EXCLUSIVE: will.i.am On How AI-Powered Radio Will Help Hip-Hop Evolve

will.i.am unveiled the marvels of his AI-powered platform, RAiDiO.FYI, at Invest Fest in Atlanta over the weekend and promptly showed love to numerous cultural titans such as Sway Calloway, KRS-One and Kendrick Lamar while detailing how he envisions the software will revolutionize Hip-Hop and radio using AI.

In addition to breaking the news that Earn Your Leisure’s Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings will partner on a station via the platform, will.i.am introduced the groundbreaking use of the AI software integrated within RAiDiO.FYI.

The platform, which the multitalented Black Eyed Peas frontman promises will transform the traditional radio experience, blends cutting-edge technology with Hip-Hop culture, creating a unique intersection between music, AI and cultural preservation. During the presentation, will.i.am expressed his deep admiration for the “dopeness” of traditional radio as he detailed how his mission to extend its value through RAiDiO.FYI.

“OG Radio is still dope,” will.i.am said. “What’s up Sway? What’s up Big Boy? What’s up Ryan Seacrest? I love radio. This is not to replace it. This is not to disrupt it. This is to amplify it. Celebrate it. What up iHeart? What up Global Radio out of the UK? Capital fm. I love NRJ in France. I mean I love radio.”

A post shared by FYI – Focus Your Ideas (@fyi.ai)

will.i.am explained that the inspiration for RAiDiO.FYI came from his own experience hosting a show on SiriusXM with an AI co-host, creating a dynamic and interactive listening experience. He says his interactions with the AI sparked the idea of a platform that allows everyone to essentially do the same and build their own radio stations from scratch.

“It also can display and present in the form of radio that we know,” he said. “We simulated that handoff and then we put our ais at the core of it to be able to go get information.”

To illustrate RAiDiO.FYI’s capabilities, will.i.am simulated an example of how the AI interacts with music by referencing one of Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. album-era hits.

“It also can display and present in the form of radio that we know.” he said. “What happens on radio People are talking over some type of music bed and then they throw to a song—’Yo, what’s up? It’s will.i.am right here with AllHipHop….We’re here at invest Fest in Atlanta…Here’s some of the key points,’ And I’ll tell you the key points. Be like, ‘Yo, speaking of key points, here’s Kendrick Lamar with be ‘Humble’ and then boom, go tagline.”

But will.i.am’s vision for RAiDiO.FYI extends beyond just revolutionizing radio. In totality, he says the goal of this type of software is meant to shape the future of Hip-Hop by ensuring the genre’s cultural and educational influence continues to thrive. While summarizing the importance of harnessing both emerging technology and the inherent integrity of the genre, will.i.am broke down how platforms such as Okayplayer, which he described as the ancestor of modern social media platforms, helped drive the love fans had for Hip-Hop.

“Before there was a Facebook, there was Okayplayer.com,” he said. “In the ’90s, when people were trying to figure out the internet, it was Okayplayer.com. It was before its time. It was social media before social media. And people don’t realize that nowadays how important Okayplayer.com was for Hip-Hop, Soulaquarians, neo-soul, conscious rap, backpack rap—whatever you want to call it—it was a movement.”

will.i.am went on to stress that Hip-Hop still has the power to educate, uplift and inspire, much like it did in its early days when artists and their movements promoted unity and social consciousness. In doing so, he championed the likes of artists such as JAY-Z and KRS-One for their early work laying foundations he feels as though future generations can uncover and build on as time and technology progresses.

“And I think that movement was a threat because shortly after that, Hip-Hop became prison commercials and another industry was fueled,” he said. “Privately owned prisons were fueled by the things that we were celebrating and maybe we were celebrating the wrong things.

“We forgot about songs like ‘Self-Destruction’ [The Stop the Violence Movement] or ‘We’re All In The Same Gang,’ [West Coast All Stars] Togetherness, unity, each one teach one, lifting each other up like Hip-Hop’s everything. Hip-Hop is like fresh soil to plant rich tomorrows for us. Hip-Hop is like the blueprint—not just JAY-Z’s Blueprint, but KRS One’s blueprint. Hip-Hop is ‘Manifest Guru’ [Gang Starr]. These are the words that I manifest and we’ve got to start manifesting these potentials of what we want to be as a collective.”

will.i.am concluded by issuing a call-to-action for both Hip-Hop fans and tech aficionados alike.

“2034 is right around the corner,” he said. “How do we want to rock? I know how these tech companies is investing and taking, pivoting and doing things that will change how we used to do things. And a lot of jobs are going to be rendered obsolete in this next 10 years, next 20 years. So what are we doing? Are we just going to be the recipients of a blow? Are we going to be the designers that design tomorrow, too?”

Irv Gotti Suffered Stroke, Walks With Cane Wack 100 Claims—Rep Denies Rehab Rumors

Irv Gotti is reportedly walking with a cane after suffering a stroke caused by complications from diabetes. A rep for the Murder Inc. Records co-founder clarified the situation amid rumors Irv Gotti was recovering in a rehabilitation center.

“Irv has been struggling with diabetes for years, which caused him to have a minor stroke over six months ago,” the rep explained to TMZ. “He has since changed his diet to eating more healthy. He’s been successful in making a full recovery. Irv is not in a rehab facility. He is at home with his family, enjoying life.”

Wack 100 Leaks Photo Of Irv Gotti With Cane

Earlier this week, Wack 100 posted a photo of Irv Gotti walking with a cane. The music manager discussed Gotti’s condition during a talk on Club House. Although he suggested Gotti’s team had been keeping it “under wraps,” he was ready to let the cat out of the bag.

“Irv Gotti had a stroke,” he said, adding that the photo was taken outside of a stroke recovery center. He claimed Gotti had “lost a lot weight” and urged listeners to “pray for Irv Gotti.”

Wack 100 took to social media with an image that he claimed was sent to him by a worker at a rehabilitation center.

Meanwhile, Irv Gotti is also facing serious allegations after a woman filed a lawsuit accusing him of abuse and sexual assault. In July, an unidentified woman who claimed she dated Gotti for two years filed a lawsuit. She accused him of sexual assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

However, Gotti denied the allegations and his rep branded the suit a shakedown. “Mr. Gotti rejected the attempt by this individual to coerce a payment of money from him,” the rep asserted. “The lawsuit contains a single page of ‘facts’ which are unsworn to, sparse by any measure, and which Mr. Gotti categorically denies.”

Juicy J Reveals He Profits From 90 Percent Of New Music Thanks To Sampling

Juicy J claims his Three 6 Mafia hits are still raking in the cash as the vast majority of rappers today use their samples.

The Southern rap legend recently sat down with Wiz Khalifa for an interview with Spring Hill. According to Juicy J, he gets daily sample requests from new rappers and claims he profits from a staggering 90 percent of rap songs.

The revelation came after a discussion about the new wave of rappers’ comfort with embracing their individual identities and being inspired by artists like Juicy J.

Khalifa asked if Juicy J pays attention to this generation of rappers.

“I feel like the new trends is the old trends,” he explained. “Like Three 6 Mafia because everybody’s sampling Three 6 Mafia, so I’m already in. Because we started the trends.”

Juicy J continued, telling Wiz he gets five of six sample requests every single day. “On some real s###,” he added. “I get paid off of pretty much every song. Like 90 percent of the songs that’s out right now.”

Juicy J is grateful younger artists want to sample his work, saying, “It’s a blessing,” and always approves the requests. “I love when people sample,” he shared. I don’t really have to adapt to the trends cuz all the music sounds like and the flows from the old 36 mafia days, which I love, so I just keep doing what I’ve been doing.”

Although Juicy J insisted he doesn’t need to adapt, he’s not afraid of venturing into different sounds. Earlier this week, he surprised fans with a jazz rap album titled Ravenite Social Club. The album’s lead single, “To You,” sees the Three 6 Mafia co-founder mourn the deaths of fellow members Gangsta Boo, Koopsta Knicca and Lord Infamous.

Wendy Williams Looks Healthy In First Sighting In Over A Year At Holistic Store

Wendy Williams has kept a low profile over the last year but was recently spotted stocking up on wellness products during a visit to a holistic store.

Earlier this month, the daytime TV queen and her son Kevin Hunter Jr. shopped at the Bolingo Balance shop, run by the late Dr. Sebi’s son Victor Bowman. Bowman shared a photo of himself alongside a smiling Wendy Williams on his Facebook page.

Facebook/Victor Bowman

In an interview with Page Six, a store employee revealed Williams was “sharp, upbeat and aware” and “very bubbly” during the visit. The famed TV host reportedly told Bowman she was unfamiliar with the health products, but Bowman gifted her several to try.

“She talked about circulation improvement but didn’t want to get into too much detail on their first meeting and plans to come back in the near future,” they shared.

Additionally, the store manager told The U.S. Sun that Williams was “very alert” during her visit. They claimed Williams revealed she was “dealing with brain fog,’ and in search of “more mental clarity.”

Wendy Williams has ensured multiple health issues that have kept her out of the public eye in recent years. In February, Williams revealed she was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. In a statement, she thanked her fans for their “overwhelming support,” adding, “I continue to need personal space and peace to thrive.”

The 60-year-old presenter previously revealed that she was battling Graves’ disease and lymphedema and detailed her struggles in a controversial Lifetime documentary

Williams was placed under court-ordered guardianship in 2022, and her family claims they’re being denied contact.

Ari Lennox Reveals Financial Woes, Vows To Do “Strange Things” To Pay IRS Bill

Ari Lennox revealed she’s got a big outstanding tax bill but will do whatever it takes to pay off her debt to the IRS.

During a recent Instagram Live session, the R&B songstress let fans in on her money worries. “I’m just gonna tell y’all my business,” she began. “I need to pay this IRS.”

After laughing, Lennox added, “The strange things I’m finna do for change, just so I can just break even. I’m gonna crazy and then we start anew.”

Hopefully, for her fans, this means more music and touring from the “Pressure” hitmaker. Once she settles her IRS debt, Ari Lennox plans to get in the red and begin saving. “And then we retire,” she added. “That is the muthafuckin goal.”

When a fan asked whether she would release an IRS “diss album,” Ari Lennox wanted no parts.

“Absolutely not,” she replied. “They have been gentle with me and didn’t take anything of mine. So, I will not be starting a beef with them, we do not have no beef, I am paying them back. Okay? I am paying them and I’m finna be caught up.”

Ari Lennox would do well to clear her tax bill before facing stiff punishment like other artists received for failing to pay the IRS.

Back in 2011, Ja Rule admitted that he did not pay his taxes for five years. He owed over $1 million and was sentenced to 28 months in prison for failing to file tax returns.

A judge hit the late DMX with a one-year sentence after he pleaded guilty to dodging a $1.7 tax bill in 2018. Meanwhile, in 2012, Lauryn Hill pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges in 2012 and served three months in prison.

Meek Mill Fans Fiercely Defend Rapper From Critic Who Says He Has No Hits

Meek Mill might often catch heat online for his “Twitter fingers,” but his fans refuse to tolerate any slander on his hit-making abilities.

On Tuesday (August 27), a clip from The Need To Know podcast caused a stir among Meek Mill fans. In the episode, podcaster Mandii B downplayed Meek Mill’s back catalog and insisted he doesn’t have a hit song outside his iconic “Dreams and Nightmares (intro).”

“I don’t know anybody who could name five Meek records,” she said before one of the hosts easily proved her wrong. She also screwed up her face at the suggestion the Philly rapper is a “legend.”

When another host suggested there is a “Weird recency bias for meek Mill,” Mandii B said the “problem” is that Hov said Meek “was the next JAY-Z.”

Loyal Meek Mill fans flooded the replies, fiercely defending his back catalog and calling out Mandii B for bashing him. Many also questioned the mysterious JAY-Z co-sign, which doesn’t appear to exist.

“whoever can’t name 5 meek mill songs is lying like a mf. is this clickbait ??” one user asked. “And when the hell did jay z ever say this? please show the receipts. he never said nobody was the next him, ever lmao.”

Another person insisted, “Meek Mill only has half a brain but you can’t discredit the discography. Who is this bird?”

“N#### Meek head might be filled with Mario Coins,” another fan said. “But the boy literally got classics under his belt and might’ve easily been the best rapper to come out the east coast in the 2010’s this typa disrespect can’t be tolerated dawg.”

Ice-T Slams “Law & Order: SVU” Critics: “What The F Is Woke?”

Ice-T swiftly dismissed criticisms that Law & Order: SVU has become “woke” after getting called out by social media users.

On Tuesday (August 27) the rapper-turned-actor deflected complaints about the show tackling social and moral issues. An X (Twitter) user responded to his post from August 1, revealing he was returning to work on Season 26 of the award-winning show.

“Did they write SVU back to normal yet?” they asked. “It started to go woke.”

However, Ice-T shot down the criticism, questioning, “What the F is Woke?” Furthermore, he added, “lol Like I give a F###.”

While Ice-T was unbothered by the criticism, other users were and hit back.

“Writing about current day issues is not woke. It just doesn’t fit what you want you think it should be. Good try though,” one person replied.

“every person that says “woke” as a pejorative, I just auto assume your frontal lobe got issues,” said another.

While a third encouraged, ”Please look up the origin of “woke”? You racist white people have no clue what you’re talking about.”

A different user attempted to share their definition of “woke,” but Ice-T remained unmoved.

“Woke means tearing down my John Wayne statues,” they replied. “And forcing me to e#### a Spider-Man fountain that sprays gay beer on my lawn that turns it into astroturf.”

Ice-T responded, “That sounds Dope… F John Wayne.”

In a follow-up post, the gangsta rap pioneer admitted he steers clear of politics. “I stay outta Political s###.,” he added. “Like I said before… The Blue Vs The Red… It’s GangBangin to me.”

Megan Thee Stallion & NBA Star Torrey Craig Confirm Romance In “Couple’s Challenge” Video

Megan Thee Stallion appears to be in love with the new man in her life judging from the loved-up video she shared of her in bed with Chicago Bulls Player Torrey Craig.

On Tuesday evening (August 27), the “HISS” hitmaker posted a video on TikTok debuting her new boo. However, it appears she may have posted the clip accidentally, as the video was swiftly deleted.

Nonetheless, the cat is out of the bag as fans saved the video and posted it online. The clip shows Megan Thee Stallion lying in bed with a topless Torrey Craig playing the “most likely challenge, couple’s edition.”

According to the video, Megan is most likely to get arrested and the better kisser. They also both agreed that she starts most arguments, and is the more stylish of the couple, while Craig is the most spoiled and the funniest.

It’s unclear when the pair began dating but it seems they have already confessed their love for each other, they just couldn’t agree on who said it first.

Megan the Stallion was last linked to Belgian soccer player Romelu Lukaku after they were spotted together in 2023 following her breakup with Pardison Fontaine.

The pair had a messy split with Pardi talking about her in interviews and both parties spilling tea in their music.

Infamously, she was previously linked to Tory Lanez who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Kodak Black Reignites Years-Long Monica Dating Rumors

Kodak Black has fans thinking he may be dating one of the most successful R&B artists of all time following his recent social media post.

The “Super Gremlin” rapper recently shared an Instagram story featuring a series of photos with “The Boy Is Mine” singer Monica. Based on Yak’s fit, it appears as though the flicks were snapped while they were backstage at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena for the opening night of Sexyy Red’s tour.

In the pair of photos circulating on social media, Kodak and Monica are all smiles and appear to be fully locked in with each other as they stroll through the cavernous arena. As if the pictures of the pair weren’t enough, Kodak went on to further tease their relationship in the caption he added to one of the posts.

”@monicadenise I LOVE THE WAY SHE CARES FOR ME,” Kodak wrote in the caption stamped with a heart-eyes smiley face emoji.

The newly shared photos have arrived nearly two years after Kodak and Monica were first linked together back in October 2022. It was then that Monica first teased she was involved with Kodak after revealing she had gone on a birthday date with the Florida rapper.

”On a date kinda nervous,” she wrote in an Instagram Story post before following up with another post featuring Kodak.

In a follow-up tweet, Monica appeared to deny their relationship was anything but platonic by highlighting their major age difference.

”Bill & Shimmy My Heart,” she wrote. “They know they can trust me with whatever & never have to doubt me!! Not every relationship is about messing or dating! I hang with their moms because I’m their age! LOL. I’m gonna FOREVER love and support and encourage them. They don’t play about me.”

Rich The Kid Shared Bed With Takeoff & Argued With Quavo Prior To Migos Quality Control Deal

Rich The Kid has opened up about what life was like living with arguably one of the greatest modern rap groups before the Migos got their big break.

In a recent podcast interview, Rich The Kid remarked about his early days bunking with the Migos and late rapper Takeoff, sharing endearing stories of the type of comradery they shared before becoming mainstream rappers. While strolling down memory lane, the “Carnival” rapper recalled the chaotic moments leading up to the Migos inking their groundbreaking deal with Quality Control Music.

“We was all in the basement,” Rich The Kid began. “They [Migos] were like, ‘oh, we about to go meet P. We about to go sign’. And I was like, ‘I’m coming too.”

But as things tend to quickly escalate between brothers and tight-knit friends, a spat erupted between Quavo and Rich The Kid after the Migos frontman appeared to to have other plans for lil bro.

“Me and Qua [Quavo], we started fighting,” he admitted. “I’m like, ‘I’m going. I’m going’. We were fighting in the driveway and they left, and now I’m just p##### off.”

As the Migos trio headed off to seal their fate, the group’s matriarch, who inspired their world-famous adlib, consoled a fuming Rich The Kid.

“Mama was like, ‘Don’t worry, Rich, it’s okay,'” he said. “It’s going to be all right.'”

Though upset, he kept his head up and returned to the studio to work on his craft. It was at this point that Rich The Kid said his determination to make it intensified, especially after he saw how instantaneously the Migo gang’s aura shifted upon finalizing their deal.

“I left, went to the studio the same night, they came back with jewelry,” he said. “They had chains, money and s##t. I’m going to bed like this [crosses arms].”

Rich The Kid then painted a touching picture of how close his bond with Takeoff was, revealing that they would often sleep in the same bed out of sheer necessity before fame hit.

“I remember like, me and Take [Takeoff] used to sleep on the bed,” he said. “He sleep this way, I used to sleep this way. He came home, got chains, ‘Check me out.'”

Despite his obvious frustration with the situation, he still remembers how happy he was to see the Migos realize their dreams. But truth be told, the same sort of payoff was merely around the corner for Rich The Kid, who continued grinding in the studio until he received a call that would change everything.

“I was doing a song with OJ The Juice Man, and then I got a call,” he said. It was P [Pierre ‘P’ Thomas], He was like, ‘Bro, I want to sign you.'”

Though the offer was tempting, Rich knew his worth and didn’t hesitate to make demands.

“I was like, all right, bet,” he said.” “I need two things. If I’m going to sign with y’all, I need a bag of money right now. I got my engineer right here. You got to come with me.”

The gamble paid eventually off in a big way for him. After signing with Quality Control, Rich The Kid’s career skyrocketed upon the release of his breakout hit, “Plug Walk” which peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2018 and went triple platinum. Additionally, his debut studio album, The World Is Yours, also made waves, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and earning an RIAA (Recording Industry Of America) platinum certification. Rich The Kid went on to release several hits with QC, such as “New Freezer” featuring Kendrick Lamar, which went double platinum.

Nicki Minaj’s Husband’s Sexual Assault Interrogation Video Leaked

Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty faced renewed scrutiny after footage from his 1994 rape case surfaced online. Queens County’s Assistant District Attorney questioned Petty in a taped interrogation on the day his accuser Jennifer Hough said he sexually assaulted her.

Petty pleaded guilty to one count of attempted rape in 1995. Years later, Petty said Hough was a “willing participant” in their 1994 sexual encounter.

Interrogation footage showed Petty lying about the incident. Petty, who was 16 years old, claimed the last time he had sex with Hough was in 1993.

“A year ago, this happened again, like this,” he told the ADA. “I had … I had sex with her, put it like that. And something went down like last year. She was like, she just didn’t wanna mess with me no more. And I musta said something wrong out of my face today that made her upset enough for her to call a rape on me. Because I did not touch that girl, man.”

Petty struggled to remember Hough’s last name and acted confused when the ADA mentioned it. The moment stood out since he had known Hough since pre-school and admitted they briefly dated.

Minaj’s husband denied taking Hough to the house where the sexual assault allegedly took place. He also attempted to explain why he lied to the police about his age.

“’Cause I didn’t know what was going on, ma’am,” he said. “I didn’t know what was going on. Why should I tell him everything when I don’t even know what’s going on. I’m trying to ask him a question and he’s like, ‘How old are you?’ I was like, ’I’m 14’ … I did lie.”

Petty described Hough as a “nice girl” who “does her homework.” His father was in the room with him throughout the interrogation.

Hough sued Petty and Minaj for harassment in 2021. Hough said the couple targeted her for refusing to recant her rape allegations.

Young Thug Trial: Lil Woody Attempts To Make Rapper’s Lawyer Say N-Word

Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel did his best to avoid using the n-word while referencing a quote in the YSL RICO trial on Tuesday (August 27). Steel tiptoed around the word while questioning Kenneth “Woody” Copeland during a funny interaction in court.

“He said, ‘Listen, the N would give me money,” Steel read aloud.

Woody responded, “What is N?”

Steel attempted to clarify.

“N-I-G,” he said before a dramatic pause. “G.”

Woody replied, “Oh! N####.”

The lighthearted moment provided a bit of humor in what’s been a contentious and slow-moving trial. Woody has been at the center of controversy as defense lawyers believed prosecutors and the trial’s original judge coerced him into testifying in June. Woody returned to the witness stand in August after the trial was derailed for weeks, requiring a new judge to take over the case.

Woody claimed he lied about Young Thug committing crimes in past interrogations. He desperately sought a respite from questioning on Tuesday.

“I’m tired of keeping reliving this stuff,” he said. “I’m tired of it! I’m tired of it, man! I’m sitting right here. I got cramps, I got knots in my stomach, man. I haven’t eaten nothing. I tried to eat yesterday. I haven’t ate. I haven’t ate today. Y’all see me up here. I ask for a break. I ask—I’m in pain right now. I understand it might be my fault. I’m telling y’all: I made it up. I lied. Damn, man.”

Young Thug, Gunna and others were indicted on RICO charges in 2022. Young Thug has remained in jail since his arrest. Gunna accepted a plea deal and was released from custody in 2022.

The YSL RICO trial began in 2023. It is already the longest trial in Georgia history. If convicted, Young Thug faces up to 20 years in prison. He maintains his innocence.

Mike Jones Crowns Lil Wayne Over Future In Blazing “Feature Run” Social Media Debate

Mike Jones has come to the defense of Lil Wayne after he and Future have been pitted against each other in the latest social media hot take debate.

In case you missed it, a single tweet from a user sparked a battle on Twitter over who had the better feature run between Future and Lil Wayne. The debate has since spilled over onto other social media apps such as Instagram, as users duke it out in series of keyboard warrior contests aimed at settling discourse in one way or the other.

It all started when notable battle rap correspondent Rosenberg Raw dropped the hottake on Twitter (X), declaring Future’s 2010s era feature run was better than Weezy’s mid to late 2000s stampede. To be specific, the years Wayne’s feature run is being considered lies between 2006 and 2013.

“That 2012-2017 Future Run might be better than Waynes run if we keeping it a 1000,” Rosenberg Raw wrote in the tweet.

Almost immediately, users began taking aim at him over the bold claim, with a resounding number of the replies arriving in favor of Wayne as the feature juggernaut over Future.

“Nah we never seen a verse’s expectations instantly go up cause of a lighter flick… no words,” a user wrote in a quoted response to the original tweet.

“I love me some future but be fr,” another user added.

There were, however, several users who appeared to make a case for Future taking the feature verse G.O.A.T. crown.

“It sounds crazy but Future got 6 of the 7 projects no skips all stuck in any vicinity during that run,” a user pointed out. Another user added, “ur not wrong but it’s close. still future > wayne.”

A post shared by AllHipHop (@allhiphopcom)

By the time the debate reached IG users, real-life rappers began to chime in, and in this case, Swisha House rap legend Mike Jones ended up picking up where the debate left off. However, in his defense of Wayne, the “Back Then” rapper took a different approach by highlighting what each lyricist managed to do following their “epic” feature runs.

“Not at all!” Mike Jones wrote in part. “Both of the runs was goof, but who Wayne put on after his epic run? & who future put on after his epic run? That shows real legacy as the game has to keep going and growing #YoungMoney.”

Though it’s truly near impossible to quantify this argument into a definitive decision for a winner and loser in the battle, there are a number of factors that lean in the direction of Wayne’s favor over Future. The main one that coms to mind is the 2013 feature Future provided for Wayne from his I Am Not a Human Being II track “Love Me” featuring Drake.

The track is one of the highest charting features Future produced in his extended window during the 2010s era, after it reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. On the flip side, Wayne contributed to at least two chart-toppers during his reign in the mid-to-late 2000s via his efforts on tracks such as Jay Sean’s mega hit “Down.”

EXCLUSIVE: Missy Elliott Defeats “Heartbroken” Songwriter In Battle Over Aaliyah Royalties

A judge has dismissed a lawsuit against Missy Elliott in a high-stakes battle over claims of royalties and co-ownership of songs by the late singer Aaliyah.

Williams initiated the lawsuit in 2018, arguing that he collaborated with Elliott from 1993 to 1996 on numerous recordings by artists like 702, Total and others.

They also wrote thirty-four unpublished songs, one of which was “Heartbroken.”

He alleged these compositions were later used by R&B group SISTA and on Aaliyah’s album One in a Million, particularly citing “Heartbroken.”

His lawsuit sought recognition as a co-author, damages for breach of contract, and compensation for unjust enrichment.

Elliott refuted Williams’ claims firmly throughout the legal proceedings.

The dispute took a critical turn as Judge Nitza I. Quiñones Alejandro evaluated summary judgment motions from both sides, leading to a decisive ruling.

In her detailed decision, Judge Quiñones Alejandro ruled in favor of Elliott on Aaliyah’s “Heartbroken,” citing the three-year statute of limitations.

The judge determined Williams forfeited his claim by failing to act within the limitations period following the song’s 1996 release and did not exhibit reasonable diligence in recognizing the alleged infringement.

“Williams commenced this action against Elliott on November 14, 2018, over twenty-two years after the release of ‘Heartbroken.’ Under these circumstances, this Court further finds that Williams has failed to offer evidence that he exercised due diligence. As such, Williams’ co-ownership claim based on the song ‘Heartbroken’ released by Aaliyah is barred by the three-year statute of limitations,” Judge Alejandro said.

However, Judge Quiñones Alejandro denied Elliott’s motion for summary judgment regarding the SISTA songs.

She concluded there remains a substantial question concerning Williams’ claimed co-authorship of the unpublished pieces that allegedly found their way into SISTA’s discography.

The Court’s rulings were explicit: Judge Quiñones Alejandro granted Elliott’s motion to dismiss the claims linked to Aaliyah’s “Heartbroken” but denied the rap star’s motion concerning the SISTA songs.

As such, Williams and Elliott will continue their protracted legal wrangling.

The win for Missy comes days after the tragic death of Aaliyah. The singer was killed on August 25, 2001, after her plane crashed into the ocean near Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas.

She was 22 years old.

Tupac Shakur Case: Prosecutors Vow To Investigate Bondsman Over Keefe D Bail Cover-Up

A Nevada judge refused to release Duane “Keefe D” Davis ahead of his trial for Tupac Shakur’s murder on Tuesday (August 27). Judge Carli Kierny remained concerned with the source of the money used to pay Keefe D’s $750,000 bail, per the Associated Press.

“I have a sense that things are trying to be covered up,” the judge said at Tuesday’s hearing.

Judge Kierny previously denied Keefe D’s bail in June. Wack 100 attempted to pay 15 percent of Keefe D’s bail and cover the rest with the help of a bondsman. The judge questioned Wack 100’s motives and the legitimacy of the funds.

“I don’t really see where the actual $112,500 came from with what’s been provided,” Judge Kierny said in June. “I also don’t find the defense has met the burden … to show that the bail is not connected to Mr. Davis ultimately talking about Mr. Shakur’s murder and any evidence to contrary is not credible.”

Keefe D’s lawyer continued fighting for his release after the judge’s initial denial. Attorney Carl Arnold also contested restrictions on Keefe D’s ability to profit from his connection to Shakur’s murder.

“Judge Kierny does not at this time have the legal authority to prevent Mr. Davis from being paid any proceeds deriving from his story related to his life or any connection he allegedly has with the murder of Mr. Shakur,” Arnold argued.

Keefe D claimed he would provide more financial records to prove Wack 100’s money was obtained legally. The murder suspect failed to alleviate Judge Kierny’s concerns by submitting two letters from an entertainment company, which supposedly wired the funds to Wack 100.

Judge Kierny said one letter was signed by someone with no ties to the company. The second letter featured a misspelled name and return address for a doctor’s office.

Keefe D’s bail bid created problems for the bondsman working with Wack 100. Prosecutors said the bond dealer may have committed a felony by submitting a false document to the court.

“The state takes that very seriously,” prosecutor Binu Palal declared. “Be advised that it will not go uninvestigated.”

Keefe D has remained in jail since his 2023 arrest. His trial is scheduled to begin in November.

Shakur was shot and killed in 1996. Authorities say Keefe D was the “shot caller” behind Shakur’s murder.

Juicy J Reflects On Deaths Of Three 6 Mafia Members On Jazz Rap Album

Juicy J surprised fans by releasing a jazz rap album titled Ravenite Social Club on Tuesday (August 27). The Three 6 Mafia co-founder mourned the deaths of fellow members Gangsta Boo, Koopsta Knicca and Lord Infamous on the album’s lead single “To You.”

“Paul’s momma’s house, you created the triple flow/I know it sound like I’m crying, I just missed you though/Heart gave out, heart attack in your sleep/Hope you finally get some rest, finally get some peace” Juicy J rapped about Lord Infamous.

Lord Infamous passed away in 2013. Koopsta Knicca died just two years later, suffering a fatal stroke in 2015.

Gangsta Boo died from an accidental overdose in 2023. Juicy J recalled her struggles with drugs on “To You.”

“Didn’t wanna speak on it ‘cause we all grown/Had a feeling you finna get called home/Hate to see one of the best fall for the worst/Remember when I got that call, it was on the first/She was first doing her, head of her class/Thank God for the group, the times that we had,” he rapped about Gangsta Boo.

Juicy J’s “To You” featured jazz musician Robert Glasper and singer Emi Secrest. Juicy J discussed the song’s music video and his album’s title on Instagram Stories.

“I got [the title] from this social club out of New York,” he said. “It’s a place where John Gotti used to hang out. And I just thought it was a cool idea to call it the Ravenite Social Club. My first video is called ‘To You’ and it’s a lot of emotions going on. I’m trying to capture what’s going on in the inside of a person.”

He continued, “You know everybody in the club is not always happy. You see somebody drinking: some people are happy, some people are sad, some people are going through situations in life. So, that’s kind of what I’m trying to capture with each video I shoot. What’s the troubles or what are you happy about or what are you celebrating? Because I feel like sometimes we go to the club to celebrate, sometimes we go to the club to escape.”

Diddy Accuser Lil Rod Fears For His Life: “My Mom Doesn’t Even Know Where I Live”

Producer Lil Rod spoke out for the first time since he sued Diddy in a Rolling Stone interview published on Tuesday (August 27). Lil Rod revealed his ongoing safety concerns after accusing Diddy of sexual assault, sex trafficking and racketeering, among other allegations, in a bombshell lawsuit.

“There have been too many people trying to figure out where I’m at,” the producer said. “I moved locations, moved states. Everything is private. My mom doesn’t even know where I live. It’s been like that pretty much all year.”

Lil Rod claimed he received threats. He needed to hire security for public performances, which hampered his ability to work with other artists. He was able to do a gig with T-Pain in Los Angeles in June. He also attended 50 Cent’s Humor & Harmony festival in Shreveport in August.

“I’ve never had so [many threats] hitting me at once,” Lil Rod said. “Diddy has a lot of people on his payroll in a lot of different positions. He’s very connected. It’s made me nervous traveling. Going to hotels, I ask if there’s any way to remove my name. [The last time] I landed in L.A., I knew he had connections there. I got off the plane worried. I masked my face and changed my outfits, trying to disguise myself. For sure I was uncomfortable, paranoid, afraid. But I told myself, you can’t keep living like this. I’ve got three therapists.”

Lil Rod believed he was blackballed for suing Diddy. The producer struggled with suicidal thoughts and financial woes. He praised T-Pain as one of the few people in the industry who didn’t shun him.

“I’m broke,” Lil Rod said. “I have no source of income right now. Every month I’m trying to figure out how the bills are going to get paid. I had my phone turned off for like 24 hours. And a lot of people just sit back and watch. But T-Pain is a real friend. His team worked to make sure it was safe for me [to work the show in Los Angeles]. That felt good. But there should be more artists like T-Pain having my back.”

Lil Rod and multiple women sued Diddy for sexual assault and other misdeeds over the past year. Diddy, who’s under federal investigation for sex trafficking, asked a judge to dismiss Lil Rod’s lawsuit on Monday (August 26). The Hip-Hop mogul’s lawyer described the lawsuit as “pure fiction.”

Lil Baby Arrested On Gun Charge In Las Vegas

Lil Baby was reportedly arrested in Las Vegas on Monday (August 26) for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

On Tuesday (August 27), TMZ reported the “BAND4BAND” hitmaker was being held at Clark County Detention Center on $5,000 bail. It is unclear if the rapper remains in police custody.

Lil Baby’s attorneys, Drew Findling and David Chesnoff, confirmed the charges in a statement to TMZ.

“To be clear, [Lil Baby] has a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit,” they shared. “On his behalf we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”

Lil Baby was in Sin City to celebrate his good friend James Harden’s birthday. Footage shows him partying with Harden, Travis Scott, Michael Rubin and other celebs at a birthday bash at Drai’s nightclub.

One video circulating online shows Lil Baby counting out a wad of 100-dollar bills to tip staff at Toca Madera restaurant. He reportedly left an $11,000 tip for lucky employees.

Meanwhile, last week, Lil Baby revealed his plans to purchase all the stores he used to hustle outside. He has already bought at least one such property in Atlanta. It appears he wants to legitimize his weed-dealing past, turning the store into a smoke shop.

“I’m buying every store I trapped in front of,” he said while showing off the renovations in a video. “Ain’t nothing wrong with buying chains and watches and s###, I got a lot of that stuff,” he said before adding there are other things he wants to spend his hard-earned money on.

Ludacris Responds To Concerns After Drinking Ancient Glacial Water In Alaska

Ludacris drinking ancient glacial water during a trip to Alaska created a commotion online as social media users debated if it was safe for him to do so.

On Monday (August 26), Luda shared a video from an Alaskan glacier, revealing he was fulfilling a bucket list dream.

“I’ve never tasted fresh glacial water ever in my life and this is a first,” Ludacris said before filling a bottle with water. He couldn’t believe how good the water tasted, yelling, “Oh my God!” after he took a sip.

However, social media users were concerned that the water wasn’t safe to drink.

“Be careful with glacier water!” one person in Luda’s comment section warned. “Even though it looks fresh and clean, it’s often full of bacteria, parasites, and viruses… Microorganisms you definitely don’t want in your system.. It can make you extremely sick. Make sure to boil it first to stay safe! and joked that he could have ingested something nasty.”

Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., also reacted to a clip doing the rounds on X(Twitter). “How long ago did he shoot this and have we been monitoring him?” he joked. He also shared a TikTok video from someone who claimed they were sick for two weeks after drinking from an Alaskan glacier.

The U.S. National Parks Service says it is “essential that you purify natural water.” According to the NPS website, such water may look clean but “can still be filled with bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can result in waterborne diseases.”

Ludacris Reveals Glacier Water Was Best He’s Ever Tasted

However, despite the concerns, Ludacris revealed he feels like “superman” after drinking from the glacier.

“For everybody asking me how that glacier water really tasted,” he said in a follow-up video. “When I tell y’all I am a water snob, it was the best tasting water I’ve ever had in my life and as I drank, I felt like every cell in my human body was being hydrated and rejuvenated at the same damn time.”

Big Sean Confirms Album Release Date Amid COVID Diagnosis In Emotional IG Live

Big Sean’s voice trembled with emotion as he finally announced the release date for his highly-anticipated album while revealing his COVID diagnosis.

Earlier this month, Sean revealed he was pushing back his Better Me Than You album amid a leak of an unfinished version of the project. During a candid Instagram Live Monday (August 26), the Detroit rapper confirmed the album will arrive later this week.

“I’ve been having a hard time lately, straight up. It has not been easy,” he said, explaining that he’s a “chronic overthinker.”

He took a long pause, then added, “you make art you put your heart into this s###.” Sean then spun his chair away from the camera before leaving the room. He revealed his COVID diagnosis when he returned a short time later.

“When I had COVID last week I was down and I was still working on the album,” Big Sean shared.

He continued, thanking his mother and crediting her with helping him decide to drop the album. According to Sean, he procrastinated over the release until his mother convinced him during a call the night before.

“She was giving me them words,” he explained. “And I was just like, look, I can keep working on some s### and make it exactly how I wanted. But I’d be pushing it back forever.”

Big Sean heeded his mother’s advice, announcing, “The album is dropping this week.”

Big Sean’s Better Me Than You album is set to arrive on Friday, August 30.
