Uhm, Why Didn’t Anybody Know Sheff G Was Out Of Jail?

When Sheff G was among those arrested in a huge bust of alleged gang members, some of us were like “HUH.” Why? The last time we checked, Sheff G was in jail. When his boy Sleepy Hallow got out, there were news stories and IG posts. When Sheff G apparently got out, nobody was told! And I still do not know when he got out. I did not look at any jail records or anything, but you just seem to know these things. Back in February, Sheff G told us “I’m next” when his homey got out. And that was it.

But that was not it for the cops. They clearly knew he was out and were probably following him the second he was released. The well-know drill rapper, got knocked in New York on a gun possession charge back in July of 2021. He was sentenced to 2 years in jail for the charge. That was his second felony. This ish right here…could be his serious undoing. Seemingly, almost immediately after getting out of jail, he was walking right back in.

Look at this!

I cannot believe this dude is back in jail!!! I am disappointed in him. I ain’t going to lie.

Three years ago, we interviewed him…and the result is…POOF!

Roc Nation’s ‘Exposing Parchman’ Documentary To Debut On A&E

Team ROC, the social justice and philanthropic arm of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation agency, has been heavily involved in uncovering the inhumane treatment of inmates inside the Mississippi State Penitentiary (aka Parchman Farm).

Back in 2020, Roc Nation founder Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and fellow Hip Hop mogul Mario “Yo Gotti” Mims worked with attorneys and medical experts to present evidence of Parchman Farm’s unsanitary living situations.

Two years later, Jay-Z and Yo Gotti’s advocacy led to a Department of Justice investigation into the Mississippi State Penitentiary. A DOJ report suggested the facility’s conditions violated the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

Roc Nation partnered with the A&E Network, ITV America’s Good Caper Content, and Red Summer TV to produce a documentary about Mississippi’s oldest prison. Exposing Parchman will air on June 17 at 8 pm ET/PT on A&E.

Jay-Z, Yo Gotti & More Appear In The Exposing Parchman Doc

“The accounts of the individuals incarcerated at Parchman and their desperate family members are heartbreaking. There are so many untold stories like this that have a profound impact on American culture, communities, and families,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming for A&E.

Bryant continues, “Shining a light on human rights atrocities and the need for reform has been a cornerstone of the A&E brand and we hope Exposing Parchman brings awareness to the public and sparks much-needed change to the American prison and justice system.”

Exposing Parchman includes interviews with Jay-Z, Yo Gotti, Congressman Bennie Thompson, activist Tamika Mallory, and activist Rukia Lumumba. The Rahman Ali Bugg-directed film also features family members of current and formerly incarcerated men, other prison reform activists, and the legal team that led the lawsuit.

Exposing Parchman Will Premiere At The Tribeca Festival

“The incarcerated population in Parchman and their loved ones have experienced immeasurable pain and suffering, so we felt a responsibility to help them share their stories with the compassion and consideration that it deserves,” said Desiree Perez, CEO of Roc Nation.

Perez also added, “Our hope is that this documentary will educate the public about these torturous injustices, hold the leaders in Mississippi accountable for fostering unconstitutional and inhumane conditions in Parchman, and create swift and comprehensive change to eradicate the state’s depravity in this prison and disregard for the criminal justice system.”

Before airing on A&E, Exposing Parchman will premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Festival in New York City on June 14. The subjects, legal team, and Roc Nation executives behind the documentary will take part in a panel discussion following the screening.

Marlon Wayans Addresses Rumors About ‘White Chicks 2’

Nearly two decades ago, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans starred in the 2004 comedy White Chicks. Fans of the film have been hoping the Wayans brothers would reprise their roles in a sequel.

White Chicks grossed more than $113 million at the worldwide box office and $70 million domestically. The cast included Jaime King, Busy Philipps, Jennifer Carpenter, Jessica Cauffiel, Brittany Daniel, and Terry Crews.

Marlon Wayans has now made it clear White Chicks 2 will not premiere in any movie theaters any time soon. The 50-year-old comedian/actor addressed the rumors of another White Chicks on his Instagram page.

“Not true… AT ALL!” wrote Marlon Wayans in an Instagram caption. That concise message from the former Howard University student accompanied an apparent fan-made White Chicks 2 movie poster.

Last year, Marlon Wayans also essentially shot down the idea of making a second White Chicks. He told GQ, “Everybody says, ‘Do a White Chicks 2.’ I’m like, ‘F### yourself. You do a White Chicks 2. I’m doing Black-man movies.'”

However, Marlon seemed more open to creating White Chicks 2 while appearing on the Drink Champs podcast last month. The recurring actor in Peacock’s Bel-Air drama series also mentioned his Scary Movie slasher parody film series.

“If we do White Chicks 2, it gotta be me and Shawn,” said Marlon Wayans. The Air cast member added, “We’ll see. I don’t throw that into the universe because I don’t control it. But I would do a White Chicks 2. I think that and a return to the Scary Movie franchise.”

Beyoncé Teases New Hair Care-Based Venture To Honor Mother’s Legacy

Beyoncé doesn’t post much on Instagram outside of glossy pictures of her, Jay-Z, and their beautiful children, but when she does, you better believe it’s a major announcement that causes ripples online.

Her latest post did just that as the superstar songstress teased a new venture that seemingly sees her branching into hair care.

Despite being on one of the most highly anticipated tours of recent times, Beyoncé took to Instagram to share a reflective post with a surprise twist at the end. The first in the trio of images sees Bey sitting at a beauty vanity while styling her hair. On the counter next to her sits a variety of products with what appears to be handwritten labels.

The second slide is a close-up of a young Beyoncé smiling while her hair is braided. In the final slide, Beyoncé shared a letter reflecting on her first job before revealing her secret project.

“How many of y’all knew my first job was sweeping hair in my mama’s salon?” Beyoncé began.

“Destiny’s Child got our start by performing for clients while they were getting their hair done,” she continued. “I was exposed to so many different kinds of entrepreneurial women in her salon.”

Beyoncé added: “I saw firsthand how the ways we nurture and celebrate hair can directly impact our souls. I watched her heal and be of service to so many women. Having learned so much on my hair journey, I’ve always dreamed of carrying on her legacy. I can’t wait for you to experience what I’ve been creating.”

Vic Mensa Raps About Ja Morant’s Gun Incident As Grizzlies Star Breaks Silence Over Scandal

Ja Morant’s recent suspension from the NBA for brandishing a gun on social media has inspired a bar from Vic Mensa.

The Roc Nation artist was asked his thoughts about the suggestion that the NBA player wants to be a rapper. Before sharing his opinion, Vic Mensa laughed and revealed the scandal prompted him to write a bar.

“My mama keep telling me to stop, I can’t/the second time they caught me with that gun, damn, I feel like Ja Morant,” Mensa rapped to TMZ

After rapping the line, the Chicago artist offered his take on the ordeal.

“I think God blessed Ja Morant, man,” Vic Mensa explained. “I pray that that brother gets it together and he figures it out because he’s too brilliant and so talented. He’s got a gift, he’s got a real gift. So, I don’t want to see him have to go down that path because he’s so good.”

He also said, “I think God blessed him,” before adding, “I’m not gonna say anything to disparage him. There’s enough people doing that.”

On Sunday, (May 14), The Memphis Grizzlies announced Ja Morant was suspended from all league activities for brandishing a gun on Instagram Live for the second time. He was eventually given an eight-game suspension without pay and could face further consequences.

Ja Morant: “I’m committed to continuing to work on myself”

Meanwhile, the point guard broke his silence over the controversy on Tuesday (May 16).

“I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do,” he said, via ESPN. “My words may not mean much right now, but I take full responsibility for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”

In an interview also on Tuesday, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said he and Morant talked “directly about the consequences,” adding that he was “shocked” by Ja Morant’s behavior.

“Frankly most of our conversation was about how incredibly serious the first incident was of waving a firearm on social media. The consequences there — an eight-game suspension was pretty serious. And something that he, at least to me, seemed to take incredibly seriously in that time,” Silver explained during an ESPN interview.

He added, “Honestly, I was shocked when I saw this weekend that video.”

The pair share a close bond, and the “Pressure” vocalist entrusted the Fayetteville, North Carolina representative to post a message she sent him about what her age/sex/location album means to her.

“I asked Ari what this new album means to her,” J. Cole wrote. “I needed to know cuz I f### with it so heavy. What I hear is the highs, lows, joys and pains of dating life in 2022. But her answer made it even deeper for me. Appreciate you @arilennox Looking forward to the rest of the world hearing it.”

Just weeks after being sentenced to a year behind bars, 42 Dugg has made a plea for help claiming the conditions in his prison are so dire that he’s deprived of his basic human rights.

Cartune Beatz: The Beat Master For Conway, Method Man, Lloyd Banks, Freddie Gibbs, RJ Payne & More…Is Just Warming Up!

Photo: Henry Francois @_.henrock

Cartune Beatz, a Billboard charting producer originally from Harlem, started his career in the early 2000’s. Although basketball was his initial passion, Cartune found his other passion, Hip-Hop. Bouncing around a bit, down to Florida and other places, he began to focus.

During his college years in Pennsylvania, Cartune made the active decision to pursue music production while still nurturing his love for music. He started sharing his beats online and reaching out to artists on social media. Within a year of taking his production seriously, he started making strides with artists like Driicky Graham, Drumma Boy, King Los, DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia, Spectacular of Pretty Ricky, and Twista, among others. Despite a few brief breaks from producing, Cartune made a triumphant return to the music scene with his contributions to Lloyd Banks’ Billboard-charting comeback album, The Course of The Inevitable.

Now, back in New York – specifically Long Island – he is on a tear. He continued his success by producing on RJ Payne’s “Leather Face 3,” featuring the likes of Redman and Inspectah Deck. Cartune is currently making a serious name for himself and making waves in the music production scene crafting for Dave East, King Los, Che Noir, Jae Skeese, Freeway, Ransom, Mickey Factz, Reo Cragun, Driicky and many more.

Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur talks to the newly-minted legend.

AllHipHop: How have you managed to cut through and get to this point?

Cartune Beatz: Really through a lot of work, patience, trial and error, and most importantly social media. I came into the industry on my own with no help, co-signs or direction. I started a Twitter account after creating a producer name and IG shortly after. Every connection I’ve made musically, social media helped assist me. I’ve also been blessed with enough talent to create in any genre of music. Over the past three years I locked in on more boombap and traditional sounding Hip-Hop.

AllHipHop: Much of your work is not listed on your official discography?

Cartune: Yes, alot of my early work was during the time of DatPiff mixtapes, through features etc. I’ve been making beats for a while so I’ve worked through the transition from CDs, to early website streaming platforms, to what is now the streaming era so a lot of my full discography of production is scattered but almost every song I’ve ever produced is on YouTube.

AllHipHop: How did you come to work so closely with Lloyd Banks and RJ Payne?

Cartune: As I mentioned before none of it would’ve been possible without social media. I came across RJ Payne as I started to delve into the underground and traditional boombap style a few years back. I found RJ on twitter and reached out and he gave me an email to send beats. It took a little work and consistency to get our first record done which was “Blood Everywhere” ft. Redman. I’m usually very consistent when sending so even after that I kept sending and ended up with another record on his LeatherFace project and the rest was history. I started flooding him with beats and we got on a crazy roll and it’s still going so shout out to RJ.

Lloyd Banks was similar but a little different. I found one of Lloyd Banks engineers on Instagram and reached out to send some beats. I landed one placement which was “Sidewalks” on COTI1. I tweeted out in excitement that I’d just landed a placement with one of my favorite rappers growing up and he retweeted it then followed me. I DMd him and said I got plenty more. The rest was history there too. I landed two more placements on COTI 1 and never looked back. I started flooding Banks with beats like I still do now and in 2023 we are 18 songs released and have put out an incredible trilogy with the Course of The Inevitable. That’s not to mention how many records we have done that aren’t out yet. So look forward to more on the way.

AllHipHop: Congrats on that! What is your approach to music in 2023 and has it changed since you started?

Cartune: My approach honestly hasn’t changed much. I’ve always been a hard worker, humble, and compete against myself. I’m always willing to do the work and reach out to other artists myself. I know I have the talent, but where separation is created is how hard you work and meet that talent.

AllHipHop: What do you think of A.I. and the creation of music into the future?

Cartune: Man as cool as AI is, it’s very scary for music. Music has already transistioned into more of an assembly line of who’s hot at the moment, put out music, done, next etc… Longeveity in music has changed and so has the value people have for music as well as production and some of the process. A.I. is a way for a lot more short cuts which I think ultimately will harm what makes music so special, which is the human side of it.

AllHipHop: Who are the producers you grew up looking up to?

Cartune: Crazily enough I grew up listening to every producer in Hip-Hop. While I was younger I didn’t even fully grasp what a producer was and their role until I got a little older and into my teens. My biggest influences were producers like Lex Luger, Southside, and plenty of others. Those two specifically gave incite into producing with FL studio ( a program I’d had since I was about 13) and really showed how far you could make it with that program. I’m sure many other producers before them used it but those two were making a huge splash in Hip-Hop at the time I decided I wanted to produce and make music too.

AllHipHop: What is next for you and who would you like to work out with?

Cartune: For me a lot more music is next. You will be hearing from me a lot more of the same production most have gotten to know me by which is boombap, but you will also hear me revert back to some of my starting roots of trap beats and all kinds of different sub genres in Hip-Hop and music in general. What I look forward to most is showing fans how diverse and equally skilled in the others genres I am with production. I definitely want to work with a long list of artists but currently at the moment I want to work with Nas, Drake, Kendrick, 50 Cent -whenever he’s back to music – J Cole, Durk and more. It’s a pretty long list but I plan on checking all of those names off before I’m done.

AllHipHop: Final words?

Cartune: I just want to remind people to keep chasing your dreams. You only fail when you quit. Music has been up and down for me but in the  instances they were, I devoted time to understand why and how I was contributing to that. Most importantly take time to educate yourself on the things you want to accomplish. There is usually so much more to see other than what shows on the surface and under is where you find the information that may help lead you to where you want to be.

Full Production Credits: Lloyd Banks, Conway The Machine, Benny The Butcher, Redman, Method Man, Marzz, Freddie Gibbs, Bun B, Ice T,  Dave East, King Los,RJ Payne, Che Noir, Jae Skeese, Freeway, Ransom, Mickey Factz, Reo Cragun, Driicky, KAAN, BrodieFresh,36Mafia (DJPaul), Inspectah Deck, DrummaBoy, BrysonTiller, Crooked I, Cormega, Chinx, Spectacular, FredDaGodson, Roscoe Dash, Twista, and more.

Rapper Jack Harlow Feels Constrained By Hip-Hop, So He’s Turning To Acting

Jack Harlow thinks he has more freedom as an actor than he does as a Hip-Hop artist.

The 25-year-old rapper explained why acting felt liberating at a screening for the White Men Can’t Jump remake on Monday (May 15). Jack Harlow alluded to certain limitations he faced in Hip-Hop during a Q&A in New York.

“I tell the truth on the mic, but maybe sometimes I feel some slight constraints in Hip-Hop because there’s a tradition to it, and I know I’m a guest in the genre,” he said, per PEOPLE. “There’s things that go through your head from time to time. But with acting I feel liberated to some degree — I feel like I could show up and I could be whoever I want to be today. I don’t know, I feel freedom.”

The new White Men Can’t Jump premieres on Hulu on Friday (May 19). Jack Harlow vowed to continue his acting career after the film’s release.

“Through this film, I was able to gain my confidence as an actor, and to me, this s### is not a side quest,” he said at Monday’s screening. “This isn’t a side mission that I’m tacking on just to keep the entertainer thing going and make some extra money.”

He added, “I really got the bug and fell in love with this, and I’m developing a deep passion for the craft of this the same way I had in music. I don’t want it to be a side hustle, I want to full-on go after this, and I’m going after it and I’m going to continue to do more.”

Jack Harlow dropped his Jackman album on April 28. He claimed he was the best white rapper since Eminem on the single “They Don’t Love It.”

6ix9ine Trends After Twitter Loses Its Mind Over Lookalike In Gay Adult Video

Tekashi 6ix9ine found himself trending on Twitter for an unexpected reason on Tuesday (May 16).

6ix9ine’s sexuality became a topic on social media after Twitter users thought he appear in gay pornography. The explicit footage featured a man who slightly resembled the rapper.

Twitter users also spread photos of 6ix9ine kissing a man on the cheek. The photo was posted alongside wild claims the guy was his boyfriend.

Various commenters suggested 6ix9ine is gay. Others simply shared their stunned reactions to the explicit video despite it being a case of mistaken identity.

6ix9ine frequently sparked controversy throughout his career for his legal troubles and social media antics. His outrageous behavior helped fuel his rise in the music industry but earned him many enemies over the years.

The New York-bred rapper infamously snitched on his former gang, which came back to bite him earlier this year. Three men attacked him inside a Florida gym in March.

6ix9ine called it a “cowardly” act. Footage of the assault surfaced online.

Rafael Medina Jr., his son Octavious and Anthony Maldonado were arrested for the attack. Authorities said the elder Medina is a high-ranking member of the Latin Kings.

“I love Fayetteville so much, next year I’m running for mayor,” he said. “That’s right. The boss Rick Ross running for mayor of Fayetteville.”

Travis Barker’s Daughter Is A Rapper. Judge Her Skills!

God Help – This is Travis Barker’s daughter.

It looks like everybody wants to be a rapper these days. Travis Barker is one of the most famous, storied rock ‘n’ roll icons of our time. He’s always been cool and he’s never been a sucker. But some might be surprised to know that he has a daughter that raps.

Now, that’s a shocker to me because I would think that she would prefer to go another route, especially with the limitations Hip-Hop can place on one of these days. But now she looks like she’s coming off like one of the girls. Like she wants to do a song with Megan Thee Stallion or something.

The other thing is we have seen time and time again we’re a young white rapper turns into a whole rock star later in life, using our culture to propel himself to that other stratosphere. We have seen it with that piece of crap Kid Rock. We have seen it with white Iverson aka Post Malone. And we’ve even seen it withMGK who still does dabble in Hip-Hop When he feels like it. At any rate, I’m just giving you the 411. We give the Beastie Boys a pass because they were always super dope to the culture and also as rock guys. Also, they never pretended to be these hippity hoppity people. They were rap-adjacent from the get-go as a punk band.

So check out rapper Alabama and share your thoughts.

For some reason, I am getting Chet Haze vibes. But Chet’s mom, Rita Wilson is super cool. The irony.

Lenny Kravitz Thrilled To See Black Artists Having More “Artistic Freedom”

Lenny Kravitz is “thrilled” to see the new generation of Black artists having more “artistic freedom” than he had in the early days of his career.

The “Fly Away” singer feels excited witnessing a new crop of Black artists experiencing “artistic freedom” and being able to create music in pop, rock and alternative genres, instead of being limited to R&B and Hip-Hop.

Recalling the music industry around the time he signed to his record label, Kravitz told Billboard, “Everything was in these really tight boxes, white and black. Like ‘the pop department,’ it meant white, and the Black department was R&B.”

He added, “It makes me feel great that there is that artistic freedom. I’m always flattered and honored when those artists come up to me and tell me how much I meant to them. They grew up listening to my music and looking at the visuals, and felt that they could push the boundaries.”

Lenny Kravitz then name-dropped singer-songwriter Steve Lacy, and noted that watching the 24-year-old “reinspires” him.

Elsewhere in the interview, the “American Woman” hitmaker revealed that his next two albums are “pretty much cut” and he is looking forward to going back on the road after his last tour was canceled midway through due to the pandemic.

“I was two years into a three-year world tour when COVID hit,” he explained. “So I’m really happy to be getting back on the road and playing and sharing that experience with the people.”

Sheff G Among 32 People Arrested In New York City During “Gang Crackdown”

Sheff G was arrested in New York City on Tuesday (May 16), accused of paying gang members to commit murder and other crimes. According to ABC7, the rapper (né Michael Williams) is among 32 alleged gang members charged in series of Brooklyn shootings that left one person dead and several others injured.

The indictment alleges the defendants are all members of 8 Trey Crips and its affiliate, the 9 Ways gang, who committed shootings, possessed guns and used stolen cars to eliminate rivals, including members of Folk Nation Gangster Disciples and ICG Babiiez. The indictment covers 27 acts of violence.

“The senseless gun violence, allegedly committed by these defendants, terrorized our neighbors for years and left more than a dozen people with serious injuries,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said. “It is distressing to know that some of the violence was allegedly fueled by a young man who used money he made from a successful music career to allegedly pay for and encourage acts of violence.”

Prosecutors say Sheff G offered money and expensive jewelry to anyone who committed acts of violence under his direction. The indictment also outlined one shooting in which he allegedly coordinated a group of three shooters, drove them to the crime scene and then acted as the getaway driver.

In October 2020, defendant Kamondre Dekattu was captured on surveillance video emerging from the sunroof of a white Infiniti and opening fire while other individuals fired guns from the driver’s side and rear driver’s side windows. Theodore Senior, an alleged Folk Nation rival, was fatally wounded and five other alleged Folk Nation members were left with non-life threatening injuries.

Roughly 48 hours after the shooting, Sheff G supposedly hosted a dinner with his fellow 8 Trey Crips and 9 Ways members at a Manhattan steakhouse to celebrate the death of Senior and the injuries of the five others.

“Sheff G became a prominent member of this gang and became central to our investigation,” Gonzalez said during a news conference. “Sheff G used a lot of the money that he earned to facilitate further gang activity. He encouraged gang members to participate in violent crimes.”

Kim K.’s Son Grateful For Mom After Saying She Means “Nothing” To Him; Some Blame Kanye

Kim Kardashian’s son Saint has been criticized for his Mother’s Day message.

In a video posted to the reality star’s Instagram Story, nine-year-old North, seven-year-old Saint, five-year-old Chicago and four-year-old Psalm West shared messages for their mother.

“Mom, I’m very grateful for you. I know I’m mean to you a lot and say you’re nothing to me, but you mean the world to me,” Saint said in his Mother’s Day video message to Kim. “I love you more than anything.”

Kim shares her four children with ex-husband Kanye West. In the video, Saint wore a Yeezus shirt, referencing a nickname for his father.

“You’re my favorite in the family. I even love you more than my cute little brother Psalm,” Saint continued. “I love you.”

Users caught Saint saying “you’re nothing to me,” with one claiming, “He probably heard it from his father. Kids don’t just say that.” Another echoed, “It means he hears his father say that about his mother. Awful.”

Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February 2021 and it was finalized in November 2022.
