Whatever they want to get from that, that’s up to them. I just made it for me. Whatever they’re going through, they can interpret it however they want.

AllHipHop: I love “Pack A Lunch” with Redman. It’s such a fun song. When was it created?
Prof: I came up with the chorus on a video shoot for “Animal Patrol.” We got my bros together, we rented some huge mansion, cabin. We got drunk for the weekend. We went in not knowing what we’re going to shoot, we just had fun. There was no script, no plans. I came up with the chorus with the homie, my DJ, one of my best friends Willie Wonka. Just waiting, in between takes.
A dance track would be funny. “Pack A Lunch” is funny. Go to work, pop that ass. They’ve all been said before: break it down low, da da da. Go to work, pack a lunch! We started repeating “pack a lunch.” It was born in a really fun party atmosphere. We were having fun, clowning. That was the chorus. I found the beat to it. I listened to my songs and I critique them walking around the block. I go for walks, listening to them. Get the blood moving.
Redman just came down from the heavens. In my head, boom! It’s gotta be him. This will be perfect, because it’s such a silly, stupid, fun song. He came down and bust open my head. I don’t know how I thought of him. Out of all rappers in the whole world, he’d be the one that’d kill this s###. I reached out, cold call through some management. He said, “Can I get this dude’s number?” My manager Mikey’s like, “Can I give him your number? He wants to talk to you.” Say less. Let’s go!
Since then, we’ve been good friends. He was very involved in a song. He took more bars than 16. He’s like “Can I do more?” S###, let’s go. It was incredible working with him. He really is that dude. He’s super low key, low maintenance. Superstar! I love that s###.
AllHipHop: The synergy you guys had in the music video, I would’ve assumed you guys were friends for years.
Prof: I’ve seen him backstage at Red Rocks [Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado]. We performed Red Rocks together. We chopped it up after the song was already made. We’re chillin’ backstage, the vibe is cool. But that was the first time I spent time with him. For him to fly out to Minnesota like that, spend a few days. Not only one day, but two straight full days of shooting. He was with the s###.
AllHipHop: Best memory from the video shoot?
Prof: One of my favorite memories was the first time we even sat down in the car. We took this classic car, we were performing the verses to get ready. It was the very first performance, the song went on. Let’s get warmed up, see what happens.
I hadn’t really worked with people of that stature. I’ve been on the grind so long and such a good performance, I take pride in my s###. To have him jump in, he knew all my words. He had the homework done. When it came down to his verse, I knew his s###. I was already answering the lines, we’re going back and forth without even talking about anything. Wow, the dude is a natural born f###### killer.
Everybody started clapping after that first take. That memory, that moment right there, I knew the whole weekend was gonna be s###. Everything is gonna be fine. All the anxiety went away, it was fun after that. We’re gonna kill this s###. The end of that first take was crazy.
AllHipHop: What are “Squad Goals”?
Prof: What good is life if you’re not sharing it with anybody? A good f###### crazy memory. If I’m by myself, if I’m not running around laughing hysterically, I’d much rather share a good moment with people. This wild lifestyle. The song “Squad Goals” is if I’m doing this crazy rap s###, I gotta have everybody involved in this s###. All my best friends are in those. If you do a deep dive on my music videos, you’ll see the same dudes over and over and over again. Because that’s my crew, we have fun.
AllHipHop: Eleven million views on a YouTube video isn’t bad, especially for an independent artist. How does it feel to see those numbers?
Prof: Aw s###, kind of normal. I’ve been doing music videos for a really long time. It’s what I’m best at: coming up with a treatment, working with directors. I’m really really hands on to all that s###. From the beginning of my career, that was what Prof was known for. I’ve been slowly seeing those numbers go up and up and up and up.
My first million view video was super long ago. I had another video that was two million, then another one three million, four million, five million. I have 15 to 20 videos over three to five million. It happened progressively, it’s just numbers to me. It’s hard for me to really get a grasp of what that really means. It’s slow numbers growing for me is all it really is. When I’m doing a live show. I can see the crowd. I can feel the energy, it’s louder and bigger. But as far as YouTube numbers, cool we beat the last one. That’s all it is.
AllHipHop: Do you miss battle rapping?
Prof: Yeah, I do. That was a long time ago, it dates me. Who battle raps anymore? But that’s how I came up. It’s how I made a name for myself in Minneapolis, on the corners. Real grimy ass bars, outside battle rapping. Getting into fist fights, getting drunk and debauchery. The energy was there man, it was crazy. It was how I cut my teeth, how I got confidence in my performance. To control a whole corner with 50 people on there, have everybody screaming “ohhhh!” at the end of it. Pushing me around, capping on someone. That was a crazy feeling. I do miss it.
AllHipHop: Do you prefer freestyles or music videos?
Prof: True freestyling, I miss that s###. I used to do it all the time. I used to do it all the time, 3 or 4 times a week. I’d get together with my best friends. When the night came, time to get turnt up, I wasn’t even trying to holler at no girls or nothing. I was with my bros: let’s go to the basement, smoke some weed. It was my go-to, #1 number one thing to do. It was hot.
But now, all those acquaintances or best friends that were rapping with me, they needed to get jobs and s###. I don’t freestyle anymore. I don’t have anybody I get together with and they’re like “let’s freestyle right now.” Even new rappers. People say I’m an OG. But when it comes down to it, the new rappers don’t know how to freestyle. I haven’t got together and did a true cypher. Tading 8 bars or going around the circle, I haven’t done that in years.
It’s a totally different thing. A freestyle and a music video are two separate worlds I can’t even compare.
AllHipHop: Any goals for yourself at this point of your career?
Prof: I’ve achieved a lot of my goals. I used to write them down. I remember writing down goals like “sell out first show, Minneapolis.” There was one year I thought I was going to do it that year, but then it took 8 or 10 years. But now, that’s 8 or 10 years ago.
I want to tour in an official tour bus. I’ve been the broke man’s version, I’m in a bandwagon right now. That was a huge goal for me. Now I want to be on a bigger bus and tour more comfortably with suspension. I want to be doing 2000 cap venues all across the nation, within a year. I’m doing 1000 cap venues across the nation right now, I never thought I’d do that right now.
But I’m here now. S###, let’s do 2000 cap. Tour more comfortably, eat better on the road. I’m at that moment right now where I’m happy with my money. I’m not worried about s### financially anymore.
AllHipHop: How long into your career until you felt that?
Prof: It’s funny, I was just looking at the breakdown year by year how much I made through Stophouse. It was a long time making poverty wages, 20 grand a year. 25, 30 grand a year for 10 years. After the lockdown, when I released Powderhorn Suites, that was a Billboard charting record. I toured that, that’s when it started. I started getting comfortable around lockdown, 2020. Now, I don’t care about that anymore.
I stopped writing down my goals, I just want to make my art now. I don’t really have financial goals anymore. I’m pretty satisfied with money really quickly. I don’t want a Bentley. I don’t want a Ferrari. If you see me in a Ferrari, something changed my life. Because I’d much rather get a $100,000 car, give the $900,000 in charity. That’s what’s on my mind right now. Or the people around me, getting them straight. It’s not so much goals anymore, it’s continuing to make my art. Making good s###.
AllHipHop: Any dream collabs?
Prof: I’m about to send out some collabs. I released Horse in April or May this year, then I toured all year. I just got back home and started getting creative again. I got eight to 10 songs I got a chorus and a verse on, I want to send them out now. I still haven’t even put anything out there yet, but I have ideas and people I’d love to collab with. But nothing new in the books now.
AllHipHop:Anything else you want to let the people know?
That I love you. You’re perfect just the way you are.
Keep an eye on Prof’s socials and Youtube for ongoing new content, music videos, freestyles and exclusive story time about the behind-the-scenes of his videos or life on tour.
Dame Dash unleashed more venom directed at Lyor Cohen in an interview with AllHipHop’s Chuck Creekmur and DJ Thoro. The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder bashed Cohen for making disrespectful comments and exploiting people in the music industry.
“I feel like in the music business, I benched Lyor because he’s a culture vulture,” Dame Dash said. “But then he went over to YouTube and he became the person that pacifies everybody while they rob everybody of their CPMs and their data, period. So, when you see someone creates a 360 deal or something that doesn’t behoove the artist in one industry, how do you trust them in another?”
He continued, “Why would you not expect me to torture you in public every chance I get? So, you shouldn’t have did it. And now I’m on your head, Lyor. Nobody’s scared of you. And for some reason, your algorithm is us beefing with each other.”
Dame desired some type of showdown with Cohen. Dame wished he could fight Cohen in a celebrity boxing match, but he said Cohen was too old for it to be fair.
“I would beat the—and I wouldn’t even do that because that’s not even what I‘m about,” he told AllHipHop. “Lyor was old when I was young. He was old 20 years ago to me. He looks like if I blow him on him, he’ll fall apart.”
Dame thought twice about putting his hands on YouTube’s Global Head of Music, but he still wished ill on Cohen.
“[He’s] a person that I see that people respect, people celebrate, that’s robbing us while we celebrate him,” Dame said. “And someone that tried to erase our culture. Someone that’s invented a system of robbing us in different verticals from our clothing rights to our show rights. And then someone that’s not making us understand CPMs or data when they’re taking it all from us. I just think that person should be on the back of a milk box.”
Check out AllHipHop’s entire conversation with Dame below.
Sexyy Red refused to accept any blame for her sex tape getting posted on Instagram Stories. The raunchy rapper denied uploading the video for promo and tried to explain how it appeared on her social media in an interview with The Breakfast Club.
“That was the wackest video,” she said. “I was tired. I was fat, pregnant, didn’t even feel like doing s### on there. And then that’s the one that f###### gets leaked.”
She continued, “It was in the moment and then set the phone down, but I ain’t the one that did it. It was him who set the phone down, threw it and then it had accidentally pressed.”
The mishap did not convince Sexyy Red to delete NSFW videos on her phone. She showed no concern for more leaks and boasted about the material in her vault.
“Nobody broke into my phone,” she said. “I already know what happened. I could really be a star if I post the real stuff.”
Charlamagne Tha God pressed Sexyy Red on the exact way her sex tape ended up on Instagram. She elaborated, insisting it was not done on purpose.
“It was on Instagram, like a little short clip video,” she said. “Just making it on Instagram and saved it to the phone, then threw the phone, but the video still was on my screen. And then threw the phone and it got accidentally pressed like that. Who gon’ do that on purpose? I was like, ‘What?’ And this was the wackest video. Y’all really don’t want me to post the real ones now. I turn up.”
She added, “It wasn’t me. It was an accident, but it was still like, ‘You dumb.’ Pay attention, be smarter. You moving too loose.”
Sexyy Red’s sex tape appeared on her Instagram Stories in October. The incident happened a few months after she dropped her Hood Hottest Princess project.
Anyone familiar with Gucci Mane’s story is well aware of his numerous run-ins with the law and years spent behind bars. But they’re also up to speed on his complete transformation—physically, mentally, spiritually—and his rise to the top of his game. Hecto, a Cuban immigrant who came to the United States at age 11, has been on a similar trajectory and is ready to take his rap career to the next level.
Hecto grew up poor, the “having one pair of shoes” kind of poor; the kind of poor where food in your belly wasn’t a guarantee. Hecto’s parents felt like moving to America was the only option for a better life. After settling in Tennessee with his family, Hecto understandably felt like an outlier. The inevitable language barrier led to difficulties in school.
“It was a rough transition for me because I didn’t speak any English,” he explains. “So my parents didn’t either, obviously. I was going to school and I’m going to class but not understanding what was being said.”
Hecto pressed on and by his freshman year of high school, he’d become enamored by the rap music he was hearing. Artists like Eminem, DMX and Cypress Hill were huge at the time and he he was captivated by their “attitude, grit and flow.” It wasn’t long before he was putting pen to paper.
“I started writing songs on a notebook, first in class and then at home in my room just chilling, writing,” he recalls. “I just remember being in my room and my mom walking in, like, ‘What are you doing?’ I didn’t want to tell anyone because at first, you don’t really know if you’re serious about it or even good at it. It took a little time.”
But Hecto’s extracurricular activities became a bit more nefarious as time went on, and he ultimately landed himself in jail. While he doesn’t directly blame the school system he was thrust into as a kid, he does believe it played a role.
“I think growing up like that plants a seed in your mind where it’s like, ‘OK, now I’m in a different country. Now I have opportunities, o I need to make some happen.’ Unfortunately, I think what happened with me was when I got here, I kind of lost interest in school because I didn’t know what was being said, I didn’t know what’s going on, especially for the first two years, so I think that kind of led me down the wrong path. I started not caring so much about school and just going out with the homies. I started getting around gangs.”
Hecto’s exposure to street life started in middle school. He vividly remembers a shootout at a homecoming dance, and the crazy circumstances just continued to unfold with each ensuing year. Full transparency, Hecto hasn’t been out of prison for that long. He went away on a five-year bid—which is nothing compared to what he could’ve been sentenced.
“It’s hard to do time and not let it change you as a person,” he admits. “You see a different side of the world, a world that a lot of people don’t get to see. Then you see people behave in a way that you don’t get to see a lot, even with COs, inmates and courtroom officials.
“A lot of people who you think are your friends don’t really write you and don’t call to ask about how you’re doing. I had serious charges and so I was really fighting for my life. I could have ended up doing a lot of time. Thank God I’m here now. I guess it’s given me a lot more to talk about. I feel like I can write a lot about a lot of things that I really couldn’t write about before, or I didn’t know much about.”
Hecto was slapped with multiple charges, including first-degree murder. As he explains, “I had two different cases. In 2016, I had a guns and drugs case where police came to my house with a special unit. I was only in for like two months and then I bonded out. The next year, I ended up catching a first-degree homicide charge, so that violated my bond stipulations and they revoked my bond.
“I wasn’t too worried about the first case, but the second case was a lot more serious. But I just felt like everything was gonna be OK, so I just dealt with it day by day, and they ended up dropping the charges to a manslaughter, which was only six years to serve at 30 percent. I ended up just doing like, almost five years.”
Hecto and his two co-defendants were all charged with first-degree murder despite having no crime scene.
“They do that s### a lot,” he says. “A lot of times they’ll have a weak ass case and they’ll come get you and your homies and assume one of you will talk. In my case, they ended up having to drop the charges for all three of us. We all got the same sentence. We did our time and got out.”
Hecto walked out of prison in September 2021 with a renewed lease on life, determined to start over. But it hasn’t necessarily been a smooth transition—he’s been hemmed up twice since his release.
“I ran from police about a year ago, not even a year ago,” he says. “Police kicked my door in again maybe like two weeks ago, so I’m still dealing with this b#######, but everything is going to be alright. At the end of the day, it’s nothing too serious. They want to put me away, that’s what it is.”
But with Hecto fully tapped into music and Yelawolf and his manager, Edward Crowe, in his corner, Hecto has a chance to walk a different path. Combined with his ability to rap in both Spanish and English, he’s a formula for success and perhaps the fresh perspective rap is so desperately lacking right now.
“We’re staying focused on the music and we’re doing these shows and you know, got new music coming out every month putting out new videos, so yeah, we’re focused,” he says. “So hopefully this will be the last time we got to speak about this s###.”
Hecto just wrapped up the Always On Tour Tour with RiFF RAFF on November 21 in Austin, Texas at The Yard. His latest video, “Criminal Covenant” featuring Yelawolf and RiFF RAFF, can be found above.
Cardi B and Offset’s fairytale romance came to an end sometime this year, but the Grammy-winning rapper only revealed the split this month. While she’s been mostly tight-lipped about what led to the split, she provided some context on Friday (December 15) during an emotionally-charged Instagram Live rant.
“This motherf###er really liked to play games with me when I’m at my most vulnerable time, when I’m not the most confident, he liked to play games with me, because he knows I’m not an easy girl,” Cardi said. “You really been f###ng feeling yourself, you b#### a## n###a, with your b#### a## album and s##t, and you’ve really been f###ing doing me dirty after so many f###ng years that I motherf###ng helped your a##, not even a f###ing thank you did I get from your b#### a##! I’m so f###ing tired of it!”
She also tweeted, “@OffsetYRN you a b#### a## n#### …and trust me imma f###in take it there! Motherf###as will try you when you at ya lowest and your most vulnerable time.. you out here feeling yourself but trust me the tables turn.”
Cardi B confirmed their breakup on December 11 after Blueface claimed Offset slept with Chrisean Rock. She wrote: “I don’t know if you guys been getting clues for me from my Lives or from my Stories when I put some certain music or find my own followings. When it comes to today’s events, I don’t know if it’s true. I don’t think it’s true. I don’t care to find out because I’ve been single for a minute now.”
She added she didn’t think Offset cheated on her with Rock but also didn’t “care to find out.” She continued, “I want to start 2024 fresh, open. I’m curious for a new life, a new beginning. I’m excited.”
The couple got married in 2017, but their relationship has been marred by infidelity rumors, primarily on the Migos rapper’s side. They have two children together.
Tekashi 6ix9ine’s girlfriend Yailin La Más Viral was arrested for battery after attacking him in Florida. A judge set her bond at $9,000 during a court appearance on Friday (December 15).
6ix9ine posted videos of Yailin hitting him and kicking a vehicle on Instagram Stories on Thursday (December 14). The controversial rapper said he had to share the evidence of her behavior because Dominican radio host Alofoke tried to accuse him of abusing her. The multi-platinum-selling artist labeled Alofoke a “rat” and denied any wrongdoing.
“Yailin needs lots of help,” 6ix9ine said. “Love her with all my heart.”
Alofoke claimed 6ix9ine destroyed Yailin’s phones, which contained evidence of the rapper’s alleged abuse. The two men argued on Instagram with 6ix9ine criticizing Alofoke for exploiting Yailin’s troubles for views.
The online back-and-forth saw both men bickering about Yailin’s bond. Alofoke said he would post a receipt to prove he posted bond for her if 6ix9ine would admit his abuse. 6ix9ine accepted and called Alofoke an opportunist.
“Yes rat whatever you say now put it up,” he wrote.

Alofoke responded by posting a screenshot of a supposed Zelle payment to Lily’s Bail Bond in Florida. 6ix9ine fired back by posting a document from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and a receipt from a bail bondsman called 561 Bail Bonds. He insisted he got Yailin out of jail while Alofoke did nothing.
“You are a s### person,” 6ix9ine wrote to Alofoke.
Yailin, whose real name is Jorgina Guillermo Diaz, was involved in 6ix9ine’s recent legal drama in the Dominican Republic. He allegedly assaulted two producers over her in October.
The New York-bred rapper spent a little over a week in a Dominican Republic jail before he was released on bail. He was hit with a restraining order and ordered to undergo anger management.
Kanye West was expected to release his collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures, on Friday (December 15). But instead of delivering the project, he went on a wild, unhinged rant about everybody from JAY-Z and Travis Scott to Donald Trump and Drake. He was particularly upset nobody “supported” him as his reputation crumbled.
Simultaneously, he used the same harmful language to the Jewish community that landed him in hot water while accusing his former trainer, Harley Pasternak, of killing Aaron Carter.
“I don’t want to hear s### from any Jewish n#### talkin’ bout, ‘Oh he’s in an episode. Harley followed me to the f###### hotel. That n#### killed Aaron Carter and now they acting like they won’t clear a Backstreeet Boys sample […] N###as be hanging around these n###as for the money on some Mike Rubin s###. I slap the s### out of Mike Rubin I see that n###a man. You know what I’m saying? Yo, f### these n###as bro…I’m on my Farrakhan Don s### right now bro.
“Because guess what? These Yeezy’s gonna sell. They sabotaged the show today. They sabotaged the Instagram. They cut off the f###ing adidas contract. Then they wanna go get light-skinned Ye. You get what I’m saying?”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ1UQqgyxtw
Of course, that was only the beginning. West continued bashing adidas, who cut ties with him over his last antisemitic tirade, saying, “Y’all ain’t stop that adidas s###. Y’all n###as let adidas crash the richest n###a of all time. I put up one tweet and then Ari Emanuel put, ‘Oh we gotta drop this n###a’ and all n###as just watched. The only n###a that had the Trump hat.
“The only n###a that went and got them billions. The only n###a that break through all kinds of ideas in fashion. I’ve been called a f##### so many times for tight jeans. I got n###as from Chicago that I take care of that still try to sell me.”
He then referenced former Gangster Disciple Larry Hoover and the benefit he did with Drake. He continued, “Who you think the old man call? When we put Drake on stage, who you think the old man call? You know what I’m saying. N###a just ’cause I had a car n###a. F### everybody n###a. That’s what I’m trying to say to you n###as right f###ing now n###a. Drake, this is what you been waiting for. JAY-Z, this is what you been waiting for. adidas, this is what you been waiting for. Kim [Kardashian], this is what you been waiting for.”
Aaron Carter, who is also the brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, died of a drug overdose in November 2022. His cause of death was attributed to drowning after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam, the generic form of brand-name Xanax. The autopsy report also indicated Carter was “incapacitated while in the bathtub due to the effects” of the drugs he took which contributed to his death by drowning.
As for Harley Pasternak, West ran into him at Atlantis the Royal Dubai on November 20. Harley was at the concierge desk making a dinner reservation when the run-in occurred. West apparently tried to hug Pasternak, but he rebuffed his attempt at an embrace and instead, asked the concierge to call security.
Brooklyn’s own Maino is back, but this time he has brought his New Orleans brethren along for the ride.
B.G., the fresh-out-of-prison Cash Money rapper, has jumped on the New Orleans remix of Maino’s#### “For My City.” The remix follows the original with a new bounce and visuals that represent the authentic N.O., chockfull of natives.
Maino told AllHipHop he and B.G. had perfect chemistry on this collaboration.
“B.G. is my brother, we have a solid history. So it was only right for him to jump on the remix,” Maino told AllHipHop. “The timing, for him to show love to his city worked out too – especially considering some of what I touched on in my lyrics.”
Check out the video exclusively below.
The new song comes on the heels of the #ForMyCityChallenge, where Maino left a verse open for rappers to jump on the song. It instantly became a viral sensation populating the hit on YouTube, SoundCloud and other platforms.
Dominique “Lil Baby” Jones and Diamonté “Saweetie” Harper will be the latest Hip-Hop artists to appear on the BMF crime drama. TheReal Housewives of Atlanta alumna Cynthia Bailey was also tapped for season three of the 50 Cent-produced program.
Lil Baby will make his official acting debut as an “eager-to-learn foot soldier” named Payne. Saweetie portrays former college athlete Keeya. Cynthia Bailey plays Gloria, the ex-wife of a police detective.
Saweetie and Lil Baby join Atlanta-based rapper Tauheed “2 Chainz” Epps as new editions to the BMF cast. Earlier this year, 2 Chainz stated, “I’m looking forward to seeing it. It was a change for me. I studied for it, I took it very seriously.”
BMF tells the fictionalized story of the 1980s/1990s-era drug trafficking organization known as the Black Mafia Family. Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. stars as his real-life father and convicted drug kingpin Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory.
Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. & Da’Vinchi in BMF season 3
Da’Vinchi took on the part of Big Meech’s brother, Terry “Southwest T” Flenory. The first two seasons of BMF also featured Russell Hornsby, Michole Briana White, Myles Truitt, Steve Harris, La La Anthony, Kash Doll, Snoop Dogg, Wood Harris, Lil Zane and Serayah.
Season three of BMF will air on the Starz network beginning March 1, 2024. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson serves as an executive producer for the series through his G-Unit Film and Television company. Randy Huggins, Heather Zuhlke, Anthony Wilson and Anne Clements also have executive producer credit.
Previously, Lil Baby had a cameo role in MTV’s How High 2 starring Lil Yachty and DC Young Fly. Cynthia Bailey also played herself in that stoner comedy movie. Saweetie’s acting résumé includes stints on the television shows Grown-ish and Bel-Air.
Tory Lanez being convicted by a California jury for shooting Megan Thee Stallion became one of the biggest rap stories of the last decade. A fictionalized version of the 2020 incident could be headed to screens shortly.
The YouTube description for the movie reads, “Music artist Raven The Stallion and Cory Gainz are having a secret love affair behind their friend Chelsea’s back. One night after a lot of partying and drinking everything goes wrong, leading to a shooting that will forever change their relationship.”
Some social media users expressed excitement about The Rapper That Got Shot In The Heel. However, critics accused Alvin Gray of attempting to capitalize on Megan Thee Stallion’s trauma and trivializing abuse against women.
“I was intrigued by that whole thing. Because, this is my opinion, personally a lot of things didn’t make sense,” Gray shared on Instagram. “Guilty, not guilty, whatever the case may be, certain things just didn’t make sense to me which is intriguing. That’s how I am as a filmmaker.
“There were certain parts of the story that I felt like, ‘Okay, yes, that happened…’ but as an editor, as a director, where’s the string that connected from here to here and from here to here and back here. Strings were missing.”
Gray went on to say he was interested in the so-called “missing alphabets” of the Megan Thee Stallion shooting incident. The filmmaker later imitated former President Bill Clinton by joking, “I did not poke fun at that woman. I want you to understand this movie is not poking fun at domestic violence or anyone getting hurt or anyone getting shot. If you truly are a fan of mine, you know I don’t even get down like that.”
Megan The Stallion Continues To Maintain That Tory Lanez Shot Her
Despite Tory Lanez getting convicted of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, having a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle and gross negligence in discharging his firearm in December 2022, there are still conspiracy theories online suggesting the Canadian was not the gunman.
Megan Thee Stallion recently responded to rumors that her former friend, Kelsey Harris, was the actual shooter. The “Cobra” rapper vehemently denied Harris fired the weapon at her that night in Hollywood Hills, California.
“I know who shot me. I said who shot me. And that’s why the f### you in jail. Y’all m############ are dragging it online like it’s some new evidence. There is no new evidence,” Megan Thee Stallion proclaimed during an Instagram Live session.
Doja Cat often ends up in the hot seat for her online behavior. Most recently, the Scarlet artist caught heat for sharing a photo of herself wearing a t-shirt with the face of a controversial figure.
In October, Doja Cat posted a selfie on Instagram that got a lot of attention. Her outfit featured a picture of Sam Hyde, the co-founder of the Million Dollar Extreme sketch comedy troupe.
Hyde reportedly supported Alt-Right content creators and white nationalists. Additionally, far-right message board users sometimes push the narrative that Hyde is a police suspect following mass shootings.
Doja Cat addressed her decision to put on a Sam Hyde-decorated shirt during an interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1. According to the 28-year-old rapper/singer, the backlash was overblown.
“You can’t know everything,” Doja Cat told Darden. “Me wearing a t-shirt of somebody who I thought was funny is an attack on people… It’s not an attack. It didn’t affect the world in a way where we now have to look behind our backs.
“I feel like it doesn’t matter what you say. It doesn’t matter what some people know. There are fans that I have who know that I don’t put any effort or any involvement into whatever the f### that negative-a## s### was. I am more just—funny guy on t-shirt, wore it that day.”
She continued, “I don’t need to explain myself. I don’t need to prove myself to a bunch of people who are just going to project no matter what I say. There are people who are incredibly dogmatic. It doesn’t matter what the f### you do, what you say. They’re always going to stand by, ‘That person’s evil.'”
Doja Cat’s Instagram post featuring Sam Hyde t-shirt
The Sam Hyde t-shirt controversy wasn’t the first time Doja Cat faced accusations of aligning with white nationalists or Alt-Right trolls. #DojaCatIsOverParty became a trending topic on social media in 2020 after the “Say So” hitmaker allegedly interacted with white supremacists in Tinychat forums.
“I learned that there are racist people who come in and out of the chat,” she insisted at the time. “They happen, then they’re banned. The idea that this chat room is a white supremacist chat room—I don’t understand it in any way.”
The RCA recording artist added, “I’ve seen it and I know I’ve been targeted by it, and I know that it’s controllable. But the narrative that it’s a white supremacist chat is completely incorrect. It’s absolutely, 100% f###ing incorrect.”
It appears the longstanding feud between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj will not end anytime soon. A new round in the two rappers’ online war kicked off Thursday (December 14).
Nicki Minaj took to Twitter (X) to complain about Billboard allegedly dismissing some of the sales for her Pink Friday 2 album. According to the New York native, her fifth studio LP could lose sales units because she supposedly violated a rule about asking fans to show proof of purchase for her music.
Cardi B responded to the discourse about the #WAPParty giveaway by also liking a tweet. That tweet read, “The Cash App partnership for WAP was during the end of the second week. It was already number one and it required NO proof of purchase and didn’t even require you to be a Cardi fan. The only requirement was that you had to be a WOMAN who could use the extra funds.”
Both Nicki Minaj and Cardi B’s social media activity got picked up by several blogs. Cardi B soon jumped into TNT‘s comment section.
Twitter (X) post liked by Cardi B
“Please post who was liking s### with my name in it first,” Cardi wrote. “Please post how because of that I started gettin dragged on Twitter about lies!! Ya always posting my response but never when I’m being antagonized and lied on. I was minding my business!!
“WAP debuted at # 1 and I teamed off with Cash App AFTER to give away money for women who was in need during the pandemic. No mention or purchase of my music needed!! It was to help THEM. Ya keep poking at me with narratives and then when I finally [respond] I’m the issue. Keep my name out ya mouth!!”

Playboi Carti is blessing his fans with a new Kanye West-assisted music video in time for Christmas.
A month after teasing the long-awaited follow-up to his chart-topping 2020 album, Whole Lotta Red, and less than a week after dropping a video for “UR THE MOON,” Carti has returned with visuals for a surprise new track.
On Friday (December 1) Playboi Carti returned with “2024,” produced by Kanye West, Earl on the Beat, and the duo Ojivolta.
The visuals feature West donning the controversial black KKK-style hood that raised eyebrows during his recent Vultures listening event.
Carti was at the Vultures rave and is rumored to be on the new Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign offering. The project was expected to drop at midnight on December 15, but failed to materialize.
Meanwhile, “2024” is expected to land on Carti’s upcoming album, rumored to be titled: I AM MUSIC. He addressed the project during a November interview with Numéro Berlin.
“I’ve been recording in Paris, I love Paris. Amazing,” Carti explained. “I was recording, in a cave, for like three months, and all the music that came out of that is just chaotic and crazy. Then, I’m in a glass house, somewhere in the hills, and the music there is just very good to the ears. And then, I’m in Atlanta and the tensions are just high and the music is biting.”
Nicki Minaj continues to address her gripe with Elliott Wilson after calling him out for criticizing her recent interview with Twitch streamer Kai Cenat.
“You know how many tweets I’ve seen you post disrespecting me, ‘Idiot’ Wilson,” she said during an Instagram Live late Thursday (December 14). “All y’all for some reason, when you’re around certain people, you feel like you’ve got some power.”
Someone in the live chat commented that Wilson “came at” Drake, prompting Nicki Minaj to become heated.
“Came at Drake for what? Nobody owes you s### h## n####. F### you! Why when y’all have an affiliation to Jay-Z in some sort of way, y’all be thinking that y’all can disrespect and violate?”
Nicki Minaj also accused Wilson of being part of an “agenda” and attempting to drive attention away from her album.
“Elliott has been one of those people who are used to being the mouthpiece for others,’ she said, adding that she doesn’t respond to the “nasty things” he said about her over recent years.
“But then I drop an album and you’re jealous that you didn’t interview me? Why?” she questioned. “And by the way, you’re a grown f###ng man. If you wanted an interview, you could have asked, I would have given you one. But that’s not what you want, right. Actually, we know what you want. You wanted to cause a distraction. Y’all have been trying for months and we didn’t care. Now we have a great album, we really don’t care.”
Nicki Minaj Refuses To Clear “Vultures” Feature
Elsewhere during the IG Live, Minaj also addressed Kanye West’s request to clear her verse on Vultures cut “New Body.”
“Chile. That train has left the station,” she said before adding, “No disrespect in any way. I just put out a brand new album. Now why would I put out a song that has been out for three years? Come on guys.”
Tory Lanez has filed a petition to vacate his 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in light of a recent statement from his driver, alongside other factors, including “childhood” trauma” and a possible discriminatory deportation.
In a statement filed this week, Jauquan Smith, who failed to testify during his trial, claimed that although he did not see who fired the gun that shot Megan, he saw Lanez trying to wrestle the weapon from Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris before the shooting, per Legal Affairs and Trials reporter Meghann Cuniff.
“Mr. Peterson and Ms. Harris began struggling as Mr. Peterson tried to unarm Ms. Harris. I was still pulling Ms. Pete and did not see who shot the weapon,” Smith’s statement reads in part.
In addition, in a 45-page habeas petition seeking re-sentencing, Lanez also asked the appellate court to consider his “childhood trauma,” as the sentencing judge did.
He also argues deportation should not have been considered in sentencing because it is discriminatory.
According to Cuniff, the petition will be considered alongside Lanez’s appellate brief, and a decision is not expected for some months.
As expected, the court won't consider the habeas petition by itself. The three-judge panel said today it'll consider it with the appellate brief, which hasn't been filed yet. (Right now it's due Dec. 26.)https://t.co/aUe641wMd4pic.twitter.com/phvyPPI31E
Megan Thee Stallion Responds to Tory Lanez Supporters
During an Instagram Live earlier this week, Megan Thee Stallion addressed Tory Lanez and his defenders.
“Y’all trying to pretend like Kelsey shot me,” Megan said. “Kelsey did not motherf###ing shoot me. And I really wonder why she—her main problem with me was, ‘You won’t tell people I didn’t shoot you!” I was like, ‘Kelsey, I don’t want to talk about this on social media at all.’ But now you won’t even get online and defend yourself. So, that really just proves my point: either you took some money or your life is in danger.”
She added, “I know who shot me. I said who shot me. And that’s why the f### you in jail. Y’all motherf###ers are dragging it online like it’s some new evidence. There is no new evidence.”
