Ruff Ryders, the entertainment company responsible for The Lox, DMX, and Eve, has been ordered to kick out some serious loot after losing a lawsuit that lasted for four years.
A judge has awarded one of the producers who made the company rich a seven-figure judgment, sending a powerful message to the music industry.
The Supreme Court of New York has blessed producer DJ Shok with $3.2 million in damages and interest.
Cassandra Spangler, Esq., DJ Shok’s entertainment lawyer, said, “We are very happy to achieve this victory on behalf of DJ Shok. We hope that this will help to change the longstanding practice of underpaying producers and artists in the music industry.”
Her co-counsel, Thomas Vandenabeele, agreed that this lawsuit should put industry executives on notice.
He said, “Mr. Gomez had the courage to speak out, and we are very pleased that the Court awarded punitive damages. We believe that this may send a strong message across the industry.”
The artist also believes that he is standing up for other creatives who have been done wrong by winning this case.
“My hope is that the precedent set in this case will inspire others to fight for what is rightfully owed to them,” said DJ Shok. “Maybe this will be a catalyst to change the current industry practices by serving as a warning to those who withhold payments due to artists and producers.”

However, the young man did not realize his life was in jeopardy. A Facebook Live video purports the ending of the fight. A shirtless ARoy walks away from his mortal adversary. This proves fatal.
As opposed to accepting defeat, the unknown assailant makes a deadly decision. From his waistband a gun is pulled. Next, several shots ring out. Sadly, ARoy sustains multiple gunshots.
A Los Angeles Police Department detective says Tory Lanez yelled, “Dance, b####!” before shooting Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020.
LAPD Det. Ryan Stogner revealed what Tory Lanez allegedly shouted at a preliminary hearing in the embattled rapper’s felony assault case. According to the detective’s testimony, the 29-year-old artist also tried to buy Megan Thee Stallion’s silence.
“Megan stated the defendant apologized for [shooting her] and offered her money and begged her to please not say anything and made a reference to the fact he was already on probation and he begged her not to say anything,” Stogner testified.
Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is facing two felony charges for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
Last year, he was formally charged with one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in a manner that “personally inflicted great bodily injury” and one count of carrying a concealed, loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
Tory Lanez pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was released on $190,000 bail, which was later increased to $250,000 after he violated a protective order to stay away from Megan Thee Stallion.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith Borjon upheld the assault and weapon possession charges against Tory Lanez at Tuesday’s preliminary hearing. The One Umbrella Records founder will return to court for arraignment on January 13, 2022.

During an interview for i-D Magazine with playwright Jeremy O. Harris, the 41-year-old was asked about accusations of “blackfishing,” a term used for when white people try to appear Black, and cultural appropriation, referring to times where she has worn her hair in cornrows or braids.

On Monday, executives at Primary Wave, a publishing and management company, announced that they had purchased assets from the late singer’s estate.
Though the company bosses did not comment on specifics surrounding the massive deal, a source speaking to Rolling Stone alleged they bought “the entirety of Brown’s publishing, master income stream, and name and likeness rights” that were previously held by the estate.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 79th Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 9, 2022. Hip Hop icon Snoop Dogg and HFPA president Helen Hoehne announced the nominees on Monday.
Fellow rap legend Will Smith (fka The Fresh Prince) picked up a nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his portrayal of Richard Williams in King Richard. The biopic is also up for Best Motion Picture – Drama.
Will Smith is competing in the Best Actor category against Mahershala Ali for Swan Song, Javier Bardem for Being the Ricardos, Benedict Cumberbatch for The Power of the Dog, and Denzel Washington for The Tragedy of Macbeth.
The Best Original Song – Motion Picture nominations include “Be Alive” from King Richard. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter performed the tune. She and Dixson are also credited as songwriters.

The former co-owner of The Source spoke with VladTV. During the conversation, Benzino brought up his outrage over Lil Nas X kissing another man at the BET Awards. The interviewer also asked the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta alum about Boosie supposedly getting “canceled” for his bigoted comments about LNX.
“A lot of it was a lot. Especially from guys like me and Boosie and how we grew up and everything, it’s a lot. It’s different for us and people should respect that,” said Benzino about Lil Nas X expressing his sexuality so publicly.
Benzino added, “Just like we should respect them, they need to respect us. And if we can respect each other then I don’t think we’ll have a problem. What anybody does in their bedroom is up to them.”

Ashanti wants the world to know she is not dating Flo Rida. Photos of the two celebrities together on a yacht had some social media users thinking they were a couple.
Last week, Ashanti made an appearance on The Breakfast Club. The 41-year-old R&B singer discussed the rumors of her being in a relationship with Flo Rida on the radio show.
“Let the people know, Ashanti is not with Flo Rida! Be clear, that’s my brother. Me and Flo are super cool,” explained the former Murder Inc. Records representative.

G Herbo is looking to expand his career in the entertainment industry with a move into acting and hopes “BMF” star Lil Meech can help him!
The Chicago rapper spoke of his dreams to step into television, naming one show he would particularly like to appear in – 50 Cent’s#### show, “BMF.” To get him a step closer to his goal, G Herbo reached out to Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory, Jr., to have a word in Fiddy’s ear.

Meanwhile, Herbo recently spoke to actress Taraji P. Henson about his PTSD diagnosis and how he is using his platform to encourage others to seek mental health services.
G Herbo shared that starting therapy about two years ago helped him with overcoming trauma in all areas of his life. He also explained how a bout of depression left him struggling with a post-traumatic “mental slump.”
“When you hear PTSD or say it, you just think about soldiers,” Herbo said. However, he admitted, “Yeah, I went into depression, and it had a lot to do with music.”
He revealed that he isolated himself for a year after being “so caught up in the streets.” After taking some time to figure it out he says, “I just knew I didn’t want to live like that no more. Just take a leap of faith and say, ‘I’m doing something different. I’m changing my life around.’”

In recent months, Kanye West has made some very public attempts to reconcile with his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian. Unfortunately for Kanye, Kim has filed new legal documents which claim their marriage is over for good. According to People, Kim claims the marriage “has irremediably broken down” in the most recent filings submitted last Friday (Dec. 11). She is asking the court to separate the property and child custody issues and restore her marital status to single.
Kim Kardashian says she has been eager to move on with the divorce since filing back in February this year. Though she and her attorneys have made attempts to progress the case “to a speedy and amicable resolution. [West] has been non-responsive.”
Furthermore, “There are simply no compelling reasons not to grant a motion to bifurcate and terminate marital status in this case.”
Kim Kardashian Says She And Kanye “Deserve The Opportunity To Build New Lives”
Kardashian continues, “There is no question that the marriage of the parties is no longer viable. [Kardashian] has no desire to reconcile with [West] and wants their marriage terminated. Irreconcilable differences have led to the irremediable breakdown of the marriage, and there is no possibility of saving the marriage through counseling or other means. The continued maintenance of technical marital status between [West] and [Kardashian] serves no useful purpose, and there is no reason to maintain the legal relationship.”
She adds, “[West] and I both deserve the opportunity to build new lives. Therefore, I am asking that my request to bifurcate and terminate our marital status be granted.”
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian married in May 2014 and have four children together. Kim is currently dating comedian Pete Davidson while Kanye West has been linked to 22-year-old model Vinetria.
Kanye Asks Kim To “Run Back” To Him
During his recent concert with Drake, Kanye made an impassioned plea to Kim, altering the lyrics of “Runaway,” begging Kim to “run back” to him.
“I need you to run right back to me,” Kanye West rapped. “More specifically, Kimberly.”

He shared a video of him playing at the piano to his Instagram Stories too, where one fan commented that they were “inspired” by his talent.
