EXCLUSIVE: Lil Yachty Sails To Victory: Rapper Settles Trademark Battle With NFT Company

Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty has reached a settlement with Opulous (d.b.a. Ditto Music) and its founder Lee James Parsons, following allegations of federal trademark infringement.

The lawsuit claimed that the NFT company used the rapper’s name, image, and likeness without permission to promote a new auction.

Lil Yachty, who has owned the trademark to his stage name since 2017, accused the Singapore-based company and Parsons of misleading his fanbase by suggesting he was collaborating with them on music copyright-backed NFTs.

Opulous had previously contacted the rapper in 2021 regarding his involvement, but no agreement was reached.

Despite the lack of a partnership, the NFT auction house went ahead with a campaign featuring Lil Yachty’s name, image, and likeness in a press release and on their website.

The artist, known for his colorful hair and hit-making abilities, initially sought unspecified damages and all profits made using his name and an injunction preventing the company from using his likeness in promotional materials.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop.com, the defendants submitted a Notice of Settlement, informing the court that the case has been resolved.

The parties have requested 45 days to confirm the settlement in writing and file a dismissal of the action.

Details of the settlement have not been disclosed.

Rapper Blueface Signs Contract To Box TikTok Star Ed Matthews In Upcoming Fight

California rapper Blueface has signed his contract with Kingpyn Boxing to fight British TikTok star Ed Matthews in an upcoming tournament opening on April 22.

The fight will happen in London, according to Mirror UK.

This will be the first time that Blueface has stepped in the ring since fought and beat Kane Trujillo on the Bare Knuckle FC card.

AllHipHop.com reported on his debut on July 23, 2021, in Tampa, Fl. Although BKFC 19 was headlined by former UFC fighters Paige VanZant and Rachel Ostovich, Blueface completely stole the show.

After beating down Trujillo and winning by a unanimous decision, the real action came shortly after Blueface was proclaimed the winner.

For some reason, a “fan” jump in the ring and threw a punch at Blueface, causing all hell to break loose. Blueface went nuts as he threw haymakers at the spectator, as a full brawl involving almost a dozen people broke out in the middle of the rain.

It has taken a few years for the stars to align to get him back in the ring.

Blueface took to social media to talk about his upcoming fight with Matthews.

“Finally got a call, man’s got a fight,” he said.

“Some dude from Australia or the UK,” Blueface continued. “I don’t know who the f*** is that guy, they called with the cheque, you know what we going to do, on God.”

The “Thotiana” rapper and Matthews will be on an equal playing field as both have only boxed once in the ring.

Cardi B’s Unfading Tattoo Drama: $5 Million Mixtape Legal War Could Go To Trial Again

In a twist worthy of a hip-hop soap opera, Cardi B’s legal battle over her mixtape cover tattoo drama refuses to fade away.

The lawsuit began in 2017 and centered around the photoshopped image of Brophy’s tiger-and-snake tattoo on a model appearing to give Cardi head as she chugged a beer on the mixtape cover.

Although the “Up” rapper won the lawsuit against Kevin Michael Brophy, who claimed humiliation from unauthorized use of his distinctive back tattoo on her “Gangsta B**ch Music, Vol. 1” mixtape cover, she may not be out the woods yet.

Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, scored a victory verdict after a four-day trial in October 2022.

Brophy, however, believes he didn’t get a fair trial, and his attorney has filed a motion for a new one.

While The Honorable Cormac J. Carney initially refused to overturn the victory, the motion for a new trial remains on the table.

Cardi B Could Face Trial Over Tattoo Again

Judge Carney recently agreed to consider Brophy’s argument for an appeal of the original verdict, extending the ink-related saga even further.

Brophy’s attorney argues that Cardi B “repeatedly engaged in theatrics” and “acted with total disregard and disrespect for the jury’s time and formal nature of court proceedings” during the trial.

“The deliberate nature of [Cardi B’s] strategy to undermine [Brophy’s] ability to present his case was exposed by a switch in demeanor that puts Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to shame,” Brophy’s lawyer told the judge.

“On direct from her own counsel, [Cardi B] provided lucid, direct and fully responsive answers to questions—answers which were allowed to remain unchallenged by virtue of the Court’s erroneous and summary denial of cross-examination.”

Brophy was ordered to pay Cardi B’s legal fees after his courtroom defeat, but it’s clear this tattoo tale is far from over.

The motion for a new trial is set to be heard before Judge Carney on July 17, 2023.

As the drama unfolds, Cardi B and her legal team are expected to respond to Brophy’s motion ahead of the hearing.

Will the ink finally dry on this case, or will it smudge even further? Only time will tell.

FBG Duck UPDATE: Another O-Block Member Indicted For Rapper’s Murder

The Department of Justice has released a statement regarding the 6th person charged with the death of Chicago rapper FBG Duck.

Morris Pasqual, Acting United States Attorney for] the Northern District of Illinois; Robert W. Wheeler, Jr., Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Eric Carter, Interim Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, announced that these charges come two and a half years after the rapper’s murder on Aug. 4, 2020.

As reported by AllHipHop.com, FBG Duck was shot during a drive-by. He made it to the hospital alive but died in the care of medical officials. FBG Duck sustained multiple wounds to his torso and simply did not recover.

The rapper was only 26 years old when he was killed.

The feds have unsealed a superseding indictment against an associate of the O-Block street gang named Ralph Turpin (aka “Tall” and “Teezy”), who is believed to have helped kill the rising rap star, whose real name is Carlton Weekly.

According to the Justice Department, the 33-year-old was charged with one count of committing murder in aid of racketeering and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering.

Turpin joins Charles Liggins, also known as “C Murda,” 30; Kenneth Roberson, also known as “Kenny” and “Kenny Mac,” 28; Tacarlos Offerd, also known as “Los,” 30; Christopher Thomas, also known as “C Thang,” 22; and Marcus Smart, also known as “Muwop,” 22, as defendants in this case.

These five men were a part of the original indictment announced in October 2021.

The murder count in the indictment carries a minimum sentence of life in federal prison and a maximum potential death penalty sentence.

One of the firearm counts is also punishable by a maximum potential death penalty sentence. Another firearm count is punishable by a minimum of 10 years in federal prison, with a maximum of life.

On Monday, April 10, Turpin went before Magistrate Judge Sunil R. Harjani and is scheduled to attend a detention hearing on Wednesday, April 12.

As of now, he remains in federal custody.

Jonathan Majors’ “Origin Story” Gives Insight On Alleged Assault Charges

First of all, Jonathan Majors is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. That said, it is looking like a rough road ahead for the actor, who was on the rise when he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend. That situation played out over a number of days and worsened when his lawyer released texts between the two. Those texts played out like classic abuse cases. The verdict is out on whether or not he did the things he is accused of, which includes strangulation.

In the MCU, he plays a super villain. Every hero and villain has a origin story that makes them what they are. And Majors is no different. RRG decided to compile and narrate a mini-documentary that traces how this amazing rising star may have gotten to this point. They talk about abuse and bullying. At one point, this tale says he punched trees to release anger. If there is any truth to this, I hope he is getting help. If they cancel him, he’s going to need it.

Check it out. They use various sources and previous interviews to authenticate their report.

Rihanna Becomes Twitter’s Most-Followed Woman

While Twitter may be undergoing numerous, possibly unnecessary, changes under the ownership of billionaire investor Elon Musk, fellow billionaire Rihanna is still pulling in substantial followers on the social media platform.

According to Billboard, Rihanna recently surpassed Pop star Katy Perry to become the most-followed woman on Twitter. As of press time, Riri has 108,278,326 followers compared to Perry’s 108,258,344 followers.

Elon Musk tops the list of Twitter users with the most followers. The South African-born CEO of SpaceX and Tesla currently has 134,470,177 followers. Former U.S. President Barack Obama comes in second with 132,924,210 followers.

Rihanna now trails Canadian singer Justin Bieber (113,153,027 followers) for third place. Cristiano Ronaldo (108,252,553 followers), Taylor Swift (92,581,835 followers), and Ariana Grande (85,268,269 followers) also make it into the Top 10.

The growth of Rihanna’s social media presence could be connected to her high-profile, televised performances in 2023. She headlined Apple Music’s Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in February. Her set consisted of chart-topping hits such as “We Found Love,” “Work,” and “Umbrella.”

A month later, Rihanna took the stage at the 95th Academy Awards to perform “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The Barbadian recording artist also scored an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song along with “Lift Me Up” co-writers Tems, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson.

Lola Brooke’s “Don’t Play With It” Reaches No. 1 At Urban Radio

Brookyn-bred rapper Lola Brooke has a certified Billboard hit with her “Don’t Play With It” single. After being released in May 2021, the track has gained significant radio support.

In fact, Lola Brooke’s “Don’t Play With It” made it to No. 1 on urban radio. This feat followed the TikTok-boosted song debuting at No. 69 on the April 8-dated Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The original “Don’t Play With It” features Billy B. An official remix version of the song with Atlanta native Latto and Yung Miami of the City Girls dropped on March 24, 2023.

Since its debut last month, the “Don’t Play With It (Remix)” music video starring Lola Brooke, Latto, and Yung Miami amassed more than 3.6 million views on YouTube. The original’s visuals are closing in on 30 million views.

Lola Brooke announced she signed a major label deal with Arista Records earlier this year. Arista’s CEO/President David Massey said Brooke’s music is “larger-than-life” and her vision is “powerful.”

Since partnering with Arista Records, Brooke secured an endorsement deal with Timberland for the footwear brand’s 50th anniversary of the Original Timberland Boot campaign. She also opened for fellow New Yorker A Boogie wit da Hoodie on the “Me Vs Myself Tour” international trek.

Additionally, this year saw Lola Brooke work with Alabama rhymer Flo Milli and New York rhymer Maiya The Don for the “Conceited” collaboration. Plus, Brooke recently teased a possible new song with Philadelphia rap star Meek Mill.

Benzino Claims He Inspired André 3000’s Iconic 1995 Source Awards Speech

“The South got something to say,” declared André 3000 during his acceptance speech at the 1995 Source Awards in New York City. That statement from one-half of OutKast became the catalyst for southern Hip Hop’s dominance over the next three decades.

OutKast had just won the trophy for New Artist Of The Year (Group) to a chorus of boos from the NYC-heavy crowd inside the Paramount Theater. André 3000’s proclamation about his home region became iconic as OutKast went on to have a legendary career.

The Source magazine’s former co-owner Raymond “Benzino” Scott recently sat down with Ray Daniels for The GOATs and Underdogs Podcast. Part of the discussion centered around André 3000’s Source Awards comments.

“The reason why André 3000 said what he did, I’ma have to tell y’all this story. When they was giving OutKast 4.5 mics, I remember, I didn’t understand it, I didn’t understand the music,” explained Benzino. Andre and Big Boi’s 1994 album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik received a 4.5/5 score from The Source.

Benzino added, “And I was the one who kinda raised some situations up at The Source, I’m gonna admit it. I think it got to OutKast. And I think that’s why André said what he said. I think that was kinda directed toward me.”

OutKast’s André 3000 & Big Boi Found Mainstream Success

Big Boi did seem to take issue with The Source failing to give OutKast’s debut studio LP a perfect score. On the “Skew It on the Bar-B” song, the Atlanta emcee rapped, “I gotta hit The Source, I need my other half a mic because that Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik was a classic, right.”

OutKast did eventually attain the coveted 5-mic rating for 1998’s Aquemini. Their third studio LP was just one of nine albums to earn The Source‘s perfect rating between 1990-1998. Big Boi and André 3000 also found critical and commercial success with 2003’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below double-album.

The Recording Industry Association of America certified Speakerboxxx/The Love Below as 11x-Platinum. The project’s singles “Hey Ya!” and “The Way You Move” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Plus, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below became only the second Hip Hop release to win the Grammy Award for Album Of The Year.

OutKast has taken home a total of six Grammy Awards, including two victories in the Best Rap Album category. Speakerboxxx/The Love Below won Best Rap Album in 2004. Prior to that, 2000’s Stankonia won Best Rap Album at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards.

Freddie Gibbs Reacts To DJ Akademiks Posing With Indicted Former POTUS Donald Trump

There is a long history between Indiana emcee Freddie Gibbs and internet personality DJ Akademiks. The latest round in their feud includes the involvement of Republican politician Donald Trump.

On April 9, DJ Akademiks shared a snapshot of himself posing with Trump at the UFC 287 event in Miami. It appears Ak supports the twice-impeached, currently indicted former President of the United States.

“Might have to take up Uncle Trump on his offer of being his Vice President 2024. Bruh told me, ‘No way you’d be worse than [Vice President Kamala Harris].’ 🤣🤣🤣,” wrote Akademiks as the photograph’s caption.

Social media users had mixed reactions to Akademik’s decision to share his photo with the ex-POTUS. The tweet collected over 21,000 likes, but many commenters took the opportunity to make fun of Ak using memes.

Apparently, Freddie Gibbs was one of the people who was not a fan of the DJ Akademiks/Donald Trump meet-up. The Soul Sold Separately album creator reposted Ak’s picture with his own caption that read, “This room stank.”

Freddie Gibbs and DJ Akademiks have been engaged in a war of words for a while. Back in 2020, Ak claimed Gibbs was an irrelevant rapper. That led to Gibbs suggesting Akademiks had a sexual relationship with controversial rapper 6ix9ine.

At one point, both DJ Akademiks and Freddie Gibbs offered to step into a boxing ring to settle their public differences. Meanwhile, a Manhattan grand jury indicted Donald Trump on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree.

“The People of the State of New York allege that Donald J. Trump repeatedly and fraudulently falsified New York business records to conceal crimes that hid damaging information from the voting public during the 2016 presidential election,” stated Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump pled not guilty to all of the charges.

Jay-Z’s ‘The Blueprint’ Earns Triple Platinum Status 20 Years After Reaching 2X Platinum

Jay-Z has cause to celebrate this week as The Blueprint has just received a new platinum plaque marking its triple platinum status.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently certified Hov’s sixth studio album as 3x platinum. The achievement comes over twenty years after the RIAA last upgraded the certification.

Released in September 2021, The Blueprint debuted at no. 1 and sold 427,000 copies in its first week. It achieved platinum status a little over a month later before reaching double platinum the following year, in May 2002. The latest plaque marks 3 million album-equivalent units for one of Jay-Z’s best offerings and one of the best hip-hop albums of the 2000s.

Jay-Z recently opened up about The Blueprint after Kanye West accused Just Blaze of copying his work on the project.

“He get credit for The Blueprint,” Kanye West said of Just Blaze during his 2021 Drink Champs interview. “I did the first half of The Blueprint and he just copied my half. I mean, look where I’m at today and look where he at today. So that should show you…”

However, weeks later, Jay-Z defended the superproducer during a Twitter Spaces.

“The thing was, the baby was The Blueprint and I think everyone should be prized for what we created,” Jay-Z explained “It’s in, I don’t know what you call that, the Library of Congress or something. It’s something that we all should be proud of and everyone should be prized for their contributions. Everyone had a contribution, I will say, and I don’t think anyone was copying off of anyone. We all had the assignment and created this one body of work.”

Nick Cannon Down To Have Baby No. 13 With Taylor Swift: “That’s The One”

While Nick Cannon isn’t planning on expanding his large family, “I’m happy with the dozen I got,” he could be convinced to have another child if Taylor Swift is down to be the mother.

The Masked Singer host was asked if he’s done having kids during an interview on The Howard Stern Show.

“Every time I answer this question – I can never answer it correctly because I don’t know,” Nick Cannon explained. “I’m happy currently with the dozen that I got.” However, he did admit that he would consider having another child if the right woman came along. “She’d have to be cold. She’d have to be amazing,” Nick added.

When Howard Stern asked if Taylor Swift could be that woman, Nick Cannon offered an emphatic response.

“Absolutely, I’m in — let’s go … That’s the one!” he replied before praising her “amazing” songwriting abilities and suggesting “she kinda like me.” Nick Cannon then proposed that he and Taylor Swift share a similar dating history, making them even more compatible.

“Me and Taylor’s numbers are very similar when we’re talking about being in these streets. So, I think she would relate to me very well,” Cannon added. “You’ve dated a lot of people in the public eye, so have I, so we probably would really understand each other.”

He also confessed, “My Spidey-Sense is tingling,” at the mention of reports that Taylor Swift is single after breaking up with Joe Alwyn.  Check out the clip below.

Nick Cannon recently sat down with AllHipHop.com’s Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur talk about the Black/Jewish Issue, His 12 Babies, His Deep Hip-Hop Roots, Acting Again And More!

Nick Cannon Addresses Vasectomy Rumors

Elsewhere during the Howard Stern interview, Nick confirmed the rumor that he had considered getting a vasectomy.

“I was looking around … [but] that’s a scary thing,” Nick explained “I felt the world was trying to make me get a vasectomy. I don’t operate well under pressure,” he added. “You ever know what it’s like to be walking down the street and just a random stranger is like, ‘Man, you need to go get snipped’? I’m like, ‘I don’t even know you, dude.’”

Krayzie Bone Blames Egos & Selfishness For Decline Of Rap Groups

Krayzie Bone has opened up about the lack of rap groups among the current generation of Hip-Hop acts, saying ego is preventing artists from coming together.

As a founding member of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Krayzie Bone was part of one of the best rap groups of all time. The Cleveland-based group, introduced to the world by Eazy-E in the mid-90s became a household name with their unique sound and melodic flow.

While the rap group dominated the Golden era of Hip-Hop in the ‘80s and ‘90s, artists have gradually become more focused on solo careers. Krayzie Bone believes the shift is due to the egocentrism of this generation of artists. During a recent interview, the Bone Thugs member said modern-era groups won’t last more than one album.

Krayzie Bone Says Rap Groups Can’s Last In Modern Hip-Hop

“I’m gonna keep it 100. To me is selfishness,” Krayzie Bone explained on Power 106’s Brown Bag Mornings show. “Because you can’t have a group like you had back in the day because nobody wants to be that dude in the group everybody wants to be that dude in the group. Everybody want to be that front dude.”

He continued, “And if you do get a group, they’re only gonna last for the first project, and don’t let it be successful. Because the ego is going to kick in and they’re gone’ split. It always happens.”

Check out the interview at the end of the page.

Meanwhile, in other Bone Thugs’ news, Tone Lōc recently addressed Krayzie Bone’s claim that he bailed on signing them before their Eazy-E deal.

“They had came to my house at like two in the morning,” Tone said. “Like, come on cuh. Two in the morning? They came to my house two in the morning from wherever they are, off the plane, talking about whatever they had to say. ‘Man, I don’t know y’all. F### y’all. Get on.’ On the real. It’s late. That song…and I’m glad they blew up and did what they had to do. They found Eazy or Dr. Dre and they went on and did they thing.”

Tekashi 6ix9ine Heading To Africa To Film Music Video On iPhone

Tekashi 6ix9ine is determined to record the video for his new song in Africa, even if it means he must shoot the visuals on an iPhone.

The controversial rapper is on a musical comeback following his brutal gym assault last month. He plans to drop the video for his new track WAPA this Friday, two weeks after his latest offering.

After asking his Instagram followers to choose a country for the shoot earlier this week, 6ix9ine has made a decision. He then shared a video of Ugandan kids’ dancing group Hypers Kids Africa bopping along to WAPA, which may have narrowed down his choice of location.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cqtv944tDdJ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

On Monday evening, he hopped on Instagram to announce he settled on somewhere in Africa, but faces a few obstacles.

“Today is Monday it’s 6:54 p.m. April 10th. I promised you guys a music video this Friday April 14th. Till this time, till this present time right now I have shot nothing. I haven’t recorded not one scene to the music video and that’s due to me having to leave to Africa waiting for VISAs,” explained 6ix9ine. “I’m on the way to Africa to film this music video to hopefully get it out this weekend for you guys.”

However, 6ix9ine was undeterred, despite admitting that he only managed to snag VISAs for himself and one other person. Nonetheless, he hopes to shoot the video without a camera crew, security, or assistants.

6ix9ine Copped A Selfie Stick For The Shoot In Africa

Although he’s traveling with a professional camera, he took a trip to Best Buy, where he purchased a selfie stick. “Just in case this doesn’t work out in Africa, I could use this mobile stabilizer to shoot the whole music video on iPhone,” said 6ix9ine.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cq3658mMoMq/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

The Brooklyn rapper also mentioned that the “Bori” video, his latest single with Cuban singer Lenier, was shot on iPhone. The video racked up 18 million YouTube views in the past ten days since its release.

Meanwhile, 6ix9ine recently opened up about his attack, denying that he staged the beating for clout. “I don’t need to get beat up to sell a record,” he said during an interview earlier this month.

A 4-Hour Doc On “King Von The Hip-Hop Serial Killer” Gets Taken Down

We are still talking bout King Von. Von has been dead for quite some time now, but a documentary put him back on the forefront for a hot second. And then it was gone. “King Von: Rap’s First Serial Killer” had the underground bubbling with volcanic lava. It was hot! It was so hot, it got taken down.

But how and why?

I do not know what happened, but it seems like King Von’s family got involved. A man claiming to be the late rapper’s cousin jumped into the chat and seemingly shut it down. U.K. film maker Trap Lore Ross dropped the doc to much fanfare online. On Twitter, he said he is trying to get it back on the Google-owned platform. “Video got taken down. Hopefully I can get it back soon, working with YouTube now but it’s Easter weekend. Still on Patreon if you’re desperate,” he said. There are two sides.

“Video taken down like I said…any other bloggers wanna defame his character?,” Baylomann, who is purported King Von’s cousin. “When other rapper Rap about crime they RAW OR THE GOAT but when he do it He a serial killer y’all sick.”

So, why is there a big beef?

“King Von: Rap’s First Serial Killer” was a documentary that pinned 10 murders on the O-Block rapper. We know that he was on the streets crazy, but he was never knocked for any of them. He bragged about it in his songs. Some of these allegedly happened in his hometown of Chicago. Ross says Von killed five people in 2012 alone.

Well…he was never arrested for killing anybody so I can understand how the family feels…BUT…

There has been a lot of talk.

King Yella said, “King Von Was The Devil, He Wasn’t Human”

So, this is why people are creating 4-hour documentaries on him. Thoughts?

Fyre Festival II Is On The Way? Yes!

Yooooo…!!!

You aren’t going to believe this. Billy McFarland, the founder of the ill-fated festival Fyre festival is planning another one. So if you remember, he created the festival that ultimately and completely misled hundreds of rich white yuppies. Yes, I just used the word yuppies. He was totally in over his head and did not know what to do.

Basically, this was a festival that Ja Rule was a part of and they went bust! The rich kids were left stranded on a deserted island in the Bahamas with no infrastructure whatsoever. And they were served baloney sandwiches, had little-to-no shelter, and no way home after spending thousands of dollars to get there. Insiders I talked to at the time of the affair said he was told it was a bad idea, but proceeded.

There were at least two documentaries made on it and there was jail time served by the founder and he wants to do it again!

Look at this!

I have looked high, and I have looked low and this is valid! He has even pulled in some of his old cronies into the mix, and they are on board as well.

https://twitter.com/pyrtbilly/status/1631383863111852035

They are trying to be funny with the grilled cheese. LOL…those sandwiches did not even have heat.

Once you look at the comments, it is evident that people are going to do this. What I have found to be interesting is that he does seem resolute in making right that which was once wrong. I found it hilarious the first time around and I would love to see it happen again because it was beyond entertaining seeing all those kids looking for an expensive thrill and getting the Lord of the flies. 😂😂😂

The other members of the first Fyre Fest are one board, even some that did not have food and water!

Here is something even more interesting. It looks like he’s got it out for Ja Rule. He tweeted 50 Cent.

SZA Breaks Billboard Record Set By Mary J. Blige More Than 15 Years Ago

SZA’s “Kill Bill” reached its 16th week at the top of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, breaking a record once held by Mary J. Blige.

The Top Dawg Entertainment singer became the lead female artist with the most weeks at No. 1 in the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart’s history. Mary J. Blige’s “Be Without You” made it to 15 weeks atop the chart in 2006.

SZA’s “Kill Bill” generated 23.4 million U.S. streams in her record-breaking week on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The hit single racked up 6,000 downloads for the week.

“Kill Bill” appeared on SZA’s sophomore album SOS, which dropped in December 2022. The song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2023.

SZA now leads a list featuring some of the most successful women in R&B. Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Deborah Cox and Alicia Keys are just a few of the artists who spent 12 or more weeks at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

LSU Star Flau’jae Johnson On Columbia Exec’s Radar: “She Need To Get At Me”

LSU basketball star Flau’jae Johnson grabbed the attention of a major label executive.

Columbia Records executive vice president Bu Thiam expressed interest in signing the rapper/basketball player in an interview with TMZ. Thiam praised Johnson when asked if she has what it takes to pursue a career in music.

“She hard,” Thiam said. “Tell her, ‘You need to holla at me.’ She need to get at me.”

Johnson previously appeared on The Rap Game reality show and signed a distribution deal with Roc Nation. Her rapping received more attention from the likes of Thiam after she helped the LSU women’s basketball team win its first NCAA national championship.

“I’ve been actually looking into her a little bit,” Thiam said. “I went to her page the other day to kinda see if it was real, to see if she was like playing or if she was serious about it. From what I see, she’s been doing this for a while now. It just so happens she has basketball skills, but she’s a real rapper for real. So, I’ma definitely look into that fa sho.”

Earlier this month, Lil Wayne teased a collaboration with Johnson. She and fellow LSU star Angel Reese remain in school as they seek to defend their title next season.

Did Drake Take A Shot At Kendrick?

This is one that is a straight rumor. I could not tell you anything, but this is what people are talking about. Basically, there is a new song called “All Painted” that is a duet with Lil Uzi Vert. And it is definitely a bop. This song is so new, it is not even coming p in Shazam. But it is on Genius. Check out the lyrics:

“Fake woke ni##as, fake deep
You ain’t know fame before me
Gave yo’ ass a lil’ sneak peek,
yeah
Now you gotta take a back seat”

The chicken coop is saying this is a shot at Kendrick. How? This just as easily been about Kanye West…but, Kanye was out before him. It could be about Meek…but Meek also predated Drizzy. I wonder who he could be talking about on this song?!

Good to hear Drake rapping again. I know the money is in the singing but this is better. BUT…Beef is also profitable! Check out the full song and let me know who you think he’s talking about in the comments.
