Drake And 21 Savage Sued For $4 Million By Vogue Over Fake Promo

While people are distracted by the sassy WWE game version of Drake and 21 Savage singing “Rich Flex” in a wrestling ring, there is something serious brewing in the two superstars’ camp.

They are being sued.

According to TMZ, Vogue magazine has dropped a lawsuit against the Canadian and British rapper, claiming the promotion that features them on a fake cover of their magazine was done without permission.

The owners of the publication are suing, asking for $4 million in damages.

Condé Nast, the parent company to Vogue, and the editor-in-chief Anna Wintour “have not endorsed [“Her Loss“] in any way” and have asked for the rappers to remove the promotion, but they have yet to comply.

On the “God’s Child” artist’s social media, he posted the image and said, “Me and my brother on newsstands tomorrow!! Thanks @voguemagazine and Anna Wintour for the love and support on this historic moment. Her Loss Nov 4th.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CkWsPPwu-qa/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

As one can see, the promo is making it seem as though the magazine has formally endorsed the album, and because of his past relationship with Wintour, many might believe it is true.

Someone close to Drake’s team said they are shocked since others have had similar campaigns, pointing to the fake Howard Stern clip and their phone NPR Tiny Desk concert.

But no formal statement has been made by Champagne Papi, 21 Savage, or their lawyers.

Is Boosie Challenging 21 Savage? Claims His Joint Project Is Better

Drake and 21 Savage are the talk of every Hip-Hop town across America right now. Their joint album Her Loss has the streets in a frenzy and Meg Thee Stallion feeling less friendly With tracks steadily climbing the charts, it’s a win for the culture.

However, Boosie thinks his upcoming joint project with T.I. is “harder than that.” The Louisiana native recently joined Fat Joe for a conversation via Instagram live. During the conversation, Joe seemed like he could barely contain his excitement over the Atlanta-Canada connection.

“That Drake-21 Savage is going…HARD,” exclaimed Joe. To which Boosie nonchalantly responded, “It’s hard but I don’t think it’s harder than our album.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CkoG_L7vyvN/

Fat Joe joyously laughed as he clapped his hands in support of Hip-Hop’s natural competitive spirit. Boosie doubled down on his statement as Joe curiously questions his opinion.

“It’s Rubberband Man and Badazz…this sh*t different.” When you take into account the myriad of street anthems and trap house classics attributed to two of Hip-Hop’s most distinguished gentlemen, we might give a slight edge to Boosie and T.I.

Still, we have yet to hear any serious talk of a title or even a release date. With this in mind, one has to wonder if Boosie is issuing a challenge to 21 Savage.

We’ll have to wait and see but T.I. hopped in the comment section to back his southern brother. “He said wtf he said, Tip posted. A little friendly competition may be exactly what the game needs right now. What are your thoughts?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Reacts To Nets Suspending Kyrie Irving

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has faced widespread backlash after sharing a documentary many critics have deemed to be antisemitic.

Last week, Kyrie Irving offered an apology for promoting Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America on his Twitter page. That mea culpa came after the Nets organization suspended Irving for a minimum of five games without pay.

In addition, the Nets presented a list of requirements Kyrie Irving must complete in order to return to the team. Kyrie Irving has to condemn the film, donate $500,000 to anti-hate causes, and complete sensitivity/anti-Semitism training.

The Nets also want Irving to meet with the Anti-Defamation League organization and other Jewish community leaders. Plus, he has to sit down with Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai to demonstrate an understanding of the situation.

CNN’s Jake Tapper interviewed NBA legend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, about the Kyrie Irving controversy. National Basketball Players Association Vice President Jaylen Brown expressed concerns about the suspension. However, Abdul-Jabbar focused on Irving’s role in bolstering anti-Semitism.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Believes Kyrie Irving Is Being Used By Hate-Mongers

“I think Kyrie has to understand what’s happening. He’s being unwittingly used to promote hatred and anti-Semitism,” stated Abdul-Jabbar. “Even though he doesn’t see himself as being anti-Semitic, by joining forces and making posts like that, he can be used.”

Jake Tapper also asked Kareem Abdul-Jabbar about NFL player DeSean Jackson and Hip Hop artist Kanye “Ye” West’s controversial statements that were also perceived as anti-Semitic. The 6-time NBA champion tied those instances involving Irving, Jackson, and Ye to a greater cultural fight.

“I think the lack of awareness of the harm that they’re doing, both to the Black community and other communities – the LGBT community, the Latinx community, all of these marginalized communities – are all really in one lump,” answered Abdul-Jabbar.

He continued, “If we don’t try to protect everyone, we won’t protect anyone. We have to have that attitude about it and make sure that all marginalized groups receive the same protections as the groups that are used to getting that protection and feeling safe.”

Busta Rhymes Praises Geechi Gotti After Murda Mook Battle: “You One Of Us Now”

Geechi Gotti turned Busta Rhymes from a “fan” into a “believer” following his big stage performance against Harlem legend Murda Mook at Ultimate Rap League’s Homecoming event.

The “Touch It” rapper was in the building at New York’s Irving Plaza on Sunday evening (Nov. 6) alongside a host of other stars who pulled up to enjoy URL’s return to battle rap’s “Mecca,” New York.

Remy Ma, a battle rap league owner in her own right, and her husband Papoose, Ghostface Killah, Fabolous, Maino, Smoke DZA, Don Q, and other industry celebs were also at the event.

Geechi Gotti may not have won his battle against Mook, but he certainly won over Busta Rhymes.

The Hip-Hop legend gave the Compton rapper a warm reception following the electrifying battle. “I’m not shaking your hand,” Busta Rhymes told Geechi Gott before adding, “You gone hug me.”

“I’m proud of you, you hear me. Amazing work tonight. He bust ya s###,” he added, referring to Murda Mook’s victorious performance, “but you did an amazing job. Let me explain something, what I love so much about what you did.”

Busta Rhymes then praised Geechi Gotti, highlighting his confidence and charisma, as well as his lyrical prowess. He continued: ”The way you handled when they started to get a little tough, that was the flyest s### for me. Your s### talk, the way you shook it off.”

A beaming Geechi replied, “Appreciate it G,” before breaking down his strategic approach. “I told my n##### it was supposed to be that way. [Murda Mook] supposed to make it hard on me, feel me. When you come out there, that’s what it is, it’s a fight. You don’t want it easy. I go into a n#### spot, don’t come in here showing me love and all that,” he added.

“Dangerous n#####,” Busta Rhymes stated, prompting Geechi to respond, “You know I understand how much that mean, right?” before the pair embraced once again.

Busta Rhymes then turned to Geechi Gotti’s entourage to issue them a playful warning. “Listen man, not one of you muthafuckas better let anything happen to him! ‘Cause we love him like that now. We got you, you one of us now. I’m a fan, but you made me a believer tonight,” he concluded. Check out the clip below and head over to the URL app where Homecoming battles will be shared.

Eminem’s Mother Shares Loving Tribute To Son After Rock Hall Induction

Eminem may have had a strained relationship with his mother, but Debbie Mathers refused to allow that to stop her from sharing her pride at her accomplished son.

The Detroit native was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend (Nov. 5), alongside other legends, including Sylvia Robinson, Dolly Parton, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie, and Carly Simon.

Although Debbie Mathers was not present at the ceremony, she made a rare appearance to pay tribute to her son in a sweet video. The proud mother sported a purple Shady Records T-shirt as she paid homage to Eminem.

“Marshall, I want to say, I could not let this day go by without congratulating you on your induction into the Hall of Fame,” Debbie began proudly. “I love you very much. I knew you’d get there. It’s been a long ride. I’m very, very proud of you.”

She also had a message for her granddaughter Hailie Jade, congratulating her on the success of her new podcast.

“And also I’m very proud of Hailie Jade, my big girl,” Debbie continued. “I want to tell you Hailie, great job on your podcast and God bless you guys. I love you very much.”

Eminem has referenced his relationship with his estranged mother in numerous songs throughout his career. Debbie filed an $11 million defamation lawsuit against her son in 1999, eventually winning a $25,000 settlement against him.

In his 2013 song “Headlights,” Eminem questioned, “Did I take it too far,” in songs like “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” where he accused his mother of abusing drugs throughout his childhood. “I don’t hate you ‘cause, Ma you’re still beautiful to me,” Em rapped on “Headlights.”

Rihanna Album Update: “Super Bowl Is One Thing. New Music Is Another”

Rihanna knew fans would be anticipating a new album as soon as she announced her upcoming Super Bowl Halftime performance. However, according to RiRi, The Navy will have to wait.

The superstar singer’s last studio album was Anti in 2016. Since then, Rihanna has made major moves, building her Fenty empire and bringing new life into the world. Her son with A$AP Rocky is not yet a year old, and Rhianna didn’t want to return to the stage unless it was significant.

“It was a challenge that I welcomed. If I’m going to leave my baby, I’m going to leave my baby for something special,” Rihanna told Associated Press in an interview.

Her next performance is indeed “something special,” the coveted Super Bowl Halftime show. Despite previously declining the offer, “It was now or never for me,” she said, having it turned down in 2019 in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. “It was a challenge that I welcomed. It was a stage bigger than anything I’ve ever done,” Rihanna added.

Last week, the multi-Grammy Award winner shared her first musical offering in six years, appearing on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. Rihanna has a message for those fans who believed this was a sign that a new album was incoming.

“Super Bowl is one thing. New music is another thing. Do you hear that, fans?” Rihanna said. “The second that I announced this, I said, ‘Oh, my God, they’re going to think my album is coming. I need to get to work.”

The multihyphenate has been enjoying motherhood rather than focussing on her highly anticipated comeback album. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have kept their son shielded from the public, although this could soon change.

“We just didn’t get around to it yet, really. We’ve just been living. But I guess there’s a certain freedom that comes with kind of just like getting it out there,” she said before describing the challenges of raising a child with two high-profile parents. “We have to navigate it extremely, extremely cautious right now.”

Kodak Black & Desiigner Respond To 21 Savage’s Verzuz Claims

Kodak Black and Desiigner took notice of 21 Savage’s comments about the 2016 XXL Freshman class.

During a conversation on Clubhouse, 21 Savage claimed he can beat anyone in the 2016 class in a Verzuz battle. The class featured 21 Savage, Anderson .Paak, Dave East, Denzel Curry, Desiigner, G Herbo, Kodak Black, Lil Dicky, Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty.

“Nobody from that Freshman cover [can] beat me in no Verzuz,” 21 Savage said on Clubhouse.

Kodak Black reacted to 21 Savage’s remarks in an Instagram Live session.

“I admire yo confidence though and s###,” Kodak Black said. “That’s how you should feel. I’ma always put myself first over any n#### any day too. But that’s cap … You know you cap! Nah boy, that s### cap.”

Desiigner also took to social media to share his thoughts on 21 Savage’s boasting.

“Why you talking like that?” Desiigner asked. “You 21. [I] went platinum 20 times. I’m just chilling right now. I ain’t even dropping nothing right now. I quit rap for a minute. Stop playing.”

Desiigner hasn’t dropped a project in years and suggested he’s done with rap following Takeoff’s death. Kodak Black just released his Kutthroat Bill Vol. 1 album on October 28, and last week, 21 Savage teamed up with Drake for a collab album titled Her Loss.

Drake Reschedules Apollo Theater Show Due To Takeoff’s Funeral

Drake postponed his Apollo Theater debut in light of Takeoff’s death.

Takeoff’s funeral will be held in Atlanta on Friday (November 11). Drake was booked to perform at the Apollo on the same day, but he announced a change of plans on Monday (November 7).

“The Apollo show has been moved to allow us to pay respect to our dear friend this weekend,” Drake wrote on Instagram. “We have added a second date for the fans.”

Drake’s first-ever show at the Apollo has been rescheduled for December 6. He will also perform at the legendary theater on December 7.

Last week, Drake paid tribute to the late Takeoff on SiriusXM. The OVO rapper spoke about their bond during an episode of his Table For One radio show.

“I’m sure people know how we started, of course, with ‘Versace,’” Drake said regarding Takeoff. “And from there, we formed a brotherhood. I always talk about the fact that this was one family. My friends in the music industry are not friends, they’re family. So, our deepest condolences. Tragic loss for all of us and a dark cloud over this business that we love so much.”

Xzibit’s Ex-wife Requests Lifetime Spousal Support

Xzibit’s ex-wife wants a lifetime of spousal support. Is she asking for too much? Or is she asking her former lover to honor his promise?

Kista Joiner and Xzibit have called it quits after eight years of marriage. Although she filed for divorce in February of this year, she is suing her ex for breaking his financial commitment.

According to the civil lawsuit, Xzibit agreed to provide for all her needs throughout their relationship. In exchange, Joiner was to be “a confidant, companion, social and business partner, homemaker, housekeeper and consultant” to the rapper. Furthermore, Joiner believes that Xzibit’s financial commitments should continue even if the relationship ends.

Court documents show Joiner feels entitled to an equal share of any assets gained during their relationship. Mr. X to the Z may want to consult the advice of his longtime friend Dr. Dre because his ex-wife has mounted an offense out of the Nicole Young playbook. Nonetheless, this is an ongoing development that we will be monitoring.

Despite the ongoing legal battle, let’s not act as if we forgot about her boyfriend. What are your thoughts? Does she deserve spousal support for life?

Iranian Rapper Toomaj Salehi Allegedly Physically Tortured By Government Over Song

While Americans are questioning if Kanye West has the right to freedom of speech, an Iranian rapper has just been physically tortured by the government for his songs of protest and his activism after a young woman was murdered by the police for not wearing a hijab.

According to India Today, the famous rapper and activist Toomaj Salehi was arrested by Iranian security forces for being an anti-hijab protester.

Sources say the rapper, who has over 700,000 followers on Instagram, was taken to an undisclosed location by troops, detaining him while he tried to cross the country’s western borders.

Family members of the artist have denied that this is true.

They allege the political artist was located in the southwestern provinces of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari when he was arrested.

Salehi is also not being treated well, the family relayed to the press.

The rapper’s uncle Eghbal Eghbali revealed on Instagram that Toomaj is currently a victim of the government’s “cruelest methods of torture.”

He asked the Iranian people and the international community to bring justice to Salehi, fearing his life was in danger and that he could be killed due to his political views.

Toomaj Salehi had frequently spoken out against Iranian officials on his platform, sources say, and standing in support of the national protests over the last few weeks over the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman.

Amini died on September 16th, 2022, in a hospital in Tehran. The Guidance Patrol, aka the “morality police,” arrested Amini for not wearing a hijab in public.

The police claimed she had a heart attack and slipped into a coma. However, witnesses and two of her friends who were with her when she was detained said Amini was severely beaten by officers with The Guidance Patrol.

An independent autopsy concluded Amini died of a cerebral hemorrhage. The news set off the largest protests in the country since 2009. Unfortunately, the Iranian regime has targeted the protesters with extreme violence.

According to human rights watch groups, over 300 people, including over 20 children, have been killed by security forces since the protests started in September.

Kathy Griffin was suspended from Twitter on Sunday for impersonating the site’s new owner Elon Musk.

The comedian was banned from Twitter after she changed her display name to “Elon Musk” and therefore violated the rules surrounding impersonation.

Earlier that evening, the tech billionaire – who officially became the owner of Twitter last month – issued a warning about impersonation.

“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended,” he wrote. “Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning… Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark.”

However, the 62-year-old swiftly evaded the ban by using her late mother Maggie’s Twitter account instead.

“I’m back from the grave to say… #FreeKathy,” she wrote, before clarifying to a user: “Oh by the way this is KG. I’m tweeting from my dead mother’s account. She would not mind. #FreeKathy.”

She added, “My wonderful mother had an account that I ran for her. She passed away, but I always kept the account. Trust me, she would be with me on this. Relax. #FreeKathy.”

Musk later responded to a tweet about Griffin’s suspension by joking, “Actually, she was suspended for impersonating a comedian… But if she really wants her account back, she can have it… For $8.”

Griffin then accused him of stealing a joke with his first tweet and added, “Look, please do a better job running this company. It used to mean something. This is KG btw.”

Last week, Musk introduced Twitter Blue, which costs $8 per month and allows anyone to buy a verified blue checkmark.
