Mary J. Blige Says She Will Destroy Anyone Who Tries To Take Away Her Happiness

Mary J. Blige is at a stage in her life where she’s feeling amazing, and she’s not going to allow anyone to stop her from being happy.

The undisputed Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has continued to rack up the accolades in 20002, four decades into her illustrious career in the industry. She was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time magazine earlier this year. Earlier that month, Mary J. Blige was honored with the 2002 Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards.

However, it has taken a long time for Mary to overcome the trauma of her divorce from her ex-husband Kendu Isaacs after they separated in 2016. The couple had an acrimonious split; she accused him of having an affair, and their divorce was finalized two years later.

She recently revealed how the divorce left her so broke she couldn’t afford to keep a roof over her head. She explained to Angie Martinez, back in February, that her song “Rent Money,” with Dave East, was about the financial hardship she suffered during the divorce.

Now in a new interview with the NYC radio icon on the IRL podcast, Mary J. Blige admitted wanting to find love, but strictly on her terms.

“Now I want love, but love for me first,” she said. “The love for Mary, I found it. And I’ll f### anybody up that tries to take it away from me. Because it’s so real and so good, and I worked for it, and I earned it. And I keep having to work on it every single day — and it’s a job, it’s a real job.”

Later in the interview Mary J. Blige recalled how far she’s come, explaining that she always disliked herself growing up. “I hated the sound of my voice, and I’d be like, ‘Ugh, that’s me?’ Now, it’s like, ‘I need to hear that again.’ It’s a miracle,” she said before breaking out into a laugh. Check out the interview below.

Kelis Is Coming For Beyoncé & Pharrell: “I Want Reparations,” Amid “Renaissance” Sample Issues

Kelis has had enough of industry “bullies’ and “gangsters” and is coming for what’s rightfully hers, blasting Beyoncé and Pharrell, accusing them of stealing her music.

The “Milkshake” hitmaker voiced her criticism after learning her song “Get Along With You,” was sampled on Renaissance. She called out Beyoncé for “theft,” and later shared two videos to clarify her frustrations.

Kelis Calls Out Beyoncé & Pharrell

“My real beef is not only with Beyonce,” she said, explaining that the whole thing was “stupid and disrespectful” but wishes her people reached out before including the sample. “The real issue,” she said, is with people like Pharrell and Chad.” She then referred to Neptunes’ co-founder Chad Hugo as a “spineless amoeba. She also said she was “surprised he can keep his neck up.”

However, she said Pharrell “does this stuff all the time” despite knowing better. Furthermore, Kelis accused the producer of being “petty,” and “passive aggressive,” claiming “this was a direct hit.”

Kelis fell out with the Neptunes, who produced her first two albums, claiming they tricked her out of making any money from the projects.

“I Want Reparations”

In the second video clip, Kelis reiterated: “This is really not about Beyoncé,” continuing to call out Pharrell.

“There’s a lot of hypocrisy and a lot of nonsense,” she explained before recalling a Pharrell interview from last year about crediting artists for their work. “He has writing credits on my records, all my singles,” she revealed. “And he never wrote a song, a lyric a day in his life. And yeah, that’s a problem.”

Kelis then turned her attention back to Beyoncé, blasting her for failing to support women in real life while singing about female empowerment.

“Then we have Beyoncé, who like I said, out of human decency and artistry and females — just all of the stuff she sings about, empowerment and stuff. I don’t talk about it, I am about it, OK? So the reality is all this female empowerment and stuff, it only counts if you really do it, if you’re really living it and walking the walk.”

Despite admitting being triggered by the situation, Kelis announced “enough is enough.”

She added, “Milkshake alone is one of the most licensed records of our generation. I am a creator, I’m an innovator, I have done more then left my mark on an era of music and style that will go down in history. But there are bully’s and secrets and gangsters in this industry that smile and get away with it until someone says enough is enough. So I’m saying it today. I’m coming for what’s mine and I want reparations. Peace.”

Kelis Puts Beyoncé On Blast Over Sample: “It’s Theft”

Beyoncé faced criticism from Kelis, who took issue with one of her singles being sampled on Bey’s new album Renaissance.

Kelis initially called out Beyoncé in the comments of an Instagram fan page. According to Kelis, Beyoncé never sought her permission to sample the singer’s work.

“My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding,” she wrote. “I heard about this the same way everyone else did. Nothing is ever as it seems, some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled.”

She added, “It’s not a collab it’s theft.”

Kelis later clarified her concerns in a video posted on Instagram. She recalled her troubles with The Neptunes, who produced her first two albums and several tracks on her third LP.

The 42-year-old artist slammed Pharrell for alleged misdeeds in her career. She then turned her attention to Beyoncé over a track titled “Energy.”

“All this female empowerment stuff, it only counts if you really do it,” she said. “If you’re really living it and walking the walk, don’t just talk the talk.”

Gucci Mane Regrets “Dissin The Dead” & Calls For Rappers To Stop The Trend

Gucci Mane felt accountable for rappers disparaging the dead.

The veteran rapper reconsidered his past raps on a new song titled “Dissin the Dead.” Gucci Mane hoped other artists would follow his lead and stop mentioning the deceased in disses.

“I know my tongue is a sword, I know I should be more careful with s### that I said/I feel like I started a trend that never gon’ stop, they gon’ keep dissing the dead/None of this s###’s pretend, this s### so for real, a n#### get shot in the head/Young n#### wicked on pills and going on drills, we need to stop dissing the dead,” he rapped on the song’s hook.

Gucci Mane famously dissed the dead during his feud with Jeezy. Guwop mentioned shooting and killing Jeezy’s affiliate Pookie Loc on a 2012 track titled “Truth.”

“Go dig your partner up, n####, bet he can’t say s###/And if you looking for the kid, I’ll be in Zone 6,” he rapped.

More recently, Gucci Mane mentioned Pookie Loc again on a song called “Rumors.” The Lil Durk-assisted track dropped in January.

“D.A. dropped my murder, didn’t have evidence to prove it/I think my house is haunted, yeah, by who? The ghost of Pookie,” Guwop rapped.

Since then, Gucci Mane apparently had a change of heart.

Rapper MyVerse Becomes First Battler To Do A TED Talks — Brings To Life Climate Control Through Emceeing

Rock Steady Alum, Commercial and Battle Rapper, MyVerse debut on the highly prestigious TED Talks’ Countdown stage, along with Samir Ibrahim and Kristen Warren.

The title of the experience was called “How Hip-Hop Can Make Climate Action Cool,” and focused on how “music can amplify social issues and inspire people to care about new (and sometimes unexpected) topics.”

“But can it take something as dire as climate change and make it mainstream?” a description of the talk read.  “With artists MyVerse and Kristen Warren as an inspiring opening act, social entrepreneur Samir Ibrahim suggests hip-hop and its stars can help us move from talking about the problem to rapping about (and acting on) solutions.”

The Latina emcee partnered with her colleagues to make accessible the concept of climate change through a Hip-Hop song, “Mother’s Mind.”

As she rhymed as the personification of Mother Earth, dropping jewels on how everyday people can make a difference, Warren warbled in the background before opening up her fiercely warm mezzo-soprano to give life to the message.

In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, MyVerse spoke about the experience and how it felt to be the first battle rapper to do a TED Talks.

She said, her “experience with TED Talks was truly an eye-opening experience.”

“From learning about underdeveloped communities that are being most affected by climate change to seeing the length that certain companies will go to to make us believe that there is nothing wrong,” she marveled. “I was honored to be a voice for Hip-Hop (alongside my girl Kristen Warren), to show the power it has on social change.”

“In fact, it made me want to better my habits moving forward for our planet’s future.”

Many influencers in the Hip-Hop space have been invited to the exclusive platform to share their inspirational journey.

Bevy Smith, Harlemite, Socialite, Actor, Best-Selling Author of “Bevelations,” Radio Personality, Travel Noir Connoisseur, Cultural Ambassador for the Universal Hip Hop Museum and Lifestyle & Fashion “It” Woman, whose signature phrase “It gets greater, later,” debuted on the stage earlier this year.

Her talk titled, “How to Discover Your Authentic Self —at Any Age” is almost half a million views in only three months.

Gospel rapper Lecrae has done one. Chart-topping rapper Cordae has done one. Kid Cudi… Rapper and Engineer Shelem … and Rap Pioneer Kurtis Blow have all done one, become some of the less than 50 videos incorporating the cultural movement into their 10 to 20 minutes of lesson sharing.

The CEO of AllHipHop.com, Chuck Creekmur also addressed the audience, speaking on “Why Planning is Overrated,” assisting the school to make history.

The event became the first HBCU to host a TED Talks on its campus.

He spoke about moving from Delaware to New York and starting his business. He talked about how much he planned, but his plan took some time to take shape. However, tenacity, never giving up, and hard work helped him realize his dream of being a magazine or media mogul.

Wallo267 And Gillie Da King To Give Out $4 Million In Grant Money To Minority Owned Businesses And Non-Profit

It hasn’t been long since Wallo267 was released from prison and started his journey as a motivational speaker, podcaster, and legitimate businessman.

After he and his cousin Gillie Da King linked a lucrative deal for his podcast with Barstool Sports, the two Philly legends and former members of Major Figgaz, have decided to give back in a major way.

Along with their partners, they will be giving away $4 million worth of grants to Black-owned businesses.

The young buhl said, “As of this day, July 27th ‘Million Dollaz Worth of Game,’ Barstool Difference, Barstool Sports, we have already given out $2.4 million dollars to businesses.”

They did not only fund businesses in Philly but across the country. One nonprofit in Louisiana, that works with children received $300,000. This was the largest contribution that the collective gave with their first round.

This time around, according to the duo, the philanthropic collective was approved to give away $4 million in grant money to qualifying “minority-owned businesses already in operation,”

“I have a list of people we gotta take some money to tomorrow,” Wallo said, before adding, “If you filed, we might be coming for you tomorrow or we might be coming for you next week.”

Donald Trump Parties At Nelly Performance

President Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, rocked out at a Nelly concert he sponsored in New York City’s Gotham Hall.

According to the New York Post, the disgraced politician attended an LIV Golf-sponsored party on Wednesday, July 27. The event was the kick-off activation a day before the league’s tournament across the Hudson, in New Jersey at his golf course.

Here is the chart-topper featured on a Twitter post of Patriot Takes, a MAGAmaniacal organization, supporting 45.

Video shows him performing for a sea of white republicans, his hit song, “It’s Getting Hot in Here.”

Clay Travis also posted.

According to Celebrity Talent, it cost anywhere from $75K to $149K to book him, but depending on the event, the number of songs, and his rider, those numbers can balloon.

Nelly wasn’t the only celebrity in the spot. Trump connected with Republican and transwoman, Caitlyn Jenner — who spent the first half of her life as Olympic Decathlon gold medal winner Bruce Jenner and ex-husband to Kris Jenner, the mother of Kim Kardashian.

Jenner is scheduled to participate in The LIV Golf Bedminster pro-am will take place Thursday, July 28, starting at 10 a.m. with two former NFL stars, Sporting News reveals, and NBA All-Star and Basketball Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley.

The pro-am will take place at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.

Many might be shocked that Nelly took the gig in the first place, considering all of the smoke around Trump and his part in the Jan. 6th insurrection. But he has previously said he rocks with the ginger, at least before he was the president.

“I liked Donald Trump,” Nelly admitted to Page Six in 2017. “I did. I just don’t like Donald Trump as my president,” the Grammy winner continued. “Dude is a trip.”

“Pre-presidency, I was cool with The Donald. Loved his hotels,” he also shared.

Nelly remarked, “He doesn’t surprise me as a person, he surprises me as a president because you don’t expect certain things, certain attitudes.”

Guess now that he is out of office, it is all good.

With him in attendance at the Nelly headlined event was his current wife, Melania, only weeks after his first wife Ivana transitioned.

Good News: Women With Bigger Butts Are Smarter!

They say “never trust a big butt and a smile,” but maybe it is time to reconsider.

Oxford University has revealed some new research that show that there is positive evidence of a link between a big booty and intelligence. The study says specifically that the storage of fat is a positive in terms of general health. But, also important is where the fat is.

Apparently, the women that are bottom heavy are generally healthier and smarter than their thin counterparts. That’s right! Big body gals are up! One of the lead scholars of the study, Konstantinos Manolopoulous, said that “the idea that body fat distribution is important to health has been known for some time.” How the fat is distributed is important as well.

A report said:

Lower body fat keeps the fatty acids further from the heart, the main arteries, and the liver, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Unlike “apple shaped” women with more upper body and belly fat, women with larger behind report lower levels of cholesterol and glucose.

Source

Now, I am going to say what may not need to be said, if you have one of those fake booties, this is not for you. This is for those ladies that went down to Brazilian butt lift – y’all not included! But, that does not mean Iggy is not a smart chick! She is!

Well, this is actually some good news! I can’t believe it…a sign the world isn’t ending.

NLE Choppa Explains Claiming He Can Cure Cancer

Bryson Lashun Potts is very open about embracing a vegan and holistic lifestyle. The Memphis-born recording artist, better known as NLE Choppa, even suggested his personal remedies can treat serious illnesses.

Back in June, NLE Choppa let his Twitter followers know that he wanted to help Pop superstar Justin Bieber with his Ramsay Hunt diagnosis. A VladTV article about that tweet sparked a heated online exchange between Choppa and DJ Vlad. The spat included insults being directed at the other.

Both men seemingly reconciled at some point. NLE Choppa actually spoke to DJ Vlad for a new interview. The conversation included Choppa explaining his belief that he has assisted cancer patients with getting healthier.

The Teenager Believes Anyone Can Help Save A Life

“I said I helped someone,” said NLE Choppa. “I’d be lying if I said I got patients in my house and I’m just treating them. I don’t have the time for that. The only thing I can do is be a messenger and provide you with something that I’m blessed with – my energy.”

The 19-year-old rapper added, “As long as you have good intentions, you pray over these things, you talk to them, and you give it to people with the right intentions and they use it and they hear you out consistently with the things that they do within themselves every day, you can help someone. You can help save a life.”

According To NLE Choppa, Humans Have Three Brains

NLE Choppa offered suggestions for achieving good health such as drinking water, eating fruits and vegetables, and implementing herbs. The “Shotta Flow” performer also talked about the power of the mind and how it can affect people’s health.

“What people don’t know is, you really got three brains. You got a brain up here, you got a brain in your digestive system, and you got a brain in your heart. They all function without you having to think about it,” stated NLE Choppa.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee adds, “Working with PBS and BBC is an opportunity to deliver these messages through new ways and help explain Hip Hop’s place in history and hopefully inspire us all to take it further.”

Quando Rondo Addresses Reports He Was Rushed To The Hospital

Was Quando Rondo the victim of fake news this week? According to the Georgia-bred rhymer, reports claiming he was near death in a hospital are completely untrue.

Speculation began circulating online that Quando Rondo had to be taken to a medical facility for an unknown reason. Several outlets shared posts claiming the Atlantic recording artist confirmed the news.

An alleged screenshot attributed to Rondo’s Instagram account quickly spread across social media. The image’s caption read, “Pray for me, in da hospital fightin for my life. 💔💔🙏🏾#fuClean.”

However, YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s protégé came out to directly deny the rumors. Around eleven hours ago, Quando Rondo uploaded a faceless photo to his Instagram Story.

Under the picture, which appeared to be taken on an airplane, the 23-year-old “I Remember” performer wrote, “That’s s### fake ass hell I don’t even type like that ✈️.”

Then Quando Rondo returned to the Instagram platform about five hours later to add a short Triller video to his IG Story. In that clip, his followers got to see his face as he posed with a Stitch chain in his mouth.

Quando Rondo & His Entourage Have Been Connected To Violence In The Past

All this confusion about Quando Rondo’s current health status came after a shooting incident involving the Savannah representative last year. Reports claimed Rondo and his crew faced gunfire at a convenience store in Blackshear, Georgia.

Additionally, law enforcement linked an associate of Rondo to the shooting death of Chicago rapper Dayvon “King Von” Bennett. Authorities named Timothy “Lul Tim” Leek as a suspect for the November 2020 killing outside an Atlanta hookah lounge.

Meanwhile, Quando Rondo continues to release new music. The “War Baby” single arrived in June. A visual for the track collected over 1.8 million views on YouTube. This year has also seen him publish official music videos for “Dead Wrong,” “Jakiyah,” “Six-0 Business,” “10.27” and “24.”

The RIAA Celebrates Future Selling 95 Million Units

Atlanta native Future has been one of the most successful stars in the business for the past decade. Ten years after his major-label debut album, the man born Nayvadius Wilburn continues to rack up industry accolades.

The Recording Industry Association of America recently recognized the 38-year-old rapper/singer for amassing 95 million certified units throughout his record-breaking career. That 95 million total includes RIAA Awards for 9 albums and 68 songs.

Recording Industry Association of America COO Michele Ballantyne and Epic Records Chairwoman/CEO Sylvia Rhone honored Future at an exclusive Soho House Miami Beach event. They presented the Hip Hop star with several RIAA plaques.

RIAA COO Says Future Is In An Elite Group

Future’s most recent studio LP, I Never Liked You, earned Gold status. “Puffin on Zootiez” is also Gold certified. The smash hit “Wait for U” featuring Drake and Tems crossed the 2x-Platinum threshold.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate that Future now has 95 million RIAA certified units spanning 9 albums and 68 separate singles!” states Michele Ballantyne, COO, Recording Industry Association of America.

Ballantyne continues, “He’s in an elite group – very few artists have achieved this level of success in the history of our nearly 65-year-old program. Congratulations to Future and his incredible Epic Records and Freebandz teams!”

“Life Is Good” off High Off Life is Future’s highest-selling single. The RIAA certified the Drake collaboration as Diamond (11x-Platinum). “Mask Off” currently sits at 9x-Platinum. The classic DS2 is 3x-Platinum. It is the southerner’s top certified album.

JayDaYoungan’s Sister Posts Heartfelt Message Following His Death

Law enforcement officials confirmed Javorius “JayDaYoungan” Scott died from gunshot wounds. The 24-year-old, Louisiana-bred rapper’s father, Kenyatta Scott Sr., also suffered injuries during the violent incident.

“This is an update to the press release of a shooting earlier tonight. We can now identify the victims as Javorius Scott, A.K.A. JayDaYoungan, and his father, Kenyatta Scott Sr.,” read a July 27 Facebook post by the Bogalusa Police Department.

The Bogalusa Police Department’s statement about JayDaYoungan’s family continued, “We can also confirm that Javorius Scott has died as a result of his injuries. Kenyatta Scott has been transported to another facility and we have been told he is in stable condition.”

At one point, JayDaYoungan’s sister seemed to deny the Baby23 album creator had passed away. Several outlets reposted messages from Kenya Janell where she blasted the media for essentially spreading fake news.

However, a few hours ago, Kenya Janell took to her main Instagram page to corroborate the reports of her sibling’s passing. The social media influencer also posted several videos and photos of JayDaYoungan on her Instagram Story.

“Javorious, no way they took you from me like this💔I’m sick to my stomach, they wanted this… they wanted to see you like this bro,” wrote Janell about JayDaYoungan. “I’m so sorry💔I love you so much!!! Sister is so hurt. I literally watched you grow from the ground up [with] this rapping [s###]!”

She added, “You [were] the goat in my eyes, especially from where we come from baby I’m so sorry!!!!! Jay you literally hurt us with this [s###]!!! Dawg this cannot be life!!! I got J.R., and I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. 23 FOREVER AND I’M STANDING ON IT.🖤🕊🩸CITY WILL GET PAINTED RED!”

Central Cee saw his latest single, “Doja,” go viral after generating millions of plays from a snippet on TikTok before the song was even released.

Earlier this week, U.K. radio station Capital XTRA reached out to the artist for a radio edit, as the song is laden with cuss words and potentially offensive lyrics.

“I need a clean version for radio. I ain’t got s### to say, they want me to change my lyrics but they won’t hit the same,” the West Londoner raps. “This guys trolling us innit,” the host remarks before adding, “we’re still gonna play it.” Check out the clip below.

Has Doja Cat Joined The Insect-Eating Trend?

Doja Cat is vocal about how much she loves food and cooking and even recently announced plans for a new cooking show.

If her latest food adventures are anything to go by, her recipes, fans might have to go crawling around the backyard to find ingredients rather than the pantry as the “Say So” hitmaker appears to be a fan of eating insects.

Doja Cat took to Instagram on Wednesday (Jul. 27) to share a new selfie alongside a close-up of her sweet treat. However, her lollipop was covered with several ants, although it’s unclear whether Doja bought the lollipop with the ants or if they found their way by accident.

However, Doja Cat isn’t the only celeb to add ants to their diet. Earlier this month Lupita Nyong’o chowed down on the insects at an event to promote food sustainability.

“It’s ants,” she explains in the clip, showing her food to the camera. “It’s really good, it’s not even crunchy or anything.” Lupita captioned the post, “You can call me Ant-Woman!!” adding the hashtags, “#Marvel,” “#Ants” and “#Foodie.”

While Doja Cat and Lupita tired ants, Kanye West chose crickets when trying insects to celebrate in 2018 when his father’s cancer was in remission.

“Overcome fear,” he wrote. “My dad and I are going to eat this plate of bugs to celebrate him beating cancer. No more fear.

Meanwhile, Questlove has also eaten insects on at least a couple of occasions in the past. “I did try a few insects when I went to Korea,” he said in 2013. “We went to a restaurant where snails was the most regular thing they had. It was… interesting.”

Then, in 2015 he shared a photo of himself eating a crickets-on-top salad at Austin’s SXSW (South by Southwest) Food Festival.

“This was not a dare….@questlove is eating crickets and they are delicious,” he penned on Instagram.

RAP Act Introduced In Congress To Ban Lyrics As Evidence In Court Proceedings

A new bill has been introduced to protect artists from the use of their lyrics against them in court, an issue that increasingly affects Hip-Hop artists.

The bill, which is the first of its kind at the federal level, was introduced on Wednesday (Jul. 27) in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressmen Hank Johnson (GA-04) and Jamaal Bowman (NY-16). Titled the Restoring Artistic Protection Act (RAP Act), the bill would impact the Federal Rules of Evidence by adding a presumption “that would limit the admissibility of evidence of an artist’s creative or artistic expression against that artist in court.”

Prosecutors cited their lyrics in the RICO indictment against YSL rapper Young Thug and Gunna. The indictment includes Nine Young Thug songs, with prosecutors using them to portray him as a violent gang figure.

Support For The Rap Act

Following Wednesday’s announcement, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. and Rico Love, chair of the Recording Academy Black Music Collective, remarked:

“Today’s introduction of the RAP Act in the House of Representatives is a crucial step forward in the ongoing battle to stop the weaponization of creative expression as a prosecution tactic. The bias against rap music has been present in our judicial system for far too long, and it’s time we put an end to this unconstitutional practice. We extend our gratitude to Representatives Hank Johnson (D-GA) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) for their leadership on this issue, and we will continue to work closely with them to advance the protections in this bill that ensure all artists can create freely without fear of their work being criminalized.”

“Rap, hip-hop and every lyrical musical piece is a beautiful form of art and expression that must be protected,” Congressman Bowman  added, as per Variety. “I am proud to introduce the RAP Act alongside Rep. Hank Johnson. Our judicial system disparately criminalizes Black and brown lives, including Black and brown creativity.

He then gave the example of 17-year-old Tommy Munsdwell, currently serving life behind bars. His conviction heavily relied upon his song lyrics. “He is not an outlier. Evidence shows when juries believe lyrics to be rap lyrics, there’s a tendency to presume it’s a confession, whereas lyrics for other genres of music are understood to be art, not factual reporting,” Congressman Bowman continued. “This act would ensure that our evidentiary standards protect the First Amendment right to freedom of expression. We cannot imprison our talented artists for expressing their experiences nor will we let their creativity be suppressed.”
