Lil Yachty Shares New ‘Non-Rap’ Album ‘Let’s Start Here’

Lil Yachty is entering a new chapter of his musical career with his fifth studio album, Let’s Start Here

The “Poland” hitmaker shared the follow-up to 2020’s Lil Boat 3 on Friday (Jan. 27), after thanking fans for their patience. Lil Yachty gave a select few a chance to hear the 14-track project a few hours before it dropped at a private listening event in New Jersey. Stream it at the end of the page.

He also took to Twitter shortly before dropping the new album with a message to his fans. Yachty advised the project should be played from start to finish, with no skips, for the best listener experience.

“I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO LISTEN FULLY THROUGH THE FIRST TIME. DONT SKIP, DONT SHUFFLE. I NEED U TO HEAR IT HOW ITS INTENDED PLZ,” he tweeted.

The arrival of Let’s Start Here followed a skit designed to give fans more context about the album.

“At the end of this hallway is the edge of oblivion,” Lil Yachty says during the 100-second skit. “The man you’re watching may not know yet. This moment will mark the first step on the journey of the rest of his life.” Check out “Department Of Mental Tranquility” below.

Lil Yachty warned fans he was taking his sound in a different direction on Let’s Start Here.

“My new album is a non-rap album. It’s alternative, it’s sick,” Yachty explained in an interview with Ice Box last year. He described the project as “a psychedelic alternative project,” adding “It’s different, it’s all live instrumentation.”

Azealia Banks Declares She’s Done With Record Label Full Of “Silly Fragile White Liars”

Azealia Banks’ stint at Parlophone didn’t last long.

The 31-year-old artist disclosed her exit from the record label in a since-deleted post on Instagram Stories. Azealia Banks criticized Parlophone’s staff and told fans to look out for the imminent release of her “New Bottega” single.

“I’m leaving @parlophone,” she wrote. “This staff is full of really silly fragile white liars. The roster is full of corny losers and I’ve had it lmao. Like how many idiots does it take to screw in a f###### lightbulb? Ugh thank god. ‘New Bottega’ will be on platforms this week. That s### was stressing me TF OUT.”

She added, “I DON’T GET DROPPED. I DROP THE LABEL. LMAO P######.”

Azealia Banks revealed she signed with Parlophone in late 2022. The label is a subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Parlophone was supposed to handle the official release of the “New Bottega” single. Azealia Banks leaked the track months before announcing she signed with the label.

Azealia Banks recently told The Guardian she aimed to “preserve [her] own natural ability to create and be inspired by music” despite signing with a major label. She also criticized Kanye West and praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the interview.

Coi Leray Cherishes Grandmaster Flash Co-Sign After Sampling “The Message”

Coi Leray appreciated Grandmaster Flash’s approval of her new single “Players,” which samples his iconic song “The Message” with the Furious Five.

The Republic Records artist discussed Grandmaster Flash co-signing her in an interview with Billboard. Coi Leray praised the Hip-Hop legend for his positivity and mentioned her desire to learn from the pioneer.

“Flash, he’s so funny,” Coi Leray said. “I would’ve thought I’ve known him. I felt like I was in a time machine when I met him. It’s like he didn’t even age. I feel like, ‘I’m meeting you back in the ’90s.’ If that was a movie, that’d be fire. Going back in time and I’m like, ‘What’s up?’ He’s right here and he was so present. He got so much energy, he’s so healthy and he looks so good.”

She continued, “This guy, he can give me a lot of knowledge if you really think about it. That song was so big and I do know how much that it impacted Hip-Hop. I thought it was dope how humble he is. He’s very positive and I love positive energy.”

Coi Leray viewed “Players” as a song that unites different generations. She enjoyed bridging the gap in Hip-Hop.

“This record was to connect the new with the old and bring us together,” she said. “There’s been a lot of rah-rah music lately. There’s a lot of older cats and OGs talking about TikTok and the sound and it just feels good to bring everybody together. Whether you’re 10, 2, 80 or 30, everyone’s bopping, and those are the moments I love.”

Did Dallas Cowboys’ Dax Prescott And His Girlfriend Have Broken Up!

Who is cleaning house? Dax or his girlfriend Natalie Buffett? That is the big question. But let’s take it a step further. We all know now that the Dallas Cowboys lost a playoff bid and run to the Super Bowl Sunday. Dax Prescott was their fearless leader and he filled them miserably in the game against the San Francisco 49ers. He looked horrible and the Internet responded with an epic 3 -4 day roasting online. Much of the jokes were directed straight at Dax!

But, on the fourth day, which is today, definitive reports emerged that stated that he and his girlfriend broke up. I don’t know if this has any merit but his girlfriend happens to be a Caucasian woman. Her name is Natalie but we may want to call her Becky after this one. The prevailing thought is that Natalie left him after he lost in such a spectacular fashion. I think it’s just as easy to consider that he just cleaned his entire house after failing to go to the Super Bowl once again.Regardless, it just seems like everything is falling apart for the young quarterback, who is actually pretty old at this point.

Recently, journalist TJ Holmes faced a similar matter. Holmes, who is Black, cheated on his Black Wife with a White Mistress. The mistress was his co-star on TV. Anyway, they were on Cloud 10 for a few weeks even after getting benched. Then she went back to work and he stayed on the bench, because it came out that he had other scandalous relationships. And, as things got tighter and tighter, she has suddenly decided to part ways with him. The brother is messing up her bag!

I wonder when will they learn.

BUT…check this out! Dax has already moved on. He has reportedly scooped up LSU swimmer Jadyn Jannasch! What! That means ol boy had his nose open before the game! That’s cray.

Xzibit Looks To Sell California Home For Nearly $4 Million Amid Divorce Battle

Xzibit hopes someone’s willing to pay him millions of dollars for his house in Porter Ranch, California.

According to Architectural Digest, Xzibit put his five-bedroom home on the market for $3.85 million. The West Coast rapper is looking to sell his house as he continues to fight over money in his divorce.

Xzibit’s ex-wife Krista Joiner claimed he promised to provide her “lifetime support” if they ever split. She filed for divorce in 2021.

“In the event the parties’ relationship ended, all of the property acquired, or entities or businesses established, or which property or entities/businesses increased in value, during their relationship as a result of [Xzibit’s] skills, efforts, labor, and earnings, regardless of how the title was formally held, would be divided equally between them,” Joiner’s lawyer argued in a lawsuit filed in 2022.

Joiner said the former couple reached an oral agreement for her financial support. Xzibit asked the court to force her to look for a job to help support herself.

Xzibit petitioned a judge to order a vocational evaluation for Joiner. He wanted a court-appointed official to determine her employment options before any ruling on spousal support.

Last year, Joiner accused her ex-husband of hiding at least $20 million. A judge previously ordered Xzibit to pay $2,239 per month in child support.

Are There AI Songs Of Your Favorite Rappers Leaking?

I will not give exacts yet, because I have yet to prove it. But, I have been sent several tracks from notable rappers. And the people are songs are HUGE names that are on tracks with unlikely rappers. These other rappers are more underground and street. We know pop rappers love to get their credibility locked in, by partnering with the most credible street rappers. Well, that is exactly what I am seeing!

But, those collaborations ARE transactional. The street emcees get a boost too, and a new audience. So, where does Artificial Intelligence come in? We know now that this is happening. We interviewed Ice-T a ways ago and he talked about getting his voice cloned. Check that out.

Beyond that, deep fake and AI have proven that we can mimic almost any artist or person. Famous people tend to have a lot of legacy video, audio, and songs that AI can draw from. And, I am being told that some artists are creating new songs that sound JUST LIKE well known rappers. But what they do is they create a whole verse of the AI, but don’t tag the name-brand rapper. So, it sounds just like them, but they are not giving the credit publishing or anything like away. And it goes more or less viral. Word of mouth makes it seems like “This rapper” has a new unreleased song with “That rapper.” Everybody wins.

I guess this could go horribly wrong if the rapper that is being mimicked gets mad and sues. For now, the fans of said-rapper has some pretty exclusive music. What if it ain’t AI and it is literally the rapper doing secret music. That would be even cooler.

By the way, it ain’t Kendrick.

Is Chief Keef’s Baby Moms Pregnant By Lil Baby?

These streets are on fire.

We are here for one reason and one reason only. To find out if this is true. Could Lil Baby has put a bun in the oven of Chief Keef’s baby moms? This is what the streets are saying. And I am afraid this may just be truth. How do I know? The internet is saying so.

Seriously, this is a thing.

So, it seems to have some validity to it. She appears to have two rich rap dude baby daddies. We know for a fact about Chief Keef, because she talks about it on YouTube.

The Lil Baby part is a bit less conclusive. Slim Danger is saying that she has HIS baby in her belly. However, the homie Lil Baby seemed to take exception with that talk in the name of “false narratives.”

“Y’all gotta stop with the False narratives. Certain sh#t you gotta kno N###s ain’t doing. Well n####s like me.”

– Lil Baby on IG

Anyway, Slim is looking to get a DNA test. I guess that at least means Lil Baby smashed. Either way, this is pretty stupid. I hope Lil Baby ain’t go out like that! Yall remember Kat Stacks? This reminds me of her.

Defeated Tattooed Guy Says Cardi B Was Jekyll & Hyde On Stand; Wants New Trial

A man demanded a new trial after losing a lawsuit to Cardi B.

Kevin Brophy claimed he didn’t get a fair trial in his case against Cardi B. Brophy sued the Atlantic Records rapper for misusing an image of his tattoos on the cover of her 2016 mixtape Gangsta B#### Music Vol. 1.

Brophy, who is white, said he was humiliated by the cover artwork. It featured a non-white model with Brophy’s back tattoos appearing to perform oral sex on Cardi B.

A freelance graphic designer found an image of Brophy’s tattoos on Google. The tattoos were photoshopped onto the model’s back without Cardi B’s knowledge.

Brophy sued Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, for $5 million. Jurors ruled in her favor after a four-day trial in October 2022.

A judge refused to overturn Cardi B’s victory in December 2022. Brophy’s lawyer argued for a new trial in a motion filed on Wednesday (January 25).

“Almanzar repeatedly engaged in theatrics, refused to answer basic questions, impermissibly disclosed privileged and confidential settlement communications, and generally acted with total disregard and disrespect for the jury’s time and formal nature of court proceedings,” Brophy’s attorney contended.

He continued, “The deliberate nature of Defendant’s strategy to undermine Plaintiff’s ability to present his case was exposed by a switch in demeanor that puts Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to shame. On direct from her own counsel, Almanzar provided lucid, direct and fully responsive answers to questions—answers which were allowed to remain unchallenged by virtue of the Court’s erroneous and summary denial of cross-examination.”

Brophy was ordered to pay Cardi B’s legal fees following his courtroom defeat. Her legal team will likely respond to his motion for a new trial in the coming weeks.

EXCLUSIVE: Consequence Calls Out Pusha T For Abandoning Kanye West During “A Crisis”

Kanye West put a giant target on his back last October when he made some inflammatory comments deemed to be anti-Semitic. As companies furiously canceled West, Pusha T announced he was resigning from G.O.O.D. Music in December 2022. But West’s longtime collaborator Consequence, who helped establish G.O.O.D. Music with Ye in 2004, says there was nothing to “resign” from.

During a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, Consequence not only addressed Pusha T’s purported president role at the imprint but also his seemingly snap decision to cut ties with Ye. After all, West had co-produced Push’s Grammy Award-nominated album It’s Almost Dry just months prior. He also starred in the video for “Diet Coke” alongside the Virginia-bred rapper.

“Family is a word that gets thrown around a lot, loosely,” Consequence begins in a clip exclusively obtained by AllHipHop. “And I could actually say that Kanye is my family, right. We not blood relatives, but that’s my family. We’ve done more things and have had more interactions mutually than we have with our own family. When I see something like that, I’m conflicted. I’m disgusted because of a multitude of reasons. And they aren’t all directed at Pusha T.”

https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cn2jlIgj6f_/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y%3D

Consequence continues, “[G.O.O.D. Music] is something that I help build with my bare hands. It wasn’t nothing. Whatever the narrative was at Roc-A-Fella, at the end of the day, a lot of it was on my back. Kanye eventually propelled to stardom, so whatever we did worked. My equity is in his career and in the label. So that’s where I’m disgusted with somebody who wasn’t there from the start. Once they situation comprised—when Ye is in a situation he talked himself into, he’s got to be responsible for that 100 percent—but we’re not going to stick together?”

Consequence has admitted he isn’t down with the controversial comments Kanye West made. But, at the same time, he recognizes West is in a precarious position and needs help.

“Whether I agree with Kanye or not, it’s not the principle of that,” he continues. “Like I said, I told you all this street s###. Pusha T told you all the street s### and now we doing this industry s###? Nah. Now, in fairness, does Pusha T have a right to distance himself from situations he don’t want to be in? Yeah. He a man. Do those two have grievances behind the scenes that are not being spoke about? Yes, they do. So part of this s### is kinda cap.”

Pusha T, who has been identified as the president of G.O.O.D. Music for years, allegedly hasn’t filled that role for some time. As Consequence explains, “The whole Good Music president s###? That’s cap. There was no G.O.O.D. Music president s###, n-gga. That s### is cap. It ain’t been that s### for years. When n-gga kickin’ some resignation s###, there ain’t no resignation s###. Just say you mad about the Donda 3 party in Chicago when he ain’t let you on stage. Say that.

“You basically deading G.O.O.D. Music like, ‘I’m going for the Grammy and f### the block.’ What you want me to do? Say, ‘Alright yeah, keep going?’ Ain’t nothing p#### about me, n-gga. At all. You dig? And ain’t none of this personal. Everybody got the right to do whatever they want to do, and that includes me. So I got the right to be like, you know what? Nah. N-ggas ain’t gonna just dead the block like that. Just so you can eat? You Pharrell’s man. That’s why you running around with Pharrell right now, and that’s cool. All that s### is cool. But my man, he in a crisis and n-ggas is out. I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again. I ain’t the only n-gga who got a check with Ye. I’m the only n-gga that said something though. You want me to respect that s###? Come on, bro.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CnlFJiFIpLe/

Consequence acknowledges there’s a chance Kanye West and Pusha T could find a way forward, but he’s not holding his breath.

“They may communicate and find resolve to that situation,” he says. “But as it stands, I don’t f### with that ‘cause I expect more out of Pusha T, honestly. This n-gga base everything he stand for on the streets. I ain’t saying you gotta support it or not. If Pusha T wins a Grammy, Ye did half the album. So what? You’re not going to thank him? Or you gonna thank him and act like you ain’t say you resigned?

“It’s a lot of games and I’m not really with none of that s###, to be honest with you. That’s my take on it. Ain’t none of this personal. That’s me speaking as a man. I ain’t in the same space. Many moons ago, I went at n-ggas ‘cause I ain’t like how s### was going down. I’m not in that space. I’m a grown man and I’m going to play no games with nobody. I’m not speaking to n-ggas one minute and then acting like I don’t f### with them the next. I’m not with that. At the end of the day, it was all good when they n-ggas were doing the pub dance in the ‘Diet Coke’ video. You gotta stay like that or you don’t.”

T.I. Explains Missing Out On Nick Cannon’s Part In ‘Drumline’

Clifford “T.I.” Harris is best known as a chart-topping, Diamond-selling Hip Hop artist. The man also known as Tip made his way to the big screen on several occasions as well.

T.I. made his feature film debut in the Atlanta-set coming-of-age drama ATL. Additionally, he starred in motion pictures such as American Gangster, Takers, Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Cut Throat City.

Apparently, Harris missed out on playing the lead character in another teen movie filmed in his hometown. Nick Cannon got the role of Devon Miles in director Charles Stone III’s Drumline, but Tip did audition for that part.

Grammy Winner Dallas Austin Produced ‘Drumline’ & ‘ATL’

Atlanta-based music producer Dallas Austin served as a film producer for Drumline. During an interview for the Club Shay Shay podcast, T.I. recalled having a conversation with Austin about working with him on a motion picture.

“I was working on my first album, [Dallas Austin] was telling me about his first film. I was always like, ‘Yo bruh, put me in it,'” Tip told Club Shay Shay host Shannon Sharpe. “He was like, ‘Aight, yeah man. Say less.'”

T.I. continued, “He sent me to go read and I read. They were like, ‘Man, you got to learn how to play the drums.’ And I was like, ‘I could play like I could play the drums.’ They were like, ‘Nah, you gotta learn how.’ I was like, ‘Man, I don’t wanna do that.'”

T.I. Secured His ‘ATL’ Role Without Having To Audition

While T.I.’s lack of percussion skills prevented him from playing Devon Miles, the I’m Serious album creator explained how that missed opportunity eventually led to his inclusion in the ATL movie.

“That opened the door for me to do ATL. After I didn’t get the role for Drumline, I went back to Dallas and said, ‘Man, next time, just give me the role. I ain’t going to read or nothing. Just give me the role.’ And he was like, ‘Cool.’ He just gave me the role for Rashad in ATL,” stated Tip.

Drumline hit theaters in 2002. The fictional story about an HBCU marching band made $56 million at the domestic box office. ATL arrived four years later. Director Chris Robinson’s tale about a group of friends’ final year in high school grossed $21 million domestically.

Migos released four albums – 2015’s Yung Rich Nation, 2017’s Culture, 2018’s Culture II, and 2021’s Culture III. The Grammy-nominated family members also have numerous mixtapes in their catalog. Additionally, Takeoff dropped his only solo studio LP, The Last Rocket, in 2018.

Missy Elliott Teases Doritos Super Bowl LVII Commercial With Jack Harlow

As NFL fans prepare for Super Bowl LVII on February 12, corporations have begun to roll out their ad campaigns for the Big Game. A certain tortilla chip brand tapped Missy Elliott and Jack Harlow for a commercial.

Doritos began posting videos featuring Kentucky-raised rapper Jack Harlow earlier this month. A January 12 tweet from the company read, “The real love triangle is us, @JackHarlow, and Doritos BBQ.”

On Wednesday, Doritos revealed another person in that “real love triangle” advertisement. Hip Hop legend Missy Elliott showed up in a 15-second clip that teased an upcoming Super Bowl LVII spot.

“@jackharlow and @MissyElliott collab when? (guess you can tune in 2.12 to see),” tweeted the official Doritos Twitter account. Elliott also tweeted, “#Doritos_Partner Well who we waiting on? 🤔@jackharlow @Doritos.”

Missy Elliott & Doritos Have History As Collaborators

Five years ago, Missy Elliott starred in the “Tongue Twisters: Doritos Blaze” commercial alongside fellow rap legend Busta Rhymes. Oscar winner Morgan Freeman and Emmy winner Peter Dinklage also appeared in that Doritos Blaze vs Mountain Dew Ice campaign.

Houston-bred rapper Megan Thee Stallion was the star of the 2022 Super Bowl teasers for Doritos and Cheetos. “Old Town Road” hitmaker Lil Nas X had a dance-off with Western movie icon Sam Elliott in a 2020 Doritos ad.

Emmett Till’s Family Said To Be Saddened By Oscars Snubbing ‘Till’ Biopic

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced this year’s Oscar nominations earlier this week. However, the 2022 biographical drama Till was not listed among the potential winners.

Till is based on the true story of Mamie Till-Bradley seeking justice for her murdered 14-year-old son Emmett Till in 1955. Danielle Deadwyler’s portrayal of Mamie received rave reviews from movie critics.

However, Danielle Deadwyler did not make it into the Best Actress category for the 95th Academy Awards. AMPAS also snubbed the film for Best Picture, Best Director, and every other category.

According to TMZ, the Till family feels “saddened” and “extremely disappointed” by the Academy’s lack of recognition for Till. Deborah Watts, Emmett Till Legacy Foundation co-founder/Emmett’s cousin, gave a statement to the outlet.

“[Deadwyler] embodied and delivered the true essence of our cousin, a loving and courageous mother, Mamie Till Mobley,” said Deborah Watts. “She reached deeply and poured her heart and soul in this role as she embraced us intimately like no other while transforming into Mamie and bringing her true essence and story to life.”

Deadwyler’s Till Performance Earned Nods At Numerous Other Award Shows

Till did pick up an Outstanding Lead Performance win for Danielle Deadwyler at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. The Atlanta native also scored nominations at the Black Reel Awards, Satellite Awards, British Academy Film Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and NAACP Image Awards.

Additionally, Till director Chinonye Chukwu took to Instagram to share her thoughts about racism and sexism in Hollywood. Chukwu specifically focused her attention on the treatment of Black women in the film industry.

“We live in a world and work in industries that are so aggressively committed to upholding whiteness and perpetuating an unabashed misogyny towards Black women,” wrote Chinonye Chukwu on the social media platform.

The filmmaker continued, “And yet. I am forever in gratitude for the greatest lesson of my life – regardless of any challenges or obstacles, I will always have the power to cultivate my own joy, and it is this joy that will continue to be one of my greatest forms of resistance. ✊🏽.”

Cordae: I Got An EP Full Of Songs With Anderson .Paak Over J. Cole Beats

Hip Hop artist Cordae has already released albums such as 2019’s The Lost Boy and 2022’s From a Birds Eye View. Apparently, the Maryland native could drop a joint project with Anderson .Paak.

Cordae spoke with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe about his new song “Two Tens.” Singer/rapper Anderson .Paak serves as a guest feature on the track. The two stars also created additional music together.

“You know what’s funny, we literally got a mixtape full of joints with me and Paak,” Cordae told Lowe. “We literally got a mixtape full of joints of me and Paak… Well, we got an EP full of joints with me, Paak, and Cole beats.”

J. Cole co-produced Cordae’s “Two Tens” featuring Anderson. Paak. Back in 2018, Cordae broke out as a rising rapper with his “Old N*ggas” response to Cole’s “1985” song.

Cordae and J. Cole have another connection. Both rhymers spent part of their lives in North Carolina. Cordae was born in the Tar Heel State. Cole’s family moved there when he was a child.

Cordae Talks Anderson .Paak Being One Of His Genuine Friends

“Two Tens” could be the start of a new musical era for Cordae. The 25-year-old Atlantic Records signee also revealed in his Apple Music interview that he recorded 180 songs in 2022.

Assumingly, some of those unreleased songs include contributions by Anderson. Paak. Cordae explained his personal friendship with the NxWorries and Silk Sonic member.

“I don’t really have too many friends, to be honest. He’s one of my real-life genuine friends,” said Cordae. “That’s where it comes from, bro. Just because we just be kicking it, and we just be recording. Kicking it and recording.”

The 3-time Grammy nominee added, “It won’t be like, ‘Let’s just put this out next week.’ It’ll be like, ‘This song is a couple of years old.’ So I’m like man, I’m going to just hold on to this. And when the time, it feels right, it feels right.”

2 Chainz Discovers Late Father’s Hidden Cash Stash In The Basement Of His Home

A burst pipe in the basement of his home led 2 Chainz to stumble across a secret stash of cash hidden by his late father, who died over a decade ago.

The College Park, Georgia native took to Instagram on Wednesday (Jan. 15) to reveal how he discovered his father’s hoard.

“Quick story. I had a busted pipe in the basement,” 2 Chainz explained. “They fixed my basement and then they found…I guess it’s my pop’s old stash.”

In the video, 2 Chainz can be seen rifling through a bag of meticulously folded bills, although he does not appear to have counted his late father’s hidden stockpile. Check out the clip below.

2 Chainz’s father passed away in 2012, just as his career was taking off. At the time, he was preparing the rollout of his B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time album, but all that stopped when he rushed to be by his father’s side.

2 Chainz Reflects On His Father’s Passing

“I was there the whole time even when he passed, I was right there and it was just something,” Chainz told Angie Martinez in Aug. 2012. “And it was like, ‘Man you got a tour to do, you got an album coming out,’ and you know he was saying little things like Imma be aight, and really I just be talking to him like he still here.”

The “It’s A Vibe” hitmaker said he was glad his dad got to see some of his success before he died.

“He was able to see the new house I bought, of course,” he said. “He had his room, he had it painted. We got his carpet changed. Hung a few pictures up. I’m leaving his room just like it is. When I come off the road I go up sometimes. I smoke one in his room. Rest in peace to my pops. It is bittersweet. The album is out. Everyone is like they proud, and it would be cool to hear them say it.”

Despite his father being in and out of his life 2 he was able to repair the bond with his son before his death. They reconnected after his father was released from jail, roughly seven years before he died.

“Recently we just started saying ‘I love you’ on the phone,” 2 Chainz told The Urban Daily in May 2012. “Like two weeks ago, he said something that he’s never said before. He said, ‘You’re a good man and I’m proud of you. I just wanted to tell you that.’ You know he’s getting older and he’s been sick a lot lately and that scared me.”

T.I. Explains Why He Was Unwilling To Sign 21 Savage & Young Thug For $1M Deals

T.I. has revealed why he decided not to sign Young Thug and 21 Savage for $1 million early in their careers.

The Atlanta rapper opened up about passing on the chance to give them a seven-figure deal with his Grand Hustle label. During his interview with Shannon Sharpe on his Club Shay Shay podcast, T.I. explained why he wasn’t willing to go ahead with the deal.

“At this point in my career, I find it honorable to be able to tell new artists when they come up to me,” he said. “You know, 21 Savage, [Young] Thug. A lot of them come up to me, ‘Aye man, give me a million, Tip. I don’t care what you do, just give me a million and let me handle it from there.’”

However, T.I. turned the opportunity to sign them due to the amount he’d have to take from them in return.

“Like nah, I ain’t gonna do that,” T.I. continued. “Because if I give you a million, I gotta take back something that’s gonna be worth way more, and we ain’t gon’ be able to be friends from there. I always tell ’em, man, ‘Don’t worry about the money up front ’cause it’s gon’ come.’”

T.I. has no regrets about signing the pair adding he was right about patiently waiting for the money to come.

“I remember telling that to Slime, I remember telling that to 21. And even Savage, every time he sees me now, he’ll hit me and say, ‘Aye, it came.’ And that puts a smile on my face because I just know how impactful every generation has the opportunity to be even more than the last.”

Grammys 2023: Mary J. Blige, Bad Bunny, Lizzo & More Set To Perform

The 2023 Grammys are less than two weeks away, and the Recording Academy has announced the first set of performers expected to rock the stage.

Lizzo, Mary J. Blige, and Bad Bunny are all set to perform at the awards ceremony. Fellow nominees Brandi Carlile, Luke Combs, Steve Lacy, Lizzo, Kim Petras, and Sam Smith were also announced as guest artists.

All of the performers are nominated for at least one coveted gramophone. Bad Bunny, Lizzo, and Mary J. Blige are all in the running for Album of the Year.

Nine-time GRAMMY winner Mary J. Blige is nominated for six awards, including  Album of the Year for “Good Morning Gorgeous,” while its title single is up for Record of the Year. She is also in the category for Best R&B Performance.

Lizzo has five chances to add to the existing trio of awards she received during the 2022 Grammys. Her nominations include Song Of The Year and Record of the Year for “About Damn Time;” while “Special” gets the Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album nod.

Spotify’s most streamed artist for a third consecutive year, Bad Bunny, could add another three awards to the two Grammy wins he received in 2021 and 2022. The Latin artist is up for Album of the Year for his chart-topping “Un Verano Sin Ti.” He is also nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Música Urbana Album.

Jay-Z Likely To Grace 2023 Grammys Stage

Music industry power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z could be big winners on the night with a combined 14 nominations. They already top the list of most career Grammy nominations in history, with 88 between them. Bey has a win count of 28 Grammys, while Jay has 24 to his name.

A new HitsDailyDouble report claims Hov will likely perform at the ceremony next month. He is rumored to be part of a set with “God Did” collaborator DJ Khaled. Meanwhile Beyoncé is not expected to appear.

Former “The Daily Show” star Trevor Noah resumes hosting duties for the third year in a row at the ceremony set to take place Feb. 5 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Chris Brown Reportedly Owes $4 Million In Back Taxes

Chris Brown found himself in hot water with the government following a report claiming the R&B singer owes millions of dollars to the IRS and the state of California.

Legal documents show Breezy allegedly owes a total of $4 million in back taxes, according to a new report. Several tax liens have been filed against Chris Brown, targeting his property and music businesses, for taxes reportedly owed from 2022.

The government hit Chris with at least two federal tax liens for taxes owed for the 2022 year. One was for $2,245,561.50, and another for $1,059,967.78, as per the newly released tax documents.

But that’s not all Chris Brown allegedly owes in back taxes. The state of California also filed a state tax lien against the “Loyal” hitmaker for $739,067.48. In total, he reportedly owes the government a whopping $4,044,596.76.

If Chris Brown does not pay the multi-million-dollar sum, the federal government and the state of California will come to collect. The documents indicate his Tarzana, California home, and multiple music businesses are on the line.

Despite being worth an estimated $100 million, Chris Brown knows the value of a good yard sale. He raised money back in 2018 with a “high-end garage sale” at his Los Angeles Home. He invited fans and shoppers to buy personal items, including used clothing and memorabilia, from the front yard of his mansion.

Another garage sale might be in order, and not just to help pay off those back taxes. Chris Brown recently took to Instagram to explain he’s been forced to construct a “department store” on the grounds of his property to store his mammoth clothing collection.

“I just built a department store outside of my house,” he said in the video posted on his IG Stories. “Let me show y’all what this looks like.” Check out the video below.

21 Savage Explains Why He Doesn’t View Drake & J. Cole As Peers

21 Savage believes he has a lot of work to do to be considered Drake or J. Cole’s peer.

The Slaughter Gang artist detailed why he’s not on their level yet in an interview with Complex, which declared him the best rapper of 2022. 21 Savage mentioned Lil Baby, Young Thug and Travis Scott as examples of his actual peers.

“There’s just a difference, bro,” 21 Savage said when comparing himself to Drake and J. Cole. “That’s like years of work and a fanbase that is going to be there until they die, that’s different. I feel like I’m working to be on that level that they’re on, but I don’t feel like it’s the same. I feel I could do something corny, and I would lose a lot of what I got. That wouldn’t happen with them.”

He continued, “Drake could do whatever, Cole could do whatever, and their s### not going anywhere. I’m working toward that level for sure, but I don’t I’m there yet. I’m not saying I’m light-years behind. They’re more solidified, and I’m still building on what I got. But I could be wrong … It’s all about how the fans look at it.”

Last year, 21 Savage teamed up with Drake for the collaborative album Her Loss. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

21 Savage enlisted J. Cole for the song “A Lot” on the 2018 album I Am > I Was. The two reconnected for a track titled “m y . l i f e” on J. Cole’s The Off-Season in 2021.
