Casanova Is On Suicide Watch

I am not sure what I feel for Casanova 2x. This dude had so much potential. He was THERE. He had a great rap style and he put it down for Brooklyn in a way that worked for new and older generations. But, as was the case, he was too real for his own good. He was too real, even if he didn’t do what he’s pleaded guilty to.

Anyway, we already saw this coming. Cas could only take so much. We saw the cracks in the armor. Facing 60 years, he folded up:

Casanova admitted that he was the triggerman in a July 5th, 2020, shooting at a party in Florida with other gang members. The rapper shot a man over a gambling dispute.

The rap star also admitted to an August 5th, 2018, robbery in Manhattan that caused a woman serious bodily injury while she was being restrained.

He steadfastly maintained he was innocence, but…those odds were stacked so far against him. I can’t imagine going to jail for 60 years. So, you know trial and fighting was not an option.

I am hoping he is not going to kill himself.

But that is what they are saying

On at the stand, Cas said: “They put me on suicide watch a couple of days ago” and that he was in a “holding cell where you wear a smock and stuff.

“[In] my teenage days, I attempted to kill myself a couple of times”

Sad.

Just sad.

The New Kendrick Lamar Album Is Finally Here, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers

Kendrick Lamar has finally delivered the Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers album, his first in five years and last on Top Dawg Entertainment.

The follow-up to 2017’s DAMN features 18 tracks across two discs. Features include Ghostface Killah, Sampha, Baby Keem, Summer Walker, Blxst, Kodak Black, and more.

Earlier this week, Kendrick revealed the project’s cover art shot by photographer Renell Medrano, featuring his children and his partner Whitney Alford. The rapper keeps his private life private, and fans were surprised to see a new baby in the family photo.

He also shared the visuals for the non-album single, “The Heart Part 5,” featuring Kendrick Lamar morphing into various famous faces using deepfake technology.

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is the Compton rapper’s final album on his longtime label TDE after last summer’s announcement that he was leaving.

TDE president called the departure a “full-circle moment” and spoke positively about the future for Kendrick Lamar.

“I don’t even know if I would describe it that way as ready to leave, as more so ready to build his own thing,” Punch explained to Mic in February. “That’s a grown man right now. We watched him grow from a teenager up into an established grown man, a businessman, and one of the greatest artists of all time.”

“He’s doing a great job developing Baby Keem,” he said. “It’s always been there, but now it’s just time and space where he can actually do it. It’s a beautiful thing to watch because that’s something that started with what we built in the beginning. To see it blossom, it’s a full-circle moment.”

Kendrick Lamar is booked to headline Miami’s Rolling Loud in May. He will also headline and close out one night of England’s Glastonbury Festival a month later.

Cardi B Says She Was “Set Up” By Club DJ; He Issues Apology “I Meant No Malice”

Cardi B claimed she was “set up” after a DJ shouted out Nicki Minaj and played her song “Do We Have A Problem,” at an NYC nightclub while the “WAP” rapper and her husband Offset made an appearance.

Offended, Cardi took to the mic to address the DJ, as reported by AllHipHop

Reports also suggest Cardi B was reacting to DJ Will making inappropriate gang-related references and not the mention of Nicki Minaj. The footage went viral, the former feud between the two stars resurfaced once again.

Cardi B Says: “I Handle My Business In Real Life”

However, Cardi B hopped on Instagram Live to address the situation and claimed the whole thing was a stunt.

“M############ were trying to set me up and everything. And let me tell you something, I handle my business in real life,” she said. “I don’t think y’all really knew what was going on. I don’t think y’all understand what was going on, and when somebody tries to explain it, y’all coming sideways. And it’s, like, why?”

She continued: “I bet y’all didn’t know I got set up. I bet y’all not peeping that certain videos were made from professional cameras, because it was all a setup.” Check out the rest of the video below.

DJ Will’s Apology

DJ Will also responded, issuing a “heartfelt” apology to Cardi B and taking responsibility for his “mistake.”

“I’m reading so many stories and narratives about things that happened and didn’t happen and I just want to clear the air,” he said in a statement.

“Last night in the club, a promoter, manager, passed me along information to shout out and unknowingly I ran with it. I never meant any disrespect to Cardi B, Offset, their family, friends, or fans in any way, shape, or form. It was an honest mistake and I feel horrible about it. Normally, that is something I would never do. I always check and double-check information but I was caught up in what I thought was a Hip-Hop moment.”

He continued, “I accept my responsibility for what happened and send my heartfelt apologies to Cardi B and Offset. I meant no malice, it was definitely no set up, I was simply there to rock the party, which is what I do.”

Kanye West Compared Kim Kardashian’s Style To Marge Simpson

Kim Kardashian discussed losing Kanye West as her fashion guru on an episode of Hulu’s new show The Kardashians.

The reality TV star admitted she relied on her ex-husband to style her during their relationship. Kim Kardashian chatted with her sister Kourtney about choosing outfits became more stressful without Kanye West’s input.

“I got to a point where I would ask his advice for everything down to what I wear,” she told Kourtney. “Even now I’m having panic attacks, like what do I wear?”

Kanye West last styled his ex-wife when she hosted Saturday Night Live in October 2021. But according to her, he walked out in the middle of her monologue.

Kim Kardashian debuted her first post-Ye look at the WSJ. Magazine’s annual Innovator Awards in November 2021. Kanye West was apparently unimpressed with her dress.

“He called me afterward,” she recalled. “He told me my career is over. And then he showed me a picture of Marge Simpson wearing something similar.”

Kim Kardashian, who is currently dating Pete Davidson, filed to divorce Kanye West in February 2021. The former couple had been married since 2014.

Earlier this year, a judge declared Kim Kardashian legally single. The billionaire and Ye agreed to joint custody of their four children.

Cardi B Goes Off On DJ After He Shouts Out Nicki Minaj During Party

Cardi B’s old issues with Nicki Minaj bubbled up again at a club appearance.

A DJ ran afoul of the Atlantic Records rapper by shouting out Nicki Minaj at Richie Romero’s Wonderland in New York City on Wednesday (May 11). Cardi B hopped on a microphone and addressed the DJ, who quickly played her hit single “WAP.”

“Who’s in the building tonight?” Cardi B asked. “‘Cause we want all the f###### smoke. Ya heard? We getting dangerous tonight? We getting dangerous tonight? DJ, are we getting f###### dangerous tonight? Big Brim in the building, big Brim in the building. F### outta here!”

“Big Brim” was a reference to Cardi B’s gang ties. The diamond-selling artist previously discussed her Bloods affiliation in a 2018 interview with GQ.

“When I was 16 years old, I used to hang out with a lot of Bloods,” she said. “I used to pop off with my homies. And they’d say, ‘Yo, you really get it poppin’. You should come home. You should turn Blood.’ And I did. Yes, I did.”

Cardi B’s words for the DJ were captured on video. Earlier this year, she vented about being in the public eye after catching flack for a joke at a Met Gala afterparty.

“I feel like God cursed me with fame, deadass,” she said. “Dead f###### ass. God really cursed me with fame because fame is just like – Oh God, ugh, I hate it here. If I could click my f###### feet three times and go back to f###### 2013 when I was just a regular b#### dancing and making money every single night, that’s where I wanna be.”

Jermaine Dupri Latest Rapper To Become A Doctor

Jermaine Dupri has been called producer, talent scout, rapper, breakdancer, businessman, hitmaker, Janet Jackson’s boyfriend, and now he has a new title that folk can call him: DOCTOR.

The Art Institute of Atlanta will be giving the Grammy Award-winning songwriter/producer and CEO of So So Def Recordings an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree.

Soon-to-be Dr. Dupri will move in this official capacity at the school’s Atlanta commencement ceremony on Friday, June 17th.

The rap thought-leader has been a supporter of the Art Institute for years, saying, “The students set to graduate from Ai Atlanta are unlike other graduates – they are truly super creatives – so it’s really exciting for me to speak to them and impart some advice on their special day.”

“I hope they see me as proof that hard work and unrelenting dedication busts down doors and makes anything you want to achieve possible,” Jermaine Dupri added.

Elden Monday, Interim Campus President of The Art Institute of Atlanta, said about the child-star-turned-mogul, “It gives us great pleasure to nominate Jermaine Dupri for an honorary degree from The Art Institute of Atlanta as his impressive achievements serve as an example of our aspirations for our students.”

Jay-Z And Roc Nation To Host Summer Social Justice Summit

The United Justice Coalition, an outfit assembled by Team Roc and backed by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, will be hosting social justice and thought-leaders for a summit unpacking the U.S. midterm elections this summer.

According to ABC News, the event will happen in New York City on Saturday, July 23rd. The aim is to raise awareness about racial justice and policy issues impacting the American BIPOC population.

Roc Nation’s managing director of philanthropy, Dania Diaz, said, “It is an opportunity for people to really learn about issues that impact their communities — issues that are going to inevitably come up in midterm elections — and hopefully, it’ll drive action.”

Some of the brilliant minds tapped to lead discussions are civil rights attorney Ben Crump, Dream Corps. founder Van Jones, Until Freedom co-founder Tamika Mallory, professor, and author Michael Eric Dyson and radio personality Charlamagne Tha God.

Diaz reminds the world that Hip-Hop and social justice are “synonymous.”

“If you think about it from a lyrical standpoint and from just a cultural standpoint, the voices that drive Hip-Hop and the music and the lyrics and the experiences that are brought to the table are really largely from a social and racial justice lens.

And so I think that when we talk about Hip-Hop, as a vehicle to move culture, it’s also a vehicle to address social justice issues and systemic problems,” Diaz said.

This summer’s meeting is the most recent initiative by Team Roc to speak about social justice issues.

As reported by AllHipHop.com, Jay-Z and Roc Nation created a partnership with the NFL that pushed NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to commit the league to spend $100 million over the next ten years on social justice outreach and causes.

Rapper Gunna Denied Bond In RICO Case

College Park rapper Gunna was denied bond on Wednesday, May 11th.

As reported by AllHipHop.com, the chart-topping artist, whose real name is Sergio Kitchens, was arrested on a racketeering charge earlier in the day.

The Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has lumped him in with 27 other alleged gang members, indicting them on a laundry list of charges connected to illegal and illicit activities.

According to Alive 11, county officials have alleged that Gunna is a part of the Young Slime Life gang. He is accused of participating in various activities connected to the criminal organization in violation of Georgia’s RICO law.

In addition to the RICO violation and criminal street gang activity, Gunna is accused of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, hydrocodone, and marijuana and theft by receiving stolen property.

The District Attorney’s Office is using his rap lyrics and music videos to build a case against him.

The D.A. said she would exhaust all resources and leads to clean up the street from gang activity, including bringing down celebrities connected to the life.

“It does not matter what your notoriety is, what your fame is. If you come to Fulton County, Georgia, and you commit crimes, you are going to become a target and a focus of this district attorney’s office,” District Attorney Fani Willis said.

Whether Gunna is a gang member is at the core of this indictment.

Gunna will remain at the Fulton County jail until a Superior Court judge sees him at an undetermined date.

T.I. Questions Why The KKK Hasn’t Been Charged With RICO

One of the biggest stories in Hip Hop this year centers around authorities arresting Jeffery “Young Thug” Williams and Sergio “Gunna” Kitchens for a RICO case. Prosecutors charged the two Atlanta-bred rappers, as well as other YSL affiliates, in Fulton County, Georgia.

Young Thug faces nine criminal counts, including Conspiracy to Violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity. The District Attorney also indicted Thug on drug and firearm charges.

Gunna was charged with one count of Conspiracy to Violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Lawmakers on the federal and state level originally began passing RICO laws in the 1970s as a way to counteract organized crime syndicates such as the mafia.

Over the last several years, prosecutors around the country have charged numerous rappers in RICO cases. Tekashi 6ix9ine, Casanova, and YFN Lucci have all been in court for racketeering/gang conspiracy-related prosecutions.

Atlanta-based emcee Tip “T.I.” Harris is questioning why a specific white supremacist organization is not also under government scrutiny for racketeering. The 41-year-old Grand Hustle Records co-founder took to Instagram to publicize his concerns.

“Why the KKK ain’t been hit [with] a RICO…” posted T.I. on Wednesday, referring to the American hate group also known as the Ku Klux Klan. His caption simply included the “🤔” emoji. The often-hooded KKK has terrorized African-Americans, Jewish-Americans, immigrants, and other groups for over a century and a half.

YSL’s Lil Keed Addresses Young Thug’s RICO Arrest

Jeffery “Young Thug” Williams and Sergio “Gunna” Kitchens are among over two dozen people indicted on RICO charges in Georgia. Prosecutors believe the Young Stoner Life Records representatives are members of the Blood street gang.

“As the District Attorney of Fulton County my number one focus is targeting gangs, and there’s a reason for that, they are committing conservatively 75% to 80% of all of the violent crime that we are seeing within our community and so they have to be rooted out of our community,” said Fulton County DA Fani Willis.

Attorneys for both Yung Thug and Gunna have insisted their respective clients are innocent. Another YSL rapper expressed support for his comrades and crew as well. Lil Keed took to Instagram to share a message about the situation.

“YSL is a family. YSL is a label. YSL is a way of life. YSL is a lifestyle. YSL is not a gang. YSL is not a criminal [organization]. YSL is not a street gang. YSL is not a mob,” posted Lil Keed.

The 24-year-old Atlanta native released several projects, such as 2019’s Long Live Mexico and 2020’s Trapped on Cleveland 3, via the YSL label. Lil Keed earned a Gold plaque for his “Nameless” single.

Authorities charged Young Thug with nine counts, including Conspiracy to Violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act as well as Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity. Gunna is also facing a RICO charge.

Wiley On The Run From U.K Cops After Dodging November Court Appearance

Wiley is being hunted by U.K cops after failing to turn up to a November court hearing to face burglary and assault charges

London’s Met Police posted a wanted appeal on Twitter in an attempt to trace the Godfather of Grime.

https://twitter.com/MPSNewham/status/1524010237719683074?s=20&t=hmX4VTHAC2VHbqJOLeSKtQ

Richard “Wiley” Cowie is accused of breaking into an East London flat in November before smashing plates and attacking ex-kickboxer Ali Jacko.

Wiley was due at Snaresbrook Crown Court on November 11 but failed to appear. He is facing charges of burglary with intent to cause damage and assault by beating.

The Metropolitan Police issued a statement:

“A court warrant has been issued for the arrest of Richard Cowie, 43, of Tower Hamlets, who failed to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on November 11 2021. Cowie had been due to appear having been bailed at an earlier hearing. He is charged with one count of assault and a further count of burglary with intent to cause damage. The charges relate to an incident in Romford Road, Forest Gate on Saturday, 28 August.”

After cops launched the wanted appeal, Wiley began trolling on Twitter as cops attempted to track him down.

British tabloid The Sun reports he posted a series of mocking tweets from the “Wiley Recordings,” account before being suspended. “I’ve got a warrant but I’ve also got a new freestyle,” he wrote in the final tweet. The account was then deactivated. “Let’s get this work.”

Shortly after posting, Wiley dropped “Igloo Freestyle,” featuring a nod to Kendrick Lamar’s recent single. The cover art depicted Wiley as one of the deepfakes the Compton rapper transforms into during the video for “The Heart Part 5.” Check it out below.
