Unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) have become major topics of discussion in recent months. Even Post Malone has expressed interest in possible alien contact.
In addition, Grusch claimed the government has been aware of “non-human” activity on Earth since the 1930s. The Pentagon has denied discovering extraterrestrial items or covering up reverse-engineering programs.
Zane Lowe Chats With Post Malone About ET Phenomenon
Post Malone recently sat down with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe to promote his upcoming Austin album due out July 28. The hour-long conversation included Malone discussing UFOs and the conspiracy theory associated with an alleged 1947 alien crash landing in Roswell, New Mexico.
“You look back at like Roswell, and they’re like, ‘We found a weather balloon.’ Even like [Battle: Los Angeles]… what [the movie] is based on,” Post Malone said. “Maybe it was the 40s or 50s, there was this object. And there’s pictures of us trying to blow it up. Even now, for them to be like, ‘Oh well, we didn’t really have anything. We didn’t see anything. There was nothing there.’ But now, even the pilots are like, ‘We definitely saw some s###. There’s definitely something.'”
More Intriguing Question: What Happens After You Die? Or Do Aliens Exist?
Post Malone then spoke about visiting the Skinwalker Ranch in Utah. The property is famous for supposedly experiencing paranormal and UFO-related activities. He also shared his thoughts on the potential of knowing if there is actual extraterrestrial life.
“I am sure if you ask somebody two questions—if you’re like, ‘Do you wanna know what happens after you die?” he asked. “Or do you wanna know if alien exists?’ What happens after you die, I’d be like, ‘No not really because that’s gonna happen.'”
“But the whole alien deal, you don’t know if the aliens are gonna come down and vaporize you. What if they’re your cool uncle from space?” asked Malone.
DJ Drama has connected with another Hip-Hop artist to present a Gangsta Grillz mixtape. For his latest full-length effort, Drama joined forces with Collective Music Group founder, Yo Gotti.
The forthcoming I Showed U So body of work from Yo Gotti and DJ Drama is expected to arrive on August 4. Yo Gotti released a Gangsta Grillz-branded tape titled I Told U So in 2006.
Gotti’s Gangsta Grillz sequel will be the Memphis rapper’s first solo music release since February 2022. That year’s CM10: Free Game studio LP peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
Throughout his three-decade career, Yo Gotti scored five Top 10 projects. 2013’s I Am, 2016’s The Art of Hustle, 2017’s I Still Am and 2020’s Untrapped also reached the Top 10 region of the Billboard 200.

DJ Drama is coming off a highly successful partnership with Tyler, The Creator. The California native’s Drama-narrated CALL ME If YOU GET LOST debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
The Gangsta Grillz label has become a badge of honor for many rappers. In addition to Gotti, Generation Now head DJ Drama has worked with other stars such as Lil Wayne, T.I., Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Nipsey Hussle, Childish Gambino, Meek Mill, Chris Brown, Pharrell and more.
Yo Gotti’s I Showed U So will land on DSPs shortly after his meeting with First Lady Jill Biden in Washington, D.C. The D.C. United co-owner and the FLOTUS teamed up to host a Major League Soccer Youth Clinic at the White House.
“Empire State Of Mind” is arguably the biggest commercial record in Jay-Z’s catalog. The Alicia Keys-assisted single spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the first lead Number One for Jay.
Alicia Keys recently spoke with Audacy’s Mix 94.7 in Austin, Texas. During the interview, the R&B legend recalled how difficult it was for Jay-Z to lock her in for the “Empire State Of Mind” appearance. Hov almost chose another artist to sing the hook and bridge.
“He had this idea, he wanted to build it out. He wanted to make it the New York energy,” Alicia Keys explained. “The crazy part of that story that I just love is that he actually couldn’t get in touch with me because you go through the different channels, management, all these different places.”
Keys continued, “He couldn’t really get movement on it. And so at one point, he was like, ‘Alright, I might have to move on, I can’t connect with her. I guess I have to do it with somebody else.’ Could you imagine if that ended up happening? I think about it all the time.”
Songwriters Angela Hunte and Jane’t Sewell-Ulepic penned the original version of “Empire State Of Mind” before Jay-Z added his own lyrics to the track. Apparently, Jay first considered the Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige as the featured vocalist instead of Alicia Keys.
“Empire State of Mind” won Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song at the 53rd Grammy Awards in 2011. The RIAA certified The Blueprint 3 single as 9x-Platinum. Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down” also earned a Platinum plaque.
Shad “Bow Wow” Moss wants the world to know he has not swindled a 10-year-old girl. The rapper/actor took to social media to give his side of the story.
A man named Steven Roberson claimed he paid Bow Wow $3000 via Cash App to provide a verse for his daughter’s “Daddy’s Girl” song and they never received the feature. Roberson later filed a lawsuit against Moss.
“Based on the foregoing and as a direct consequence of Defendant’s actions and failures, Plaintiff’s total damages, including costs and attorney’s fees, amount to $15,000.00,” read the court documents from Steven Roberson.
Bow Wow has now responded to the news of the pending legal drama. According to the 36-year-old “Let Me Hold You” performer, he is a victim of stolen identity in the situation.
“D pimpin done got yall again huh? 🤣 I don’t conduct business on apps. I do NOT use or have Cash App. So if you ain’t call management and send a wire… you def was NOT dealing [with] me,” tweeted Bow Wow.
The Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta star continued, “Be careful who yall send y’all’s money to online. This happens [every day] to folks. This [is] the 3rd time somebody acting like me catfishing people.”
Bow Wow began his own career as a child rapper. His debut album, 2000’s Beware of Dog, earned a 2x-Platinum plaque from the RIAA. He also released the Gold-certified Face Off collaborative project with R&B singer Omarion.

Travis Scott has promised fans that his concert at the Pyramids of Giza will go ahead at a later date despite Live Nation canceling the event a week after the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate revoked the show’s license over concerns about the rapper engaging in “peculiar rituals.”
“Egypt at the pyramids will happen,” the Utopia creator tweeted Wednesday (July 26). “But due to demand and detail logistics They just need a bit a time to set lay on lands. I will keep u posted on a date which will be soon love you alllll.”
Egypt at the pyramids will happen But due to demand and detail logistics They just need a bit a time to set lay on lands. I will keep u posted on a date which will be soon love you alllll
His tweet came hours after the promoter officially canceled the show citing “production issues.” Despite the rapper’s claims, Live Nation did not say the event initially slated for July 28 was postponed. Instead, they offered refunds to all ticket holders.
The show first appeared in jeopardy when the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate revoked the license for the concert earlier this month (July 18). The syndicate raised concerns about Travis Scott participating in “peculiar rituals,” which allegedly threatened Egypt’s “authentic societal values and traditions.”
At the time, Live Nation denied reports that the show was canceled. However the syndicate claimed the concert would fall foul of Egyptian law.
Although Travis Scott did not say when the concert at the Pyramids would go ahead, he did tease another four similar shows.
“But in good news I had 4 more of these type of experiences in other places,” he announced. “COORDINATES SOON REACH.”

Drake gave concert-goers at the It’s All a Blur Tour stop in NYC the news they’ve been waiting for, confirming his upcoming album is due in just two weeks.
The Hip-Hop icon snuck in the surprise announcement at the end of his show Wednesday night (Jul 26.) As Drake said farewell to his fans, he dished out some advice.
“Make some new friends,” he told the audience. “If you drink, drink some liquor, if you smoke, smoke some weed.”
Before making his new album announcement, Drake also repeated the advice his father recently dished out to a fan. “And if you like somebody, like my dad says, ‘Keep f######,” he quipped.
Dennis Graham made headlines earlier this week after offering some words of wisdom to a fan. The man was gathered with others waiting outside his son’s hotel.
When the fan asked, “Do you think that I could have a child one day,” Graham responded, “Keep f######.”
After making the reference to his father, Drake teased his upcoming album. He declared, “New York I will be back soon. I have an album dropping for you in like two weeks.”
Then, on July 5, he offered up a few more hints about the project on the opening night of his tour. After saying he’s heard fans’ cries for “old Drake” to make a comeback, Drizzy told the Chicago crowd, “I know it’s summertime I got to give you s###,” before promising to drop the project “real soon.”
While Drake did not give an exact date for his new album, his announcement puts the expected arrival on August 4 or 11.
Cardi B had time for the haters today after sharing the cover art for her joint single with husband Offset, “JEALOUSY.”
Earlier this week, Offset teased the single with a hilarious promotional skit. He reenacted an infamous James Brown interview for the visual teaser while addressing the alleged “drama” between him and Cardi B.
The couple made headlines last month when the “Clout” hitmaker accused his wife of cheating on him. Despite the online drama that ensued, they appeared to patch things up and move forward. However, that didn’t stop fans from accusing Offset and Cardi B of faking the scandal as a “stunt” to push their upcoming single.
The Grammy Award winner revealed she was on the track after sharing the single’s cover art on Wednesday (July 26). It features an image of Cardi pushing her husband in the face while walking away from him.
When an Instagram user responded, “we said it was a stunt they pulled with their relationship,” Cardi B pushed back. She denied faking any relationship drama and called out blogger Tasha K for making up lies about the couple.
“It wasn’t no STUNT ..Tasha K made some ish up and yall was laughing about it and happy ass hell about it,” Cardi B replied. “Now that we putting it in the music is a stunt … Naaa baby be mad at the one who started trolling wit it.”
Cardi followed up on Twitter, adding, “THEY COOCHIE WAS SO WET WHEN THE LIE WAS GOING AROUND NOW it’s a different narrative when we put it in the music ….OOOO IM POPPIN IT ON THIS SONG !!!!”
Exactly !!!THEY COOCHIE WAS SO WET WHEN THE LIE WAS GOING AROUND NOW it’s a different narrative when we put it in the music ….OOOO IM POPPIN IT ON THIS SONG !!!! https://t.co/Z8kislVw99
Meanwhile, Cardi B remains determined to make Tasha K pay for losing a defamation lawsuit last year. She won a $4 million judgment after suing the blogger for defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress in 2019. Now Cardi is reportedly seeking access to Tasha K’s financial records ahead of an upcoming hearing on August 9.
Blueface denied Chrisean Rock’s claim that she “needed” to be drunk while they were together and accused the reality TV starlet of drinking while she’s pregnant.
Chrisean took to Twitter Wednesday (July 26) to say that she can’t be around Blueface now that she’s pregnant because she can no longer drink.
“I was drunk my whole time with him,” she stated, adding, “it wasn’t because I love to drink it was something I needed.”
She continued, “Then wen all of sudden I couldn’t drink no more I honestly couldn’t be around no more.”
However, Blueface rejected her claims claiming that she drinks because she likes alcohol and will be back on the bottle once the baby is born.
“I didn’t raise this young lady,” Blueface said in the Hollywood Unlocked comments section. “She comes from a family that has addiction to substance abuse.”
According to the “Thotiana” hitmaker, “she drank because she liked the way it made her feel.” He denied having anything to do with Chrisean “abusing that feeling,” stating she’s “immature” and “lacking lots of accountability on her end.”
Blueface rounded off his response by claiming Chrisean Rock has been “asking for drinks pregnant without my presence.” He concluded, “when the baby is born she will be drunk all over again.”
While Chrisean Rock has since deleted her post, tweeting instead about her growing stomach, Blueface’s mother responded.
“You was a junky when we met you,” she stated. “I was just saying this morning we about to be a happy family one day because you bringing our baby boy and you on this.”
MC Shan, the Juice Crew legend, took to Instagram to vent his frustrations at Nas for leaving him out of the coveted Hip-Hop 50 celebrations organized throughout the first half of 2023. The Queensbridge native didn’t mince his words when addressing his fellow QB rep.
“Let me tell you something, my n#gga,” MC Shan said. “If you’re doing 50th anniversary shows and you ain’t holla at ya mans, don’t never mention my muthaf##kin’ name again. Don’t put my name in ya mouth about nothing, n#gga.”
Clearly upset, MC Shan emphasized that he doesn’t care about how much money Nas has, as he values loyalty above all else. “I could give a f##k how much money a n#gga got,” he declared. “N#gga, you put your pants on one leg at a time like men n#gga. I ain’t glorified by the sh#t you have.”
While it remains uncertain which specific shows Shan was referring to, Nas has been on tour with Wu-Tang Clan and headlined Madison Square Garden in February. He really has not been involved in a bunch of HipHop50 stuff. Mass Appeal is a company that has agency over that term and has marketed it as such. But that is not the same as Hip-Hop’s 50th Anniversary. To my understanding, Nas has a stake in Mass Appeal Records. They are the ones pushing HipHop50 celebrations, concerts, documentaries, musical releases, and other stuff.
Nas has shown love to his 57-year-old predecessor in the past. It should be noted that Shan has since removed the post, but you know the internet…
It ain’t Nas!!! It’s Mass Appeal! Be mad at them! LOL! Maybe he realized it and took it down.
Tina Knowles, the renowned fashion designer and mother of megastar Beyoncé, has taken a decisive step to end her second marriage with actor Richard Lawson. After eight years of union, Tina officially filed for divorce.
Tina cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, setting the date of separation as the preceding Tuesday. The couple tied the knot back in April 2015, but their journey together did not include having children of their own, as Tina’s two beloved daughters, Beyoncé and Solange, were from her first marriage with Mathew Knowles.
In docs obtained by TMZ, Tina seeks to terminate the court’s ability to grant spousal support to either her or Richard, indicating an amicable approach to the dissolution of their marriage. Alongside this move, Tina has reverted her name back to Celestine Knowles.
There was no immediate comment from reps for Beyoncé, Tina, or Richard Lawson.
Jeezy reflected on the desperation he felt to make it as a rapper in an interview with Yahoo News. The multi-platinum selling artist discussed the dire circumstances he faced if he did not make it in the music industry.
“I just knew that there wasn’t no other way if I didn’t figure it out,” Jeezy said. “I was going to end up in prison or probably dead like the rest of my friends.”
He added, “I was writing my music as if I wasn’t gonna be there anymore. So, I was like, ‘This better be the best I ever said.’ And so that’s what Trap or Die and Thug Motivation was. Because I was preparing myself for the worst and when it popped, I understood. And now I was like, ‘OK, I gotta sustain this.’ So, I just carried that same energy into all my next projects.”
Jeezy revisited stories from his childhood and music career in the new memoirAdversity for Sale: Ya Gotta Believe. He wrote about growing up as a military brat, surviving life in the trap game and finding his lane in Hip-Hop.
Adversity for Sale is scheduled to drop on August 8. Jeezy narrated the audiobook version of the memoir, which is available for pre-order.
In today’s digital age, the internet serves many purposes since it is not only a place where you can connect with people, but also a place where you can start a meaningful relationship. That is at least the case with the celebrities on our list. Although stars are known for their glamorous life, they still turn to dating apps under the spotlight, as well as to social media platforms when looking for love.
Today’s topic of our article will focus on celebrity couples that met online. We will also look at dating and hookup sites, what are the differences between the two, and how you can successfully navigate them.
Celebrity Couples Who Found Love Online
As we discussed earlier, despite all the glitz and glamour many celebrities turn to online platforms when looking for love. Whether they met by accident or were searching for love online, the celebrities that we listed below have managed to find the love of their life online.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner
It all started when Joe Jonas messaged the beautiful Sophie on Instagram back in 2016. According to the famous actress they already had mutual friends that wanted to introduce the couple for a long time, however, it was a direct message on Instagram that started it all. They got married in 2019, they are parents to two daughters and are still happily in love. So you might consider responding to a direct message since you never know where it can lead.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
Nick Jonas followed in his brother’s footsteps and also met his lovely wife Priyanka online. However, their love blossomed thanks to Twitter. Nick was a fan of the show Quantico where Priyanka was the lead and he decided to message her on Twitter that was the start of a beautiful love story that resulted in a fairytale wedding and a beautiful baby girl.
Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams
Sarah Hyland, the star of the famous TV show Modern Family met her husband Wells Adams on social media back in 2017. Their relationship started by exchanging flirty messages on Twitter. They later got engaged in July 2019 and finally tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in August 2022.
There you have it, some celebrity couples that you probably didn’t know met online. While these couples did meet thanks to social media, we regular folks tend to lean into dating and hookup apps more. That is why we will take a closer look at dating and hookup sites as well as how to successfully manage them.
The Rise of Dating and Hookup Apps
Dating apps have completely revolutionized the way in which we meet people and form relationships. These platforms offer both a convenient and also efficient way to meet new people based on your preferences. The clever algorithms of these apps connect you to people that share similar interests and values as you thus the chances of meeting the right one are higher.
Hookup sites on the other hand are designed for people that are looking for casual encounters rather than committed relationships. These sites are more based on physical attraction and are a great option for people that are just looking for some fun. While dating apps’ primary focus is forming meaningful and long-term relationships, hookup sites are the complete opposite. So based on your desires, you can choose which platforms best suit you.
Navigating Dating and Hookup Sites
There are a few tips that can come in handy when navigating dating and hookup sites. The first and most important tip is to be honest when creating a profile. Share your thoughts and interest genuinely so that you might connect with people that have the same interest. It is also important to express your expectations and boundaries so that the people you meet can respect them.
Scrolling through these platforms should just be a way to pass your time, rather you should take a closer look at who you are swiping right to. Take your time to look at the pictures, read the bios, and find out more about your potential match. Meeting people online also requires caution so remember to never share personal information and choose to meet in a public place until you get to know them better.
Also finding potential partners online takes a lot of patience since not all of your matches will work out. Be patient and find a way to enjoy meeting new people, you might even make some friends.
Final Thoughts
Celebrities that met each other online are not an uncommon phenomenon anymore and while they might not choose to access a dating or hookup site since they are celebrities and are easily recognizable, social media has proven to be a valuable tool when celebrities are looking for love.
On the other hand, regular folks can enjoy all the benefits that come with dating and hookup sites. What site you choose depends on what kind of a relationship you are looking for but nevertheless, there is something for everyone when it comes to meeting new people online.
Live Nation officially canceled Travis Scott’s concert at the Pyramids of Giza.
The concert promoter cited “production issues” in a statement announcing the cancellation on Wednesday (July 26). Travis Scott was originally scheduled to perform in Egypt on Friday (July 28).
“Unfortunately, despite highest efforts, complex production issues meant that the show could not be constructed in the desert,” Live Nation said. “We understand that this news is disappointing and not the outcome any of us desired.”
The company added, “Refunds will be issued to all ticket holders at their point of purchase. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may have caused and appreciated your understanding.”
Travis Scott’s show was canceled a week after the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate revoked the license for the concert. The syndicate raised concerns about the rapper engaging in “peculiar rituals,” which allegedly threatened Egypt’s “authentic societal values and traditions.”
Live Nation planned to proceed with the concert despite the syndicate’s objections. Last week, the company denied reports claiming the show was canceled.
The Egyptian Musicians Syndicate’s media advisor said Live Nation was going against Egyptian law if it moved forward with the Travis Scott concert. The concert promoter did not mention the syndicate when it confirmed the show’s cancellation on Wednesday.
Bow Wow’s government name is tied up in yet another challenge, but this time it’s a legal dispute rather than a social media trend.
A recent lawsuit against Shad Moss claims Bow Wow accepted $15,000 to record a feature verse for a young spitter—which he allegedly never completed. If I’m being honest though, the exact amount of money left on the floor is to be determined. Especially considering big bro basically ran off on the plug twice as court documents show Bow Wow was sent at least $3,000 via Cash app. However, the father of the pre-teen lyricist is suing for the aforementioned figure.
“Based on the foregoing and as a direct consequence of Defendant’s actions and failures, Plaintiff’s total damages, including costs and attorney’s fees, amount to $15,000.00,” the court document states.
All jokes aside, you would think folks would give Bow Weezy the benefit of the doubt, especially since he is the father of two—one being a 12-year-old girl. However, it’s times like these that Bow Wow’s previous shenanigans, such as pocketing $1,000 in ones 50 Cent gave him to throw in the strip club, that make it hard to cut him some slack.
And yet, while Bow Wow is definitely the type of person to lie about whether he’s actually flying on a private jet or commercial, he doesn’t actually strike me as the scam rap type. If anything, Bow Wow is to Guapdad 4000 what Kasher Quon is to Punchmade Dev. Just think about that, it really makes sense. Like, you don’t listen to Guapdad’s music and immediately invest in a VPN like I did after I listened to “Wire Fraud Tutorial.”
But anyways, I was just trying to say Bow Weezy isn’t a scammer. If anything, he’s a harmless crank yanker. And he actually reminded us of such while addressing the allegations on social media and referencing his infamous Catfish doppleganger in the process.
“D pimpin done got yall again huh?,” Bow Wow wrote in a tweet. “I dont conduct business on apps. I do NOT use or have cash app. So if you aint call management and send a wire .. you def was NOT dealing w me. Be careful who yall send yalls money to online. This happens everyday to folks. This the 3rd time somebody acting like me catfishing people.”
D pimpin done got yall again huh? 🤣 i dont conduct business on apps. I do NOT use or have cash app. So if you aint call management and send a wire .. you def was NOT dealing w me. Be careful who yall send yalls money to online. This happens everyday to folks. This the 3rd time…
Believe it or not, muthaf###as have been finessing folks under the guise of Bow Wow’s likeness for quite some time now. The “Dee Pimpin” individual Bow Wow refers to in his statement about the lawsuit is actually the Atlanta-based Lesbian rapper notoriously featured on an episode of Catfish back in 2013. Shawty actually sent the ting she was gaming up 10 racks just to show her it’s real!
Now, whether it was a female rapper, who also doubles as a reality TV star, behind the scam targeting the 10-year-old isn’t a question that none of us can answer right now. One thing we all do know for sure is that this man Bow Wow has some stunt doubles ready on standby in case he decides to shoot a film or a visual reminiscent of Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady.”

Doja Cat
If you don’t live under a rock, you’ve probably heard of Doja Cat. Doja Cat started small, with a few tracks hitting it on Soundcloud. It wasn’t long until fame found her. It’s no surprise. Even her earlier tracks showcased a unique creativity that not many other artists genuinely had. Doja was turning heads from the start. She had that IT factor.
Now she puts out songs, and she raps. Doja is not only a good artist in the studio, but she’s also an amazing dancer and performer. She’s not shy from the spotlight, with many of her flamboyant and controversial looks on the front pages, from red bedazzled MET Gala looks to prosthetic cat faces.
Before she was Doja, she was Born Amala Dlamini and grew up in no other than Los Angeles. She’s a genre-blending artist whose music features elements of pop, hip-hop, and R&B. Because of her unique persona, style, and her energetic music, Doja Cat has made herself a household name in the time of her career.
Azealia Banks
Controversial and sometimes problematic but immensely talented, Azealia Banks is a genre-breaking woman of hip hop and one of the first who has rapped on house beats and went viral and mainstream. Unique, creative, bold, and very edgy, her music is a ride to explore.
She sings, she raps, and she has immense creative direction over her songs and her videos. Despite her problematic past behavior, she’s maintained a global fanbase that appreciates her unique style and fearlessness. Since she challenges conventions and pushes boundaries, no wonder she’s made a name for herself in the hip-hop scene.
Rapsody
Rapsody is on the list for being a powerful female rapper who’s highly skilled. In her lyrics, it’s apparent that her talent shines through. Not only that, but she writes very thought-provoking lyrics that tell an impactful story. She’s not superficial, and she likes to go deep. She’s gained critical acclaim because of this and, of course, a loyal fan base.
She was bound to blow up, being featured in artists’ albums like Kendrick Lamar. She was born as Marlanna Evans, and her conscious rapping and exceptional lyricism have helped her pave a respectful career. She grew up in North Carolina. Rapsody uses her music to address social issues, her growth, how it is to be a black artist, and more. Her depth and talent have solidified her position in the rap game.
Highly independent and very catchy hip-hop artist Qveen Herby has garnered global attention for her confident, catchy, and bold rapping style. A singer, rapper, and songwriter, Herby paved her way with the help of the internet, and it seems like her colorful music videos worked their magic on her fans.
Qveen Herby
Born as Any Noonan, she used to be part of the pop duo ‘Karmin’ before she set off on her own to do it solo. Her music is a functional blend of hip-hop, R&B, and pop. Her beats are fresh and never fail to make you thump your head. She’s a great representative of women in hip-hop. Her lyrics and songs empower many throughout the world.
Latto
Sultry, confident, and talented rapper, singer, and songwriter Latto is an upcoming artist who is currently garnering worldwide attention. She recently just came out with a banger hit with world superstar Jungkook from BTS, so she’s going to get a lot of exposure from the single “Seven.”
She was born Alyssa Stephens. She won a reality TV show, which also helped her build her music career. She was in the show called “The Rap Game” and has established herself in the music industry since. She’s confident and clever, and her lyrics are bold and don’t hold back like many women in hip-hop. She mixes trap, hip-hop, and R&B and has a loyal fan base.
Nicki Minaj
Nicki has had a long run in the industry, and she hasn’t stopped. She’s very dedicated to her career. You have probably heard of Nicki Minaj in one way or the other – her bold, brash attitude and her striking visuals have gotten her some hostility but have also amassed a huge fan base.
Nicki is controversial since she doesn’t hold back the punches, but there’s no denying that she’s a trendsetter, a very talented rapper, and a good singer. She’s released many songs since her career and established herself as a world-renowned superstar.
She was born Onika Maraj, not too far from her stage name. She’s a Trinidadian-American who’s taken the world by storm with her witty wordplay, domineering attitude, and striking style. She mixes hip-hop, pop, and R&B. Her larger-than-life persona and fearless self-expression have only helped her gain global status.
Final Thoughts
The hip-hop scene for women might not be as saturated as the men’s hip-hop scene, but there are still many great artists that represent this corner. Bold lyrics, bold looks, catchy music, and confident stars dominate the hip-hop scene and perhaps encourage their fans to break out of their shells. That’s why we love women in hip-hop. Their influence on our confidence is welcomed.
Several Fox News talking heads defended country singer Jason Aldean’s controversial single “Try That in a Small Town” by comparing it to violent Hip-Hop songs, that have historically been seen as “pro-crime” and “anti-police.”
The issue is that many believe Aldean’s song is a dog whistle that subversively nods to white supremacy and domestic terrorist acts against Black people.
A compilation of the Fox News shows juxtaposing liberals’ and Black people’s outrage for Aldean’s song against rap songs has been compiled by Media Matters for America. One of them is from Jeanine Pirro, a co-host on the show, “The Five.”
She said, “Let me tell you about a song that no one has protested, that we certainly are not talking about at this table, called ‘F tha Police’ by N.W.A.”
After reciting the lyrics from the 1988 song, she questioned, “Now, I don’t hear anyone talking about that. Why?”
Another song brought into focus was Snoop Dogg’s single with BADBADNOTGOOD, “Lavender.”
Lauren Conlin, Kimberly Guilfoyle and Harris Kimberley Faulkner admonished the song on “The Faulkner Focus,” pointing to the West Coast rapper holding a toy gun at a clown version of former president Donald Trump.
Guilfoyle was so offended, she allegedly said the Secret Service should kill the rapper for the offensive video, with Faulkner, a Black woman, joining in and saying, “My whole thing is that, you know, there are a lot of songs out there with lyrics that are extremely offensive. Things that rhyme with ‘trigger.’ All sorts of things.”
Another rap song brought into question was Nas’ “Cop Shot the Kid.”
Las Vegas-based artist Ez Mil inked a deal with Eminem and Dr. Dre. Shady Records announced Ez Mil’s signing on Wednesday (July 26).
Ez Mil signed a joint deal with Shady Records, Interscope Records and Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. The rapper will drop DU4LI7Y: REDUX, his final release for Virgin Music, on August 11. The project includes a collaboration with Eminem.
“We’ve never been out there signing a lot of artists, and one of the great things about how we built Shady is how selective we’ve been,” Eminem said. “And it’s even rarer that Dre and I sign something together – but I heard Ez’s music and was like, ‘This is really special” so I took it to Dre. We both agreed it would be a great fit and we wanted to work with him right on the spot.”
Dr. Dre believed he and Eminem found someone unique in Ez Mil. The iconic producer was eager to work with his latest signee.
“I’m really only interested in working on s### that sounds different from anything else going on out there, and only then if I feel I can really bring something to it,” Dr. Dre said. “Em played me Ez and I had that feeling…that thing that happens when we both know we’ve found something special. And that was it.”
Eminem shared Ez Mil’s song “Up Down (Step & Walk)” on social media, telling fans it was “why we signed him.”
A judge upheld the damages awarded to Soulja Boy’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Myers in her lawsuit against the multi-platinum selling artist.
According to Radar Online, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge rejected Soulja Boy’s request to throw out the damages in the civil case. The rapper claimed he did not have enough money to pay his ex, but the judge was unconvinced.
Myers sued Soulja Boy for assaulting her at a 2019 house party in Malibu. A California jury awarded her roughly $236,000 in damages and another $236,000 in punitive damages at a trial in April.
Soulja Boy said he owed $1 million to the IRS, making it too difficult for him to pay Myers. But he admitted to paying $25,000 monthly to live in a mansion, raising doubts about his alleged financial struggles.
“Someone as close to zero (financially) as defendant claims to be might want to scale down the living arrangements,” the judge said. “$25,000 is a lot of monthly rent—even in Los Angeles. There is no reason of which the court is aware that he could not relocate to a more ‘modest’ $10,000/month home.”
The judge determined Soulja Boy earned enough money to cover the damages awarded to Myers.
“Defendant must be earning money from somewhere sufficient to pay for the rent and whatever other monthly expenses he has,” the judge noted. “In other words, defendant is paying $300,000/year in rent alone. It stands to reason that he must have some other living expenses. And that money must come from somewhere. It is not coming from loans, for defendant did not testify as to any other debts.”
The judge continued, “So, although the court does not know from whence the money is coming, it is coming from somewhere. It is not an impossible inference to conclude that his overall financial condition must be sufficient to allow him to live the lifestyle he does without going into debt.”
Myers accused Soulja Boy of beating her and ordering an associate to hold her captive for hours. He denied his ex’s allegations.
Nicki Minaj allegedly didn’t let the makers of a hip-hop docuseries license her music.
Netflix executives released a trailer for the forthcoming docuseries “Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop,” featuring appearances from Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Saweetie, Coi Leray, and Latto, among others.
Nicki’s fans took to Twitter, also known as X, to blast her snub, and Shawn Allen, who allegedly co-produced the project, claimed she wouldn’t let the team use her music or video promos.
“Nicki didn’t let us license her music & videos,” Allen wrote to a fan outraged by the omission. Allen confirmed to another user that they planned to include the “Starships” rapper, but “it didn’t make sense bc she didn’t give us any licensing.”
He claimed that was the exact reason why “Get Ur Freak On” hitmaker Missy Elliott isn’t included in the series.
Allen alleged that Nicki refused to license her material elsewhere because she was working on her own project.
“I think bc Nicki is working on her own doc…I don’t understand why Missy didn’t agree,” he added before clarifying that Netflix officials bought the four-episode documentary but didn’t produce it.
Rapper Superstar Pride, 20, has been charged with first-degree murder in the Mississippi shooting death of his barber.
According to FOX 13, the rising star allegedly shot the victim, Marcus Wheatley, in his Cold Springs home and turned himself in on Wednesday (July 19)— the same day of the murder.
He was immediately placed in the Panola County Jail, where he’s being held without bond. Sheriff Shane Phelps said a 911 call was received regarding a shooting incident. Wheatley, 41, was found dead in the residence upon the officers’ arrival. One of Superstar Pride’s family members told a Memphis news station he’d allegedly aimed a weapon at her before firing at the victim.
“Right now this is a puzzle,” Phelps said. “We don’t know why Cadarrius Pride shot Marcus Wheatley. They were friends and had known each other a long time. We are interviewing people and asking questions and sooner or later the truth is going to come out.”
Panolian.com reports the sheriff also stated that two days before the shooting, the rapper’s family signed papers at the Sheriff’s Office requesting that he be picked up for mental evaluation. Deputies tried to locate him to honor the request but couldn’t find him despite searching two different residences.
Superstar Pride had a breakout song titled “Painting Pictures” that reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts earlier this year. The song also made waves on TikTok.
