Boosie Badazz Apologizes To White LSU Basketball Player Following His Racial Rant

Boosie Badazz has walked back his racially charged remarks about former LSU student athlete Hailey Van Lith. On Thursday (April 4), Badazz shared a lengthy stream of consciousness in a reel posted to his Instagram page in which he expressed remorse for previous critique of Van Lith’s performance in LSU Women’s basketball team’s loss to Iowa in the elite 8.

Prior to sharing the public apology, Van Lith, who transferred from Louisville to LSU in 2023, entered the NCAA transfer portal for the second time within a year. In his initial remarks, Boosie took full responsibility for allowing his emotions to get the best of him.

“Hey, I want to apologize to Hailey Van Lith,” he said in part. “That’s my bad. I got in my feelings. I really wanted y’all to win, man. I got my feelings.”

As he continued, Boosie appeared to reveal part of his frustration wasn’t even rooted in Van Lith’s effort but rather a large wager he placed on the game.

“I shouldn’t have said what I said,” he said before adding, “I apologized to you and to LSU. I apologize. I mean, that’s all I can say. I got in my feelings. I really wanted y’all to beat Iowa. I just really got my feelings. I had a big o###### on the game. I mean, my bad. OK.”

In a since-deleted video posted on Instagram, Boosie Badazz harshly criticized Van Lith for her performance during LSU’s loss, referring to her as the team’s only “white player” in addition to alluding to the idea she was “scared to death” of Iowa’s all-time leading scorer, Caitlin Clark. Van Lith played 30 minutes and scored nine points to go along with a single assist and single rebound in LSU’s 87-94 loss to Iowa.

Jerrod Carmichael Labels Dave Chappelle An “Egomaniac”

There has been a lot of comedian beef in 2024. Katt Williams kicked off the aggressive tone for the year with an interview on Club Shay Shay. Now Jerrod Carmichael has aired his grievances about Dave Chappelle.

Jerrod Carmichael addressed his issues with Dave Chappelle in a recent Esquire article. The piece included Carmichael explaining the fallout from criticizing Chappelle in 2022 for making jokes about the transgender community.

“I said he’s not revealing anything personal about himself and he’s removed from what he’s talking about, and I think he’s smarter than that and deeper than that and has more interesting thoughts,” Jerrod Carmichael stated.

Additionally, the openly gay stand-up comic commented, “But he took it as f### Dave Chappelle, because he’s an egomaniac. He wanted me to apologize to him publicly or some s###.”

In 2022, Carmichael said, “Chappelle, do you know what comes up when you Google your name, bro? That’s the legacy? Your legacy is a bunch of opinions on trans s###? It’s an odd hill to die on.”

Carmichael is currently promoting his Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show which airs on HBO. A clip from the series featuring Hip-Hop artist Tyler, The Creator went viral on social media.

Previously, Jerrod Carmichael came out as gay during his 2022 HBO comedy special titled Rothaniel. The North Carolina-born entertainer’s Rothaniel won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special.

J. Cole Accused Of Being Transphobic Over “Might Delete Later” Lyrics

J. Cole became a top trending topic on Friday (March 5) after dropping his surprise project Might Delete Later. While his apparent bars about Kendrick Lamar lit up the internet, another song on the project also caused a commotion.

On “Pi” featuring Daylyt and Ab-Soul, J. Cole labels an unnamed man as transgender as a diss. The lyrics led to some people accusing the North Carolina native of being transphobic.

“They plead the fifth. I’m seeing hints of a trans fella. In cancel culture’s vicinity, he’s no killer, trust me. Beneath his chosen identity, there is still a p####, period,” J. Cole raps on the track.

After the release of Might Delete Later, X users began calling out J. Cole for his “Pi” bars. Critics took issue with the Dreamville Records co-founder for essentially using “trans” as a slur.

“So it’s 2024 and J. Cole is rapping about Rick and Morty, calls To Pimp a Butterfly boring, and dropped a transphobic bar. Bro am I hallucinating,” tweeted one person.

Someone else wrote, “An artist as big as J. Cole shouldn’t be getting away with these weirdly transphobic lines anymore.” Additionally, another faultfinder posted, “So J. Cole just proved again that he’s not on Kendricks level and transphobic.”

Another X account tweeted, “Wasn’t planning on listening to that Cole tape and now I’m definitely not gonna after seeing that lame ass transphobic bar. Like really bro? in 2024?? Kendrick f###### CLEARS remember that.”

Kendrick Lamar rapped about his transgender relative on “Auntie Diaries” off 2022’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers album. The Compton-bred MC received both praise and condemnation from the LGBTQ community for the way he covered the topic.

Might Delete Later is J. Cole’s fourth official solo mixtape. In addition to Daylyt and Ab-Soul, the 12-track effort features Young Dro, Gucci Mane, Ari Lennox, Cam’ron, Central Cee and Bas.

Future & Metro Boomin To Handle Unfinished Business On “We Still Don’t Trust You”

Future and Metro Boomin are getting right back to it with We Still Don’t Trust You, the follow-up to last month’s chart-topping album

The duo dropped just last month and are set to drop the second installment in their album series in less than a week.

Metro and Future shared a cinematic trailer on social media while announcing they’re not done yet. Furthermore, fans won’t have a long wait as the project is due to arrive on Friday, April 12.

“Job’s not finished 4/12/24,” they teased in the caption.

Meanwhile, Metro Boomin clarified the album is not an extended version of We Don’t Trust You, but he and Future created an entirely new offering.

“This is not a deluxe,” he said. “This is completely separate body of work.”

He also repeated their claim that the job’s unfinished with a clip from the late Kobe Bryant.

The job may be unfinished, but Metro Boomin and Future made a good start. They sent shockwaves through the Hip-Hop community, with fans debating the album for weeks.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” verse had Hip-Hop heads scouring the track for every reference to Drake and J. Cole, while fans speculated Future fired at Drizzy on the album’s title track.

“Like That” topped the Billboard Hot 100, and We Don’t Trust You debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with the highest first-week sales of 2024.

“HIP-HOP IS ALIVE AND WELL,” Metro wrote on Instagram to celebrate the feat.

Doja Cat Denies Rumor She Dissed Cardi B & Offset: “I Don’t Get In Rap Beefs”

Doja Cat is fending off accusations she dissed Cardi B and Offset on one of the seven new songs on the deluxe edition of her fourth studio album Scarlet II: Claude Frollo

The rapper and singer took to X (formerly Twitter) just hours after dropping off the project to deny aiming at the Hip-Hop supercouple, or anybody else.

“no one has done anything to me for me to even want to begin to diss them,” Doja Cat began. “all my peers been nice as f### and welcoming of me. please stop f###### grasping for straws here. i dont play these games you all are playing. its incredibly childish and quite frankly the most depressing s### ive ever come across on the internet. grow the f### up. i dont get in “rAp bEefS.”

X/Doja Cat

The drama began on Friday (April 5), after Doja Cat shared the expanded version of her album. While the project received a warm reception, a lyric from “AKNOWLEDGE ME” garnered attention from fans who believe Doja Cat fired a shot at Cardi B and Offset.

“Cartier on you but you barkin’ like you Cardi B,” she raps on the track, pronouncing the “B” as “bae.”

“Doja cat always sneak diss and hide her hand. Nothing new,” one fan wrote on Instagram. Cardi been catching strays all week,” added another.

However, others suggested Doja Cat merely referenced an Offset adlib.

“Offset has a barking like adlib,” one person stated. “’Barking like you Cardi’s BAE,’ Offest’s ad-libs,” another fan said.

Meanwhile, Doja Cat later clarified exactly who she was dissing.

“im dissing the man in the song,” she replied to a fan. “Saying hes barking like a woman/ calling him a b#### but that goes over anyones head whos smooth brained.”

Earlier this week, Doja Cat clapped back at a fan attempting to ignite controversy by asking her to confirm the track she dissed Cardi B on.

“None of them get a f##### life,” she replied.

Benzino Slams Joe Budden For Backing Out Of Fight After Running His Mouth

Benzino claims Joe Budden agreed to fight him only to back out when things got real.

Earlier this week, Benzino challenged Joe Budden to a fight while calling out longtime foe Eminem and others. He campaigned for a potential bout to go down on the undercard of Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s boxing match.

However, Benzino said Budden accepted the fight before backing out once the CEO of Celebrity Boxing got involved.

“I said I wouldn’t mind fighting Joe Budden, I would break his jaw,” Benzino began. “Joe Budden responded, said it would be a bad thing [and] that he would accept the fight. We got in touch with celebrity boxing.”

From there, Benzino claims he got on the phone with Budden’s manager, who told him the rapper-turned-podcaster had changed his mind.

“They backed out the fight. Joe says he doesn’t want to fight me. Joe ran his mouth, and he backed out the fight. He must have been thinking about that straw that he was going to be sipping out of,” Benzino continued.

Budden initially addressed the fight on a recent podcast episode. He agreed to fight Benzino “anywhere anytime any day anyhow around anybody.” He even said he would do it for free.

However, despite saying they could fight “anywhere,” he quickly backtracked.  ‘I’m not traveling,” he said before adding, “This will have to be a home court fight for me.”

GloRilla Urges Nicki Minaj & Cardi B To End Beef On New Mixtape “Ehhthang Ehhthang”

GloRilla has returned with a fresh new mixtape, Ehhthang Ehhthang, and she’s calling for peace between the ladies of rap, with a special request for Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.

The project arrived at midnight on Friday (April 5). The 12-track offering clocks in at just over 30 mins and includes features from Moneybagg Yo, Finesse 2X, Boston Richey and more. The project is scheduled to drop on Friday, April 5.

The Memphis breakout star lit up the streets with lead single “Yeah Glo,” before teasing her collab with Megan Thee Stallion. The duo shared a teaser for the single earlier this week, and the video drops Friday at midday.

On “Aite,” GloRilla shared her desire for female rappers to end their feuds, urging Nicki Minaj and Cardi B to call a truce.

“I just pray one day the bad b###### would come together,” she raps. “’Cause Cardi and Nicki on a track would break some f#####’ records.”

Glo also addresses the tension with her former collaborator, City Girls’ rapper JT, stating, “Me and JT ain’t the best of friends but we ain’t beefin’.”

The pair were rumored to have had an altercation at the 2023 MTV VMAs last October. Many speculated that tension arose from Glo and Cardi’s “Tomorrow 2” collab, which some believe includes subliminal shots at JT and Nicki Minaj.

Hitkidd Wanted GloRilla, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion On One Track

Meanwhile, last December, “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” producer Hitkidd claimed he tried to unite some of Hip-Hop’s hottest female artists on a remix for the 2022 banger.

“Nicki Minaj called me to get on the FNF remix,” Hitkidd shared on X (formerly Twitter). “But I still went who I already had on it because I gave them my word. No cap, Cardi wanted to get on the FNF remix and I hit Meg up to get on there with her. I was tryna change the game and put the hottest women artists on one song!”

J. Cole Washes Kendrick Lamar On Surprise Project Following Future “Like That” Diss

J. Cole dropped a surprise project on Thursday night (April 4), which came with a special surprise for anyone who listened to all 12 tracks. The final single, “7 Minute Drill,” finds the Dreamville Records boss firing back at Kendrick Lamar, who dissed Cole and Drake on the recent Future and Metro Boomin’ track “Like That.”

During his verse, Cole commends K. Dot on his debut album, 2011’s Section.80, and 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly but trashes his latest effort, 2022’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. He also suggests good kid, m.A.A.d city didn’t deserves the accolades it received upon its release.

“Your first sh## was classic, your last sh## was tragic,”  he spits. “Your 2nd s### put n###s to sleep but they gassed it/Your 3rd s### was massive hit that was your prime/I was trailing right behind, but I just now hit mine.”

In addition to the K. Dot diss, the 43-minute project features Gucci Mane, Dipset rapper Cam’ron, Ab-Soul, Central Cee and battle rapper Daylyt as well as fellow Dreamville artists Bas and Ari Lennox. Of course, Twitter (X) blew up with reactions to the album but particularly “7 Minute Drill.”

Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Like That” helped push the song to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Apple Music, Spotify US and Spotify Global. It was taken from Future and Metro Boomin’s latest collaborative effort, We Don’t Trust You, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with the highest first-week sales of 2024.

Metro Boomin’ quickly celebrated the accomplishment by sharing a screenshot of the Billboard Hot 100 chart to his Instagram with the caption, “HIP HOP IS ALIVE & WELL.” Judging by the excitement exploding all over Twitter, he just might be right.

EXCLUSIVE: 50 Cent & G Unit Intent On Recouping $250K From Young Buck Amid Legal Feud

50 Cent is known for not letting a debt go—whether it’s a relatively small amount like the $50,000 Teairra Mari owes him or the $6 million he claims he lost when employees of Beam Suntory were busted in a scheme to defraud his liquor business, Sire Spirits.

So it should come as no surprise that 50 Cent refuses to let Young Buck off the hook in a disputed $250,000 claim hanging up the Tennessee rapper’s most recent bankruptcy proceeding.

The conflict centers around Young Buck’s 2014 contract, which stipulated he had to deliver two albums to 50 Cent’s label, G-Unit. The contract acknowledged an upfront payment of $250,000 to Young Buck, which was intended to be reclaimed through the future revenues of his solo project.

However, the scenario soured as Young Buck allegedly released numerous tracks without the consent or authorization of G-Unit Records, starkly violating the agreed terms. The breach led G-Unit to file a claim to recover the advanced $250,000, which Young Buck firmly contests.

Young Buck ended up filing for bankruptcy, claiming 50 Cent was sending him cease and desist notices to stop dropping new music, which would have allowed him to pay off the $250,000 and his other debts.

50 sCent ays Young Buck was pocketing money from the songs, which were really the property of G-Unit and meant to pay off the $250,000.

As a result, Young Buck filed for bankruptcy in 2020 to discharge his debts and restructure his finances. As AllHipHop reported, Young Buck filed a motion in March and argued that the funds he received weren’t a loan but an advance, pushing back against the need for reimbursement, particularly under a breach scenario.

G-Unit and 50 Cent’s response to Young Buck’s objection stresses the lack of merit in his counterclaims, emphasizing the necessity for him to fulfill his contractual obligations. 50 Cent is asking for restitution damages to prevent what he deems unjust enrichment on Young Buck’s end.

Lawyer Suing Diddy Referred To Grievance Committee Amid Salacious Celebrity Lawsuits

The attorney who filed a $30 million blockbuster lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs on behalf of Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones for sexual trafficking is in some legal trouble of his own.

Attorney Tyrone Blackburn has been referred to the Southern District of New York’s Grievance Committee for his “disturbing” pattern of intentionally filing salacious lawsuits in Federal Court.

The referral, handed down by Judge Denise Cote on Wednesday (April 3), stems from concerns over Blackburn’s approach to filing cases.

Judge Cote pointed to a pattern in Blackburn’s conduct that suggests an intent to leverage Federal Court proceedings to attract media attention, tarnish defendants’ reputations with sensational allegations, and coerce swift settlements.

The judge’s decision followed a recent filing accusing attorneys Liane Fisher and Michael J. Taubenfeldckburn of legal malpractice.

Judge Cote claimed Blackburn was sloppy in conducting his due diligence on the districts where the lawsuit should have been filed. She pointed to five other instances where the attorney proceeded with his legal actions anyway.

Blackburn’s case, which purportedly failed to fulfill Rule 11 obligations — a legal standard ensuring claims are well-founded — became a focal point for the Court’s concern.

“A reasonable inference from Blackburn’s pattern of behavior is that he improperly files cases in federal court to garner media attention, embarrass defendants with salacious allegations, and pressure defendants to settle quickly,” Judge Cote wrote in her admonishment of Blackburn’s tactics.

“Regardless of Blackburn’s intentions, his actions in this and prior cases indicate a repeated failure to meet his Rule 11 obligations,” Judge Cote added.

Last week, AllHipHop reported that Universal Music Group CEO Sir Lucian Grainge, a defendant in Diddy’s lawsuit, was also considering sanctioning Blackburn for violating Rule 11.

The judge’s recommendation and the Grievance Committee’s ultimate decision could also impact the credibility of Tyrone Blackburn’s other high-profile lawsuits.

The Grievance Committee is now tasked with determining what action should be taken against Tyrone Blackburn, who has sued high-profile celebrities like Diddy, Nicki Minaj, Kenneth Petty, T.I and Tiny and another Jane Doe suing Diddy for sexual assault.

Bryson Tiller Wants To Prove Himself As Singer After “Dumbing Down” His Vocals

Bryson Tiller expressed frustration with how he’s perceived as an artist in an interview with Billboard. The RCA Records singer believed the general public underestimated his singing abilities because he “dumbed down” his vocals in the past.

“People put me in a box for so long,” he said. “They want me to stick to this one thing I did in 2015, which was T R A P S O U L. Rapping, singing and blending it to make it one thing. Keep doing this and everything will win. Even people around me that I’m cool with, ‘Yeah bro, just stick to what you know.’ I’m like, ‘No, I’m an artist. I feel like I’m capable of so many different things.’ People don’t know that I’m a better rapper than when I made T R A P S O U L. I don’t wanna say I’m a better singer, but I dumbed down my vocals for T R A P S O U L. People just don’t know what I’m capable of as a singer.”

Tiller intended to prove himself as a vocalist on his self-titled album, which drops on Friday (April 5). Tiller claimed he created simplistic songs by choice, not due to his limitations.

“Everything is intentional with this album,” he said. “For example, somebody would hear ‘Whatever She Wants’ and hear the way I’m rapping like, ‘Oh, so simple. He wants to be a rapper so bad.’ But they don’t know that I would bar the f### up on a Slum Village beat and go crazy. It was intentional for me to make a simple song like that.”

He continued, “They might hear a song like ‘Don’t’ and hear how simple the melodies are. I’m not really singing. I’m singing, but I ain’t singing. Like, “Oh, this is as good as he can sing.” I have songs that will probably blow you away with how good I’m singing. Everything’s intentional with me. If I choose not to do something or if I’m not doing something, it’s not because I can’t, it’s because this is what I want to do.”

Bryson Tiller’s new album will be his first release since 2021’s A Different Christmas EP. His last studio album was 2020’s Anniversary.

Dr. Dre Reveals Why He Still Kicks Himself In The Ass Over Record Collection

Dr. Dre regretted selling his massive record collection. The Hip-Hop legend criticized himself for getting rid of 80,000 copies of classic vinyl during an appearance on the Behind the Patrol podcast.

“There’s another story to that that I’m really not proud of,” Dr. Dre told host Lindsey Renee. “I had a collection of records. I had over 80,000 albums that I stored in a warehouse. And at a certain point, I think it was the early 2000s, I sold all of my wax. And I’m kicking myself in the ass still about that.”

Renee questioned why Dr. Dre sold his record collection. He recalled how he rarely visited the warehouse where he kept the albums, so he eventually decided to sell them. But years later, he wished he kept his records.

“It was a warehouse – I had a turntable in there and a bar and everything,” he said. “And then all of a sudden, it just turned into a bill because I was never going. I was like, ‘Okay.’ It took me 10 years to decide to sell. And I finally did and I’m really p##### off at myself about that.”

Last month, Dr. Dre received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and many more of the N.W.A member’s collaborators attended the ceremony.

“I’m incredibly grateful for your support throughout the years,” Dr. Dre told the crowd. “Most of us have grown up together. And at nearly 60 years old, you’re still rocking with me, and I really appreciate that. Thank you so much.”

He added, “I’m nowhere near done. You better believe there’s a lot more coming.”

The acclaimed producer and Snoop Dogg are working on a new album titled Missionary. Dr. Dre also mentioned he did some songs for Eminem’s next album, which is supposed to drop in 2024.

Jam Master Jay Murder: Third Suspect In Talks For Plea Deal

Jay Bryant, the third man charged for Jam Master Jay’s 2002 murder, may avoid trial unlike his co-conspirators. According to the Associated Press, prosecutors and Bryant’s attorney César de Castro confirmed they were discussing a plea deal on Thursday (April 4).

Prosecutors engaged in plea deal talks with Bryant weeks after Jam Master Jay’s killers Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington were convicted of murder. A Brooklyn jury found Jordan and Washington guilty on all counts in February.

Jordan was Jam Master Jay’s godson. Washington was a longtime friend of the late DJ, whose real name was Jason Mizell. Prosecutors said Jordan and Washington killed the Run-DMC member over a drug deal.

“More than two decades after they killed Jason Mizell in his recording studio, Jordan and Washington have finally been held accountable for their cold-blooded crime driven by greed and revenge,” U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said. “That the victim, professionally known as Jam Master Jay, was a Hip-Hop icon and Run-DMC’s music was born in Hollis, Queens, in this very district, and beloved by so many, adds to the tragedy of a life senselessly cut short. I thank the jurors for their service, and I commend our prosecutors, the NYPD detectives, both active and retired, and the Special Agents and investigators from the ATF and my office, for their relentless pursuit of justice for the victim, his family, and the community.”

Bryant was charged for his alleged role in Jam Master Jay’s murder in 2023. Prosecutors accused him of helping Jordan and Washington by letting them enter the victim’s recording studio through a fire escape door.

Authorities found Bryant’s DNA on a hat in the studio. Bryant’s uncle claimed his nephew shot Jam Master Jay, but no other witnesses corroborated the uncle’s story. Assistant U.S. Attorney Artie McConnell said Bryant was “involved, but he’s not the killer.”

Young Thug Fails To Convince Judge To Remove Lead Prosecutor In RICO Trial

A Georgia judge rejected Young Thug’s attorney Brian Steel’s motion to disqualify the lead prosecutor in the YSL RICO trial on Thursday (April 4). According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Judge Ural Glanville allowed Assistant District Attorney Adriane Love to remain on the case despite Steel’s concerns about her questioning of a witness.

Steel claimed Love made herself an unsworn witness when she mentioned her conversations with a state witness in the presence of jurors. The state witness said an investigator for the prosecution harassed her in her testimony, which focused on an alleged incident involving Young Thug and YSL co-founder Walter Murphy in 2013.

Love pressed the state witness by saying, “Isn’t it true you told me” or “Isn’t it true that I told you” during questioning. Steel believed Love’s questions opened the door for him to cross-examine the prosecutor.

“Prosecutor Love has become a witness in this case solely because Prosecutor Love has, for some reason that only she is aware, voluntarily and continuously injected herself as an unsworn witness in this case for which no other witness, investigator or otherwise, is available to answer the questions that Prosecutor Love has forced [the defense] to ask,” Steel wrote in a motion filed on Monday (April 1).

Steel argued Love should be disqualified if he cannot cross-examine her. Assistant District Attorney Dane Uhelski pushed back, saying disqualification wasn’t appropriate. Judge Glanville sided with the prosecution.

Young Thug’s slow-moving RICO trial began in November 2023. Judge Glanville threatened to hold court on weekends to speed up the trial if necessary.

Prosecutors still have more than 150 witnesses to call as the trial is expected to last at least six more months. The jury is off this week for spring break.

Young Thug has remained behind bars since his 2022 arrest. He maintains his innocence.

Rod Wave Arrest Prompts Internal Review As Police Admit Error

St. Petersburg police admitted they mistakenly arrested Rod Wave on weapons charges. He was released from custody after “inaccurate information” led to his arrest on Wednesday (April 3).

“Rod was arrested and detained with absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing,” his attorney Bradford Cohen said. “The police claimed he was a felon in possession of ammunition. Not only was he not in possession of ammunition, a basic check of public records would have easily demonstrated to the police that he was not a convicted felon. The prosecutor and the judge immediately agreed that the evidence did not support the charge and set him free the same day.”

The Alamo Records artist, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, was arrested in connection to a shooting investigation. He was booked on two counts of illegally possessing a firearm or ammunition as a convicted felon.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, police found Rod Wave with a group of men who were allegedly involved in a shooting that injured four people on Sunday (March 31). St. Petersburg police Detective Eric Sireni contacted the Emergency Communications Center for information about Rod Wave.

The detective was told the 25-year-old rapper was convicted of a felony in November 2017. But Rod Wave had no felony conviction as he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

“Although Green had been previously arrested for a felony, the charge was reduced and he was ultimately convicted of a misdemeanor,” St. Petersburg Police Department spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez told the Tampa Bay Times. “Hours later, when the error was discovered, Green was released. An internal review is being done on the Emergency Communications employee who made the mistake.”

Christopher Atkins, Elias Torres, Keith Wesby, Kevontre Wesby and Willie Da’Shaun Cookinson were arrested for their alleged roles in Sunday’s shooting. Police investigated two homes linked to the suspects. Authorities said Rod Wave rented or had ties to the houses.

Doja Cat Blasts Fan For Asking If She Dissed Cardi B

Scarlet 2: Claude Frollo by Doja Cat is expected to hit DSPs on Friday (March 5). Doja had to clap back at a social media user for questioning if she will target Cardi B on her upcoming project.

On Wednesday (March 3), Doja Cat went on social media to promote Scarlet 2 by sharing her opinion on one of the tracks. The RCA recording artist tweeted, “‘Disrespectful’ is one of my top 3 fav.”

An X user attempted to ignite controversy involving another female rapper by asking, “Ok, but which one did you whack Cardi B on?” Doja fired back at the person, “None of them get a f##### life.”

There has been a lot of tension among female rap stars over the last several months. For example, Megan Thee Stallion vs Nicki Minaj as well as Latto versus Ice Spice played out online and on records.

However, Doja Cat and Cardi B have shown no recent signs of public animosity between them. The two Grammy-winning performers took photos together at the 2023 Met Gala event in New York.

Doja’s Scarlet 2: Claude Frollo serves as the deluxe edition of the rapper/singer’s fourth studio album Scarlet. That 2023 body of work hosts the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single “Paint the Town Red” and the Top 10 single “Agora Hills.”

Original “Good Times” Cast Members Weigh In On Netflix’s Animated Reboot

The upcoming Good Times animated series has already been met with negative reactions. A trailer for the Norman Lear, Seth MacFarlane and Steph Curry-produced reboot for Netflix sparked online outrage.

CBS aired the original Good Times for six seasons from 1974 to 1979. The sitcom about a Black family living in a Chicago public housing project became a television classic.

The Hollywood Reporter contacted two members of the 1970s-era Good Times cast. John Amos starred as family patriarch James Evans. Bern Nadette Stanis portrayed James Evans’ daughter, Thelma Evans Anderson.

“I really can’t form an opinion, as I’ve not seen any of the episodes yet,” John Amos stated. The 84-year-old actor also wished the new Good Times the best but acknowledged it would be hard to reach the quality of the ’70s version.

Stars Of Original Good Times Make Cameos In Netflix Version

Bern Nadette Stanis confirmed she provided the voice for a character on the new Good Times. Additionally, Jimmie Walker, who played James “J.J.” Evans Jr. in the original, makes a cameo in the Netflix cartoon.

“I did a little voice for them, but I did not know it was going to be the way it is. I thought it was going to be different,” Bern Nadette Stanis said. She also added, “But I think that they did that because they knew what their show was going to be like. So I guess they figured, if you put us in there, it wouldn’t look so bad or whatever.”

Producer Parted Ways With Reboot Over Creative Differences

Carl Jones had a producer credit for Netflix’s Good Times, but the former The Boondocks producer distanced himself from the show. On March 28, Jones took to social media to announce he no longer works on the production.

“For the record, I was involved with the Good Times animated series in the very VERY beginning but due to creative differences, I had to walk away. So I haven’t even seen one episode or script of this version of the show,” Carl Jones tweeted.

Showrunner Compares Good Times To Other Animated Sitcoms

JB Smoove (Reggie Evans), Yvette Nicole Brown (Beverly Evans), Jay Pharoah (Junior Evans), Marsai Martin (Grey Evans), and Slink Johnson (Dalvin Evans) make up the voice cast for the animated Good Times. The series premieres April 12.

“It’s about a Black family that comes together, laughs together, and survives the system on the South Side of Chicago,” showrunner Ranada Shepard said about Good Times. “What you’ll get from that is a lot of social commentary, a lot of pushing the boundaries, a lot of feel-good television, but also a lot of things that may be in the vein of The Simpsons and South Park and Family Guy.

Diddy’s Legal Troubles To Be Explored In Multiple Documentaries

Sean “Diddy” Combs may have to fight for his freedom in a federal criminal case. The embattled Bad Boy Entertainment founder also faces personal damage in the court of public opinion.

Forthcoming content could make Diddy’s public relations issues more difficult. According to TMZ, multiple American and British producers are looking to create documentaries about the sexual misconduct allegations against Combs.

The outlet reports at least five production companies, including one associated with Hulu, have contacted individuals once connected to Diddy. The March 25 raid of the rapper’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami apparently sparked increased interest in documenting his potential downfall.

If Hulu does produce a documentary about the Diddy allegations, it will come after the platform canceled the mogul’s Diddy+7 reality show in December 2023. Previous documentaries covering alleged sexual abusers, such as Surviving R. Kelly and On the Record, impacted the general public’s perception of the accused men.

Department of Homeland Security officials used a Southern District of New York search warrant to enter Diddy’s residences on two different coasts. Federal officials are reportedly investigating the 54-year-old music executive for possible sex trafficking.

As of press time, Diddy has not been charged with any crimes. However, numerous plaintiffs filed civil lawsuits against the Grammy Award winner. For example, music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones accused Combs of sexual assault.

Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura also sued him in 2023, claiming he raped, abused and sex trafficked her during their relationship. The former couple settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. Combs still denies engaging in any sexual misconduct.

In fact, his legal team blasted the Department of Homeland Security’s handling of the investigation, particularly the home raids. Attorney Aaron Dyer called the feds’ actions “a gross overuse of military-level force.”

GloRilla Explains Blocking Kai Cenat: “That Wasn’t Serious”

GloRilla will drop her Ehhthang Ehhthang mixtape on Friday (April 5). The Memphis-raised recording artist’s current media run to promote the upcoming project included a stop at Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay.

At one point, Shannon Sharpe asked GloRilla about her highly-publicized interaction with Twitch streamer Kai Cenat. In 2023, Cenat criticized Glo’s “Cha Cha Cha” single which led to him getting blocked by the rapper on Instagram.

“That was a whole joke. That wasn’t serious,” GloRilla told Shannon Sharpe when asked about blocking Kai Cenat. “People don’t understand I play too much, and I don’t understand that people don’t know me and don’t know I play too much.”

Kai Cenat discovered GloRilla blocked him during a livestream. When seemingly questioned about the situation on Instagram Live, GloRilla reacted by saying anyone that has been blocked will stay blocked.

“Don’t come on my Live asking me about nobody that I done blocked. F### you talking ’bout? They blocked, and they gonna stay there. You made your bed, you gotta lay there, n####,” Glo stated.

GloRilla’s Ehhthang Ehhthang will arrive with guest features by Moneybagg Yo, Megan Thee Stallion, Kevo Muney, Boston Richey and Finesse2tymes. The mixtape hosts the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hit “Yeah Glo!”

EXCLUSIVE: Ex-Bad Boy Rapper G. Dep Released From Prison

G. Dep is a free man.

The one-time hitmaker, born Trevell Coleman, has officially been granted parole after more than a decade in prison—and now, he’s ready to put a new plan in motion.

He walked out of Fishkill Correctional Facility in upstate New York to be greeted by his closest family members.

The rapper, a former artist under the influential Bad Boy Records label, received a sentence for a 1993 shooting that resulted in death.

He confessed to the crime in 2010, a move that led to his incarceration.

In December 2023, New York Governor Kathy Hochul approved Coleman’s clemency, acknowledging his efforts toward rehabilitation.

G. Dep was unaware that the victim had succumbed to the injuries when he made his confession but repeatedly expressed profound remorse for his actions.

His sentiments of regret, along with his academic efforts, played a crucial role in the decision to grant him parole.

Despite the gravity of his actions, G. Dep’s time in prison has been marked by personal growth and academic achievement.

During his time in prison, he focused on self-improvement and education, earning an associate’s degree in liberal arts.

The support for G. Dep’s release was not limited to the clemency board.

The judge and prosecutor involved in his case also advocated for his parole, recognizing the efforts he made towards rehabilitation and acknowledging the transformation he has undergone since his incarceration.

In an interview with AllHipHop, G. Dep reflected on his past actions and the mindset that led him down a precarious path.

“I was at a point where I wasn’t doing anything that would’ve been fruitful in the long run because I wasn’t right. Everything was kind of fruit of the poisonous tree. Everything that I was doing, it was alright on the surface, but it wasn’t really coming from a genuine place.”

As he prepares for his reentry into society, his focus is on education.

G. Dep has outlined plans to further his education by pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, showcasing a commitment to turning his life around.

G. Dep hailed from Harlem, New York and gained national prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s as part of the Sean “Diddy” Combs-helmed Bad Boy Records.

One of G. Dep’s most notable tracks is “Special Delivery,” released in 2001. The song, along with others like “Let’s Get It,” was a commercial success and received significant airplay.

G. Dep’s debut album, Child of the Ghetto, was released in 2001 and received critical acclaim for its raw lyricism and authentic portrayal of street life.
