Uncle Luke has revealed that 2 Live Crew and the heirs of the group members have won a major legal case that has granted them the rights to their music.
On Wednesday (October 16), Uncle Luke shared an Instagram post announcing a court had ruled in favor of 2 Live Crew in a case over the rights to their catalog and trademark. In addition to confirming that 2 Live Crew members Mr. Mixx and the heirs of the late Brother Marquis and Fresh Kid Ice had been granted the rights to all of their albums as a result of the ruling, Uncle Luke took a shot at Joseph Weinberger, who bought all the master and publishing rights to the group’s albums and trademark in 1996.
“I got some good news for y’all,” Campbell started off in the video. “2 Live Crew. All of our albums, we won. We got all our s##t back from Little Joe Weinberger.”
In the caption of the post, Campbell added to his message by thanking God that the legendary Hip-Hop group was once again the “rightful” owners of their music catalog.
“The verdict is in members of the 2live crew,” he wrote in part before adding, “We have just got our catalog back to its rightful owners we a have amazing God. To everyone everyone reading this never give up the fight.”
The verdict follows a years-long legal battle that was initiated in 2021 after Weinberger, who owns Lil’ Joe Records, sued 2 Live Crew in objection to letters of termination sent in 2020 to reclaim the rights of their first three albums amid the 35th anniversary of their releases under U.S. copyright law.
At the time that Weinberger purchased the rights from Uncle Luke’s Luke Records imprint, the outfit was forced into bankruptcy the year prior, according to Music Business Worldwide. Those circumstances ended up becoming an integral part of 2 Live Crew’s legal counsel’s argument that they were rightfully able to reclaim the rights to their catalog because they were not “works for hire” and were not employees of Lil’ Joe Records at the time that their master and publishing rights were sold to Weinberger..
Several communities in Mexico are struggling to find answers after a highway connecting them has turned into a crime scene.
According to Border Report, authorities in Jalisco, Mexico, have set out on a grueling mission to find the suspects responsible for the brutal slaying of five men, whose severed heads and bodies were left scattered along a highway on Sunday. The shocking discovery was made along Federal Highway 80 in the town of Ojuelos, near the Zacatecas state line.
“Several security personnel corroborated the find of five bodies, apparently all of them males, with their pants and wrapped in plastic bags,” the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office confirmed in a chilling statement, according to Border Report. “
They also located another bag apparently containing the heads of the victims, whose ages have not been determined.” Local authorities, visibly shaken, removed the bodies from the crime scene and rushed them to a medical facility for further examination.
The murders come just days after Jalisco’s governor, Enrique Alfaro, revealed that a criminal organization had blocked a highway and torched vehicles in retaliation for the arrest of two of its members. According to local reports, three highways were blocked in a violent rampage. Authorities suspect the involvement of the notorious Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), but the Attorney General’s Office has yet to officially confirm which group orchestrated the bloodshed.
“A prosecutor accompanied by police investigators has opened a case file to establish the facts and arrest those who may be responsible,” the AG’s Office said, promising justice amidst growing fears of cartel retaliation.
This chilling act is not an isolated incident. In the past decade, Mexico has seen a surge in such grisly displays. In 2017, CJNG left the decapitated bodies of 15 victims scattered across Veracruz, while in 2020, gunmen unleashed chaos in Guanajuato, leaving over 20 people dead in cartel-related violence. Authorities are struggling to keep up as these criminal organizations expand their terror, leaving a trail of bloodshed across Mexico’s highways and towns.

Tommy Richman, best known for the smash hit “Million Dollar Baby,” sought Grammy nominations in two rap categories. Richman’s popular single was submitted for the Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The categorization was notable since Richman, who is white, claimed he’s “not a Hip-Hop artist” in a since-deleted tweet on October 2. Richman faced backlash for his comments as DJs and fans questioned why he was distancing himself from Hip-Hop.
“Glad I got the PSA before I did my radio mix,” DJ Hed wrote in reaction to Richman’s declaration. “I now have 2 open slots. What should I play? (From an artist proud to be Hip-Hop). NO ONE is bigger than the culture.”
Richman later clarified himself.
“I’ll say again, I’m thankful for everything,” Richman wrote. “I’m saying I don’t wanna be boxed in. I grew up on Hip-Hop. But I’m a singer. I meant to say I’m not SOLEY a Hip-Hop artist.”
DJ Hed responded, “Understood, however there are nuances that can be perceived when statements are made. I don’t believe you have malicious intent but I do believe there is much to be learned about the system that you have entered within this thing we do. I hope it works out for you (Not sarcasm).”
“You in that group of people that can receive your success and never have to talk to Black people,” Budden said of Richman. “But the first time you speak … you saying it when Hip-Hop has broken you and accepted you, it gives us remnants of all of the white acts who their barrier of entry is Hip-Hop and then they abandoned it, throw it to the side and start doing country folk music and act like that s### never happened.”
Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” became one of 2024’s biggest hits, largely thanks to TikTok. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Richman dropped his debut album Coyote in September.
Slim Jxmmi wants to settle his beef with Hurricane Chris in a boxing match. The Rae Sremmurd member called out Hurricane Chris in an Instagram post on Wednesday (October 16).
“@hurricanechrisofficial I know you forgot,” Slim Jxmmi wrote. “So this your reminder. Start training cause I’m working with @officialbelaire”
Slim Jxmmi posted a video showing off his punching prowess. The rapper took a swig of alcohol before hitting a heavy bag.
“Whenever you ready to box, I’m ready!” he said. “Your boy stay ready. I don’t gotta get ready. So, you can let me know.”
Hurricane Chris and Slim Jxmmi’s problems began in September. Hurricane Chris tried to connect his issues with 50 Cent’s Humor & Harmony festival in Shreveport to Lil Wayne not getting to perform at the Super Bowl in New Orleans.
“Big [companies] are attempting to erase our history and use us for a money play and they know how to turn us against one another by feeding a few and starving the rest we must demand respect or lose everything we love I’m not afraid to fight and stand up for what I believe in are you,” Hurricane Chris declared.
Slim Jxmmi scoffed at Hurricane Chris’ opinion.
“BRUH!” he wrote. “AINT NO WAY YOU STILL REACHING!”
Hurricane Chris responded, “Mind yo business unless you wanna see these hands bruh on god what’s poppin.”
Slim Jxmmi was unfazed by the threat.
“I’ll slap the ‘Ay Bay Bay’ out this n####,” he wrote.
Hurricane Chris released his debut single “Ay Bay Bay” in 2007. It remains the best-selling song of his career.
Big Meech, founder of the notorious street organization and record label Black Mafia Family (BMF), has been released from prison after two decades behind bars.
On Wednesday (October 16), a report from TMZ confirmed Big Meech had been released and transferred to a halfway house in Florida, where he will serve the remainder of his sentence ahead of his scheduled release in 2025.
Big Meech, whose real name is Demetrius Flenory, was transferred from FCI Coleman Low to community confinement overseen by the Federal Bureau of Prison’s Miami Residential Reentry Management office. Brittany K. Barnett, the lawyer of the former BMF kingpin and co-founder of the Buried Alive Project, released a statement to confirm reports that Flenory has been released from prison under several conditions. Though Flenory’s legal counsel didn’t go into detail about the specifics of the provisions of Meech’s release, she did offer a glimpse into the plight the Detroit native has faced throughout the duration of his lengthy prison term.
“I’m overjoyed that Demetrius Flenory is finally free after nearly 20 years behind bars,” Barnett wrote in the statement. “Two decades is an incredibly long time, and it’s been inspiring to witness the power of hope and resilience. He used his time in prison to focus on personal growth and transformation, and now he has the opportunity to begin a new chapter.”
As Barnett continued in the statement, she stressed the importance of advocacy for inmates who still may not have the opportunity for a conditional release such as Flenory’s.
“He’s out, but millions more remain trapped inside – there’s still so much work to be done,” the statement reads. “We need to push for real change, for a justice system that recognizes the dignity and potential for redemption in every individual. Our commitment to challenging the injustices that still exist within the criminal legal system remains unwavering. There is nothing more urgent than freedom.”
I’ve confirmed MEECH IS FREE AS @thejasminebrand REPORTED! However there are some “conditions”of his release per 1 source I’m speaking to.
Separately his attorney.. Brittany K. Barnett, attorney and co-founder of the Buried Alive Project
News of Flenory’s release follows a judge’s ruling earlier this year to shorten his sentences by nearly three years. After being arrested in 2005, he was originally sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008 following his conviction on drug trafficking and money laundering charges. In April 2020, he and his brother, Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, sought compassionate release due to COVID-19 risks. While his brother was released to home confinement, Big Meech’s request was denied four times by a judge and an appeals court.
Flenory reportedly accumulated more than $270 million in drug proceeds from the late 1990s until 2007. 50 Cent captured lightning in a bottle in 2021 with the STARZ series BMF, starring Flenory’s son Lil Meech, which is scheduled to debut its fourth season in early 2025.
Check out the video below for details on Big Meech’s harrowing journey in the trailer for the STARZ BMF documentary.
Red carpets can be tough, but the the Jazz at Columbus Circle in New York City was not.
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur talked to the legendary creator Teddy Riley at the premiere of Pharrell Williams’s new film, Piece By Piece. The evening drew an eclectic mix of cultural influencers and icons, including Clipse, Don Lemon, N.O.R.E. and A$AP Ferg, who gathered to celebrate at one of Manhattan’s most prestigious venues.
As the red carpet buzz settled, Creekmur talked to Riley about his his impact on music, culture and Pharrell Williams. Riley, who pioneered the New Jack Swing genre, spoke passionately about his role in shaping eras that includes today’s artists.
AllHipHop: AllHipHop is in the building with the legend himself, Teddy Riley. How you doing?
Teddy Riley: I’m great man? I can’t complain.
AllHipHop: Now first of all I got to thank you for putting Delaware in the song way back in the day “Rump Shaker,” man. I’m originally from Delaware. We were very happy.
Teddy Riley: That’s what’s up. We try to put everybody in there especially like when we did the names and all that stuff records. Our thing is, it’s about us. It’s about the culture and that’s what I represent. I didn’t try to do any pop records to be where I am today and the same thing with Pharrell. He just gave you his heart, his soul, his mind, his creativity and his journey.
AllHipHop: I mean you were truly a change agent how do you process being that impactful, that like Butterfly Effect, that ripple effect? Where your involvement changed everything?
Teddy Riley: well, there was a guy his name is Edwin Birdsong he’s the guy who was responsible for Stevie Wonder’s Songs In The Key Of Life. He passed away but that is the guy who did what I did for Pharrell he picked me out in a talent show where I was competing against Keith Sweat and that’s how me and Keith Sweat got to know each other and Keith Sweat and came in my projects to get a record done just like Bobby Brown and Johnny Kemp and everybody else.
When I went to Virginia, I seen the reflection of what happened for me, and he chose me and a talent show I chose the Neptunes and Pharrell because I wasn’t looking for the Apollo High note. I wasn’t looking for the ordinary practice artists. I was looking for creativity. When I came to Virginia there was nothing but practice folks like Jimmy Buffett you know and I said you know we got to change that just like we got to change our culture so nobody ain’t following. You can’t follow this [Lego movie]. This is the most Innovative thing [Pharrell has] ever done. You know what I’m saying? and I’m wondering how is he going to even top this sh#t? That’s what I call innovative. What I’ve done for the music industry and everyone saying I’m Innovative and nah.
I raise Innovative artists, people and creators.
AllHipHop: Well, do you want a movie on your life?
Teddy Riley: Yes, there is, it’s coming “New Jack Swing: Remember the Time” (book), and that’s coming out with Simon and Schuster and then the documentary. Then the unlimited series about New Jack: Swing and it involves everybody including Pharrell, you know.
Because when I went to Virginia it was me, Alpo, and Rich Porter was my best friend. We went to high school together. And how about D. Ferg (Darryl Ferguson), whose ASAP Ferg’s father, was my classmate. I am a part of the fathers, for real. And just being with Supreme and all of it from Brooklyn to Manhattan to the Bronx we all went to Martin Luther King High School.
That’s the history, that’s the birth of it. You got D. Ferg (Darold Ferguson) who birthed ASAP Ferg, you got me and Pharrell, and there are others. This whole journey keeps me alive, makes me proud to be alive and be the living legend, to say wow and I don’t say it everyone else does. It’s amazing. I did this.
Chuck Creekmur: I appreciate you and I can’t wait to see what you got to coming up.
Teddy Riley: Oh man, the New Jack Swing film, I can’t wait for people to see that because they’ll see the path of what I have truly done. Most of the time, you know, people are asking I don’t know how to even put it in words but I can only say that God is amazing
Ab-Soul did not diss J. Cole on his new single, according to TDE President Punch.
In a series of tweets on Monday (October 14), the record label mastermind took time to debunk a fan theory generated in light of Ab-Soul’s latest release “Swerve 1st 2.” Long story short, a conversation was upstarted over lyrics from Soul’s release by listeners who viewed a choice few bars as being shots sent in Cole’s direction. Furthermore, Punch opted to respond directly to a tweet alleging that Soul penned the lyrics as a sort of retaliation against Cole for what has been theorized as a subliminal sneak-diss to Kendrick Lamar via the Dreamville rapper’s recent project Might Delete Later.
Not in reference to the obvious since-deleted Kendrick diss track “7 Minute Drills” but in direct correlation to Cole’s move to add Lamar’s affiliates Daylyt and Soul to the album track “Pi” — which fans suspect contains yet another veiled jab. In a quoted response to the tweet in question, Punch begrudgingly revealed that “Pi” was crafted long before the proverbial warning shot popped off that kicked off the rap beef between Drake and Kendrick, which Cole bowed out of.
“I hate to clear up rumors, I usually let them fester and see how far they go, but ALL verses on ‘Pi’ were recorded long before ‘Like That’,” Punch wrote in his initial tweet.
He seemingly doubled down in another tweet, laying out his view of how competition in rap works, as opposed to fans’ view of the hierarchy of rappers. The tweet appears to double as an a supporting statement backing his declaration that Soul wasn’t dissing Cole in particular, but more-so, staking his claim amongst the top MC’s in Hip-Hop currently.
“When an emcee is in his or her ‘I’m the best’ bag, they’re usually dissing everyone and no one at the same time,” he wrote. “It’s a part of the motif for most emcees. The lines are usually open-ended and can apply to any other rapper. Unless it’s a specific reference.”
Though Punch’s commentary certainly sheds some much-needed light on the murky conversation surrounding Soul and his release, its understandable why fans have jumped to conclusions about the meaning of the lyrics on the single. Especially when considering Cole’s recent release “Port Of Antonio” which captures him addressing his decision not to engage in a rap beef with Kendrick, despite declaring he still has fire in his pen.
Check out the post above to see the full details of the fan theory and see the lyrics that caused the frenzy in the first place.
Universal Music Group and Motown Records sought sanctions against Tyrone Blackburn, the attorney behind Lil Rod’s lawsuit against Diddy, at a hearing on Wednesday (October 16). UMG and Motown’s lawyers told a judge Blackburn needed to be sanctioned to stop others from filing “baseless” claims against the labels.
Blackburn warned the labels about getting ahead of themselves at the hearing. He suggested their executives may get named in a superseding indictment of Diddy.
“I would be really slow to spike the football,” Blackburn declared, per Courthouse News.
Lil Rod sued Diddy for sexual assault, among other allegations, in February. UMG CEO Lucian Grainge and Motown CEO Ethiopia Habtemariam were named as defendants in the lawsuit. Lil Rod, whose real name is Rodney Jones, implicated the executives in Diddy’s racketeering enterprise.
Diddy was indicted for racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution in September. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecutors hinted at filing more charges on October 10. Blackburn said he was meeting with the prosecution for a 10th time for what he believed would be a superseding indictment.
UMG and Motown’s lawyers pursued sanctions against Blackburn before Diddy was indicted. Attorneys claimed Lil Rod’s allegations regarding Grainge and the labels were “objectively false” in May.
“The facts here compellingly cry out for sanctions,” the lawyers argued. “Not only is Blackburn’s conduct part of a consistent pattern of behavior, but he has used the outrageous allegations he pleads to self-promote on social media … Sir Lucian Grainge has had his reputation sullied by absolutely false accusations, which Plaintiff and Blackburn either knew were false or simply did not care whether they were true or false.”
Diddy has remained in jail since his arrest. He was denied bail but filed an appeal. His trial is scheduled to begin in May 2025.

Fat Joe recognized why many celebrities avoid endorsing political candidates. The Terror Squad rapper said he doesn’t knock public figures who stay silent while discussing his decision to become more involved in politics on the Club Shay Shay podcast.
“I don’t blame ‘em,” Fat Joe told host Shannon Sharpe. “It’s hard for a celebrity. I never understood why celebrities never speak their mind, but now I do. Because you alienate—you know the minute I go, ‘I’m for Kamala Harris,’ everybody who loves Trump is like, ‘F### you Fat Joe’ … It’s real like that. And vice versa. If you for Trump, we hate you.”
Fat Joe took an active interest in politics to fight for price transparency in the U.S. healthcare system. He became an ambassador for the nonprofit Power to the Patients in 2021.
“I became a big voice for that, which has been a hard thing to do,” he said. “Because we keep going to Washington and trying to get it done and it’s been the hardest thing. It’s been one of the biggest challenges of my life, but I love it. When I walk through the airport, random people come up to me and say, ‘Yo, Joe, thank you [for] what you doing.’ And I’m like thinking about music or whatever. He’s like, ‘Nah, man. The biggest thing you doing is fighting for the people with the healthcare price transparency.’ So, I’m proud of what I’m doing.”
Fat Joe vowed to push for healthcare price transparency no matter who wins the election, but he has thrown his support behind Vice President Harris. Earlier this year, he assured fans he wasn’t voting for Trump after acquiring a pair of the former president’s gold “Never Surrender” sneakers. Fat Joe said he only got the shoes because he’s a sneaker collector.
Tyler, the Creator released a brief song and music video titled “St. Chroma” on Wednesday (October 16). The video included a teaser for Chromakopia, which is speculated to be his next album.
“St. Chroma” featured whispered raps and soulful vocals. The video showed a masked man – presumably Tyler, the Creator – leading a group of marchers in a deserted area. The visuals concluded with a huge explosion as the screen changed from black-and-white to color.
Fans assumed “St. Chroma” was beginning the rollout for Tyler’s Chromakopia. He hasn’t released a studio album since 2021’s Call Me If You Get Lost.
Tyler dropped the teaser roughly a week after complaining about fans constantly demanding a new album. He shared his feelings in reaction to his collaborator Steve Lacy voicing the same frustrations on social media.
”I feel you s### is annoying,” Tyler wrote to Lacy. “Especially when I never said out my mouth that an album is coming. I wanna be an actress lmfao.”
Tyler will fulfill his acting dream as he recently landed his first feature film role. The acclaimed rapper/producer will appear in the upcoming A24-produced movie Marty Supreme starring Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow. Uncut Gems filmmaker Josh Safdie is directing the film.
Aoki Lee Simmons, the daughter of Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee Simmons, is speaking out on behalf of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ children, calling for the siblings to be treated with love and respect amid their father’s mounting legal woes.
As the daughter of famous parents, Simmons understands what it’s like to be under the spotlight when they’re in the news. During a recent Instagram Live, Simmons called for the Combs children to be treated with love and respect.
“I think his daughters and children are such wonderful people,” she replied when a person in the chat asked her thoughts on Diddy’s case. “I really hope you guys treat them with love and respect, ’cuz they’re nice kids.”
Simmons continued, noting that children shouldn’t be blamed for their parents’ actions.
“It’s not their fault,” she added. “Anything adults, that’s adult business and they are not adults.
Referring to Diddy’s children as “My little cousins” she added, “They are in school. They are not adults so please treat them like children. That’s all I ask.”
Six of Diddy’s seven children supported their father at his latest court appearance. Footage showed siblings Quincy Brown, 33, Justin Combs, 30, Christian Combs, 26, Chance Combs, 18, and twins Jessie and D’Lila Combs, 17, walking into court alongside their grandmother Janice Combs.
Earlier this week, Diddy wished his daughter a happy birthday on social media, posting for the first time since his September 2024 arrest.
“Happy Birthday to you!” he wrote alongside several photos of the little girl.
DJ Clark Kent was the victim of a death rumor that started making the rounds on social media Tuesday night (October 15). Fans and media began picking up the narrative that the iconic DJ, producer and renowned sneaker head had passed away following an undisclosed illness.
But according to DJ Scratch, Clark Kent is very much alive, although it’s unclear what his medical situation is. On Wednesday (October 16), the EPMD legend took to Instagram to clear up the vicious rumor. He wrote in all caps, “DJ CLARK KENT HAS NOT PASSED AWAY,” he wrote. “STOP TRAUMATIZING HIS FAMILY POSTING THAT HE PASSED!!”
Veteran radio personality Angie Martinez later confirmed DJ Clark Kent was at home—not in hospice like others suggested.
“The article that The Source Mag & others have posted about the passing of Dj Clark Kent is false,” she tweeted. “Clark is home with his family. Please refrain from sharing any other false information. It is hurtful, deeply irresponsible and untrue.”
The article that The Source Mag & others have posted about the passing of Dj Clark Kent is false. Clark is home with his family. Please refrain from sharing any other false information. It is hurtful, deeply irresponsible and untrue.
Fans of DJ Clark Kent were noticeably upset by the notion he was dead. Tweets like, “There’s news going around stating that the legendary DJ Clark Kent has passed away, well that news is extremely fake and it’s disgusting to create a hoax like that” and “I’m not the biggest fan of DJ Clark Kent or his music takes, but lying on the man’s name with a death hoax is some Ho ass bag of sow m##### behavior. Whoever’s responsible needs their a#### whipped ROYALLY. F y’all.”
Others took a more remorseful approach and simply apologized for spreading misinformation.

Nicki Minaj scored a historic win at the BET Hip Hop Awards, taking home Hip Hop Album of the Year for Pink Friday 2, but her reaction was anything but celebratory.
The awards show was recorded on October 8 but aired on Tuesday (October 15). Nicki Minaj scooped a major victory in a category hotly contested by 21 Savage, Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla and Drake.
The win marked the first time a solo female artist has won Album of the Year in BET Hip Hop Awards history.
However, Nicki Minaj was clearly unimpressed. She shared her reaction to the award on Twitter (X), posting one of her much-loved memes featuring Chucky from the solo Child’s Play franchise biting on a woman’s arm.
Nicki Minaj has a complicated history with the BET Hip Hop Awards. After going on an astonishing run and winning the BET Award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist for seven consecutive years from 2010 through 2016, everything changed just a few years later.
Nicki Minaj Cancels BET Performance Over Cardi B Shade
In February 2019, Minaj abruptly canceled her performance at the BET Experience music festival. She announced neither she nor the rest of Young Money would perform in response to BET’s shady tweet celebrating rival Cardi B’s Grammys win.
“Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront,” the tweet read. Although the network later deleted the post, the damage was done.
“Young Money will no longer be apart of the BET Experience or award show,” she tweeted. “Summer Tour dates dropping soon.”
Then, several months later, Nicki Minaj called out BET, reacting to a tweet claiming the 2019 BET Awards Show drew just 2 million viewers. She said the BET Awards would “rather be a messy reality show than a prestigious award show.” She also referenced the network’s since-deleted Cardi B tweet. “Ur still being dragged by that lace,” she added.
When u go out of ur way to b spiteful & hurt artists who have always supported ur show… when you fire great ppl who have put their heart & soul into the show… when you’d rather be a messy reality show than a prestigious award show… when ur still being dragged by that lace https://t.co/DOYKmgAlyr
Beyoncé has announced her 2024 Woman of the Year (WOTY), with more than three months to go before the year-end.
While the 43-year-old global sensation never shies away from giving other women their flowers, this year, Beyoncé is feeling braggadocios, giving herself a part on the back and claiming the WOTY title for herself.
On Tuesday evening (October 15), Beyoncé shared ” My WOTY” with her 314 million Instagram photos, posting a carousel of images of herself.
Despite her previous beef with The BeyHive, Erykah Badu showed love to Beyoncé in the comment section. “Go off got damn it then,” she noted, while SZA added, “Fit is fire.”
Beyoncé’s sister Solange also expressed her approval at the title, writing, “EXACTLY SIS !”
2024 has been a hugely successful year for Beyoncé, making history and breaking down barriers with her Cowboy Carter album.
“Texas Hold ‘Em,” topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 10 consecutive weeks, marking the second longest-running No. 1 hit of 2024 and becoming the first Black woman to ever do so.
Cowboy Carter was equally impactful, leading Billboard’s country album chart for four weeks. Again, this marked the first time a Black woman achieved the feat.
While the CMAs snubbed Beyoncé, failing to give her a single nomination despite her historic accomplishments, other award shows recognized the feat. Beyoncé was the second most-nominated artist at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, with 12 nods.
iHeartRadio honored Bey with the prestigious Innovator Award, presented by Stevie Wonder.
“Beyoncé is once again changing music and culture,” the music legend said of her album. “And when she’s not changing music, she’s changing the world, fighting the good fight.”
Beyond music, Beyoncé’s business acumen also shone in 2024. She launched the Award-winning SIRDavis whiskey brand and her Cécred haircare line. She also permitted Vice President Kamala Harris to use her single “Freedom” in her campaign to be the first woman U.S. President.
While she crowned herself the 2024 WOTY, Beyoncé shared her admiration for her female peers during a recent interview.
“I love and respect all of the female singers-songwriters who are out right now,” she revealed last month, naming Doechii and GloRilla as two rappers she loves. Raye, Victoria Monét, Sasha Keable, Chloe x Halle, and Reneé Rapp also got a mention as did Sabrina Carpenter, Thee Sacred Souls and Chappell Roan.
JAY-Z and Roc Nation’s deal with the NFL to produce the Super Bowl Halftime Show will continue, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has confirmed.
Goodell addressed the partnership during the NFL annual owners meeting in Atlanta on Tuesday (October 15), per Bloomberg.
The NFL Commissioner said his relationship with JAY-Z, Roc Nation and its chief executive officer, Desiree Perez, has been “mutually positive,” and that all parties are content.
“I’m not sure either one of us really spend much time talking about contracts,” Goodell added. “Jay is happy. Desiree Perez is happy. I’m happy, so we’re all good.”
While the previous five-year deal, signed in 2019, was worth $25 million, according to ESPN, the terms of the new contract have not been publicized.
JAY-Z and Roc Nation’s involvement in the Super Bowl Halftime View has led to a dramatic uptick in viewership.
The 2022 Halftime Show in Las Angeles, featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige, drew an audience of 103.4 million viewers—up from the 96.7 million viewers who tuned in the previous year.
Meanwhile, Rihanna’s 2023 performance was one of the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime shows of all time, amassing 118.7 million viewers.
Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans following a year in which he dominated the Hip-Hop conversation. The decision proved controversial, with passionate support for Lil Wayne to perform in his hometown. Hov faced criticism over the selection, although his defenders claimed it was not his decision.
However, Super Bowl Halftime Show 2025 producer Jesse Collins seemingly confirmed that JAY-Z has the final say.
NFL team owners voted for Atlanta to host the Super Bowl in 2028, marking the fourth time the Big Game is played at the home of the Falcons.
Rick Ross recently debuted his new girlfriend, and the haters are already predicting the end of their romance.
Earlier this week, Rozay’s new girlfriend, Justice Williams, posted her man on Instagram, showing off the diamond necklace he bought her. The new couple appeared to have been joined at the hip since, enjoying dates at the zoo and lounging poolside at Ross’ Promise Land mansion.
On Tuesday (October 15), Williams hopped on Instagram Live, where she faced some negative comments.
“Let me explain something to y’all,” she replied to trolls in the chat. “There’s nothing wrong with being something of your own, but also coming into a different territory of a completely different bracket.”
After claiming “God” and “divine timing” placed her in this position, Williams insisted she would never “change for anyone for anything for any clout,” before alluding to Rozay’s past relationships.
Rick Ross’ New Girlfriend Believes They Will Outlast Haters Predictions
“I would be crazy to judge a person based on who a person was to someone else. That’s not me. I’m not judging no one based on their past relations ‘cuz I know everybody is not replaceable,’ she continued, “It takes the right person. A person can change someone, okay. Let’s be very clear.”
Williams added, “If he wants to, he will, if he doesn’t, he won’t,” before beating on her chest saying, “‘Cuz me … I’m protected. I can’t protect what’s going to happen, though. It’s what God says.”
She then responded to the doubters in the chat who said the romance won’t last.
“Like y’all said, if I’m here for 30, 60, 90 days, then so be it,” Williams said. “But when I’m here past 30, 60, 90 days, I want everybody to go buy me some type of electronic. Y’all owe me.”
Williams urged viewers to “mind your business, enjoy life,” and stop worrying about others. She said that sitting on the internet all day obsessing over the lives of others says a lot about a person’s character. “You’re insane,” she added. You’re crazy like you’re miserable.”
Meanwhile, like Williams, Rick Ross’ former girlfriend, Cristina Mackey, recently claimed God placed her with the rapper as part of a divine plan.
Safaree and Erica Mena’s custody drama just got even messier after the reality TV star put her ex-husband on blast for allegedly leaking court documents and rarely seeing his children.
On Tuesday (October 14), In Touch reported that Safaree petitioned to lower his child support payments in June 2023. He claimed he could no longer afford the $4,305 monthly payment agreed in the 2022 divorce settlement. Per the court documents, the arrangement was based on his $61,157 monthly income and Mena’s monthly earnings of $41,289.
However, Safaree claims there has since been a “significant change” to the shared custody arrangement. In his filing, Safaree claimed he no longer earns $61,000 monthly as “he is no longer a full- time talent on Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta.”
Further, his lawyers argued Safaree suffered a “significant loss of income” because of Erica Mena, accusing his ex-wife of a six-month-long “extensive public disparagement campaign against” him on social media.
In his filing, Safaree claimed Mena publicly referred to him as a “deadbeat” and “attacked his parenting skills without reason.” He also claimed she harassed potential co-workers with false allegations against him and has turned his largely female fanbase against him with her claims.
Safaree claims Mena’s actions led to a drop in income while Mena’s earnings have increased. He requested that she pay his legal fees.
Additionally, Safaree’s lawyers claimed he had the children for more than the prescribed 12 days, stating he’s had the children in “his physical custody on average 3-4 weeks consistently during his time.”
Erica Mena Claps Back At Safaree
However, Erica Mena fired back with a calendar alleging Safaree only saw his children on 16 occasions this year.
“Mom is yellow. “Dad” is orange,” she captioned her since-deleted post shared by The Neighborhood Talk.

He also scored wins for his appearance on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” besting the competitors in the Best Collaboration and Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse categories.
Unsurprisingly Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like That” won Impact Song of the Year. The track etched a place in the record books with an unprecedented 22nd week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart.
Kendrick Lamar Rumored To Be Working On New Album

According to Lamar collaborator and TDE affiliate Devin Malik, K. Dot is crafting the follow-up to 2022’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. He recently tweeted a clip of him and Dot at the Ken & Friends concert in June. “Mood cause new k dot album otwwww,” he wrote, ramping up anticipation for the potential project.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing disturbing claims in a new lawsuit from a woman claiming the embattled mogul violated her with a TV remote before he and his associates brutally gang-raped her because she implied the Bad Boy Records founder was involved in the murder of Tupac Shakur.
TMZ reports a woman named Ashley Parham claims she was introduced to Diddy in 2018 over a FaceTime call by a man she met at the bar. She was unimpressed by the famous rapper and accused him of involvement in Tupac’s death.
Parham alleged Diddy told her she would “pay” for her remarks and followed through with his threat a month later after their mutual acquaintance invited her to his home in Orinda, California.
Parham recalled a horrific encounter, which she claims began with Diddy holding a knife to her face and threatening to cut her face in a “Glasgow smile” in retaliation for her remarks about Tupac’s murder.
She claimed Combs Enterprises chief of staff Kristina Khorram, who Diddy once referred to as his “right hand,” was present and told her boss not to cut Parham because they could potentially “sell” her to clients for sex before threatening to have her sent overseas where her family would never find her.
Parham says Diddy then removed her clothes at knifepoint, and smothered her with an unknown liquid substance before violently sexually assaulting her with a TV remote.
Parham claims the attack escalated from there, with Diddy threatening her life. He then subjected her to a vicious a### rape and summoned two other men who also anally raped her. She also accused a fourth man of vaginal rape.
After the alleged assaults, Parham claimed her attackers, including Diddy, went outside to smoke. She then made her escape, grabbing a knife, but had to pass Diddy to exit the property.
He allegedly told Parham he had given her “enough drugs to take out a horse” and was shocked to see her walking. He also made a lewd comment about the alleged rape before offering her hush money to say she consented to everything.
When she refused and told Diddy she would report the attack to the police, Parham claims Diddy told her nobody would believe her claims and threatened to harm her family if she went to the authorities. She claimed one of Diddy’s associates showed her a phone displaying what seemed to be a live video feed from outside her sister’s house.
Diddy allegedly referenced Tupac’s murder, telling Parham he’d gotten away with bigger crimes and even called his mother, Janice Combs, to convince Parham not to report her son.
Parham claims she chased Diddy with the knife she took from the home but took mercy on him when he pleaded for his life. She then fled for the exit, but Diddy caught up with her and she lunged at him with the knife, grazing his stomach.
She escaped and got help from a neighbor who called the police. Parham claims she reported the incident to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department, Walnut Creek Police and the Orinda Police Department but was told no law enforcement agency had an active investigation in response to her reports.
Diddy is currently being held without bond at the Metropolitan Detention Center until his racketeering trial, which is slated for May 5, 2025.
His attorneys have not yet responded to Parham’s allegations. However, they claimed the case against Diddy “is rapidly becoming a media circus,” in a new filing Tuesday (October 15). Diddy’s legal team pointed to Tony Buzbee’s plans to file over 100 new lawsuits, six of which were filed this week.
“With each new anonymous accuser, Mr. Combs is being forced to defend his entire sexual history rather than specific, actionable claims. This undermines his right to a fair trial.”
Parham is not one of Buzbee’s clients. She is reportedly represented by Ariel Mitchell and Shawn Perez.
