Florida Has Lost It: Mandates Teaching Kids “Blacks Benefitted From Slavery”

Florida’s public schools are making changes to their African American history curriculum, and it’s causing quite a stir. The new standards will teach students that some Black people actually benefited from slavery because they acquired useful skills during that time. The State Board of Education approved these standards, but they have been criticized by the Florida Education Association, a teachers’ union, as a step backward.

The controversy centers around language that suggests slaves developed skills that they could use to their advantage. Additionally, there’s concern about teaching students about acts of violence involving Black people during race massacres. The union believes these standards don’t give students a full and honest picture of history and are doing a disservice to Florida’s students.

The updates to the African American history curriculum were mandated by a 2022 law called the “Stop Wrongs To Our Kids and Employees Act” or “Stop WOKE Act,” championed by Governor Ron DeSantis. “We’re here today because we believe in education, not indoctrination,” DeSantis said last year. He emphasized that Floridians should have the right to work and attend school without being subjected to “oppressive ideologies.” DeSantis also reaffirmed his strong stance against critical race theory, stating, “We are not going to use your tax dollars to teach your kids to hate this country or hate each other.”

“The new standards were defended in the statement as “comprehensive and rigorous instruction on African American History. “We proudly stand behind these African American History Standards,” a statement said. “The intent of this particular benchmark clarification is to show that some slaves developed highly specialized trades from which they benefitted. This is factual and well documented.”

The statement continued, “Some examples include: blacksmiths like Ned Cobb, Henry Blair, Lewis Latimer and John Henry; shoemakers like James Forten, Paul Cuffe and Betty Washington Lewis; fishing and shipping industry workers like Jupiter Hammon, John Chavis, William Whipper and Crispus Attucks; tailors like Elizabeth Keckley, James Thomas and Marietta Carter; and teachers like Betsey Stockton and Booker T. Washington.”

Not everyone agrees with the changes, and some critics have questioned the research done by the workgroup responsible for the standards. Governor DeSantis’ administration also blocked an Advanced Placement course on African American studies, citing concerns about historical accuracy and ideological bias.

The debate continues, with educators, advocates, and officials arguing over how to teach African American history in a way that provides a balanced and accurate understanding of the past.

The question is how does the state do this and simultaneously oppress the brutal, oppressive truths about the nation?

Rising Rapper Superstar Pride Booked On Murder Charge

Riding rapper Superstar Pride has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to TMZ.

The Panola County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi reported that deputies were called to a residence on Wednesday afternoon, where they found a 40-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds.

The ensuing investigation led them to believe that Superstar Pride was the suspect.

Superstar Pride, whose real name is Cadarrius Pride, recently skyrocketed to fame with his hit song “Painting Pictures,” which first went viral on TikTok.

The track’s candid lyrics about his life struggles helped him stand out in the rap industry. The song reached the Top 25 on the Billboard charts and went gold in April, as reported by Billboard.

The 20-year-old rapper, originally from the forests of Panola County, Mississippi, had recently relocated to Los Angeles.

His rapid rise to fame began when a TikTok clip of “Painting Pictures” went viral, amassing 2.3 million views in just four hours. The track’s success led to it reaching No. 1 on Urban Radio for the week ending May 11.

Despite the current charges, Superstar Pride had plans for a debut album titled 777, set to release on July 7. His journey from recording tracks on an Android tablet in his early teens to chart-topping success has been a testament to his determination and talent.

However, the recent murder charge has cast a shadow over his burgeoning career. He was booked at the Panola County Detention Center and is being held without bond.

ASAP Rocky Blames Leakers For Star-Studded Album’s Delays

ASAP Rocky provided an update on his Don’t Be Dumb album. The RCA Records artist promised he’s in “album mode” after dropping a new single.

Leaks forced ASAP Rocky to delay the project. He intended to finish the album in 2022, but leakers disrupted his plans.

“They gotta stop leaking it!” he told Complex. “These dummies got to stop leaking s###. Every time, we have to go back to the drawing board, but right now I think it’s in a place where we tightened it up and we really can’t make or break anything right now … It’s time to start rolling out the project. This is just a single for the project. This is really happening.”

ASAP Rocky hasn’t released a studio album since 2018’s Testing. He dropped a Pharrell-produced single titled “RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n)” on Wednesday (July 19).

Don’t Be Dumb’s production lineup includes Pharrell, Madlib, Metro Boomin, The Alchemist, Hitkidd, Mike Dean and Tyler, The Creator. The album’s release date has not been announced.

ASAP Rocky’s upcoming album will be his first project since he became a father. His girlfriend Rihanna gave birth to their baby boy RZA in 2022. The couple is expecting their second child this year.

Did J. Cole Leak Music From His New Project To BTS?

J. Cole is apparently cool enough with K-Pop phenom boyband BTS that he’s given them a taste of his new music.

Well, not all seven members of the band got a chance to preview what Cole is cooking. At least, that’s what BTS’s choreography leader, J-Hope, says. The babyfaced lyrical assassin notably rocked headlines in March upon recruiting Cole for his “On The Street” single. The earnest collab helped J-Hope earn a No. 1 on Billboard’s Rap Digital Song Sales chart and a spot in Cole’s cabinet of close collaborators.

During a recent interview, the well-manicured musician revealed that Cole sent him a preview of new music that he was working on earlier this year after he proposed a collab project with him.

“Yeah, so he sent me something he worked on right around my birthday,” J-Hope said. “Yeah, so it was a huge gift. I was so, so thankful.”

While the moment had to be sweet for J-Hope, who enlisted in the South Korean military for mandatory service in April, it shouldn’t make me selfish for being jealous that he’s the only person with fresh unreleased Cole right now.

I mean, sure, ever since the pair met in Chicago in 2022 when J-Hope made history as the first K-Pop artist to headline Lollapalooza, they’ve remained in contact. The BTS star also revealed the pair often exchange voice messages of encouragement with each other. Apparently, Cole has even eased J-Hope’s anxiety regarding the English and Korean language barrier they face. Yes, I too constantly question whether Hip Hop fans deserve an icon like J. Cole.

But why couldn’t a hacker have gotten a hold of this information sooner than later? Let’s be real, The Off-Season dropped two years ago, and we’ve pretty much gotten three Drake projects since then, Jermaine! And now, the first thing we hear of new music aside from that tequila-drenched bop “Passport Bros” with Bas is potentially a snippet that’s tied up behind the South Korean border.

To top it all off, BTS as a group will likely be postponed until 2025 as a result of J-Hope and Jin’s enlistment for military service. So in essence, we might not even know what Cole sent this man until at least a year and a half from now. No cap, I’m really type desperate enough to recreate the moves of Army Private 2nd Class Travis King—except this time, I’ll get detained in South Korea so I can link J-Hope and get this Cole snippet leaked and popping on YouTube shorts.

Considering I know y’all are as anxious as I am for Cole’s new project, I did some digging to try to pinpoint when this rumored snippet was shared. According to several sources, J-Hope’s was born on February 18, 1994. So that means he celebrated his 29th birthday pretty much at the top of the year, and it’s now July.

So in essence, there’s some hope that Cole could potentially drop music before the end of the year.

Cardi B Keeps The Pressure On Tasha K; Seeks To Collect Debt From Defamation Lawsuit

Cardi B remains determined to make Tasha K pay for losing a defamation lawsuit.

According to Radar Online, Cardi B sought copies of Tasha K’s financial records as the rap star tries to collect millions of dollars from the vlogger. The Atlantic Records artist hoped to question Tasha K about the gossiper’s sources of income at a hearing on August 9.

Cardi B sued Tasha K for defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress in 2019. A jury sided with the 30-year-old rapper in a trial, awarding roughly $4 million to her in 2022.

Earlier this year, Tasha K lost her appeal in the case. She filed for bankruptcy in May.

Tasha K’s bankruptcy temporarily stopped Cardi B from collecting the debt. But the Grammy winner wants to examine Tasha K’s finances to figure out how the vlogger will pay off the debt.

Cardi B demanded to look at all of Tasha K’s transfers “to any third party, bank account or trust made from March 21, 2019, to present.” Lawyers asked Tasha K to provide copies of income streams from social media, tax returns, credit card statements and more. Attorneys also requested photos of Tasha K’s household goods and jewelry.

Tupac Shakur Murder Investigation: Police Find Bullets, Computers & More In Keefe D Search

Police collected potential evidence in their search of a home linked to Keefe D, the uncle of the prime suspect in Tupac Shakur’s 1996 murder.

Investigators conducted their search of a home in Henderson, Nevada on Monday (July 17). According to the Associated Press, police found several .40-caliber bullets at the residence.

Cops took the bullets, a cellphone, hard drive and multiple computers from the home. They also collected copies of a Vibe magazine featuring 2Pac and Keefe D’s memoir, Compton Street Legend.

2Pac was shot in a drive-by in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. He died at a local hospital six days later.

A gang member named Orlando Anderson was long considered the prime suspect in 2Pac’s murder. Anderson died in an allegedly unrelated shooting in 1998.

Anderson’s uncle Keefe D, whose real name is Duane Davis, claimed to be “one of the only living eyewitnesses to Tupac’s killing” in the 2019 memoir Compton Street Legend.

Keefe D said he was in the vehicle with the shooter. He implicated his nephew but did not explicitly identify the gunman in the 2018 documentary series Death Row Chronicles.

2Pac’s murder has officially remained unsolved for more than 25 years. Nevada has no statute of limitations in homicide cases.

Ice Cube’s Big3 League Ratings Put NBA Summer League On A Poster In Spite Of Investor Spat

Ice Cube’s Big3 league surged in ratings over the NBA’s Summer League action.

The global three-on-three basketball league is known for its fiery performances from former NBA stars such as Nick “Swaggy P” Young and Joe “Iso Joe” Johnson. Additionally, the 2023 season of Big3 action includes the added attraction of a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop.

In essence, the Big3 is the only place right now where you can see artists such as Ja Rule, KRS-One and NLE Choppa perform while Michael Beasley posterizes a casual as if it’s 2008 again. Bro, Cube even suited up and shared the stage with Choppa.

Apparently, that formula has been enough for the Big3 to eclipse the impression of the NBA’s annual Summer League competition. The league’s recent stop in Memphis generated a 46 percent increase in viewers per the massive three-and-a-half-hour broadcast window. And no, NLE Choppa did not perform “S### Me Out” so you can’t try and say Cube hit the Gen-Z, TikTok demo glitch.

Not even the No. 1 overall pick, the Parisian seven-foot stretch-five hybrid forward Victor Wembanyama, getting cooked and put on a poster could draw fan’s eyes from Big3 action. Cube and the Big3 really “messed around and got a triple-double” ratings-wise — and in the midst of the moment, took a second to talk spicy numbers on Twitter.

“Where’s our coverage from the Gatekeep—- I mean, Sports media????????,” Cube wrote in part. “Week 4 @thebig3 viewer stats: BIG3 had 600,000 viewers on CBS.” Cube continued, “Up 75,000 from Week 3. NBA Summer league on ESPN at 3pm did 309,000 and at 5:14pm did 356,000 viewers MLB on FS1 at 4pm did 369,000 viewers.”

For Cube and the Big3 “It Was A Good” after all! And we talking about the OG version, not the Logic one. No disrespect Bobby Valentino but it’s the NWA vet’s time to shine.

With all this new data at hand, Adam Silver might want to consider meeting Cube’s demands of the NBA dropping a bylaw preventing team owners from investing in the Big3. Nah, on the real Silver better tighten up before Cube has LeBron James sneak him into his next LeGM meeting with Jeanie Buss, Rob Pelinka so he can apply that Mt. Westmore pressure.

YNW Melly Trial: Defense Lawyer Drags Snoop Dogg Into Closing Arguments

Attorney Stuart Adelstein invoked Snoop Dogg’s name to defend YNW Melly, who awaits a verdict in a Florida murder trial.

Adelstein tried to downplay his client’s alleged gang ties in the trial’s closing arguments on Thursday (July 20). Adelstein mentioned Snoop Dogg’s use of gang signs while trying to convince jurors to disregard evidence of YNW Melly’s alleged gang affiliation.

“Snoop Dogg, to this day, does hand signs of a gang,” the lawyer told the jury. “And he does that because he realizes it promotes his music. That’s the bottom line! And because [YNW Melly] wants to promote his music, make money, [prosecutors say] he’s all of a sudden this big gang guy.”

Prosecutors accused YNW Melly of killing his friends YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser. The prosecution said the 24-year-old rapper shot the victims after a 2018 studio session.

YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges. He faces the death penalty if convicted.

The murder trial started in June. Jurors began deliberating after closing arguments wrapped up on Thursday afternoon.

YNW Melly’s alleged accomplice YNW Bortlen will be tried separately in October. Prosecutors claimed the two staged a drive-by shooting to cover up the murders of YNW Juvy and Sakchaser.

Rihanna Tells A$AP Rocky To Get Diapers— He Goes Through Hell To Get Them In New Beats Commercial

In a playful new commercial for Beats Studio Pro, rapper A$AP Rocky is sent on a diaper run by none other than his partner, the pop icon Rihanna.

The ad, directed by Rocky himself, is part of a promotional campaign for Beats by Dre’s latest generation of over-the-ear headphones.

The commercial begins with Rihanna instructing Rocky to head to the store for a new pack of diapers for their baby. Obliging, Rocky slips on his Beats Studio Pro headphones and heads out, only to return with the wrong size.

The humorous short is set to the tune of Rocky’s new single ‘Riot,’ produced by Pharrell Williams.

This ad is part of a more extensive campaign celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Beats Studio model, which was first introduced in 2008.

The Beats Studio Pro represents the latest evolution of the best-selling headphones, and the brand has launched several promotional campaigns to mark the occasion.

The couple, who already share one child named RZA, expect another bundle of joy, adding a personal touch to the commercial’s storyline. The ad’s lighthearted nature and the couple’s real-life relationship have made it a hit among fans.

Nas & Jay-Z: Did Nas Change “Magic 2” Release To Avoid Another Coincidence?

Okay, so we all know Nas and Jay-Z have had the craziest rap feud ever in Hip-Hop history that didn’t involve death. It’s the stuff legends are made of, and we just can’t get enough. But here’s the thing: they’ve grown up a bit and matured (kinda). It’s old news, right? Well, not quite. There have been these little things happening over the years that make you go, “Wait, is it really over?” Let me break it down for you.

Every time Nas drops a new album, boom, Jay-Z magically appears with his own stuff. Coincidence? Maybe. But come on, it’s too weird to ignore. Jay-Z’s like, “Oh, you releasing music, Nas? Well, guess what? I got something too!” It’s like they’re playing a never-ending game of one-upmanship. We love it.

And let me tell you, Jay-Z is the master of surprises. One day, out of the blue, he drops a whole library installation at the Brooklyn Library in New York City. Can we just take a moment to appreciate that? It’s called the BOOK OF HOV, people. I mean, seriously, where did that come from? Sure, it probably didn’t come out of absolutely nowhere but damn, it felt like it did.

Now, here’s the “tea.” Dame Dash can call me a Chatty Patty on this one. Rumor has it that Jay’s team caught wind of Nas’s plan to release Magic 2 with Hit-Boy. And guess what? Suddenly, there’s this massive Jay-Z extravaganza happening. Coincidence or a deliberate move? Who knows? But with Hip-Hop celebrating 50 years, it’s Jay-Z’s way of celebrating himself. The Roc is going to make sure you know he’s still on top even though we have not gotten a project in FOREVER.

But let’s not forget about Nas. The QB Don has been working like crazy, putting out more music than ever before. He’s like a rap machine on overdrive. It’s insane. So, did Jay-Z do all this on purpose? History tells us there might be some truth to it, though. Either way, we’re the ones reaping the benefits of their epic rivalry.

By the time you read this, Nas’s next album, Esco, will probably be out. I’m freaking excited to see what these two legends (Hit and Nasir) have cooked up this time. Get ready for some mind-blowing beats and killer rhymes.

Here is the track listing.

Never forget Nas said my name in a song! I thinkhe needs to make a song “Illseed” and lets get it poppin’ – Ayeeeeeeeeee.

New Footage Shows Raid Of House Connected To Tupac Shakur Murder

A video of the Las Vegas police raid home that took place on Monday (July 17) in connection to the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur has been released.

TMZ shared the footage on their platform, showing cop cars and an elaborate SWAT operation gathered outside of the house around 10 p.m. local time.

The police were reportedly executing a search warrant on the house of Paula Clemons, the wife of ex-Crip Keefe D. While the details of the warrant are unknown, it’s suspected it has to do with Keefe D’s alleged involvement in the Death Row icon’s death. He’s claimed numerous times his nephew Orlando Anderson killed the prolific artist. He allegedly knows because he was in the car at the time of the fatal shooting.

Once the authorities were inside of the residence, they found hard drives and pictures of a person possibly connected to the nearly 30-year-old shooting.

Officers could be heard telling people through a megaphone to come out with their hands up. In one exchange, he tells a woman to comply with his demand and drop her cigarette. A man was also told to walk backward and keep his hands in the air. It’s unclear the relationship of these two people to the case.

U.K. Rapper Digga D Declares Drill Is “Finished,” Previews New Dancehall-Infused Song

Digga D is showing off his versatility, previewing a new dancehall track after announcing he’s stepping away from drill music, declaring the subgenre “finished.”

The West London artist rose to prominence in 2017 as part of local collective 1011. Drill was beginning to gain popularity in the U.K., and the group exploded onto the scene with their gritty Next Up? Freestyle. However, after gaining more than 11 million YouTube views, the Metropolitan Police had the video removed from the platform, claiming it was inciting violence.

A year later, in 2018, Digga D was slapped with a criminal behavior order (CBO) restricting his freedom amid a moral panic over drill music. Critics blamed the rapper and his peers for a rise in youth violence.

The CBO dictated where he could go and who he was allowed to associate with and also censored his music. Digga D had to submit any song lyrics intended for release to the cops for approval.

However, despite the harsh constraints and a short stint behind bars for conspiracy to commit violent disorder, Digga went on to debut at No. 1 on the U.K. album chart with Noughty By Nature in 2022, scoring three Top 10 singles along the way, a rare feat for a U.K. drill artist, especially one placed under such scrutiny from the authorities.

Digga D Explains Why Drill Is “Finished”

However Digga D has been stepping away from the subgenre recently and moving in a different direction.

In a mini-documentary released Tuesday (July 18), Digga D said that while it’s difficult for him to admit, “drill has come to an end.” According to the West Londoner, “they let anyone rap,” and drill music has become watered down. “S### music can get released and chart,” he added. “And once that’s happening, it’s all a blur.”

Digga also addressed his upcoming mixtape, Back to Square One, which reportedly includes a track titled “F### Drill.” He claims the project is “not a gimmick” like the other tapes I released,” adding, “This tape ain’t no joke.”

The “Pump 101” hitmaker has stuck to his word, teasing a snippet on a new dancehall-infused track. “Don’t get me in my jamaican bag,” Digga D penned in the caption. “Need a feature on this.” Check it out below and watch the mini-doc at the end of the page.

Dwight Howard’s Alleged Sassy Messages To A Man Leaked In Lawsuit

Remember when Dwight Howard said he wasn’t gay back in 2019? Looks like the rumor mill is spinning faster than a basketball on his finger, and it’s serving up some tea that might just say otherwise.

Seems like another dude got Howard hotter than a courtside seat at a Lakers game!

So, here’s the play-by-play.

A man named Stephen Harper is claiming he and Howard had a little back-and-forth on Instagram in May 2021. It all started with a devil emoji from Howard. According to Harper, the chat quickly turned from friendly to flirty, with Howard allegedly showing interest in some “freaky” stuff and asking for some not-so-PG photos, including nudes and a shot of his manhood.

Howard supposedly reassured Harper he wasn’t gay, just “a lil nasty sometimes.” Well, that’s one way to shoot your shot. Fast forward to July 2021 and Howard invited Harper over to his Georgia mansion, hinting at a possible threesome.

Harper wasn’t down for the team play but decided to visit anyway. That’s when another “player” entered the game, a certain “Kitty.”

Harper alleges Howard wanted him to join a threesome with Kitty. Harper, however, wasn’t about that life. He claims that despite his refusal, Howard and Kitty forced him into non-consensual acts.

Talk about a foul play.

Now, Harper is taking his grievances to court, suing Dwight Howard for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment. As for Howard, he’s previously denied being gay after a transgendered woman claimed he was cheating on her.

Dwight Howard is a father to five kids with multiple women, and he’s yet to respond to these allegations.

Afroman Lawsuit Launched By Deputies Who Raided His House Still Ongoing

Afroman is still facing a lawsuit after using the images of police officers raiding his house on merchandise to promote his music. On August 21, the Grammy-nominated recording artist’s Ohio home was raided by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office while he was traveling for work.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant at the artist’s residence, suspecting drug possession, trafficking and kidnapping activities. It claimed he locked women in his basement area called “the dungeon.”

“I get a phone call that the police are everywhere,” he told AllHipHop‘s Kyle Eustice in May. “Now just think about this. What if I would’ve left at six o’clock that morning when I first woke up? I would’ve been home. They would’ve did it to me, man. What was going through my mind was, I was marveling at what I believe to be the navigation of God. God didn’t deliver me from temptation, but he definitely delivered me from the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.”

Even though Afroman wasn’t present at the time, he was fully aware of the events that transpired. His home surveillance system recorded the precise moments when the police breached his gate and entered the premises with their weapons drawn. The marketing genius used the incident to his advantage.

“Lemon Pound Cake,” “Why You Disconnecting My Video Camera,” “Will You Help Me Repair My Door” and ” I’m A Have A Good Time” are just a few songs on his latest album inspired by the raid.

Afroman pulled images from the surveillance tape and placed them on t-shirts and in music videos, incorporating the raid into his musical repertoire.

The officers, Shawn D. Cooley, Justin Cooley, Michael D. Estep, Shawn Grooms, Brian Newland and Lisa Phillips—who broke down his door and front gate—filed a lawsuit in March claiming he unlawfully used their images for multiple commercial purposes.

A legal expert from ABC stated “The officers do have a reasonable right to privacy we all do but typically that something has to be exposed that is intensely personal and it would offend a reasonable person. Officers acting in their job executing their job functions is typically not going to rise to the level of a violation of privacy.”

The lawsuit goes on to say that the plaintiffs have “suffered humiliation, ridicule, mental distress, embarrassment and loss of reputation.”

Afroman also said he faced humiliation because of the incident, adding that his kids were in the next yard playing and saw the police pull up in a fleet of cars to raid the home. He watched it all in real-time on his phone, thanks to technology that allowed him to patrol the safety of his property through surveillance.

Because he was coming from Chicago, he said he felt powerless.Security video shows the officers came in with long-nosed guns and captured them crossing his green lawn and kicking in his door.

Once he got home, he asked the officers if he was under arrest or charged with any of the crimes on the warrant–he wasn’t.

He doesn’t believe the officers have a case and will fight them. The lawsuit is still pending per the deputies’ lawyers. The attorneys say they will not be fighting the case in the court of public opinion and have no further comment

Morris Day Says He Used To Buss Prince’s A## In Band Battles

Prince and Morris Day are legends! They have no peers! They are so unique and talented. They had a complex relationship at times. They had a rivalry and it was real.

There was definitely some competition between Prince and Morris Day, but it was not a feud or beef. It was mostly a way for them to be better creatively and push themselves. Morris Day recently talked about it and he seems to feel like “Purple Rain” was close to real than fiction. Take a look and let us know.

But, let us be clear. Morris Day and Prince had been childhood friends and even performed together in the band Grand Central before Prince became a solo artist. When Prince formed The Time and chose Morris Day as the frontman, it was a testament to their friendship and mutual respect. Prince saw The Time as a contrasting musical entity to his own sound, showcasing a cool, streetwise funk style.

The Real Reason Gunplay Spazzed Over 50 Cent Song…

Gunplay recently lost his mind. As you know, the rapper is down with Rick Ross, his crew and he’s a loyal one. He recently gave Rick Ross a massive chain as the Teflon Don laid in bed. It was an awkward moment, but it signifies that he’s not leaving his homeboy’s side anytime soon.

By the way, I just want to mention that Gunplay is actually a really good rapper. I like him a lot and I wish he would do more music. Because, right now, we are looking at a viral moment that’a not the best look for him.

ALSO READ: Gunplay Goes Off On DJ For Playing 50 Cent Song At His Party

Now, the question is what song did the DJ play? I know what I believe he played, but I am hearing various other songs, tell us what you hear being said on the street.

So, here is what we are getting.

Gunplay was partying it up at G5, the famous booty bar down in Miami. Now we know this. The DJ gave him a shout-out, but the DJ decided to play “I Smell Pu$$y” by none other than 50 Cent. WHAT!? WHAT!?

So, let’s talk about this DJ. What the hell was wrong with him? Who comes to Miami and purposely plays something that’s gonna rile up a Miami artist like Gunplay? Especially on his damn birthday in his own city. That just ain’t right, y’all. It ain’t right at all. But here’s the catch. Gunplay and his lady are part of Love and Hip Hop Miami. The show thrives on creating conflict and getting reactions out of people. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if this whole thing was filmed or captured somehow for Love and Hip Hop. I think we can bet on that. Drama follows these Love and Hip Hop stars everywhere they go.

On another note, you might remember, Gunplay caught a bad one back in the day. He was jumped outside of an awards show and things got real nasty. 50 Cent and his crew outnumbered Gunplay, and he was laid out when it was all said and done. So, it’s understandable that hearing a 50 Cent record would trigger him.

But let me tell y’all, Gunplay has been through some struggles and battles with addiction, and that can cause reactions like the one we saw. It’s a tough road, but we’re rooting for him to overcome those challenges and come out on top. We need more positivity out here, but hey, when you’re a guy like Gunplay, people will always test you. And that DJ, he had some serious balls to pull a stunt like that. I just hope everyone made it home safe and sound, though.

Alright, y’all, that’s the scoop. Let me know what y’all think about this crazy situation in the comment section below. And don’t forget to like and subscribe for more updates. This is your boy Stacy, signing off. Stay tuned for more gossip!

Lil Wayne Reveals Hov’s Impact On His Early Career: “To Me Jay-Z Was The God Of Words”

Lil Wayne has opened up about his early musical influences, citing Jay-Z as “my Bible,” while crediting Missy Elliot as the reason he spotted the talent in Drake.

In a New York Times feature celebrating five decades of Hip-Hop, the Young Money Entertainment founder reflected on the artists who inspired him at the start of his career. He was one of 50 artists to document the genre’s evolution in their own words ahead of the fiftieth anniversary of Hip-Hop later this year.

Lil Wayne reflected on his beginnings as a pre-teen emerging out of the New Orleans Hip-Hop scene. However, he “fell in love with New York artists,” and “anybody from the East Coast.” While artists like Q-Tip, Busta Rhymes and Onyx, who he believed “woke up in the morning screaming at each other,” thrilled him, he considered Jay-Z a supernatural talent.

“To me, Shawn Carter, Jay-Z, was the god of words,” Lil Wayne explained. “He could’ve rewritten English books. I was introduced to Jay by listening to Biggie.”

The rap legend said he learned Hov’s “Lucky Me,” from his 1997 sophomore album, In My Lifetime, Vol. 1, “backward and forward.” The words became so significant for him that Wayne claimed he still opens “every show” with a section of the lyrics.

Lil Wayne Cites Jay-Z As “My Bible”

At about 16 or 17 years old, Lil Wayne discovered that Jay-Z, who was recently honored with an iconic exhibition at the Brooklyn Public Library, doesn’t write down his lyrics. “I didn’t want to ever see a pen or paper again in my life,” he added. “Jay was my Bible.”

While Jay-Z changed how Weezy pens his music, the Roc Nation boss was not Lil Wayne’s favorite rapper. That distinction went to Missy Elliott, who remains at the top of his list to the present day.

“You know when you’re watching a sport and you’re like, this person is just too cold, too damn good and they can do whatever they want? She was that person to me,” the five-time Grammy Award winner revealed.

In addition, Weezy said his appreciation for Missy’s talents helped him recognize the potential in one of rap’s biggest superstars.

“Before there was Drake and people who were rapping and singing, Missy was doing that,” Lil Wayne stated. “That captivated me, and I was moved by that. It made me want to do it. That’s why I loved Drake when I met Drake. If you’re around me, you know for a fact that if you’ve got a little harmony, a little melody in your voice, I’m about to make you sing.”

Did Gunplay Go Off On DJ For Playing 50 Cent Song At His Party?

Footage of Gunplay is making the rounds online. Allegedly, the South Florida-based rapper/reality television star got upset at a DJ for playing music by his enemy.

Gunplay’s 44th birthday was on July 18. According to reports, the Living Legend rapper and some of his loved ones celebrated the occasion at the G5ive strip club in Florida. But a video of Gunplay apparently screaming at the man behind the DJ booth spread across social media and YouTube.

“Why would you play that?!” Gunplay can be heard yelling right before throwing a trash can in the direction of the DJ. The Triple C’s member then told people in attendance, “Don’t touch me before I shoot this s### up!” He later said, “I’ll kill everything in here!”

Reportedly, the G5 club DJ played a song by 50 Cent during Gunplay’s birthday party. Gunplay and his Triple C’s partner Rick Ross have been feuding with 50 Cent and his G-Unit crew for more than a decade.

Even though the video of Gunplay’s outburst seems to suggest the incident ruined his night, the Love & Hip Hop: Miami star later took to Instagram to shout out his significant other Vonshae Taylor-Morales.

“Thank you @lifewithvonshae & @frankydiamonds for the absolute most memorable birthday I’ve ever had. I definitely wasn’t expecting a custom ruby Rolex,” Gunplay wrote on Instagram.

Additionally, Gunplay posted a photo with longtime friend Rick Ross to his Instagram page on Wednesday. The IG caption read, “Best birthday ever!!! @richforever.”

Meek Mill Raps His Favorite Jay-Z Bar [VIDEO]

Robert “Meek Mill” Williams has been closely aligned with Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter for years. Jay-Z’s Roc Nation agency once managed the Philadelphia native. Plus, both emcees helped found the REFORM Alliance.

Meek Mill recently attended the Shawn Carter Foundation 20th Anniversary Black Tie Gala. HipHopDX caught up with Meek on the event’s red carpet and asked him to name his favorite bar from Jay-Z.

“My favorite Hov bar of all time is every bar,” answered Meek Mill. The 36-year-old rapper then began reciting lyrics from the Timbaland-produced “Is That Yo B####” single featuring Missy Elliott.

Five years ago, Meek Mill recruited Jay-Z to appear on his “What’s Free” track off the Championships album. That well-received collaboration also featured Meek’s longtime musical mentor Rick Ross.

Meek Mill has been making more headlines over the last several months for his public comments than his music. He faced backlash in June for his reaction to YK Osiris forcibly kissing Sukihana on camera.

In addition, many Megan Thee Stallion supporters chastised Meek for saying “Free Tory Lanez” at the Rolling Loud Portugal festival earlier this month. A jury convicted Lanez of assault with a semiautomatic handgun and other charges in connection to a July 2020 shooting that left Megan injured.
