A Day in the Life of 44 Toronto’s Nightlife Visionaries

Going out to clubs has emerged as many people’s preferred leisure activity, particularly on weekends. The dynamic ambiance, music, and laid-back atmosphere at clubs have contributed to the increase in many cities’ nightlife. From the many ups and downs people encounter throughout the week, they find a way to find pleasure and reconnect with their true selves by going out. This has seen an increase in the nightlife of many cities, with the opening of many new nightclubs. However, for clubs to establish themselves, they must offer services that help them maintain a competitive lead.

44 Toronto is one of Canada’s number-one nightclubs with the ultimate nightlife experience. The luxurious nightclub has changed Toronto’s nightlife scene. With an appeal that welcomes everyone, it has also attracted a glitzy clientele. 44 Toronto has become a one-stop nightclub that has welcomed many renowned celebrities. The two-floor lounge has an incredible ambiance, intimate space, and a state-of-the-art sound system. Also, it has an unmatched lighting system with over four hundred light fixtures shared solely by only two clubs in the world.

Before the establishment of 44 Toronto, Toronto’s club culture was more underground. The nightclub’s founders, Wyatt Booth, and Aiden Booth, wanted to change this and add more to Toronto’s nightlife. They have worked around the clock to see it become one of the most highly acclaimed and sought-after nightclubs. As a result, the club received the “Nightclub of the Year” award, and its grand opening party in Toronto was recognized as the “Party of the Year.”

However, the founders revealed that they have had to go through so much behind the scenes to make 44 Toronto the success it is today. According to the Booth brothers, breaking into the industry was their biggest hurdle. For a nightclub to remain vibrant, you need to hire dynamic performing artists to attract a vast audience, which the Booths initially struggled with. “We found it challenging to book talent and make those industry connections initially,” they attest.

Additionally, 44 Toronto needed more space to host its patrons. No one wants to attend a crowded nightclub, and working in a smaller area to make everyone comfortable was a challenge. However, the Booth brothers maximized their limited space and succeeded in hosting major events.

To set themselves apart from other nightclubs, the founders emphasize customer-centric services. To the Booth brothers, their goal with 44 Toronto is to create a personal connection with everyone who visits the club to have a celebrity experience. “The quality of the club is so high that celebrities quickly found it as the spot to be in Toronto. Our intimate space allows for customers to be up close and personal with some of their favorite celebrities,” says Wyatt.

“The secret behind thriving in the nightlife industry is being passionate about bringing a unique experience to the city around you. Nightlife is a full-time commitment, and only the passionate can pull through,” asserts Wyatt and Aiden. They advise people aspiring to join the industry to prepare for the late nights and colossal workload involved in nightclub operations. They believe hard work and unrelenting passion are critical anchors for success in the industry.

Wyatt and Aiden Booth are confident 44 Toronto will continue as Toronto’s leading nightclub and have put all the mechanisms in place to offer even more incredible services to their patrons. Their ultimate goal is to expand their hospitality portfolio to new clients and venues within their city and new markets. “We’re always looking for ways to push the envelope and innovate,” the Booth brothers add. “That’s how we’ve successfully brought to life the experience that was missing from Toronto’s underground nightlife scene.”

Ice Spice Scorches The Internet In Her Underwear

Bronx bombshell Ice Spice is the hottest thing around and so it is no surprise that when Kim Kardashian was looking for a pop influencer to model her new line of undergarments, she tapped the “Gangsta Boo” chart-topper.

On Monday, Kardashian announced on Thursday, April 27, she will launch her largest shapewear design collection since she and Kanye created the brand in 2019.

The campaign will not only include rap music’s favorite ginger, but also PinkPantheress, Nessa Barrett, and RAYE.

Kardashian said in a press release, “I’m excited to launch this next generation of Skims shapewear with a campaign that celebrates these incredible musical artists.”

She also said they were selected because they are “super talented women and truly reflect our Skims community.”

Ice Spice also seems excited to get the call to rep the brand, saying it is company that “gets it.

“Skims just gets it,” she said in the press release. “And makes me feel extra snatched,” before adding, “I’m happy to be a part of the latest campaign.”

This is not the only brand the current “It Girl” has been asked to endorse. AllHipHop.com reported she recently was tapped by Beyoncé to help push the latest capstone of her IVY Park brand.

Harry Belafonte—Famed Singer & Producer Of Hip-Hop’s Seminal Film “Beat Street”—Has Died

Harry Belafonte reportedly died of congestive heart failure on Tuesday (April 25). He was 96. Following the groundbreaking success of Belafonte’s 1956 hit “The Banana Boat Song (Day-O),” he became known as the “King of Calypso.” But in 1984, when Belafonte’s singing and acting careers were already well established, he made an indelible mark on Hip-Hop, producing the genre’s seminal film, Beat Street.

The film was inspired by an original story called “The Perfect Beat” written by journalist Steven Hager, who sold the idea to Belafonte. Some of the plot was based on the 1983 New York City graffiti documentary, Style Wars. Afrika Bambaataa, the Soulsonic Force, Jazzy Jay, Kool Herc, Doug E. Fresh and Crazy Legs were among the many Hip-Hop legends who appeared in the film.

“When we were filming Beat Street, he had a ring with the initials ‘L.M.,'” Crazy Legs told AllHipHop in 2015. “Being the ignorant person that I was, I said [to Harry that means] ‘Love Money.’ And he told me ‘No, Love Many.’ It always stuck with me.”

Belafonte was an early supporter of the Civil Rights movement and became well known for his activism throughout his life. Last March, Q-Tip, Doug E. Fresh, John Legend, Danny Glover and Reverend Al Sharpton attended Belafonte’s 95th birthday during the inaugural Harry Belafonte Social Justice Awards ceremony. Belafonte’s work as a political activist was recognized with musical performances and video tributes. Additional testimonials by politicians, racial justice leaders, elected officials and musicians about his impact were also shared at the event.

Despite Belafonte’s death, he will live on through the music he created—even rap. In 2011, Lil Wayne sampled “The Banana Boat Song (Day-O)” for “6 Foot, 7 Foot” off Tha Carter IV. The song introduced a new legion of fans to Belafonte’s music.

“It’s not my song,” he said at the time. It’s a song that belongs to millions of people in the Caribbean,” he said. “An ancient work song that people, of which my family was one of them, [who] were plantation workers … sang in the day and they sang in the night. They sang every opportunity they could get to throw off the burdens of poverty, and therefore the song has great significance.

“I’m just glad to see that the younger generations have picked it up and are carrying the song forward in their own way, just like I picked it up in my time.”

Tributes for Belafonte are pouring in on social media. AllHipHop sends our condolences to Belfonte’s family and all those who loved him.

Grimes Bucks The Trend- Lets A.I. Clone Her Voice With No Penalties

Grimes, hip-hop news,

Grimes has approved of her voice being used in artificial intelligence-based music.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday night, Grimes (real name Claire Elise Boucher) weighed in on the increased use of artificial intelligence (AI) software in music creation.

While praising AI artists, the Oblivion singer gave her blessing for musicians to use her voice in an AI-based work if they divvied the royalties.

“I’ll split 50 (percent) royalties on any successful AI generated song that uses my voice,” Grimes tweeted, sharing a headline on the fake Drake and fake The Weeknd song “Heart On My Sleeve.”

“Same deal as I would with any artist I collab with. Feel free to use my voice without penalty,” she said.

The 35-year-old concluded, “I have no label and no legal bindings.”

“Heart On My Sleeve” was created by TikTok user Ghostwriter977 using AI-generated replications of Drake and The Weeknd’s voices.

The song was uploaded to Spotify and Apple Music on 4 April this year – and shared on TikTok on 15 April, where it went viral.

“Ok hate this part but we may do copyright takedowns ONLY for rly rly toxic lyrics w grimes voice: imo you’d rly have to push it for me to wanna take smthn down but I guess plz don’t be the worst. as in, try not to exit the current Overton window of lyrical content w regards to sex/violence. Like no baby murder songs plz.

I think I’m Streisand effecting this now but I don’t wanna have to issue a takedown and be a hypocrite later. ***That’s the only rule. Rly don’t like to do a rule but don’t wanna be responsible for a Nazi anthem unless it’s somehow in jest a la producers I guess.

Rly rly don’t like adding rules so I apologize but this is the only thing,” Grimes added.

‘After Hours’ Becomes The Weeknd’s Fifth Album To Spend 100 Weeks On The Billboard 200

According to Guinness World Records, The Weeknd is the most popular recording artist on the planet. The Canadian singer born Abel Tesfaye continues to rack up music industry accolades in America.

Tesfaye’s 2020 studio LP After Hours has spent 100 weeks on the Billboard 200 album chart. The Weeknd’s catalog now contains five projects that have appeared on the Billboard 200 at least 100 times.

2015’s Beauty Behind The Madness currently sits at 291 weeks. 2016’s Starboy is also closing in on the 300-week mark by remaining on the Billboard 200 for 285 weeks so far.

The Trilogy Compilation, from 2012, has clocked in 197 weeks on the Billboard 200. 2021’s The Highlights greatest hits album has totaled 114 weeks on the chart. 2022’s Dawn FM album boasts a 67-week count.

Throughout his career, The Weeknd scored four No. 1 albums. Starboy remained atop the Billboard 200 for five weeks. After Hours had a four-week reign. Beauty Behind The Madness led the rankings for three weeks.

The My Dear Melancholy EP hit No. 1 for one week in 2018. Kiss Land, The Weeknd’s debut studio LP, peaked at No. 2 ten years ago. The Highlights and Dawn FM also plateaued at No. 2.

Ari Melber Debuts IDK’s “Mr. Police” Video On MSNBC

Attorney-turned-news broadcaster Ari Melber often invites Hip Hop stars onto his MSNBC show. This week saw IDK make an appearance on Melber’s The Beat to premiere his new music video.

“IDK has a brand new protest song. It’s not in record stores or streaming services. In a first-ever for MSNBC, the song is debuting now on The Beat,” Ari Melber told his TV audience.

In addition, IDK appeared on set with Ari Melber to discuss his latest track and the mission behind his music. The Maryland-raised emcee sat next to political activist Reverend Mark Thompson.

“For me, putting this record together came very organically, but it was really talking about some of the things I’ve witnessed and seen,” explained IDK on the political program which airs every weekday.

The 30-year-old emcee continued, “Personally, I’ve come to a place where I don’t feel that way towards the police. But I know there are a lot of people here who still feel that way. This video is the reason why.”

This was not the first time IDK addressed social issues on mainstream television. In 2020, he incorporated images from #BlackLivesMatter protests into his “No Cable” performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

In addition to premiering the “Mr. Police” video on MSNBC, IDK also posted the visuals on his YouTube channel. The single will live on the forthcoming F65 album. That project will arrive on May 5 via Warner Records.

IDK’s discography already contains the studio LPs Is He Real (2019), USee4Yourself (2021), and Simple (2022). His self-released Sex, Drugs & Homework mixtape dropped in 2014. SubTrap came out fifteen months later.

AllHipHop.com highlighted IDK (formerly Jay IDK) as part of the #DMVOnTheMove series in 2016. One year earlier, the London-born entertainer also spoke to AllHipHop about his journey from serving jail time to becoming a recording artist on the rise.

Nick Cannon Places Nicki Minaj On His Female Rap Mount Rushmore, Leaves Off Lil Kim

Actor/rapper/comedian Nick Cannon once had a close business relationship with Lil Kim. His ex-wife Mariah Carey once clashed with Nicki Minaj. According to Cannon, only one of those female rappers makes his Top 3 rankings of all time.

The Bootleg Kev Podcast recently interviewed Nick Cannon to talk about his upcoming projects and his opinions on Hip Hop. At one point, the conversation turned to the topic of the greatest female rappers in history.

“Let’s not disrespect Nicki. Nicki is a GOAT, whatever her gender is,” said Nick Cannon after briefly suggesting Lil Kim ranks higher than the Queens emcee before backtracking on that take.

Cannon also stated, “The only person, to me, that has the same level of talent and that we should even be comparing [Nicki Minaj] to is Lauryn Hill… or Missy [Elliott]. Those three. That’s the Mount Rushmore.”

In 2021, Lil Kim revealed that Nick Cannon served as her manager. The two entertainers also worked together on VH1’s Miracle Across 125th Street television movie which came out later that same year. Cannon wrote and directed the film.

“Nick Cannon, people don’t even know, he’s one of my best friends. We’ve been best friends for years,” said Lil Kim. The Grammy winner added, “I really did that movie for Nick. It’s part of my next level, Nick is convincing me. You know, he’s my manager?”

R&B/Pop icon Mariah Carey married Nick Cannon in 2008. The couple parted ways in 2014, before finalizing their divorce in 2016. During that period of matrimony, Carey got into a highly publicized feud with fellow American Idol judge, Nicki Minaj, which included alleged threats of violence by Minaj.

Chuck D Recalls When 2Pac Beat Up A Thief To Prove Loyalty To Public Enemy

Chuck D has reflected on his relationship with Tupac, recalling a time when a young ‘Pac was willing to get his hands dirty to prove his loyalty.

During an appearance on Sway in the Morning earlier this year, the Public Enemy member shared a story from the 1990s about Tupac, who he called “little brother.” Chuck recalled Queen Latifah introducing him to Tupac, who he would later take on tour with him.

“She says, ‘Chuck, meet Young Treacherous.’ And we’re in Lafayette, Louisiana, I’m lookin’ at both of them, and I’m like, ‘okay.’ It’s 1990. These two cats — Treach, and ‘Pac, okay? … I felt so good for them,” Chuck D shared.

He continued with a “quick story” about a time Tupac joined Public Enemy at a show in Oklahoma City.

“Somebody went and stole stuff out of the backstage. I think they stole some equipment — a hat, whatever — and they found the dude. And they said, ‘Is this the dude?’ And ‘Pac said somebody told him that was the dude.”

According to Chuck D, Tupac found the thief and put hands on him. “‘Pac went upside this dude’s head. I said, ‘Yo, ‘Pac, it’s not that deep man,’” Chuck D stated. “But ‘Pac wanted to prove, ‘Listen, I’m ridin’ for y’all!’ Well, ‘Pac, we don’t want you to get arrested in OKC, man, it’s alright.”  Check out the interview at the end of the page.

Tupac and Chuck D enjoyed a long-standing relationship before the All Eyez On Me creator’s passing in 1996. Back in 2014, the “Fight The Power” rapper shared a letter that ‘Pac sent him from behind bars. In the 1995 letter Tupac expressed his respect for Chuck D and thanked him for his support. Timbaland Names His Rap Mount Rushmore, Warns Not To Disrespect Eminem

While Timbaland struggled to name his top 10 rappers of all time, he is sure about which artist’s faces grace the rap Mount Rushmore, but only if he can carve out a couple of additional spots.

The superproducer joined Brandon Marshall and Chef Danie in the first episode of I AM ATHLETE’s special series called “I Am Hip-Hop.” Timbaland opened the series created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop this year.

Timbo was asked for his Top. 10 all-time rappers list but left off some of rap’s heaviest hitters. When asked if he found the task impossible, Timbaland instead named his rap Mount Rushmore.

“Jay-Z is number one for me. Biggie, Jay and Nas are like The Three Musketeers,” he declared. However, although the National Memorial sculpture features four presidential faces, Timbaland needed space for two more legends.

“And Tupac,” he said before adding,” I would say, if we had to make Mount Rushmore I would have to put five. Because I had to put Jay-Z, Biggie, Tupac, Nas, damn…we gotta put six. Snoop Dogg, let’s not forget, and Eminem.”

The host pointed out the Detroit icon often gets overlooked, stating, “A lot of people disrespect Eminem though.” Timbaland shot that down immediately.

“You better not,” he repeated emphatically. “He took Hip-Hop and made a story. It’s what people do with the word ‘Hip-Hop’ and how you interpret it. So, these people that I’m naming changed my life to get me to where I’m today. To make me love music even more.” Check out the clip below and watch the episode at the end of the page.

Nelly & Ashanti Fuel Rekindled Romance Rumors With Steamy Performance

Nelly and Ashanti had the internet in a spin when they popped out together to watch the Garcia vs. Davis boxing match in Las Vegas over the weekend and were spotted leaving hand in hand.

The former couple ended their decade-long romance in 2014 and ever since many of their fans have longed for them to reconcile. Their latest outings have left many wondering if the pair are back together.

After their appearance at the boxing, Nelly and Ashanti reunited again at TAO Beach Dayclub in Vegas. The duo performed their 2008 Akon-assisted hit “Body On Me” and did nothing to squash the speculation. Their chemistry was still in full view as Ashanti “put that body” on Nelly before he playfully slapped his former love on her derriere. Check out the clip below.

While the comments section of every social media post of their steamy dance was littered with calls for Nelly and Ashanti to reunite, it wasn’t just the fans who had something to say about it.

Bow Wow commented on a post of the pair holding hands after the fight, urging Nelly to pop the question.

“Yo, Mo! I know [we’re] not seeing eye to eye either really but from lil bro to big bro, STOP PLAYING AND MARRY THIS WOMAN, BRO,” wrote Bow Wow in The Shade Room‘s comment section. He also added, “[You’re] like 50 😂. Sit your old ass down 😂😂😂😂😂 This [is] your queen.”

Meanwhile, 50 Cent used the opportunity to have a dig at long standing rival Irv Gotti. The Murder Inc. Founder put Ashanti on blast last year, airing out their alleged romantic past and claiming the singer broke his heart when she started dating Nelly.

“HE WILL BE AIGHT,” 50 Cent wrote on Instagram. “I was in love wit her, and she just popped up with Nelly. LOL.”

Last year, Ashanti said she and Nelly are “cool now” after a similar steamy dance had tongues wagging.

“Oh my gosh. I saw a lot of comments,” Ashanti said. “I mean, my reaction was, wow. It was a lot of comments and a lot of people wanting that. What I will say is we’re in a better place. … We’re cool now. We had some conversations. So, it’s cool.”

Rick Ross Offers Don Lemon WingStop Job After CNN Termination

Rick Ross is living up to his Biggest Boss title, offering some career advice to former CNN anchor Don Lemon following his recent termination after 17 years at the network.

After the news broke, the MMG honcho took to Instagram to share his shock and to offer the job.

“I just found out Don Lemon was terminated from CNN. Damn, Don. But guess what? A brother’s got your back!”,” Rozay stated.

However, Don Lemon is unlikely to be thrilled by Rick Ross’s offer of assistance. “We’re hiring at WingStop,” he continued. “And for some reason, I believe you know what you’re doing with them LEMON pepper wings. So, man just send over your resume. 17 years, damn. But, I’m gonna make sure I get you in front of the right grill, brother. Stay solid, brother.” Check out the clip below.

Don Lemon Reacts To CNN Termination

Don Lemon shared a statement on Monday sharing his dismay at the decision and how he was informed.

“I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play,” he declared. “With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”

CNN CEO Chris Licht also shared a memo to his staff: “Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors. CNN This Morning has been on the air for nearly six months, and we are committed to its success.”

Meanwhile, the broadcasting company disputed Don Lemon’s version of events, insisting he was offered a meeting with management.

“Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate,” a tweet shared from CNN’s communications Twitter account read. “He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

Rick Ross wasn’t the only person to chime on on Don Lemon’s termination. Donald Trump also had a lot to say. Read about it here at AllHipHop.com.

Angel Reese Says Two Major Rappers Slid In Her DMs

Future and Drake.

Jeez Louis! The superstars of women’s college basketball are talking that talk. I am talking about Angel Reese and Flau’jae! They are 20 and 19 respectfully. Well, they are peak black young ladies, clearly rising to the top as super stars. Flau’jae is a rapper that can really rap. I am pretty sure Angel Reese is destined for the pros. But for now, they are college “kids.”

Drake and Future are…grown.

Drake will be 40 this year and Drake ain’t too far behind. him. Both men reportedly slide in the DMs of these young and gave them their respect. There was a bit of a moment where Envy said something about Drake’s court and she seemed to blush,

But is there something more nefarious going on!? Not necessarily. Watch the clip and I will expound.

Cam’ron Delivers Message After Apparent Dig From Jim Jones

Cam’ron seemingly took offense to fellow Dipset member Jim Jones’ remarks from an April 21 interview.

Killa Cam issued a message to his haters via Instagram on Monday (April 24). Cam’ron appeared to reference comments made by Jim Jones, who spoke about Cam and Ma$e on an episode of The Breakfast Club.

“Anybody who says “I can’t hate’ really wants to ‘hate,’” Cam’ron’s message read with credit given to Duke Da God.

Cam’ron shared his thoughts a few days after his longtime collaborator discussed Cam and Ma$e’s sports talk show It Is What It Is. Jim Jones didn’t explicitly diss Cam’ron when asked about the show, but the answer apparently didn’t strike the right tone.

“They’re definitely very funny,” Jim Jones said. “They’ve always been a group of comedians. I can’t take that away from them. And they’re very knowledgeable about basketball … Cam definitely had a chance to go to the NBA. I can’t say that with no hate in my heart.”

Earlier in the interview, Jim Jones expressed his contempt for Ma$e.

“I don’t care about Ma$e,” he said. “I don’t care for Ma$e too much. Ya heard? Tell Ma$e go say some prayers. Word up, ya heard? Might deck Ma—let me stop.”

Cam’ron and Jim Jones spent time as friends and foes during their careers. Cam also beefed with Ma$e at times, but the two currently work together on It Is What It Is.

SZA Soars: TDE Singer Lands Her First No. 1 Hit On Billboard Hot 100

SZA reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time in her career.

The Top Dawg Entertainment artist’s single “Kill Bill” went from No. 4 to No. 1 on the latest Hot 100 chart. The track’s previous peak was No. 2.

“Kill Bill” made the jump following the release of a remix featuring Doja Cat. SZA’s song racked up 28.3 million streams and 5,000 downloads in its chart-topping week.

TDE executive Terrence “Punch” Henderson celebrated the accomplishment on Monday (April 24). He thanked fans and congratulated SZA.

“Great work,” Punch wrote via Twitter. “Appreciate everyone who supported this record so far. SZA you got you one. Congrats!”

The original version of “Kill Bill” appeared on SZA’s sophomore album SOS, which dropped in December 2022. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

SZA released the Doja Cat-assisted “Kill Bill” remix on April 14. The two previously collaborated on the Grammy-winning single “Kiss Me More.”

“Kill Bill” entered the Hot 100 at No. 3 in December 2022. It spent eight consecutive weeks at No. 2.

The single spent the second-most weeks at No. 2 before making it to No. 1. Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” holds the record for most weeks with nine.

Are Lil Meech & Summer Walker Dating?

Summer.

Meech.

Summertime is around the corner. And it’s looking like it is going to be a scorcher. There is a hot rumor and it is gaining some serious legs. You could say it was walking, like a really serious walker! Summer Walker, and Lil Meech are allegedly dating each other.

According to rumors, and Internet detectives, they are seeing each other. They have allegedly left very small, very clear breadcrumbs around the Internet.

Honestly, who cares! WE DO!

I am looking at the Internet and most people do not like this relationship and they care. They are putting two and two together in a way that only the CIA or the FBI could do. But, do people want to see them together? No!

Not that it’s any of our business, but most people feel that this is a toxicity overload, and nobody really wants to see them go downhill. The reality is is though, they have looked at pictures and analyzed them too, and amazing level. They are looking at reflections in sunglasses, phones, the shadow in a car. Or the Lamborghini, that they both allegedly were in no to make these conclusions.

And that is crazy! By the way, I do not know if this mattes, but she is four years older than him, 27 and 23 respectfully.

Check this! But you have to look close or go directly to twitter.

“Snowfall” Spinoff Looks Inevitable, What Becomes Of Franklin Saint?

Snowfall.

Franklin.

Now you guys have gotten your fill of “Snowfall.” The show, which concluded last week, set off an inferno of commentary from these digital streets. It was absolutely magical, how they captivated the audience with the tale of Franklin Saint. Franklin came to an unfortunate ending. If you don’t know by now, you better stop reading immediately.

First of all, what do you guys think ended up being Franklin’s fate? Personally, I believe he ended up an alcoholic that succumbed to the weight of his own dreams and capitalistic maxims. A lot of people, at least some that I saw, believe he was also a drug addict. Although he looked terrible, there is nothing that suggests that he was an actual bass head. Quite the contrary, according to what was visually seen in the show, he drank ad nauseam in the show and when goes directly to the liquor store when he was given $20.

But, here is why we are talking right now. There is a spinoff of the hit show in the works right now. And it follows his best friend, Leon and his wife, ironically, who used to be a crackhead. if you remember, Franklin made fun of Wanda when he was going on in a rant. Wanda, played by Gail Bean, is supposedly the lead character in the spinoff series. Her story begins where “Snowfall” ends, basically, at the end of the crack era.

What does this mean?

This also means it begins at the beginning of gangsta rap. Bloods and Crips! Are you might remember in the series finale they had a nod to John Singleton, who was filming his seminal, classic “Boyz-N-Tha- Hood.” That means Ice Cube’s somewhere in there!

At any rate, there is no release date for this show in development, but you can best believe they are going to do an amazing job. Period, also, I personally believe that they did not make Franklin a drug attic, because he will somehow find a way back into the franchise. They had to leave that door, at least a jar for something else to happen. For example, I believe Franklin‘s post drug king pin days warrant a movie of some sort. The creators can discuss the struggles and the trials and tribulations of someone that experienced the highest of highs in the drug game, but now must deal with the sobering reality of normal life. And what does that look like?

All of the drug dealer stories that we watched, typically end in total destruction or death. I believe that the ending of snowfall was very, very realistic. Almost anticlimactic. We wanted him to win, for some deranged reason – mainly because he was a Black man trying to escape his conditions. But at the same time, we realize that he had evolved into a complete monster, pushed into the beast of this high stakes “game.” And that sort of human being is not permitted to end well.

Anyway, what do you guys think? And are you excited at the prospect of a spinoff?

Lastly, Rest In Peace to the great, great, great John Singleton.
